Simultaneous Treatment of Tar and Particles Using Oil Scrubber and Bag Filter in Biomass Gasification (오일 스크러버 및 집진장치를 통한 바이오매스 가스화 공정 발생 타르 및 입자 제거 연구)

  • A combustible producer gas composed of H2, CO and CH4 could be obtained by the thermal-chemical conversion of biomass. However, a large amount of particulate matters including tar generated causes the mal-function of turbines and engines or the fouling of pipelines. In this study, a wet scrubber using the soybean oil and bag filter were installed, and the removal efficiency was investigated. Hydrate limestone and wood char base activated carbon were pre-coated on the filter medium to prevent clogging of open pores. The removal efficiencies by the bag filter were 86 and 80% for the hydrated limestone and activated carbon coating, respectively. Overall, the collection when using a series of oil scrubbers and bag filters were 88%, while 83% for the filter coating material.

  • CMC(Ceramic Matrix Composites)는 $1500^{\circ}C$ 이상의 고온에서 내열성, 내산화성, 내식성이 우수하여, 초음속 비행체, 가스터빈 엔진 및 원자로용 초고온 부품 등에 수요가 증가하고 있다. 하지만 이러한 특성은 비산소 환경에 국한되는 것으로 약 $400^{\circ}C$ 이상의 산화 분위기에는 탄소섬유가 산화되는 문제로 인하여 적용의 한계를 가지고 있다. 따라서 CMC의 적용범위 확대를 위하여 내산화 코팅으로 CMC의 초고온 산화특성을 개선하는 것이 필수적이며, 장시간 초고온 산화환경 분위기에서 사용되기 위하여 안정적인 코팅기술이 최근 기술개발의 핵심현안으로 부각되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 pack cementation 공정을 이용하여 내산화성이 우수한 SiC 코팅층을 제조하였다. Pack cementation 공정에 사용된 코팅 분말은 57wt.% SiC, 30wt.% Si, 3wt.% B, 10wt.% Al2O3의 비율로 혼합된 것이다. 실험은 3D 직조된 CMC 모재를 혼합분말 내에 침적한 후, Ar 분위기에서 $1600^{\circ}C$, 4~12시간 반응시켜 수 마이크론 두께의 SiC 코팅층을 형성하였다. 더 우수한 산화 특성을 부여하기 위하여 pack 처리된 CMC 표면에 초고온 세라믹인 TaC 소재를 진공플라즈마 코팅 공정으로 적층시켰다. 제조된 코팅층을 SEM, XRD를 이용하여 미세구조 및 결정구조를 분석하였으며, pack cementation에 따른 내산화 특성을 비교 분석하고자 $2000^{\circ}C$에서 산화 실험을 진행하였다. 산화 실험 이후 미세구조 및 결정구조 분석으로 산화거동을 규명하고자 하였다.

  • Ni 기 초내열합금은 원자력 발전설비의 열교환기용 재료를 비롯한 발전용 가스터빈, 제트엔진, 화학공장용 튜브 및 파이프재료 등 우수한 고온 기계적 특성 및 고온 내식성을 요구하는 각종 부품재에 광범위하게 이용되고 있다. Al 확산침투처리는 Ni기 초내열합금에 Al 혼합분말을 이용하여 금속간합화물을 코팅함으로써 고온산화특성 향상에 효과적인 방법이다. 본 연구에서는 Al 확산침투처리를 통하여 Inconel 617 표면에 Aluminide 코팅층을 형성함으로써 고온 내산화특성을 향상시키고자 하였다. Al 확산침투처리는 Al :$Al_2O_3$ : $NH_4Cl$ = 15g : 83g : 2g(wt.%)의 비율의 혼합분말을 사용하여 $900^{\circ}C$에서 1 시간 동안 Ar 분위기에서 수행되었다. Al 확산침투처리 후 $950^{\circ}C$에서 1000 시간 동안 air 분위기에서 열화시험을 수행하였다. Al 확산침투처리 후 고온열화를 통해 고온산화특성을 평가였으며, 고온 열화에 의해 형성된 코팅층의 석출물과 계면상의 상분석을 수행하였다.

  • Mass averaged and core enthalpy in the arc jet flow are obtained experimentally. The experiment is made for the 150kW Huels type arc-jet applying the test condition for the research of gasturbine engine injection cooling technique. The mass averaged enthalpy value determined by the sonic throat method is 5.5MJ/kg. The core enthalpy value determined by the heat transfer rate method is 14.3MJ/kg. Based on result of experiment, the ratio of the core to mass averaged enthalpies is 2.6.

  • The atomization phenomena and spray characteristics of drum type rotary atomizer using centrifugal force from high rotational speed of gas turbine engine shaft were studied through rotary atomizer modeling analysis and experimental method. A test rig for rotary atomization that has range of $5,000{\sim}40,000\;rpm$ was used to make similarity for high speed rotating shaft. Spray visualization methodology and Phase Doppler Anemometry were also used to investigate the atomization mechanism and spray characteristics. We found that the rotating fuel spray has unique breakup process and we have to make breakup point earlier through increasing rotating speed to improve atomization performance.

A Survey on Dynamical Modeling for Active Control of Thermo-Acoustic Instabilities (열-음향학적 불안정 현상의 능동제어를 위한 동역학적 모델링에 관한 현황 분석)

  • This paper surveys the recent research activities regarding dynamical modeling of thermo-acoustic instabilities which are fundamental to actively control such phenomena in gas-turbine engines, rockets, and etc. For this, we introduce reduced-order modeling approaches, mainly conducted after 1990s. Particularly, we survey grey-box approaches, which determine the structure of the model based on physical rules and use system's input-output data for estimating parameters of the model. We also introduce black-box approaches using model structures without physics-based interpretation. Finally, we briefly discuss future directions and feasibilities of the research in this field.

  • Plasma spray coating technology is essential for the microsemiconductor processes based on the electronic and computer industry, and extend gradually the range of application for up-to-date industry such as diesel engine and gas turbine components. These thechonoogies may be applied to the components requiring wear-resistance, heat resistance, fatigue-resistance, and corrosion-resistance. In this research, plasma spray technology was selected for the wear resistant coatings as the most proper technique. The final goal of this study is to improve the wear resistance through establishment of coating soft-ware, and basic research for industrialization of the technology concerned.

High Temperature Oxidation of NiCoCrAlY-(Ta, Re, Ir) Coatings for Gas Turbines (가스터빈 엔진부품용 NiCoCrAlY-(Ta, Re, Ir) 코팅의 고온산화특성)

  • The high velocity oxy-fuel sprayed coatings of 38Ni-23Co-20Cr-11Al-3Y-5Ta, 25Ni-34Co-20Cr-11Al-3Y-2Re and 32Ni-34.5Co-22Cr-11Al-0.5Ir (in wt%) were oxidized at 1000 and $1100^{\circ}C$ in air in order to find the alloying effect of Ta, Re and Ir on the oxidation properties of the NiCoCrAlY-base coatings. The primary phase of the coatings was $Ni_3Al$. The oxides formed on the coatings consisted primarily of ${\alpha}-Al_2O_3$, together with some $CoCr_2O_4,\;CoAl_2O_4$, and $Al_5Y_3O_{12}$. Tantalum oxidized to $Ta_2O_5$ and $Ta_2O_{22}$. However, no oxides of Re and Ir were detected by XRD owing to their thermodynamic inertness and/or their small amount.

  • This paper was investigated the behaviors of the engine and combustion phenomena for various LPG compositions in the semi-return type system, which is not recircurated to LPG tank through furl rail, applied LPi engine during a cold idle condition and including a cold start of the engine. Cyclic HC and NOx emissions were measured at exhaust port to examine their formation mechanical and reduction mechanical with fast response gas analyzers. Various ignition timing is experimented to study the characteristics of combustion phenomena, HC/NOx emissions during fast idle. Also, this study was investigated start delay time, cylinder pressure, HC/NOx emissions, Mass Fraction Burned, starting time to evaluate performance of transient cold startability. Compared to the return type system, the semi-return type system have advantages in point of production cost and equivalent performance of engine starting time and pressure settling time.
