A 13-Gbps Low-swing Low-power Near-ground Signaling Transceiver (13-Gbps 저스윙 저전력 니어-그라운드 시그널링 트랜시버)

  • A low-swing differential near-ground signaling (NGS) transceiver for low-power high-speed mobile I/O interface is presented. The proposed transmitter adopts an on-chip regulated programmable-swing voltage-mode driver and a pre-driver with asymmetric rising/falling time. The proposed receiver utilizes a new multiple gain-path differential amplifier with feed-forward capacitors that boost high-frequency gain. Also, the receiver incorporates a new adaptive bias generator to compensate the input common-mode variation due to the variable output swing of the transmitter and to minimize the current mismatch of the receiver's input stage amplifier. The use of the new simple and effective impedance matching techniques applied in the transmitter and receiver results in good signal integrity and high power efficiency. The proposed transceiver designed in a 65-nm CMOS technology achieves a data rate of 13 Gbps/channel and 0.3 pJ/bit (= 0.3 mW/Gbps) high power efficiency over a 10 cm FR4 printed circuit board.

  • Network of these days, A transmission medium of information is replaced from electric signal to optical signal to accept various and increased network traffic. In this paper, we develop simulation program using AweSim and simulate EPON system as a high-speed optical subscriber network with various conditions. The effects of number of ONUs, effects of network load and effects of slot assignment schemes have been evaluated. The simulation results show that slot assignment schemes and number of ONUs is major factor of network performance. The variable-number slot scheme is more efficient than fixed-length slot scheme in the traffic processing.

  • Nowadays, the databases are getting larger and larger. As the company has difficulty in managing the database, they want to outsource the database to the cloud system. In this case the database security is more important because their database is managed by the cloud service provider. Among database security techniques, the encryption method is a well-certified and established technology for protecting sensitive data. However, once encrypted, the data can no longer be easily queried. The performance of the database depends on how to encrypt the sensitive data, and on the approach for searching, and the retrieval efficiency that is implemented. In this paper we propose the new suitable mechanism to encrypt the database and lookup process on the encrypted database under control of the cloud service provider. This database encryption algorithm uses the bloom filter with the variable keyword based index. Finally, we demonstrate that the proposed algorithm should be useful for database encryption related research and application activities.

  • The asynchronous design methods proved to have the higher performance in power consumption and execution speed than synchronous ones because it just needs to activate the required module without feeding clock in the system. Despite the advantage of CISC machine providing the variable addressing modes and instructions, its execution scheme is hardly suited for a synchronous Pipeline architecture and incurs a lot of overhead. This paper proposes a novel asynchronous pipeline architecture, A80sl, whose instruction set is fully compatible with that of Intel 80C51, an embedded micro controller. We classify the instructions into the group keeping the same execution scheme for the asynchronous pipeline and optimize it eliminating the bubble stage that comes from the overhead of the multi-cycle execution. The new methodologies for branch and various instruction lengths are suggested to minimize the number of states required for instructions execution and to increase its parallelism. The proposed A80C51 architecture is synthesized with 0.35${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ CMOS standard cell library. The simulation results show higher speed than that of Intel 80C51 with 36 MHz and other asynchronous counterparts by 24 times.

  • In this paper, a VCDRO(Voltage Control Dielectirc Resonator Oscillator) for signal source of doppler radar system is designed and fabricated. The proposed VCDRO is made with new tuning mechanism using CPW line. The coplanar waveguide of $\lambda_{g}$/2 in length with varactor diode is placed on the metallization side under the dielectric resonator and coupled to it. Tuning varactor diode is mounted at one end of the CPW. The proposed circuit tuned by a CPW allows one more varactor diode to be mounted on the optimized CPW, where a greater sensitivity of frequency tuning is needed. With varying the biasing voltage for the varactor diode from 0 V to 15 V, output frequency tuning of 12 MHz is obtained. The PLDRO exhibits output power of 16.5 dBm with phase noise in the phase locked state characteristic of -115 dBc/Hz at 100 Hz, -105 dBc/Hz at the 10 kHz, and -102 dBc/Hz at 1 Hz offset from 10.525 GHz , respectively.

  • Crypto-systems have difficulties in designing hardware due to the various standards. We propose a programmable and configurable architecture for cryptography coprocessors to accommodate various crypto-systems. The proposed architecture has a 32 bit I/O interface and internal bus width, and consists of a programmable finite field arithmetic unit, an input/output unit, a register file, and a control unit. The crypto-system is determined by the micro-codes in memory of the control unit, and is configured by programming the micro-codes. The coprocessor has a modular structure so that the arithmetic unit can be replaced if a substitute has an appropriate 32 bit I/O interface. It can be used in many crypto-systems by re-programming the micro-codes for corresponding crypto-system or by replacing operation units. We implement an elliptic curve crypto-processor using the proposed architecture and compare it with other crypto-processors

  • We have experimentally demonstrated the transmission performance of a feedforward optical transmitter using an external light injection technique. The feedforward compensation method shows 31 dB intermodulation distortion suppression and 2.2 dB noise reduction. A high side-mode suppression ratio exceeding 35 dB of the wavelength of the locked Fabry-Perot laser diode was obtained over 12 nm ranges. The suppression characteristics of the intermodulation distortion for various wavelength differences and transmission lengths were measured and analyzed as the evaluation criteria for the system performance in WDM/SCM based radio-over-fiber systems.

Modification of Surface Flow Analysis Algorithm in SWAT (SWAT 모형의 지표유출해석 알고리즘 개선)

  • SWAT model usually underestimates daily peak discharges. To resolve this problem, in this study, the algorithm related with the surface flow simulation was modified by partitioning excessive infiltration based on the relative length between overland flow time of concentration and percolation travel time in soil water zone and by computing time of concentration varying with the amount of surface flow. The modified SWAT was applied to the Chungju dam watershed to assess the increasing effects of daily peak discharges. The daily peaks simulated by the modified SWAT were on average 10% higher than those by original SWAT for the peaks above $5,000m^3/s$. The modified SWAT was found to be able to more accurately reproduce daily peaks, particularly showing increase rates of 9.9%, 18.6% and 12.6%, respectively, for top three peaks that occurred in the years of 1990, 2002, and 2006.

  • Recently, automobile industries have been developing many structural automotive parts made of thin, high-strength steel strips to produce safer and more environmentally friendly cars. The roll forming process has been considered one of the most efficient processes in manufacturing high-strength steel parts because it is a high-speed process that forms sheets in increments. However, most automotive parts vary longitudinally in their cross-sections. Therefore, it is difficult to apply the roll forming process to automotive parts made of high-strength steel. A variable section roll forming process has been proposed in recent studies. The rotational axes of the forming rolls are fixed, and the forming rolls have three-dimensional shape. As such, the cross-section of the part varies linearly along its length, and the angle between the bend line and longitudinal axis is less than 1 degree. Thus, the rate of cross-sectional variation along the length is relatively small. In this study, the rate of cross-sectional change along the length of a forming roll has been increased. Moreover, the angle between the bend line and longitudinal axis has been increased up to 15 degrees. The variable sections of the forming rolls have been designed for high strength steel parts with a symmetric u-type cross-section that varies linearly and symmetrically along the longitudinal axis.

  • IEEE802.15.3 and IEEE802.15.4 have defined the hybrid MAC protocols based on TDMA and CSMA where a multi-frame TDMA structure is employed so that multiple data frames can be transmitted within one timeslot to guarantee minimum delay bounds of isochroous traffic. However, TDMA has an intrinsic problem that cannot dynamically allocate optimal length of timeslot to each station. Therefore the idle timeslot can be produced by stations when each transmission queue is instantaneously empty during its timeslot, which would waste lots of timeslots especially in the multi-frame TDMA systems. In this paper, we propose a more flexible multiple-access scheme for the multi-frame TDMA system based on the concept of virtual slot which is accessible by every station with the highest priority for slot owner and lower priority for other stations. Finally, our simulation results from various environments show that proposed scheme can achieve magnitude improvement of total system throughput and average message delay by maximizing channel utilization.
