This study was aimed at identifying the factors of creative ability influencing problem-solving skills for University students majoring in nursing science. A descriptive study was conducted with a sample of 248 students enrolled in a 4-year undergraduate academic program for nursing in one University located in an urban area of Korea. This study used: (a) 25 items of Process Behavior Survey, and (b) 35 items of the Integrative Creativity Scale. The data were collected from Nov. 8th toward Nov. 26th, 2010; the research was conducted through voluntary participation after an explanation about the research. The data were also analyzed with SPSS 18.0 program, using Pearson correlation and stepwise multiple regression methods. Mean score of the level of problem-solving process was 3.62(${\pm}.448$). Problem-solving process was significantly related to creative ability(p<.01). Problem-solving process was significantly influenced by flexibility and elaboration in account for 42.4%. These results imply that in order to foster problem-solving ability, nursing professors need to develop nursing students' creative ability and its factors.

This study was designed to clarify the learning motivations, academic self-efficacy, and problem-solving processes in the educational evaluative method in the fundamental nursing practice using moving pictures. The learning motivations and academic self-efficacy showed statistical differences based on the students' motivations of selecting, their satisfaction with the major and nursing practice, helpfulness of moving pictures, and the suitability of practical tests using a checklist. Problem-solving processes revealed statistical differences based on the students' motivations of selecting the nursing department, their satisfaction with the major and fundamental nursing their satisfaction with the major and nursing practice, the helpfulness of moving pictures, and the suitability of practical tests using a checklist. The learning motivations showed significant positive interrelations with the academic self-efficacy and problem-solving processes. In conclusion, the educational evaluative method in the fundamental nursing practice using moving pictures was related to the nursing students' learning motivations, academic self-efficacy, and problem-solving processes.

The purpose of this study is the education applying Havruta's method for nursing students and to examine its effect on the communication competency, problem solving capability, and self-esteem. This study is the experimental group have take part in a Havruta's mathod course and the control group do a traditional course. Data is collect at begin and finish of semester in 2023 and analyzed using the SPSS 23.0 program. Result Problem solving capability and self-esteem of nursing students using the Havruta's method is significantly higher than those of the control group, but communication competency is not significan. Application of Havruta's method has to be extended to increase nursing students competencies and research applying various Havruta methods other than teaching friends and making problems should be conducted.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of critical thinking disposition and communication competence on the problem-solving confidence satisfaction of nursing students. The data was collected using questionnaires completed by 215 nursing students in G city from November 1 to November 30, 2019. Data was analyzed using SPSS version 22.0. The data analysis showed that the mean score for critical thinking disposition was 3.69±0.37, communication competence 3.72±0.46, and problem-solving confidence 3.56±0.41. There was a significant positive correlation between critical thinking disposition and communication competence (r=.588, p<.001). critical thinking disposition and problem-solving confidence (r=.462, p<.001), communication competence, and problem-solving confidence (r=.255, p<.001). As per the regression analysis, the factors that affect problem-solving confidence were academic achievement, critical thinking disposition, the motive for selecting nursing science, and gender with an explanatory power of about 33.8%. Conclusions: This study showed that problem-solving confidence correlated with critical thinking disposition and communication competence. Therefore, to increase the critical thinking disposition and communication competence and thus enhance the problem-solving confidence of nursing students, it is necessary to develop and apply appropriate teaching methods and non-contact education programs.
