A Channel Spacing-Tunable Sampled Fiber Gratings (채널 간격을 가변할 수 있는 샘플격자)

  • In this paper, a channel spacing-tunable sampled fiber gratings(SFGs) is proposed, and analytically and experimentally investigated. The channel spacing of the proposed SFGs can be tuned by simply changing the period of the external pressure on the fiber Bragg gratings(FBGs). The channel spacing of 1.4nm was tuned to 0.8nm by changing the pressure period from 580${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ to 1000${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ The experimental results agree well with the theoretical results.

  • 본 논문에서는 주기적으로 홈을 새긴 V자 홈과 평판 사이에 광섬유를 놓고 압력을 인가함으로써 유도되는 파장가변 가능한 장주기 광섬유격자의 제작 및 특성에 대해서 살펴 보았다. 이러한 방식으로 제작된 장주기 광섬유격자의 투과특성 및 모드결합 특성은 기존의 장주기 광섬유격자와 유사한 특성을 보이면서도 모드결합이 일어나는 중심파장을 거의 180nm 이상으로 가변할 수 있었다.

  • In this paper, a phase shifter with shifting photonic bandgap(PBG) cell in linear feedforward amplifier is designed and fabricated in 5GHz wireless LAN band. Now a day, the phase shifter has been fabricated with hybrid type. In this paper, a portion of PBG cell is shifted for the tuning phase. The phase shift was achieved maximum 80o in our PBG structure. Shifting PBG cell has been applied in feedforward main loop to cancel the main two tone signal.

  • We proposed and demonstrated a tunable wavelength optical add/drop multiplexer(OADM) employing piezoactuated fiber grating pairs and polarization beam splitters. We used piezostack act as a fiber stretcher, using the fact that the resonant wavelength of the grating can be controlled by the axial strain along the fiber grating. The polarization controlled configuration showed high stability because the reflected signals from the two identical gratings are dropped or added not by interference but by polarizations of the beams. We could add and drop not noly 1549.3nm signal channel(original gratings), but also 1550.1nm(tuned gratings) with PZT actuators and in both cases, we found that the rejection of adjacent channels was more than -26dB, and signal leakage at the gratings was less than -34dB.

  • GaAs 등 화합물 반도체는 그 표면구조가 아직 확립되어 있지 않고, 표면조건이 소자특성에 큰 영향을 미친다. 소자공정중 이온주입 공정은 self-aligned MESFET(Metal Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor) 제작에 필수적인 기술이나, 이온 주입시 수 $\AA$ 크기의 vacancy 등 격자결함이 발생하며 이들 결함을 제어할 수 있는 기술이 필요하다. 에너지 가변 양전자 소멸기술은 표면에서 $1\mum$정도내에 존재하는 vacancy 형태의 격자결함을 감지해 낼 수 있으며 이들 격자결함의 depth profiling을 할 수 있는 기술이다. 본 고에서는 에너지 가변 양전자 소멸기술의 원리 및 최근 연구결과에 대해서 살펴보기로 한다.

  • In this paper, we analyzed tuning characteristics of the widely tunable SGDFB laser diode integrated with SGDBR. The improved time-domain model is used to analyse the laser diode. From the numerical analysis, the length of phase control region in the SGDFB section influences on the output power and the tuning range. Also, it was confirmed that the tuning range is affected by the length of the laser diode, the residual reflectivity at the facet, and the position of the facet.

  • For the first time to our knowledge we have developed compact mechanically-induced long-period fiber grating devices which have an excellent tunability in the center wavelength and the depth of the notch. The compactness and ease to tune allow us to include them in other optical devices or systems. The devices were characterized by measuring their transmission spectra with different grating periods and applied pressures. We have also demonstrated the EDFA gain flattening using the mechanically-induced long-period fiber grating devices.

  • In this paper, a tunable fiber feedback laser based on the use of Sagnac loop filter and fiber Bragg grating (FBG) is proposed. The Sagnac loop filter using a high birefringence fiber provides precise 0.33-nm channel spacing as a multi-wavelength grid filter. Ni-Cr wire wound on the FBG is useful to induce the thermo-optic effect of the fiber. Two types of FBG structures, which have a different length of wire, are demonstrated to show the wavelength shift and separation. To tune FBG by resistant heat, some current is supplied into the wire. When the wavelength matched with one of the cavity modes of Sagnac loop filter, the mode-locked lasing is occurred. The electrical power sensitivity of the resonant wavelength is measured to 1.75pm/mW. This laser configuration can be applied the electrical power system for monitoring the power fluctuation.

  • In this paper, we propose a new tunable laser diode structure. The laser diode consists of a sampled-grating distributed feedback laser diode monolithically integrated with a sampled-grating distributed-Brags-Reflector. For a specific design, the possibility of continuous/discrete wavelength tuning over 27nm is confirmed by a numerical analysis using a split-step time domain model. Because the laser diode can be directly coupled with optical fiber without the intervention of the passive section, the laser diode exhibits higher output power than the conventional laser diode.

  • In this paper, a novel wavelength selectable multi-channel OADM(Optical Add/Drop Multiplexers) is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The proposed OADM drops simultaneously more than one channel among many channels with small wavelength tuning by using one sampled grating and FBGs, Interchannel crosstalk (or interchannel rejection ratio) better than 20[dB] has been shown experimentally.
