Objectives : Circii Herba has been used as a natural drug for the treatment of stress digestive system disease. The aim of this study is to investigate the role of Circii Herba aqua-acupuncture solution (CHAS) in experimental oxidative liver injury. Methods : In order to investigate the effects of CHAS on acute liver injury, male ICR mice were pretreated with CHAS(0.2 ml/mouse/day) at the loci of BL18 and CV12 for 6days, starved for 24hrs, and administerated acetaminophen(500 mg/kg, i.p.). After acetaminophen administeration, mice were sacrificed, and the liver was removed, rinsed with ice-cold $1.15{\%}$ KCI buffer, and homogenized at $4^{\circ}C$. Fractions(fraction Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ) were isolated by differential centrifugation. Lipidperoxide, total SH, and glutathione(GSH) levels were measured in the Fraction Ⅰ. In addition, activities of hepatic enzyme, such as catalase, glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px) were measured in the Fraction Ⅱ, and glutathione S-transferase(GST) was measured in the Fraction Ⅲ. Results : In vivo treatment of CHAS(BL18 and CV12) showed effective inhibition of acetaminophen induced lipid peroxidation, and showed elevations of total SH, GSH level, catalase, GSH-Px, GST activities. Conclusions : These results suggested that CHAS might suppress the formation of oxidative metabolites, and prevent acetaminophen induced hepatotoxicity.
This study was conducted by utilizing simulation (FDS6) the fire characteristics of the flammable substances such as cable compartment of a small space in the EPS room type. In the partitioned space of a room EPS supply of oxygen does not facilitate the combustion of the upward-sloping curve, as in a standard fire curve is not observed. Simulation results in a situation where ventilation is limited to the heat release rate and smoke emission characteristics of the fire showed a complex and unstable form a repeating rise and fall. Fire time was longer than the fire load. Change in the smoke emission than the heat release rate is slow, but changes of the overall surface was found to exhibit affinity.

An 11-year-old, intact male Shih Tzu presented with obesity, thin hair coat, and abdominal distention. The patient had previously received corticosteroid therapy for dermatitis. Thoracic radiographs showed incidental findings of a generally diffuse bronchointerstitial pattern and markedly radiolucent pleural lines between the middle and caudal lung lobes, but clinical signs related to the thoracic radiographic findings were absent. Echogenicity of the hepatic parenchyma was increased and bilateral adrenal glands were not enlarged on ultrasonography. On computed tomography, the central regions of the lung lobes showed ground-glass attenuation, the peripheral regions of the lung lobes were relatively hypoattenuated compared with the central regions, and hyperattenuated nodules were distributed throughout the pulmonary parenchyma. Iatrogenic hyperadrenocorticism and secondary pulmonary mineralization was diagnosed on the basis of diagnostic imaging and adrenocorticotropic hormone stimulation test.
Objective : This study was designed to investigate the effects of acupuncture, moxibustion and electro-acupuncture at LI4 and LR3, BL18 and BL25 on serum gastin level in rats. Methods : LI4 and LR3 which belong to Large Intestine Meridian and liver Meridian are acupuncture points frequently used for healing gastrointestinal disease in oriental medicine. BL18 and BL25 which belong to Bladder Meridian are acupuncture points used for healing hepatic disease and intestinal disease in oriental medicine. Serum gastrin level by radioimmnunoassay was measured at 3 days after acupuncture, moxibustion and electro-acupuncture of those acupoints. Results & Conclusion : Moxibustion applied to the BL18 acupoint, BL25 acupoint decreased gastrin level of serum, but moxibustion applied to the BL18+BL25 acupoints did not produced significant effect. Acupuncture applied to the LI4 acupoint, LR4 acupoint did not produced significant effect, but acupuncture applied to the LI4+LR4 acupoints increased gastrin level of serum, Electro-acupuncture applied to the LI4 acupoint, LR4 acupoint increased gastrin level of serum, and electro-acupuncture applied to the LI4+LR4 acupoints also increased gastrin level of serum.

Objective : This dissertation was designed to evaluate the effect of BCL(refinded Bambusae Caulis in Liqua-men) oral administration and herbal acupuncture on alcohol metabolism and liver function. Methods : Mice were damaged by a large quantity of alcohol and received treatment of either BCL $1mg/kg$ in oral or BCL $250{\mu}g/kg$ in herbal acupuncture-BL18 BL19 bilateral. and then such parameters as GOT, GPT, catalase and superoxide dismustase(CuZn-SOD, Mn-SOD) were measured. Results : 1. Compared with control group, the activity of GOT, GPT in serum was significantly reduced and the proper degree of alcohol in serum was not significantly differ from oral administration group and herbal acupuncture group. 2. The activity of catalase in liver cell tissue and the activity of CuZn-SOD in liver cell tissue, compared with control group, was not sigificantly affected either by oral administration and herbal acupuncture group. But the activity of Mn-SOD was significantly increased in oral administration group, while it was not the case in acupuncture group. Conclusion : we consider that BCL oral administration and herbal acupuncture is highly effective in recovering alcohol metabolism and liver disfunction induced by alcohol.
Objectives : This study was designed to investigate the effect of pharmacopuncture of Mori Cortex on galactosamine-induced liver injury in rats. Methods : Male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into 5 groups; Normal, liver injury not induced and not treated group. Control, the liver injury-induced and not treated group. Saline group, the liver injury-induced and saline injection at $BL_{18}$. HA-1 and HA-2 group, the liver injury-induced and pharmacopuncture of Mori Cortex applied to $BL_{18}$, each $1.3{\mu}g/g$, $2.6{\mu}g/g$. Then we observed the changes of ${\gamma}$-GTP, GOT, GPT, LDH, total cholesterol, triglyceride, total bilirubin. Results : Pharmacopuncture of Mori Cortex treatment significantly inhibited the activities of ${\gamma}$-GTP, GOT, total cholesterol, triglyceride and total bilirubin in HA-1 group. ${\gamma}$-GTP, GTP, LDH, ${\gamma}$-GTP levels were significantly inhibited in HA-2 group. Conclusions : These results demonstrate that the reduce of hepatic enzyme activation and lipid accumulation by pharmacopuncture of Mori Cortex may be by an antioxidant properties of Mori Cortex.
Objevtives & Methods : Effects of cultivated wild ginseng pharmacopuncture at BL18 and LI11 on lipid composition, cytokine level, liver function, anti-oxidative capacity and histological characters were investigated in diet-induced obese rats. Forty male Sprague-Dawley rats weighing about 400g were divided into 4 groups of control, BL18, LI11 and BL18 plus LI11 pharmacopuncture groups and raised for 4 weeks. Results : 1. Plasma ${\beta}$-lipoprotein, free fatty acids level and TNF-${\alpha}$ levels significantly decreased in the pharmacopuncture groups compared to those of no treatment group. Plasma and liver total cholesterol, triglyceride, glucose and thiobarbituric acid reactive substance (TBARS) levels were also significantly lower than those of no treatment group. There was, however, no difference in TBARS level among pharmacopuncture groups. Liver total cholesterol level of BL18 pharmacopuncture group was lower than those of the other two pharmacopuncture groups. In LDL-cholesterol level, BL18 pharmacopuncture and BL18 plus LI11 pharmacopuncture groups only had significantly lower levels than that of no treatment group. 2. There was no significant difference between cultivated wild ginseng pharmacopuncture groups and no treatment group in IL-6, alanine transaminase (ALT), aspartic acid transaminase (AST) levels. 3. Compared with \ those of no treatment group, pharmacopuncture groups had significantly higher levels of HDL-cholesterol, superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and catalase activities. There was, however, no significant difference among pharmacopuncture groups. 4. Histological characters of heart, kidney and liver of BL18 pharmacopuncture group were similar to those of normal rats. Conclusions : These results indicate that cultivated wild ginseng pharmacopuncture at BL18 and LI11 may suppress adipose tissue mass and lipid peroxidation and activate antioxidant system.

Effects of aqua-acupuncture with soshiho-tang at Kansu(BL_{18}$) and Tamsu(BL_{19}$) on the Glutamic Oxaloacetic Transaminase(GOT), Glutamic Pyruvic Transaminase(GPT), Lactic dehydrogenase(LDH) and blood pictures in rat with $CCI_4$ were determined. In the group with $CCI_4$ the activity of GOT, GPT and LDH showed a tendency to increase, however these values showed a tendency to decrease by the aqua-acupuncture with soshiho-tang throughout experimental days and these values were recovered to those of control group on the last experimental days. Counts of RBC and Hemoglobin showed a tendency to decrease in rat with $CCI_4$, however these decreased values were recovered by the aqua-acupuncture with soshiho-tang and on the last experimental days, these values were similar to those of control group. In the $CCI_4$ group, counts of WBC and the proportion of Lymphocytes showed a tendency to increase and the proportion of Neutrophils showed a tendency to decrease, however these values showed a rapid recovery by the aqua-acupuncture with soshiho-tang. In the meridian point of Kansu and Tamsu, the effects of aqua-acupuncture with soshiho-tang on recovery of liver function showed no difference. Results from this study indicate that the aqua-acupuncture with soshiho-tang can improve the liver function in rat with $CCI_4$.
