Mobility Improvement of a Jumping Robot using Conical Spring with Variable Length Endtip (가변길이 엔드팁을 갖는 원추형 스프링을 이용한 도약로봇의 이동성 향상)

  • Mobility is one of the most important features for a guard robot since it should be operated in rough places. A wheel-based mobile robot capable of jumping is an appropriate structure for a guard robot because it can easily satisfy the requirements for small guard robots. The jumping robot can reach a higher place more rapidly than other locomotion methods. This research proposes a small robot equipped with the jumping mechanism based on the conical spring with the variable length endtip. The variable length endtip enables the independent control of the jump force and jump angle which are related to the jump height and jump distance, respectively. Various experiments demonstrated that the proposed jumping mechanism can provide the independent control of jump force and jump angle, and improve the mobility of a small robot to overcome an obstacle. Furthermore, a combination of the jumping mechanism and the PSD sensor to measure the distance to the step enable the jumping robot to autonomously climb stairs.

Performance Improvement of SAR Autofocus Based on Partition Processing (분할처리 기반 SAR 자동초점 기법의 성능 개선)

  • To compensate the degraded SAR image due to the residual errors and the spatial variant errors remaining after the motion compensation in the airborne SAR, we have introduced the autofocus method based on the partition processing. Thus, after we perform the spatial partition for the spotlight SAR data and the time partition for the stripmap SAR data, we reconstruct the subpatch images for the partitioned data. Then, we perform the local autofocus with the suitability analysis process for the phase errors estimated by the autofocus. Moreover, if the estimated phase errors are not properly compensated for the subpatch images, we perform the phase compensation method with the weight to the estimated phase error close to the degraded subpatch image to increase the SAR image quality.

Design of Variable Gain Low Noise Amplifier Using PTAT Bandgap Reference Circuit (PTAT 밴드갭 온도보상회로를 적용한 가변 이득 저잡음 증폭기 설계)

  • In this paper, bandgap reference PTAT(Proportional to Absolute Temperature) circuit and flexible gain control of LNA(Low Noise Amplifier) which is usable in Zigbee system of 2.4GHz band are designed by TSMC $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS library. PTAT bandgap reference circuit is proposed to minimize the instability of CMOS circuit which may be unstable in temperature changes. This circuit is designed such that output voltage remains within 1.3V even when the temperature varies from $-40^{\circ}C$ to $-50^{\circ}C$ when applied to the gate bias voltage of LNA. In addition, the LNA is designed to be operated on 2.4GHz which is applicable to Zigbee system and able to select gains by changing output impedance using 4 NMOS operated switches. The simulation result shows that achieved gain is 14.3~17.6dB and NF (Noise Figure) 1.008~1.032dB.

  • The variable speed engine generator set is interested for an isolated power system due to reduced fuel consumption and less emission. However, because of sluggish dynamic behavior of the internal combustion engine the power quality would be degraded during the sudden load power surge, where the power required by the load is not available by the engine due to the reduced engine speed. An isolated power system based on variable speed engine with a super-capacitor bank improves dynamic characteristics under sudden load change, and power quality, fuel consumption, and pollutants can be reduced remarkably. Also, it is verified by the computer simulation that the inverter of 3phase-4leg is compatible to the isolated power system with unbalanced load. In this paper, the feasibility of the system has been verified based on a 26kw commercial diesel engine system.

  • 기존의 초소형 렌즈모듈들은 초점 거리 가변을 위한 구동장치가 필요하여 소형화 한계, 큰 전력소모, 부품의 기계적 결함 등 해결해야 할 부가적인 문제점들이 존재하였다. 액체렌즈는 이러한 문제를 해결할 수 있는 유력한 기술로 주목받고 있으며, 특히 부가적인 구동 장치가 필요없고 비교적 간단한 원리로 렌즈 곡률을 조절할 수 있는 일렉트로웨팅 기반의 액체렌즈는 초점 거리 조절 및 줌 조절이 필요한 휴대폰, 캡슐 내시경 등에 적용이 가능하다. 그러나 기존의 일렉트로웨팅 기반의 액체렌즈는 렌즈 캐비티의 크기에서 큰 단점이 있으며, 렌즈모듈구성 시에도 소형화하는데 한계가 존재하였다. 본 연구에서는 렌즈 캐비티를 MEMS 기술을 이용하여 실리콘 기판 상에 제작함으로써 구동회로의 집적이 가능한 액체렌즈를 제작하였다.

  • As semiconductor and MEMS devices become smaller, testing process during their production should follow such a high density trend. A circuit inspection tool "probe card" makes contact with electrode pads of the device under test (DUT). Nowadays, electrode pads are irregularly arranged and have height difference. In order to absorb variations in the heights of electrode pads and to generate contact loads, contact probes must have some levels of mechanical spring properties. Contact probes must also yield a force to break the surface native oxide layer or contamination layer on the electrodes to make electric contact. In this research, new vertical micro contact probe with bellows shape is developed to overcome shortage of prior work. Especially, novel bellows shape is used to reduce stress concentration in this design and stopper is used to change the stiffness of micro contact probe. Variable stiffness can be one solution to overcome the height difference of electrode pads.

  • Atomic layer deposition (ALD)에 의한 알루미늄 산화 막(Al2O3)은 고효율 결정질 실리콘 태양전지를 위한 우수한 표면 패시베이션 특성을 제공한다. 알루미늄 산화막는 고정적인 음전하를 가지고 있기 때문에 p-형 실리콘 태양 전지 후면은 전계에 의한 우수한 패시베이션 효과를 형성한다. 그러나, ALD 방식으로 증착된 알루미늄 산화막은 매우 긴 공정 시간을 필요로 하기 때문에 기존의 실리콘 태양 전지 공정에 적용하기가 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 알루미늄 산화막 형성에서 공정 시간을 줄이기 위해 Plasma assisted atomic layer deposition (PA-ALD) 방식을 적용했다. PA-ALD 기술은 trimethylaluminum (TMA)과 O2를 사용하여 기판 표면에 알루미늄 산화막을 증착하는 것으로 ALD 방식과 유사하지만, O2 플라즈마를 사용함으로써 증착 속도를 향상시킬 수 있다. 이는 좋은 패시베이션 특성을 가지는 알루미늄 산화막을 실리콘 태양전지양산 공정에 적용할 수 있는 가능성을 제시한다. PA-ALD 방식에 의한 알루미늄 산화막의 패시베이션 특성을 최적화하기 위해서 증착 후 열처리 조건에 대한 연구도 수행하였다. 막증착률이 1.1${\AA}$/cycle인 Al2O3층의 두께 변화에 따른 특성을 최적화하기 위해 공정 온도를 $250^{\circ}C$ 고정하고, 열처리 온도와 시간을 가변하였으며 유효 반송자수명을 측정하여 알루미늄 산화막의 패시베이션 특성을 확인했다.

A Design of Analog Voltage-controlled Tunable Active Element for Information Protection (정보 보호용 아날로그 전압조절 가변 능동소자 설계)

  • In this paper, a new voltage-controlled tunable analog active element for low-voltage applications and information protection is proposed. The proposed active element is composed of the CMOS complementary cascode circuit which can extend transconductance of an element. Therefore, the unity gain frequency which is determined transconductance is increased than that of the conventional element. And then these results are verified by the $0.25\mutextrm{m}$ CMOS n-well parameter HSPICE simulation. As a result, the gain and the unity gain frequency are 42㏈ and 200MHz respectively in the element on 2V supply voltage. And power dissipation of the designed circuit is 0.32mW.

  • Real-time application programs have synchronization constraints which need to be met between media-data. Synchronization method represents feedback method including virtual client-side buffer. This buffer is used in buffer level method. It is client-leading synchronization that is absorbing variable transmission delay time and that is synchronizing by feedback control. It is the important factor for playback rate and QoS if the buffer level is normal or not. To solve the problems, we can control the start of transmission in multimedia server by appling filtering, control and network evaluation function. Synchronization method is processing for smooth presentation without cut-off while media is playing out. When audio frame which is master media is in high threshold buffer level we decrease play out time gradually, otherwise we increase it slowly.

  • An open-end winding (OEW) permanent magnet synchronous motor with dual inverters can synthesize large voltages for a motor with the same DC link voltage. This ability has the advantage of reducing the use of DC/DC boost converters or high voltage batteries. However, zero-sequence voltage (ZSV), which is caused by the difference in the combined voltage between the primary and secondary inverters, can generate a zero-sequence current (ZSC) that increases system losses. Among the methods for eliminating this phenomenon, combining voltage vector eliminated ZSV cannot be accomplished by the conventional Pulse Width Modulation(PWM) method. In this study, a PWM carrier generation method using functionalization to generate a switching pattern to suppress ZSC is proposed and applied to analyze the control influence of the center-zero vector in the switching sequence about the current ripple.
