Adaptive Channel Estimation Algorithm for DVB-T (DVB-시스템을 위한 적응형 채널 추정 알고리즘)

  • In digital video broadcasting-terrestrial (DVB-T), which is the European digital terrestrial television standard, the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) has been adopted for signal transmission. The main reasons using OFDM are to increase the robustness against the frequency selective fading and impulse noise, and to use available bandwidth efficiently. However, channel variation within an OFDM symbol destroys orthogonality between subcarriers, resulting in inter-carrier interference (ICI), which increases an error floor in proportional to maximum Doppler spread. This paper provides an ICI analysis in both time and frequency domains while existing literatures analyze the ICI effects mainly in frequency domain and proposes the algorithms that estimate the channel impulse response and channel variation using least square (LS) algorithm which is the most simple channel estimation technique. And we propose adaptive channel estimation algorithm that estimates the velocity of terminals. The simulation results show that proposed algorithm has similar performance with about 1.5% computational complexity of noise and ICI reduction LS algorithm in low speed environments.

Reduced Feedback Beamforming with a Large Antenna Array in Wireless Backhaul Downlink Systems (거대 배열 안테나 무선 백홀 하향 링크 시스템에서 피드백 량을 줄이기 위한 빔 형성 방법)

  • In this paper, we propose 2-stage beamformer with linear receiver in wireless backhaul downlink system where macro base station has large antenna array with sub-array structure. Also, to compare the system capacity, we apply 3-stage beamformer with zero-forcing precoder and calculate the achievable sum rate of received small cell base stations. Considering scattering and path-loss property of wireless backhaul channel, we combine precoding technique for spatial multiplexing and beamforming technique to overcome path-loss. Therefore, we design DFT-based fixed beam patterns for the first stage. The simulation results show that considering spatial multiplexing, proposed 2-stage beamformer with linear receiver can increase the achievable sum rate as well as reduce the feedback information.

A Study on the Performance of Digital Subscriber Line in Gaussian and Far-end Crosstalk Noises Environment Using Semi-analytic Simulation (Semi-analytic 시뮬레이션을 이용한 가우스 및 원단누화 잡음환경에서의 디지털가입자라인의 BER 성능에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we have evaluated BER performance of digital subscriber line(DSL) using the twisted-pair channel model by means of Semi-analytic simulation technique. As a result, it was known that the Semi-analytic simulation was proved to be a good technique because of the attenuation of 0.5dB. To keep the BER=10$\^$-7/, 4dB of E$\^$b//N$\^$0/ is needed more when the DSL length extends to 5000m, while 2dB increase of E$\^$b//N$\^$0/ is required when Nyquist frequency goes to 512kb/s with the keeping same distance. In addition, the effect by FEXT noise is serious, when the FEXT noise damping constant, k is over 10/sup-10/ in DSL length and 10$\^$-14/ in the aspect of Nyquist frequency. As the basic, results of this analysis can be used in setting in internal and external standardization of DSL system in the future.

  • In this paper, carrier transport mechanism and modulation response for SCH(Separate Confinement Heterostructure) SQW(Single Quantum Well) laser diodes were studied. In order to explain carrier transport mechanism, both carrier density and current density were calculated. The recombination current density in the quantum well as a function of the SCH length was also calculated. For the modulation response, linearizing the rate equation, we calculated the bandwidth, relaxation oscillation frequency, damping factor, and the K-factor.

A Study of Predistorter using schottkey diode for Power Amplifier (쇼트키 다이오드를 이용한 전력증폭기용 프리디스토터에 관한 연구)

  • At Power amplifier, distortion of output is appeared because of non-linearlity, so we must study method of compensation for non-linearity. In this paper, it was studied about the characteristic of predistorter using serial schottky diode for an amplifier. As a result, we confirmed that power amplifier was able to linearize when we put predistorter using non-linearity of schottky diode before power amplifier. When input carrier level was low, input carrier was delivered directly into power amplifier but input carrier level was high, input carrier was delivered into power amplifier through predistorter with suppressed level. As a result power amplifier always was at saturation region. Through simulation using serenade 8.0, we have concluded that efficiency was improved about 3%, and predistorter got best linearity at 1.8㎓ between 800㎒∼2.2㎓.

A Fair Scheduling Model Covering the History-Sensitiveness Spectrum (과거민감도 스펙트럼을 포괄하는 공정 스케줄링 모델)

  • GPS(generalized processor sharing) is a fair scheduling scheme that guarantees fair distribution of resources in an instantaneous manner, while virtual clock pursues fairness in the sense of long-term. In this paper, we notice that the degree of memorylessness is the key difference of the two schemes, and propose a unified scheduling model that covers the whole spectrum of history-sensitiveness. In this model, each application's resource right is represented in a value called deposit, which is accumulated at a predefined rate and is consumed for services. The unused deposit, representing non-usage history, gives the application more opportunity to be scheduled, hence relatively enhancing its response time. Decay of the deposit means partial erase of the history and, by adjusting the decaying rate, the degree of history-sensitiveness is controlled. In the spectrum, the memoryless end corresponds GPS and the other end with full history corresponds virtual clock. And there exists a tradeoff between average delay and long-term fairness. We examine the properties of the model by analysis and simulation.

레이더를 이용한 남서해안의 호우 사례 특성 분석

  • 비종관 관측자료인 기상위성 및 레이더 분석자료에서 위성영상에서 볼 수 있는 서해남부 해상의 스콜라인 형태의 강한 대류운을 무안-진도 레이더 반사도에 의한 수평 및 연직 구조로 살펴보았는데 특히 발달한 대류운 영역이 보다 상세한 반사도 차이로 나타나고, 40 dBZ 이상 강한 반사도 셀이 고도 6km, 20km 정도의 수평규모를 갖는 여러 대류운시스템이 합쳐진 다중세포시스템으로 구성되어 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 연구용 X-대역 무안 레이더 반사도 분포를 보면 사이트 주면에 강한 dBZ의 대류운이 자리하고 있어 발달한 강수입자에 의한 감쇄효과 때문에 북서방향과 남서방향의 강한 대류운들이 약하게 잘못 관측되고 있음을 볼 수 있었지만 S-대역 진도 레이더는 발달한 강수 입자에 크게 영향을 받지 않고 고유의 강한 반사도를 제대로 관측하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이와 같이 태풍에 의한 직${\cdot}$간접적인 호우, 장마전선의 활성화에 따른 집중호우를 동반하는 중규모대류운시스템에 대해 정확히 정량적으로 판단할 수는 없지만, 관측자료 분석을 통해 중규모대류운시스템을 발달${\cdot}$유지시킬 수 있는 기구의 존재 가능성을 체계적으로 이해하는데 많은 도움이 되었다. 본 연구 결과를 바탕으로 레이더 반사도와 3차원 바람장 그리고 마이크로강우레이더와 광학강우강계에 의한 연직 구름계와 순간적으로 발생하는 강수특성 등 섬세하고 다양한 비종관 관측자료를 이용하여 집중호우를 유발하는 중규모대류운시스템의 강수 구조와 특성 분석 및 예측에 활용될 수 있으리라 기대된다.

  • When multi-carriers are applied to the high power amplifier(HPA) having nonlinear characteristics, the HPA output has unwanted IMD signals. The IMD signal is noise in the HPA. The magnitude and phase of the main and IMD signal of HPA output are changed as the input signal power is changed. If we know exactly the magnitude and phase characteristics of the main and IMD signal, we can design a more adequate linearizer and understand the characteristics of transistor. In this paper the magnitude and phase of the main and IMD signal of HPA output are measured and analyzed for variation of the input power.

  • 본 연구에서는 연안내 오염물질 이동 및 확산 특성을 파악하기 위하여 실내조파모형장치를 제작하고 Nacl을 이용한 염료실험을 실시하였다. 제작된 실내조파모형장치를 이용하여 재현된 조석파는 주기 2초, 파고 3cm의 일정한 주기와 파고를 형성하는 규칙파로 재현하였다. 또한 반사파의 영향을 최소화하기 위하여 상류단에 감쇄역을 설치하였으며 유속의 변화에 따른 염료의 이동 확산특성을 분석하기 위하여 동일조건에서 유속변화를 달리하여 2회 실험하였다. 또한 추적자로 사용된 Nacl은 실험전 일정한 농도로 희석하여 사용하였으며 추적자의 실시간 농도관측을 위하여 세창인스트루먼트 제품 CPC-401(휴대형 다항목 측정장치)을 방출지점에서 일정한 간격으로 4개 지점에 설치하여 1초간격의 농도데이터를 수집하였다. 수집된 CPC-401의 농도데이터 분석결과 염료의 이동 방향은 방출지점에서 하류단 지점으로 이동하였으며 유속의 변화에 따른 최대농도 값의 변화는 적었으나 염료의 지속시간 변화는 뚜렸하게 나타났다. 이는 난류확산 보다는 유속 변화로 인한 이류가 크게 작용함을 알 수 있었다.

Integer Frequency Offset Estimation by Pilot Subset Selection for DRM+ Systems with CDD (순환 지연 다이버시티를 갖는 DRM+ 시스템에서 파일럿 집합 선택을 이용한 정수배 주파수 오차 추정 기법)

  • Cyclic delay diversity (CDD) is a simple transmit diversity technique for an OFDM system using multiple transmit antennas. However, the performance of post-FFT estimation, i.e., integer frequency offset (lFO) is deteriorated by high frequency selectivity introduced by CDD. In this paper, the IFO estimation scheme is proposed for OFDM-based DRM+ system with CDD. Based on the pilot subset partitioning, the proposed IFO estimation scheme reduces the effect of performance degradation caused by frequency selectivity in OFDM systems with CDD . The simulation results show that the performance of the proposed IFO estimator is significantly improved when compared to that of the conventional IFO estimator.
