Depression is the most common and widespread mood disorder. About 20% of the population might suffer a major, incapacitating episode of depression during their lifetime. This disorder can be classified into two types: major depressive disorders and bipolar disorder. Since pharmaceutical treatments are different according to types of depression disorders, correct and fast classification is quite critical for depression patients. Yet, classical statistical method, such as minnesota multiphasic personality inventory (MMPI), have some difficulties in applying to depression patients, because the patients suffer from concentration. We used electroencephalogram (EEG) analysis method fer classification of depression. We extracted nonlinearity of information flows between channels and estimated approximate entropy (ApEn) for the EEG at each channel. Using these attributes, we applied two types of data mining classification methods: decision tree and possibilistic support vector machines (PSVM). We found that decision tree showed 85.19% accuracy and PSVM exhibited 77.78% accuracy for classification of depression, 30 patients with major depressive disorder and 24 patients having bipolar disorder.

PACS(Picture Archiving Communication System)를 통해 관리되는 의료 영상 자료들은 요청에 따라 저장, 검색 및 전송을 수행하여 신속한 의료 서비스를 가능하게 한다. 그리하여 본 논문에서는 서포트 벡터 머신 기반의 HOG(Histogram of Oriented Gradients) 특징 벡터를 이용하여 X-ray와 MRI(Magnetic Resonance Imaging) 사진을 분류하고 의료 영상 분류의 가능성을 제시하는 것을 목표로 한다.

Traffic classification plays an important role in traffic management. To traditional methods, P2P and encryption traffic may become a problem. Support Vector Machine (SVM) is a useful classification tool which is able to overcome the traditional bottleneck. The main disadvantage of SVM algorithms is that it's time-consuming to train large data set because of the quadratic programming (QP) problem. However, the useful support vectors are only a small part of the whole data. If we can discard the useless vectors before training, we are able to save time and keep accuracy. In this article, we discussed the feasibility to remove the useless vectors through a sequential method to accelerate training speed when dealing with large scale data.

The perovskite solar cell is an active part of research in renewable energy fields such as solar energy, wind, hydroelectric power, marine energy, bioenergy, and hydrogen energy to replace fossil fuels such as oil, coal, and natural gas, which will gradually disappear as power demand increases due to the increase in use of the Internet of Things and Virtual environments due to the 4th industrial revolution. The perovskite solar cell is a solar cell device using an organic-inorganic hybrid material having a perovskite structure, and has advantages of replacing existing silicon solar cells with high efficiency, low cost solutions, and low temperature processes. In order to optimize the light absorption layer thin film predicted by the existing empirical method, reliability must be verified through device characteristics evaluation. However, since it costs a lot to evaluate the characteristics of the light-absorbing layer thin film device, the number of tests is limited. In order to solve this problem, the development and applicability of a clear and valid model using machine learning or artificial intelligence model as an auxiliary means for optimizing the light absorption layer thin film are considered infinite. In this study, to estimate the light absorption layer thin-film optimization of perovskite solar cells, the regression models of the support vector machine's linear kernel, R.B.F kernel, polynomial kernel, and sigmoid kernel were compared to verify the accuracy difference for each kernel function.

Valve internal leakage is caused by damage to the internal parts of the valve, resulting in accidents and shutdowns of the piping system. This study investigated the possibility of a real-time leak detection method using the acoustic emission (AE) signal generated from the piping system during the internal leakage of a butterfly valve. Datasets of raw time-domain AE signals were collected and postprocessed for each operation mode of the valve in a systematic manner to develop a data-driven model for the detection and classification of internal leakage, by applying machine learning algorithms. The aim of this study was to determine whether it is possible to treat leak detection as a classification problem by applying two classification algorithms: support vector machine (SVM) and convolutional neural network (CNN). The results showed different performances for the algorithms and datasets used. The SVM-based binary classification models, based on feature extraction of data, achieved an overall accuracy of 83% to 90%, while in the case of a multiple classification model, the accuracy was reduced to 66%. By contrast, the CNN-based classification model achieved an accuracy of 99.85%, which is superior to those of any other models based on the SVM algorithm. The results revealed that the SVM classification model requires effective feature extraction of the AE signals to improve the accuracy of multi-class classification. Moreover, the CNN-based classification can be a promising approach to detect both leakage and valve opening as long as the performance of the processor does not degrade.
Accurate forecasting enables to effectively prepare for future phenomenon. Especially, meteorological phenomenon is closely related with human life, and it can prevent from damage such as human life and property through forecasting of weather and disaster that can occur. To respond quickly and effectively to oil spill accidents, it is important to accurately predict the movement of oil spills and the weather in the surrounding waters. In this paper, we selected four representative machine learning techniques: support vector machine, Gaussian process, multilayer perceptron, and radial basis function network that have shown good performance and predictability in the previous studies related to oil spill detection and prediction in meteorology such as wind, rainfall and ozone. we suggest the applicability of oil spill prediction model based on machine learning.

One of the main reasons for serious road accidents is driving while drowsy. For this reason, drowsiness detection and warning system for drivers has recently become a very important issue. Monitoring physiological signals provides the possibility of detecting features of drowsiness and fatigue of drivers. One of the effective signals is to measure electroencephalogram (EEG) signals and electrooculogram (EOG) signals. The aim of this study is to extract drowsiness-related features from a set of EEG signals and to classify the features into three states: alertness, drowsiness, sleepiness. This paper proposes a drowsiness detection system using Linear Predictive Coding (LPC) coefficients and Support Vector Machine (SVM). Samples of EEG data from each predefined state were used to train the SVM program by using the proposed feature extraction algorithms. The trained SVM program was tested on unclassified EEG data and subsequently reviewed according to manual classification. The classification rate of the proposed system is over 96.5% for only very small number of samples (250ms, 64 samples). Therefore, it can be applied to real driving incident situation that can occur for a split second.

Fatigue lowers an individual's ability and makes it difficult to perform work. As fatigue accumulates, concentration decreases and thus the possibility of causing a safety accident increases. Awareness of fatigue is subjective, but it is necessary to quantitatively measure the level of fatigue in the actual field. In previous studies, it was proposed to measure the level of fatigue by expert judgment by adding objective indicators such as bio-signal analysis to subjective evaluations such as multidisciplinary fatigue scales. However this method is difficult to evaluate fatigue in real time in daily life. This paper is a study on the fatigue classification model that determines the fatigue level of workers in real time using speech data recorded in the field. Machine learning models such as logistic classification, support vector machine, and random forest are trained using speech data collected in the field. The performance evaluation showed good performance with accuracy of 0.677 to 0.758, of which logistic classification showed the best performance. From the experimental results, it can be seen that it is possible to classify the fatigue level using speech signals.
