Seismic performance evaluation of Pier-Shafts system with multi-layered soil (다양한 지반층을 갖는 Pier-Shafts 시스템의 내진성능평가)

  • The so-called Pier-Shafts system which consists of the continuous column and shaft is often used to support the highway bridge structure because of advantages in easy construction and low cost. In the earthquake region, the Pier-Shafts system undergoes large displacements and represents a nonlinear behavior under the lateral seismic loading. The soil-pile interaction should be considered for more accurate analysis of the Pier-Shafts system. In this study, a transverse response of a reinforced concrete Pier-Shafts system inside multi-layered soil medium is predicted using a finite element program which adopts an elasto-plastic interface model for the interface behavior between the shaft and the soil. Then, seismic analysis is performed to evaluate the performance of Pier-Shafts system under strong ground motion and their results are verified with experimental data.

  • A practical method to investigate the user interface of web based Flexible Manufacturing System(FMS) on the internet environment is established. Because the industrial FMS controller requires a lot of gadget, such as switch, dial, button, etc., for actual work-site flexible operation sufficiently, the user interface of the controller is significantly complex. The support for operational convenience of FMS controller can increase productivity and efficiency of the user, operational personnel of FMS. While most FMS provide their application programming interface(API) and graphical user interface(GUI) with adequate mechanism itself when used in stand alone, there is increasing demand for FMS that can operate with the intuitional user interface find virtual reality(V/R) environment. This thesis considers the intuitional user interface of Web-based FMS first, and from this, goes a step further, improves as virtual reality environment of FMS on the internet environments by using the feature based modeling technique approach and cartoon rendering. The feature-based modeling technique approach is applied to FMS line which is consist of facilities such as machining center, CNC lathe, autonomous guided vehicle, rail guided vehicle, and various controllers. In this study, the FMS established the intuitional user interface is able to obtain not only the operational convenience but also the enough productivity and significant efficiency.

Exploring Augmented Reality applications for Geography Learning: Focused on Marker Based Methods (지리 학습을 위한 증강현실 적용 방안 연구: 마커기반 방법을 중심으로)

  • In this paper, we describe two exploratory examples in the use of Augmented Reality (AR) for geographical visualization regarding refinement of visual content in geography textbooks and learning motivation of geography students. Currently, teaching and learning materials with AR technology and their utilization in the geography classroom have become a new topic in geographical research themes, and this trend has increased. Adequate development and utilization of geographical materials is an important starting point for smart education research in geography. This paper describes the system and software, and the implication of marker AR applications for teaching and learning geography in the classroom. For the AR applications to be utilized in geography education, two marker based AR examples, virtual globe and visualization of topographical features, are presented and their utilization aspects are discussed. Finally, from the discussion stated in this paper, it can be inferred that AR is useful for exploring geographical materials, and marker based AR will contribute to progress in spatial science and geographical education research.

  • While evolving information-oriented society provides a lot of benefits to the human life, new types of threats have been increasing. Particularly, cyber terrorism, happen on the network that is composed of a computer system and information communication network, and the mean and scale of damage has reached a serious level. In other words, it is hard to locate cyber terror since it occurs in the virtual space, not in the real world, so identifying "Who is attacking?" (Non-visibility, non-formulas), or "Where the attack takes place?" (trans-nation) are hard. Hackers, individuals or even a small group of people, who carried out the cyber terror are posing new threats that could intimidate national security and the pace and magnitude of threats keep evolving. Scale and capability of North Korea's cyber terrorism are assessed as world-class level. Recently, North Korea is focusing on strengthen their cyber terrorism force. So improving a response system for cyber terror is a key necessity as North Korea's has emerged as a direct threat to South Korean security. Therefore, Korea has to redeem both legal and institutional systems immediately to perform as a unified control tower for preemptive response to cyber terrors arise from North Korea and neighboring countries.

  • Currently, the lack of equipments for the medical practice and education made it impossible for the people in medical institution to carry out suitable experiments for observing human bodies. In this paper, the authors embodied three dimensional images and moving pictures for the human skeletal structure, digestive organs, cardiovascular system and their processes over the internet framework. The three dimensional images and moving picture made it possible for the general people as well as the specialists to observe and obtain informations with regard to the human body. specially, the authors realized a framework for visualizing the human bodies in three dimensional images, via which a detailed and realistic architecture for the human body and its organs tan be obtained. The system developed in this paper can be used in the practice and education of the people engaged in medical fields.

It also supports all kinds of IT equipment so you can conduct business in real time when moving. With these advantages, many corporations are considering cloud computing but there are security issues when implementing cloud. In this paper, we analyze security problems of clouding service and present the appropriate guidelines. This will be utilized in the fields of cloud computing and service delivery.

  • Simulation visualization technology is an important constituent through which users directly interact with simulators. Simulator users have a needs for more fast, realistic and intuitive visualization. Though hardware-related performances such as computing power and visual equipment have been grown, the limits have existed in graphics rendering engines generally used in marine simulator up to now. This paper has focused on the review of graphic rendering engines available for simulation visualization. We had deduced system requirements for visualization of ship handling simulation, had surveyed graphic rendering engines as commercial and open source, and analyzed strengths and weakness of them. The feasibility study for simulation visualization of tug-barge transportation with an open source graphics rendering engine(OGRE3D) has been demonstrated.

  • Enlargement and complexification of current structures increase the expected casualty in case of accident in those e.g., fire. In that case, there only have been basic instructions such as announcement of that situation, alarm bell, exit signs, etc. but any guidance to lead to proper escape route was not been provided so far. To tackle the problem, several schemes have been proposed. However, various risk factors were not considered and route discovery performance must be improved to be applied to structures. Therefore, this paper proposes an optimal route discovery system for emergency escape from disaster situations which takes into account various possible risk factors and enhances the searching efficiency by using the $A^{\ast}$ algorithm. Performance evaluation by computer simulation shows that the proposed scheme effectively leads to safe escape route.

  • Recently, exhibition space has incorporated a format in which visual contents providers and viewers can directly or indirectly experience the space with a sense of immersion. By offering more extended spatiality within a limited space, such exhibition design is now transcending physical limitations and expanding to visual reality; as such, exhibition design demands the implementation of not only visual elements but information services generated between people, contents, and objects. To this end, this study examines the changes and the development direction of exhibition techniques that use Internet of Things (IoT), which is a representation of environmental change in exhibition design of our times; it also explores the various forms of change based on the perception of the visual contents (visual exhibits) users during the act of accumulating and using information through the smartphone communication of viewers who experience the space through IoT. Finally, the study conducts a case study on the relationship between a regular exhibition and an exhibition design that makes use of IoT, in order to propose an exhibition design with which to verify whether the viewers are immersed in and experience a sense of realism from visual contents by identifying the viewers' visual and emotional changes.

  • Recently using a variety of sensors sensing the virtual(Virtual Sensing) technology that extracts specific data has been applied to IoT service interface. The utilization of such sensors while increasing IoT (Internet of Things) environmental sensor is an essential element. However, used in the IoT to the environment, while the increase in utilization of a specific sensor utilization falling sensors is generated. In this paper, we design unnecessary sensors removal algorithm as a way to solve this problem. Through the utilization of poor power to block the sensor can reduce the power consumption and user sensor control service through the monitoring by blocking the use of the sensor is considered that there can be provided a more effective and convenient.
