  • This paper proposes a new feature weighting method for document sentiment classification. The proposed method considers the difference of sentiment intensities among sentences in a document. Sentiment features consist of sentiment vocabulary words and the sentiment intensity scores of them are estimated by the chi-square statistics. Sentiment intensity of each sentence can be measured by using the obtained chi-square statistics value of each sentiment feature. The calculated intensity values of each sentence are finally applied to the TF-IDF weighting method for whole features in the document. In this paper, we evaluate the proposed method using support vector machine. Our experimental results show that the proposed method performs about 2.0% better than the baseline which doesn't consider the sentiment intensity of a sentence.

  • Along with language, emotion is an effective means of expression. By expressing our emotions as well as speaking language, we can deliver our message better. Because each person expresses the same emotion differently, this expression is a useful gauge to measure an individual personality. To avoid monotonous emotional expression from virtual characters, therefore, it is necessary to adjust the creation and deletion of the same emotion depending on each character's personality. This paper has attempted to define personality characteristics that have an impact on each emotion and propose a method to adjust the emotions. Furthermore, the relationship between particular emotion and personality characteristics has been defined by matching the significance of specified personality characteristics with the lexical meaning. In addition, using the Raw Score, the weighted value which is necessary for the adjustment, continuance and deletion of each emotion has been defined. Then, emotion was properly adjusted. When the same emotion was adjusted using actual personality test data, different results have been observed by personality. This paper has been conducted using NEO Personality Inventory (NEO-PI) which consisted of 5 broad domains and 30 sub domains.

  • Social Network Services(SNS) such as Twitter, Facebook and Myspace have gained popularity worldwide. Especially, sentiment analysis of SNS users' sentence is very important since it is very useful in the opinion mining. In this paper, we propose a new sentiment classification method of sentences which contains formal and informal vocabulary such as emoticons, and newly coined words. Previous methods used only formal vocabulary to classify sentiments of sentences. However, these methods are not quite effective because internet users use sentences that contain informal vocabulary. In addition, we construct suggest to construct domain sentiment vocabulary because the same word may represent different sentiments in different domains. Feature vectors are extracted from the sentiment vocabulary information and classified by Support Vector Machine(SVM). Our proposed method shows good performance in classification accuracy.

  • Virtual human used as HCI in digital contents expresses his various emotions across modalities like facial expression and body posture. However, few studies considered combinations of such nonverbal multimodal in emotion perception. Computational engine models have to consider how a combination of nonverbal modal like facial expression and body posture will be perceived by users to implement emotional virtual human, This paper proposes the impacts of nonverbal multimodal in design of emotion expressed virtual human. First, the relative impacts are analysed between different modals by exploring emotion recognition of modalities for virtual human. Then, experiment evaluates the contribution of the facial and postural congruent expressions to recognize basic emotion categories, as well as the valence and activation dimensions. Measurements are carried out to the impact of incongruent expressions of multimodal on the recognition of superposed emotions which are known to be frequent in everyday life. Experimental results show that the congruence of facial and postural expression of virtual human facilitates perception of emotion categories and categorical recognition is influenced by the facial expression modality, furthermore, postural modality are preferred to establish a judgement about level of activation dimension. These results will be used to implementation of animation engine system and behavior syncronization for emotion expressed virtual human.

  • In recent years, online brand communities, whereby firms and customers interact freely, are emerging trend, because customers' opinions collected in these communities can help firms to achieve their innovation effectively. In this study, we examined whether customer opinions containing negative emotions have influence on their adoption for organizational innovation. To that end, we firstly classified negative emotions into five categories of detailed negative emotions such as Fear, Anger, Shame, Sadness, and Frustration. Then, we developed a lexicon for each category of negative emotions, using WordNet and SentiWordNet. From 81,543 customer opinions collected from MyStarbucksIdea.com which is Starbucks' brand community, we extracted terms that belong to each lexicon. We conducted an experiment to examine whether the existence, frequency and strength of terms with negative emotions in each category affect the adoption of customer opinions for organizational innovation. In the experiment, we statistically verified that there is a positive relationship between customer ideas containing negative emotions and their adoption for innovation. Especially, Frustration and Sadness out of the five emotions are significantly influential to organizational innovation.

  • In this paper, we verify the relation between elements (active and inactive) of Russell's emotional dimension ("A Circumplex Model") to propose a new representing method. Russell's emotional dimension expresses emotional words (happy, joy, sad, nervous, etc.) as a point on the two dimensions (Arousal and Valence). It is most commonly used in many filed such as Science of Emotion & Sensibility, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), and Psychology etc. But other researchers have insisted that Russell's emotional dimension have to be modified because of its inherent problems. Such problems included the possibility of mixed feelings, the difference of emotion and sensibility, and the difference of Arousal axis and Valence axis. Therefore, we verify relationship of A Circumplex Model's elements (active and inactive) and find how to people express their Arousal feelings using survey. We finally propose new method to express emotion in Russell's emotional dimension. Using this method, we can solve Russell's problems and compensate other researches.

  • In this paper, we propose sensibility recognition model that recognize user's sensibility using brain waves. Method to acquire quantitative data of brain waves including priority living body data or sensitivity data to recognize user's sensitivity need and pattern recognition techniques to examine closely present user's sensitivity state through next acquired brain waves becomes problem that is important. In this paper, we used pattern recognition techniques to use Multi Layer Perceptron (MLP) that is pattern recognition techniques that recognize user's sensibility state through brain waves. We measures several subject's emotion brain waves in specification space for an experiment of sensibility recognition model's which propose in this paper and we made a emotion DB by the meaning data that made of concentration or stability by the brain waves measured. The model recognizes new user's sensibility by the user's brain waves after study by sensibility recognition model which propose in this paper to emotion DB. Finally, we estimates the performance of sensibility recognition model which used brain waves as that measure the change of recognition rate by the number of subjects and a number of hidden nodes.

  • The users of a chatbot messenger can be better engaged in the conversation if they feel intimacy with the chatbot. This can be achieved by the chatbot's effective expressions of human emotions to chatbot users. Thus motivated, this study aims to identify the appropriate emotional expressions of a chatbot that make people feel the social presence of the chatbot. In the background research, we obtained that facial expression is the most effective way of emotions and movement is important for relationship emersion. In a survey, we prepared moving text, moving gestures, and still emoticon that represent five emotions such as happiness, sadness, surprise, fear, and anger. Then, we asked the best way for them to feel social presence with a chatbot in each emotion. We found that, for an arousal and pleasant emotion such as 'happiness', people prefer moving gesture and text most while for unpleasant emotions such as 'sadness' and 'anger', people prefer emoticons. Lastly, for the neutral emotions such as 'surprise' and 'fear', people tend to select moving text that delivers clear meaning. We expect that this results of the study are useful for developing emotional chatbots that enable more effective conversations with users.
