Microstructure and Magnetic Properties of Hexagonal Barium-Ferrite (BaM) Thin Films with Various Underlayers (여러 하지층을 첨가한 Hexagonal Barium-Ferrite(BaM) 박막의 미세구조와 자기적 특성)

  • In this paper, we studied structural and magnetic properties of Ba-ferrite thin film deposited on Si(100) substrate with various underlayers. Ba-ferrite thin films with various underlayers were deposited by reactive RF/DC magnetron sputtering system at room temperature. various underlayers was reactive sputtered with O$_2$. After deposition, the thin films were annealed at 850 $^{\circ}C$ to get the crystallized sample. Underlayers were used to prevent interdiffusion from Ba-ferrite thin film to substrate. The growth of Ba-ferrite thin films was influenced by underlayers. Easy magnetization direction is in-plane. From these results the Ba-ferrite film with various underlayers can be used as longitudinal recording media.

Influence of Ga-Addition on the Manetic Properties of $\alpha-Fe$ Based Nd-Fe-B Alloy (Ga 첨가가 $\alpha$-Fe기 Nd-Fe-B 합금의 자기특성에 미치는 영향)

  • The nanocrystalline Nd-Fe-B alloys with low Nd content were prepared by rapid solidification technique. The alloys consist of both$\alpha$-Fe as the main phase and $Nd_2Fe_{14}B_1$ as a secondary phase and have an ultrafine grain structure of about 30 nm. The addition of Ga in $Nd_4Fe_{82}B_{10}Mo_3Cu_1$ alloy increases remanence up to 1.29 T and improves squareness. The nanocrystalline $Nd_5Fe_{81}B_9Mo_3Cu_1Ga_1$ alloy has a volume fraction of $Nd_2Fe_{14}B_1$ phase of around 35% due to the increase of Nd content and shows an improved coercivity. The remanence, coercivity and energy product of optimally annealed nanocrystalline $Nd_5Fe_{81}B_9Mo_3Cu_1Ga_1$ alloy are 1.24 T, 257.4 kA/m (3.23 kOe), and 100.3 kJ/ ㎥ (12.6 MGOe), respectively.

Fabrication of Ni Nanodot Structure Using Porous Alumina Mask (다공성 알루미나 마스크를 이용한 니켈 나노점 구조 제작)

  • We have fabricated an ordered Ni nanodot structure using an alumina mask prepared via 2-step anodization technique under phosphoric acid. We have formed a porous structure with average pore size of 279 nm on $2{\mu}m$ thick alumina film and the thermal deposition of thin Ni film though the mask led to the formation of ordered Ni nanodot structure with an average dot size of 293 nm, following the pore structure on the mask. We further investigated the magnetic properties of the nanodot structure by measuring the hysteresis curve at room temperature. When compared to the magnetic properties of a continuous Ni film, we observed the decrease in the squareness and the increase in coercivity along the magnetization easy axis, due to the isolated nanodot structure. Our study suggests that the ordered nanodot structure can be easiy fabricated with thin film deposition technique using anodized alumina mask as a mask.

A new species of Epilobium (Onagraceae) from Ulleungdo Island, Korea, Epilobium ulleungensis (한국(울릉도)의 1신종: 울릉바늘꽃)

  • A new species, Epilobium ulleungensis J. M. Chung (Onagraceae Juss), from Ulleungdo Island (South Korea) was described and illustrated. Among four taxa native to Ulleungdo Island (E. amurense Hausskn. subsp. cephalostigma (Hausskn.) C. J. Chen, Hock & P. H. Raven, E. hirsutum L., E. pyrricholophum Franch. Sav., and E. ulleungensis), E. ulleungensis has a unique tetragonal stigma, which is considered to be an intermediate form between clavate (E. pyrricholophum) or capitate (E. amurense subsp. cephalostigma) and 4-lobed stigmas (E. hirsutum). More importantly, this new species is clearly distinguished from the other three taxa distributed on Ulleungdo Island by its height (over 200 cm), decumbent stem, leaf shape, short, dense pubescent covering on the whole plant, large flower size, and a dark pink or red purple flower. According to the stigma shape and other characters, it was estimated that E. ulleungensis is a hybrid between E. hirsutum and E. pyrricholophum or E. amurense subsp. cephalostigma). The specific epithet "ulleungensis" was chosen because the new species was restricted to Ulleungdo Island.

Effect of Two-step Annealing on the Magnetic Properties of $Co_{67}Fe_{4.5}Nb_{2}Si_{10}B_{15}$ Amorphous Alloy ($Co_{67}Fe_{4.5}Nb_{2}Si_{10}B_{15}$ 비정질합금의 자성에 미치는 2단 어닐링의 효과)

  • In a $Co_{67}Fe_{4.5}Nb_{2}Si_{10}B_{15}$ amorphous alloy ribbon the effect to two-step annealing on the soft magnetic properties has been studied. By two-step annealing method which the second annealing at low temperature of $310^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours is undertaken after the primary annealing at high temperature above $480^{\circ}C$ for 20 minutes at the vacuum state, the coercive force and the squareness are not changed nearly but the initial permeability at d.c. and the effective permeability at a.c. are remark-ably increased compared with the one-step annealing. The maxima of the initial permeability and the effective permeability at 1 kHz after the two-step annealing are 290,000 and 41,000, respectively, which are 30% higher than those of the one-step annealing. The change of magnetic properties with annealing temperature is discussed in terms of the residual stress, the domain size, the cluster and the crystalline phase.

Annealing Effects of Amorphous Cores for the Application of Flux-gate Sensors (Flux-gate 센서용 비정질 코아의 열처리효과)

  • Flux-gate magnetometer was developed in 1930's, and it has been widely used for the low magnetic field measurements. In this work, we have employed amorphous ribbon 2714A produced by Allied Chem. Co. as sensor core material. To develop low noise, low power consumption, and high reliability flux-gate magnetometer, we have measured ac magnetic properties depending on the annealing conditions. As quenched state amorphous core shows high noise level and ac magnetic properties were changed under the condition of accelerated aging test, but amorphous ribbon, which was annealed under 350 $\^{C}$ during 1 hour, shows low noise level of 0.1 nT in the frequency range of dc∼10 Hz which was 10 times better than the as quenched amorphous ribbon. Under accelerated aging test, ac magnetic properties such as squareness and coercivity of the annealed samples show higher reliability and approached to a certain limiting value as exponential function. We can see that high reliability and low noise flux-gate magnetometer could be developed, if we consider this ac magnetic properties change in the sensor design.

  • In order to measure magnetic field difference, we have constructed a fluxgate magnetometer which is based on the measurement of apparent coreci ve field strength from the magnetizing current of two sensors. 'Co-based amorphous ribbon, which has square shape of ac hysteresis loop, was used as core material. Two sensors have 315 turns of the primary and the secondary windings respectively, and core size of 2 mm wide and 30 mm long. The primary windings are connected parallel to measure external magnetic field difference and the secondary windings serieally for the averaged magnetic induction of the cores. The constructed magnetometer could measure magnetic field difference with sensitivity of $1.6{\times}10^{6}V/T$ and resolution of 1 nT at 1 Hz bandwidth.

  • The influence of thickness on magnetic interaction and magnetic properties in electrodeposited CoPt magnetic films was investigated from the analysis of the magnetic remanence curves and the magnetic hysteresis loops. As the thickness of the CoPt film is increased, the perpendicular coercivity and the saturation magnetization are increased but the squareness is considerably decreased. The analysis results of the magnetic remanence curves and the magnetic hysteresis loops exhibited that the dipolar interaction is the main interaction mechanism for all samples, but the strength of the dipolar interaction gradually increased with increasing sample thickness.

  • The ROC, TOC, and TROC curves, which are visually descriptive methods of exploring the performance of the binary classification model, are implemented with TP, TN, FP, FN which consist of the confusion matrix, as well as their ratios TPR, TNR, FPR, FNR. In this study, we consider two types odds and then propose an odds curve representing these odds. And show the relationship between the odds curve and ROC curve. Based on the odds curve, we propose not only two statistics that measure the discriminant power of the odds curve but also the criteria for validation ratings of the odds curve. According to the shape of the odds curves, two classification distributions can be estimated and a criterion for validation ratings can be determined. The odds curve can be meaningfully used like other visual methods, and two kinds of measures for the discriminant power can be also applied together as an alternative criterion.

Micro-Structure and Magnetic Properties of Electroless Co-W-P Alloy Deposits Formed (무전해 Co-W-P 합금 도금 층의 미세구조와 자기적 특성)

  • In these respects the purpose of this research is manufacturing Co-W-P alloy thin film on the corning glass 2948 by electroless plating method using $NaH_2PO_2H_2O$ (sodium hypophosphite) as a reductant, and analyzing deposition rate, alloy composition, microstructure, and magnetic characteristics at various pH's and temperatures. For Co-P alloy thin film, the reductive deposition reaction occurred only in basic condition, not in acidic condition. The deposition rate increased as the pH and temperature increased, and the optimum condition was found at the pH of 10 and the temperature of 8$0^{\circ}C$. Also magnetic characteristics was found to be most excellent at the pH of 9 and the temperature of 7$0^{\circ}C$, resulting in the coercive force of 870Oe and the squareness of 0.78. At this condition, the contents of P was 2.54% and the thickness of the film was 0.216$\mu\textrm{m}$. For crystal orientation, we could not observe fcc for $\beta$-Co. On the other hand, (1010), (0002), (1011) orientation of hcp for $\alpha$-Co was observed. We could confirm the formation of longitudinal magnetization from dominant (1010) and (1011) orientation of Co-P alloy. For Co-W-P alloy thin film, coercive force was 500Oe and squareness was 0.6. For crystal orientation, (0002) orientation of $\alpha$-Co was dominatly found. Then we could confirm the formation of perpendicular magnetization. The content of P was constant at 0.8$\pm$0.2% and the content of W increased as the concentration of Na$_2$WO$_4$increased. When the concentration of Na$_2$WO$_4$was 0.1mol/L, the composition of W was 20%. We observed the changes of magnetic characteristics and microstructure of thin film depositions of Co-W-P by the heat treatment. For heat treatment, the temperature was increased step by step to 10$0^{\circ}C$, 20$0^{\circ}C$, 30$0^{\circ}C$, and 40$0^{\circ}C$ and it took 1 hour at each step in the reductive condition of hydrogen gas. By the heat treatment, flatness of surface was improved, but there were no changes on the magnetic characteristics and the microstructures.
