Assessment of CO2 Emissions of Vehicles in Highway Sections Using Principal Component Analysis (주성분분석을 이용한 간선도로 구간 별 차량 당 CO2 다량 배출구간 평가)

  • $CO_2$ emissions of vehicles vary with vehicle's speeds. In addition, the speeds vary with road type, location, time and traffic volume. In this paper, the section in which a large quantity of $CO_2$ emissions per vehicle is exhausted is determined and analyzed with principal component analysis(PCA). In results of analysis, the principal components analysis were divided into two principal components. It had been identified that the main component was the time zone one which is able to explain each components' role. The first principal component could explain the role of a major component on $CO_2$ emissions per vehicle in the early morning and afternoon hour, respectively. The second principal component could explain the role of the component on $CO_2$ emissions per vehicle in the morning and afternoon peak hours, respectively. Therefore, the section in which a large quantity of $CO_2$ emissions per vehicle could be deterimined by PCA scores.

  • 우리나라는 매년 수천억에서 수조원에 이르는 수해피해가 발생하고 있다. 특히, 국가 교통의 중추인 도로 수해로 인한 사회 경제적 손실이 매우 큰 실정이다. 간선도로에서의 수해발생시 최단시간 내에 수해 위치와 피해 현황 등을 파악하고 이에 대한 응급복구 및 관리가 필요하고, 수해발생 특성상 전국적으로 산재하여 나타나는 피해 지역에 대한 현황을 효과적으로 파악할 수 있는 시스템이 필요하나 아직까지 이러한 시스템은 지원되지 못하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 기존에 각 지역별로 이루어진 문서기반의 수해복구 관리에서 벗어나 웹 GIS 및 모바일 기술을 이용하여 전국 간선도로망의 수해피해 및 복구현황을 총괄 관리할 수 있는 시스템을 개발하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 첫째, 국내 간선도로 수해관련 현황조사 및 도로재해 관련 국외 현황 분석을 실시하고, 수해복구 업무분석을 통해 문제점을 파악하였다. 둘째, 수해복구업무를 담당하고 있는 국도유지관리사무소의 방문조사 및 업무분석을 통해 수해현장 지원을 위한 Mobile 지원시스템 구축 방안을 도출하고, 전국적인 도로수해관리를 위한 Web기반 관리시스템 구축 방안을 제시하였다. 셋째, 업무분석 결과에 대해 정형화 표준화하여 수해복구업무 표준안을 제시하고, Mobile 지워 시스템 및 Web 관제 시스템을 시범 구축하였다.

Developing the Traffic Accident Models by the Function of Arterial Link Sections in the Case of Cheongju (간선도로 기능별 교통사고모형 개발 - 청주시를 사례로 -)

  • This study deals with the traffic accident of arterial link sections in the case of Cheongju. The purpose of the study is to develop the traffic accident model by the function of arterial links. In pursuing the above, this study gives particular attentions to developing the appropriate models using the accident data of main and minor arterial roads divided by 472 small link sections. The main results analyzed are as follows. First, as the t test on the accident characteristics of main and minor arterial roads shows that there are differences in the number of accident and EPDO(equivalent property damage only) between two roads, the development of models by function is analyzed to be appropriate. Second, it is analyzed that ZINB models are all statistically suitable to the number of accident and EPDO of main arterial roads. Third, the analysis shows that EPDOs of minor arterial roads fit to ZINB, and the number of the accident fit to ZIP model. Finally, the common variables of main arterial roads are evaluated to be the traffic volume and the number of inflection point, and those of minor be the average grade.

  • Travel Time is an important characteristic of traffic conditions in a road network. Currently, there are so many road users to get a unsatisfactory traffic information that is provided by existing collection systems such as, Detector, Probe car, CCTV and Anecdotal Report. This paper presents the results achieved with Data Fusion Model, Hybrid Neuro Fuzzy System for on - line estimation of travel times using RTMS(Remote Traffic Microwave Sensor) and Probe Data in the signalized arterial road. Data Fusion is the most important process to compose the various of data which can present real value for traffic situation and is also the one of the major process part in the TIC(Traffic Information Center) for analyzing and processing data. On-line travel time estimation methods(FALEM) on the basis of detector data has been evaluated by real value under KangNam Test Area.

National Highway's Design Criteria Based on Analysis of Functional Classification (일반국도의 수행 기능 분석에 의한 적정 설계기준 연구)

  • This study shows that a functional order relationship of national highways in rural areas, which provides the functional system as a principal and minor arterial highways, can be established by the use of statististics. As a result, the adequate functional design criteria of those highways are proposed on the basis of the traffic characteristics in those areas. According to those statistical studies, a function of national highways in the national road network is proved to form three categories broadly. Especially, the survey results based on the traffic characteristics on each road sections show that the initially constructed national highways can not provide an adequate functional role as the arterial highways in the studied areas. In order to operate the intended national highways functionally as the arterial highways, the functional design criteria of highways and the standard order of highway facilities based on the design traffic speed should be considered as an alternative.

A Study on the Feasibility of the Improvement of Traffic Congestion : Focusing on Small and Medium-Sized Cities in Chuncheong Province (중소도시 교통혼잡도로 적용범위에 관한 연구 : 충청권 중심으로)

  • Based on the analysis of congestion conditions in small cities with a population of less than 500,000 in Chungcheong Province, this study conducted a feasibility study on the scope of congestion improvement projects. Further, traffic congestion management standards were further established by analyzing LOS as well as the speed of traffic presented by congestion criteria in the existing Project. According to the analysis according to the congestion management standard LOS suggested in this study, Asan city has the most major number of highways where LOS E occurs for more than 3 hours, followed by Sejong City and Gongju City. In addition, when comparing the ratio of the busy main roads according to the frequency of LOS E by city size, it was analyzed that the ratio and extension of the busy highways relative to the overall extension of the large Chungcheong area are similar to the ratio in small cities in the Chungcheong region. Therefore, traffic congestion occurred in small cities and the feasibility of the improvement project was revealed.

Comparison between Congestion Levels and Amount of $CO_2$ Emissions on Arterials (단속류 간선도로에서 지정체와 $CO_2$ 배출량 비교)

  • It has been presumed that the amount of vehicle's $CO_2$ emission would highly related to vehicle's cruising speeds on highways. In this study, it was tested if vehicle's $CO_2$ emissions would relate to the types of highways and the level of congestion. The results showed that the amount of $CO_2$ emission changes depending on (1) the vehicles' cruising speeds (b) congestion levels, and (c) the types of intersections. It was found that the vehicle acceleration and deceleration methods increases the amount of $CO_2$ emission up to 12%. It was also found that it changed up to 30% and 40% depending on the level of congestion and the types of intersections, respectively. The findings imply that the amount of $CO_2$ emission from vehicles should be improved when vehicles' cruising speeds are well managed through congestion management.

  • Nowadays, the movement of commercial vehicles has caused severe congestion, environmental problems and damaged pavements in urban area. To solve the Problems, this research has proposed a methodology to build-up a freight network that is enable to manage the movement and demand of commercial vehicles. The network based on urban arterial network has developed according to freight traffic volume that is under the influence of road types among The in study area. Freight network has been developed by assignment method of 4-step transportation forecasting. Once, acceptable limits of freight traffic volume are decided, freight network can be developed using the capacity To confirm the application of the methodology, freight network of Seoul city has developed by the methodology.

Missing Data Estimation for Link Travel Time (차량 결측속도정보 추정에 관한 연구)

  • Traffic speed data may be missed due to detector malfunction or network problems. In this paper we have proposed effective methods to estimate the data which could not be collected through loop detectors. Our proposed algorithm has three steps. First step is to find the most similar neighbor data record by coefficient of correlation. Second step is to make some data records which is calculated by the 5 kinds of estimation methods. Third step is to compare the data records with history data record of observation link and thus the best method is selected. The proposed method is useful for estimating travel time.
