Purpose: This cross-sectional study was designed to identify anger-expression types of adolescent women and investigate the relationship between the identified anger-expression types and their problem behaviors and suicide probability. Methods: The participants were 942 students at two female high school located in Gwangju. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, cluster analysis, t-test, ANOVA, and $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ multiple comparison test. Results: Cluster analysis revealed 4 distinct anger expression types; Anger-out, Low anger expression, Anger-control, and Anger-in/out types. Female adolescent women had a higher level of trait anger or who frequently used the anger-in/out type reported internalized-externalized problem behaviors and suicide probability more frequently compared to those who frequently used the other three types of anger expression. Conclusion: Female adolescent women who had the low anger expression type and anger control type managed anger most effectively. The findings suggest the necessity of a development of the program for lowering the trait anger level and controlling the unfavorable anger expression types such as the anger-in/out.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the differences in characteristics, lactation problems, knowledge, and adaptation of breastfeeding between users and non-users of a lactation clinic. Methods: The descriptive study design was utilized using self-report questionnaires. 446 breastfeeding mothers participated in this study. Data were collected from lactation clinics, postpartum care centers, mother's culture centers, public health centers, pediatrics and obstetrics & gynaecology outpatient clinics in Seoul, Gyeonggi province, and Chungcheongnam province from August 20 to September 30, 2011. The questionnaires to measure lactation problems, knowledge and adaptation of breastfeeding were used. Data were analyzed using SPSS ver. 18.0 for Windows. Results: There was statistically significant differences in the breast feeding problems(t=5.71, p<.001) and breastfeeding knowledge(t=2.87, p=.004) between users and non-users of a lactation clinic. Conclusion: The results of this study may provide a foundation to develop nursing intervention for mothers in breastfeeding, and an evidence to expand the role of nurses as breastfeeding specialists.
Purpose: The purposes of this study was to analyze the effects of a health education program using problem-based learning on health related knowledge, behavior, and quality of life in elderly people. Methods: The participants included 44 elders, of whom 23 took the health education program and 21 did not. All participants were over 60 yr of age and were selected from residents of nursing homes or participants in activities of social welfare facilities in Jeju Province. Elders in both groups completed pre- and post-tests. Elders in the education group participated in 5 weekly sessions, 100-120 min/session of problem-based learning on health education. Data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 12.0. Results: Scores for health knowledge, health behavior, and quality of life for the education group were significantly higher than those of the control group. Conclusion: A problem-based learning health education program can be recommended as a method to promote the health of the elders. Indirectly, the results seem to indicate that proper assessment and support should be provided simultaneously in the management of elders' health. Finally, future study is needed to examine whether problem-based learning is more helpful compared to traditional education.

Purpose: This study firstly examined the pattern and prevalence of drinking. Secondly, we investigated the association between various psychosocial work environment and problem drinking among Korean male workers in different age groups. Methods: The study sample was a weighted population of 3,289 (3,289 survey samples) men aged 20 to 64 years who responded to the 2006 Korean Working Condition Survey. Social support from colleague and supervisor, work autonomy, psychological wellbeing at work, and intellectual and emotional work demand were assessed. Results: After considering sociodemographic factors, smoking, occupational characteristics and other psychosocial work environment factors, problem drinking was associated with "intellectual work demand" for the 20~34 year old group. Social support from colleague and supervisor was significantly associated with problem drinking in the 35~49 year old group. For the 50~64 year old group, problem drinking was associated with 'work autonomy'. Conclusion: The present study clarified that certain psychosocial work environmental factors relate to problem drinking, and the association varies among different age groups.
Purpose: This study was to investigate adequate strategies of PBL in community health nursing for learning in the real community situation. Method: Data were collected in a PBL class of 14 third-year students who solved problems and assessed PBL in community health nursing related to visiting nursing and chronic diseases. Results: The students guessed situations diversely, chose learning issues widely and mapped the learning concepts specifically. In the assessment of the presentation, the peers of the same group gave the highest score $29.00{\pm}3.36$, the tutor lowest score $22.83{\pm}5.15$. In 5-point Likerts scale, the group dynamic was highest ($4.18{\pm}.61$) and the presentation was lowest ($3.59{\pm}.84$). Conclusion: The group needs to include students who have experiences in the practice at the health centers. The PBL class should be managed by the block system along with the conventional learning. Students needs to practice the self-directed learning and the presentation in a first semester and then PBL. The introduction of community health nursing begins with the conventional lecture and the programs on life circle and health centers through PBL in the comprehensive curriculums.
Purpose: A mediated model of Korean college students' problem gambling based on Blaszczynski and Nower's pathway model is developed and tested to explore mediating roles of self-control and irrational gambling beliefs in the association between emotionally vulnerable variables and problem gambling. Methods: 273 student participants recruited from 4 universities in Seoul and Gyeonggi, Korea responded. Data were collected with a structured self-report questionnaire comprising measures of problem gambling, depression, anxiety, coping styles, irrational gambling belief, and self-control. Results: The modified research model provides a reasonable fit to the data. Depression, anxiety, reflective coping, irrational beliefs, and self-control turned out to have direct effects on problem gambling, while indirect effects were reported in some suppressive and reactive styles. These predictors account for 38% of the college students' problem gambling. Conclusion: The findings suggest that developing intervention programs for reducing depression, anxiety, irrational gambling beliefs, and increasing reflective coping and self-control are needed to prevent Korean college students'problem gambling.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the attachment of middle school students to their parents, their self-control, problem behavior, and the mediating effect of self-control on the relationship between parent-adolescent attachment and problem behavior. Method: Data were collected by questionnaires from 467 students in middle schools from May 19 to 30, 2008. Data were analyzed by Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple regression procedures. Result: 1. The students investigated received a mean score of 2.76 and 3.01 on attachment for fathers and mothers respectively. They received a mean score of 3.32 on self-control. The most prevalent self-perceived problem behavior among the students was going home late at night without permission followed by bullying friends for no reason and drinking. 2. Among parent-adolescent attachment, self-control and problem behavior, parent-adolescent attachment had a positive correlation to self-control and a negative correlation to problem behavior. 3. Self-control had a mediating effect on the relationship between parent-adolescent attachment and problem behavior. Conclusion: Parent-adolescent attachment influenced problem behavior through the mediating effect of self-control, and is expected to lay the foundation for the prevention of adolescent problem behavior.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare and analyze learning satisfaction, critical thinking disposition, learning attitude and motivation between Problem Based Learning and Subjective Based Learning. Method: The research was performed between September and December, 2005 and 2006, including the development of PBL packages and their application. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 13.0. An independent t-test, $X^2$-test, and Pearson Correlation Coefficient were performed to compare the two groups on each of the measures. Result: There were no statistically significant differences among participants in the two groups according to general characteristics. However, The PBL group scored significantly higher on learning satisfaction, critical thinking disposition, learning attitude and motivation. Conclusion: This study contributes to our understanding of student outcomes of the PBL approach compared to the SBL approach. PBL needs to be extended over individual nursing courses for the unification of related courses and a curriculum.
