A Study on Performance Characteristics for a CNG Regulators of Automotive Vehicle (차량용 CNG 레귤레이터의 성능특성에 관한 연구)

  • The fuel pressure regulator mounted on CNG vehicles is used to maintain a constant pressure in the fuel injection system. It needs precise fuel pressure control to obtain benefits of high efficiency and low emissions in CNG vehicles. In this study, a high pressure test rig for the performance evaluation of CNG regulators was introduced. Two different CNG regulators were tested and compared each other at various test conditions. Results showed that dynamic response and creep characteristics are directly effected by the valve assembly design. Gas temperature was dramatically dropped at hish supply pressure conditions, so that effective design for coolant bowl is needed to prevent icing problem.

  • Today the most efficient way to transport the natural gas is carried via the liquid. In order to liquefy the natural gas to be cooled to $-160^{\circ}C$ or less. Cooling method has a number of different ways. In this paper, we studied control method for the representative liquefaction process, C3MR. Natural gas liquefaction control is a tool that can maintain the quality of natural gas is a means to ensure stable operation. Analyzing the C3MR process, and select the control parameters for the control valve. We find control structure for mixed refrigerant cycle through the step response. A control result obtained through the dynamic simulation arbitrarily given a disturbance was found to maintain a steady-state results.

  • A remote monitoring panel and control system was developed to control various valves and access control chambers, including gas shutoff valves used in CBR(Chemical, Biological and Radiological) facilities. The remote monitoring panel consisted of a main panel installed in the NBC (Nuclear, Biological and Chemical) control room and auxiliary panel installed in the clean room, and the size was divided into pure control and control including CCTV. This system can be monitored and controlled remotely according to the situation where an explosion door and gas barrier door can occur during war and during normal times. This system is divided into normal mode and war mode. In particular, it periodically senses the operation status of various valves, sensors, and filters in the CBR facilities to determine if each apparatus and equipment is in normal operation, and remotely alerts situation workers when repair or replacement is necessary. Damage due to the abnormal operation of each device in the situation can be prevented. This enables control of the blower, supply and exhaust damper, emergency generator, and coolant pump according to the state of shutoff valve and positive pressure valve in the occurrence of NBC, and prevents damage caused by abrupt inflow of conventional weapons and nuclear explosions.

Evaluation of the Inherent Flow Coefficient of the Control Valve in the Liquid Propellant Rocket Engine (액체로켓 엔진 성능 보정용 제어밸브의 고유유량특성 계산)

  • It is important for the liquid rocket engine to meet the exact performance requirements in order to guarantee the successful mission of the launch vehicle. Usually, a ground combustion test for the engine is conducted to reduce the performance error and for the tuning. For the gas-generator (GG) cycle engine, this adjustment process can be easily tuned by means of the control valves. A linearized correlation between the process parameters of the control - the combustion chamber pressure and the mixture ratio of engine - and the independent parameter of the control- rotational angle of the control valve - could be suitable to reduce the tuning errors. Also this linearity can reduce the effort for the tuning and make the process more explicit by ensuring a more intuitive control. In this point, we proposed an algorithm in the frame of the in-house-developed program to obtain the control valves' inherent characteristics which satisfy the linearity.

Optimization of biomethane production by biogas upgrading process using response surface mothodolgy (반응표면분석을 이용한 바이오가스 고질화공정을 통한 바이오메탄)

  • This research was focused to apply response surface methodology for optimization of bio-methane production by biogas upgrading process. Methane concentration(Y1) and methane efficiency(Y2) on biogas upgrading process were mathematically described as being modeled by the use of the Box-Behnken design on response surface methodology. The results of ANOVA(analysis of variance) about models, the probability value of the methane concentration and methane recovery response surface model are 0.0001 and 0.0001, respectively and coefficient of determination($R^2$) are 0.9788 and 0.9710, respectively. The response surface model is proved of high reliability and suitability. The operation pressure had the greatest influence to methane concentration than other operation parameters and the PSA rotary valve velocity had the greatest influence to methane recovery than other operation parameters. Optimal condition of biogas upgrading process for production of $100Nm^3/hr$ bio-methane were operation pressure 8.0bar and outlet flow rate 31.55RPM, respectively. At that operation condition the methane concentration of bio-methane was 97.13% and methane recovery in biogas upgrading process was 75.89%.

Applicability to Gas Engine and Small Sized Generator of Low Caloric Synthetic Gas Fuel from Coal Gasification (저발열량 석탄가스화연료의 가스엔진 및 소형발전기 적용연구)

  • This paper presents the applicability of low caloric synthetic gas from coal gasification to a gas engine system and small sized generator. A commercial LPG engine is modified to use the low caloric synthetic gas from coal gasification as the gas engine fuel. The modification is focused on the fuel supplying system, which includes air flowrate adjusting orifice, gas mixer, vaporizer, preheater, regulators, and fuel tank. From the results of engine performance data, we have demonstrated that the engine modified by using the coal gasification gas is well operated from idle to wide open throttle conditions although the engine power is somewhat reduced relative to LPG fueled engine. And we have also demonstrated that the generator is well operated with various loads.

Forecasting Methane Gas Concentration of LFG Power Plant Using Deep Learning (딥러닝 기법을 활용한 매립가스 발전소 포집공의 메탄가스 농도 예측)

  • In this study, after operational data for a landfill gas power plant were collected, the methane gas concentration was predicted using a deep learning method. Concentrations of methane gas, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, oxygen concentration, as well as data related to the valve opening degree, air temperature and humidity were collected from 23 pipeline bases for 88 matches from January to November 2017. After the deep learning model learned the collected data, methane gas concentration was estimated by applying other data. Our study yielded extremely accurate estimation results for all of the 23 pipeline bases.

  • As part of the commercialization research of small gas turbine engines, starting and normal operation control logic research of small gas turbine engine was conducted. It was investigated how the igniter, starting motor and fuel pump/valve are controlled during the ignition and normal operation process and it was applied to the prototype engine control unit(ECU) of the small gas turbine engine for commercialization research. Based on the ground test results, an ECU for flight test is being developed, and after completion of the development, an altitude test will be performed through an altitude test facility of Korea Aerospace Research Institute.

영광 3/4호기 Midloop 운전중 RHR 기능 상실사고시 CATHARE2 코드를 이용한 열수력 현상 해석 및 증기발생기 열제거 능력 평가

  • 최적 열수력 전산 코드인 CATHARE2 Vl.3u 코드를 이용하여 영광 3/4호기 midloop 운전중 잔열제거(RHR) 기능 상실사고를 해석하였다. 본 연구의 주된 목적은 사고시 계통에서 발생하는 열수력 현상의 이해 향상 및 증기발생기 열제거 능력 평가에 있다. 사고 복구 절차 관점에서 노심 비등, 노출 시점 및 계통압력 등이 중요한 인자이다. 본 계산 수행시 사용한 가정은 다음과 같다. 가) 초기 계통 수위는 고온관 중간에 위치하며 그 윗 부분은 질소 가스로 차 있다. 나) 3/4 인치 크기의 방출 밸브가 원자로 용기 상부 및 가압기 상부에 각각 설치되어 있으며, RHR 흡입구에 수위지시계가 설치되어 있다. 다) 증기발생기의 이차측은 U-튜브가 잠기도록 물로 차있다. 라) 두 증기발생기의 대기 방출 밸브(ADV)는 항상 열려 있어 사고시 이차측 압력을 대기압으로 유지하기에 충분하다. 사고는 원자로 정지 2일 후 발생하였다고 가정한다. 이와 같은 조건하에서 사고시 주된 계통 열제거 수단은 증기발생기 U-튜브내의 응축 작용이며 이는 전체 열제거량의 94%로 나타났다. 노심 비등 시점온 사고후∼300초 이후이며, 계통압력은 10,800초 이후에 최고 압력인 0.25MPa에 도달한 후 그 값을 계속 유지하고 있다. RHR 배관에 연결된 수위지 시계를 통해 10,200초 이후부터 냉각수가 방출되었다. 2개의 방출밸브 및 수위지시계를 통하여 방출된 유량에 근거하여 원자로 용기 냉각재 수위가 고온관 바닦까지 낮아지는 시점을 계산하면 사고 약 6.4 시간 이후가 된다.

A Study on the Residual Gas Fraction in Cylinder by the Adjustment of Variable Valve Timing with Volumetric Efficiency (체적효율을 고려한 가변밸브 개폐시기의 조정에 의한 실린더내 잔류가스량에 관한 연구)

  • The EGR is needed fur one of various strategies to reduce NOx emission. But to get the proper EGR rate, the intake and exhaust system become complicated. That is a reason why we consider using the internal EGR system. The internal EGR is a system which reduces NOx by controling the residual gas fraction in cylinder by changing valve timing and valve lift of intake and exhaust. In this paper, characteristics of volumetric efficiency and residual gas fraction in cylinder were investigated for various engine speeds by changing valve timing and valve lift of intake and exhaust in the 4 stroke-cycle diesel engine. Volumetric efficiency and residual gas fraction were calculated by the method of characteristics. As the results, residual gas fraction and volumetric efficiency in cylinder by variable valve timing were visualized.
