  • Variation of the catches and fishing grounds, and spawning ecology of Lophius litulon caught by large staw net were investigated from following as ; L. litulon caught through the year, and the peak in catches showed on January in winter, and the lowest catches showed on August in summer. The fishing grounds of L. litulon were located in the Yellow Sea and the East China Sea. And the main fishing ground was formed in the adjacent waters of Ilhyang-cho, where catches and CPUE were more than 50 M/T, 5 kg/haul, respectively, and the range of coefficient of variation(C.V) was 0.6~0.7. The spawning season of L. litulon was on March and April, when spawning area was formed in waters between Ilhyang-Cho and Cheju-Do. The fishing grounds distribution of L. litulon was obviously different with seasonal variation. Namely, in winter, the fishing grounds were mainly formed in the western waters of Cheju-Do, and on March and April( in spawning season), the fishing grounds were densely formed in the adjacent waters of Ilhyang-Cho, and after May, the fishing grounds were widely dispersed towards in the Yellow Sea and the East China Sea with temperature upgrade.

  • Objective:To find out the optimal assessment that can relieve amenorrhea associated with risperidone. Methods:Sixteen female outpatients who have taken risperidone for more than 3 months reported voluntarily amenorrhea during Nov 2001 to May 2002. Since the reports of the amenorrhea, the resolution of amenorrhea has been prospectively followed during the next six months. The dosage of risperidone was reduced or discontinued in nine of sixteen patients, while risperidone was switched to olanzapine or quetiapine in other 7 patients according to the clinician's decision. Results:Fourteen of 16 patients showed higher levels of prolactin than normal level. Five patients of the risperidone-reduction group recovered from the amenorrhea while all subjects of the drug-switch group recovered. The resolved patients of the former group recovered from amenorrhea in the dosage below 3mg per day of risperidone. Two patients of the risperidone-reduction group were dropped out during the reduction. Conclusion:These findings suggest that risperidone-induced amenorrhea may be alleviated by reducing dosage to less 3mg per day(including discontinuation) or by switching to other antipsychotic drugs. Whether we would choose which method depends on patient's clinical status, diagnosis, and dose of medication and so on.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate health promoting life-style(HPLS) and its predictors by menstrual status among middle-aged women. The HPLS was conceptualized to have six domains such as self-actualization, responsibility for health, nutrition, exercise, interpersonal relationships, and stress control. Those predictors included three sociodemographic factors and five cognitive factors. Menstrual status was classified into three stages : regular menstrual(premenopausal), menopausal, and postmenopausal stages. Data were collected from 240 women between 30 and 59 years through self-reported questionnaires. Chi-square test, ANOVA, and stepwise multiple regression techniques were used to analyze the data. The results are summarized as follows : 1. The HPLS activities, when aggregated, were not statistically different across the three groups. The activities of the domains of interpersonal relationships and self-actualization were higher then those of other domains. On the other hand, the activities of the domains of exercise and responsibility for health were lower than those of the other domains. 2. The predictors explained 27.2%, 43.8%, and 41.6% of the variance of HPLS in the regular menstrual, the menopausal, and the postmenopausal groups, respectively. 3. In the regular menstrual group, total HPLS was significantly predicted by monthly income, family support, number of family members and education level at the .05 level in the HPLS. 4. In the menopausal group was significantly predicted by self efficacy. 5. The HPLS activities of the postmenopausal group were significantly predicted by family support, self efficacy, and monthly income at the .05 level in the HPLS.

  • Purpose: This study was carried out to identify premenstrual discomforts and coping patterns and their effects. Method: The participants of this study were 297 female university students in C area. The Menstrual Discomfort Questionaire (MDQ) and coping method lists were used as measurement tools. Results: There were significant differences premenstrual discomforts according to age (F=5.76, p=.003) and according to health condition (F=3.43, p=.034). The mean scores of the sub-categorical factors of premenstrual discomfort were 2.35 points for pain, 2.29 for instability and 2.25 for water retention. The worst symptoms among the subcategories of premenstrual discomfort were as follows: backache (M=2.68) in the pain subcategory, irritability (M=2.53) in the instability subcategory and swelling(M=2.40) in the water retention subcategory. Their common coping patterns were 'coping according to menstrual period', 'active behavioral coping' and 'evasional coping'. Frequently used coping methods were 'taking a rest and sleep (99.3%)' and 'taking a warm shower (86.2%)'. Effective coping methods were 'taking a rest and sleep (89.5%)' and 'taking a warm shower (87.1%)'. Conclusion: Most participants have their own coping pattern. Some methods were very effective to PMS but some were not effective to PMS. To manage PMS, effective coping methods should be encouraged for female university students. To keep up with effective coping, education and counseling should be continued. It is considered necessary to make the same research with a larger number of samples and more specified assessment.

  • Local administrative districts in Japan have extensively reformed over the last 10 years and have decreased by 40 percent. This study examines the process of the municipal mergers in Japan from the perspective of the politics of space, in addition to a focus on the formation of Tobichi (enclaves). The background and progress of municipal mergers in Japan revealed that the reformation of administrative districts progressed under 'restruction' rather than 'decentralization' to manage a financial crisis of government. As a result, the municipal mergers of Japan have progressed in spatiotemporal inequality. The municipal mergers of the study areas are analyzed in multi-dimensional spatial politics composed of financial and demographic properties, locationality, territoriality, placeness, and the politics of decision making. Administrative districts have a spatial property; the reformation of them should be considered with the specialty and generality of the region.

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to develop and test the validity and reliability of the Korean version of the Pre-Menstrual Coping Measure (PMCM-K). Methods: Translation of the PMCM-K was validated using forward-backward translation methods. The study was conducted as a cross-sectional survey from March 7 to April 30, 2016 and the data from a total of 362 young adult women were used for the final analysis. The content validity, construct validity and criterion-related validity were evaluated. The internal consistency was calculated to assess the reliability. Results: The PMCM-K consisted of five factors: premenstrual coping regarding avoiding harm, awareness and acceptance of premenstrual change, self-care, communicating, and adjusting energy, which all explained 62.0% of the total variance in PMCM-K. The total score of the PMCM-K showed a positive correlation with the shortened premenstrual assessment form (r=.50). The Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient was .94 for the overall instrument and .77-.93 for five factors. Conclusion: PMCM-K provides a valid and reliable scale for quantifying the ways of coping specific to a negative premenstrual change for Korean young adult women. The PMCM-K will play an important role as a way to gain a sense of agency in coping with premenstrual changes.

  • Purpose: This study is an explorative survey to examine emotional labor, stress, and premenstrual syndrome among hospital nurses and to examine relationships among them. Methods: Data were collected from 228 nurses working at hospitals using structured questionnaires from September to October, 2014. Data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0 by frequency, descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficient. Results: Score of emotional labor was different by work time per week (F=4.03, p=.019), and menstrual amount (F=5.18, p=.006). Level of stress was different by marital status (t=2.29, p=.023), pattern of work (t=-3.63, p<.001), work time per week (F=3.39, p=.035), regularity of menstrual cycle (t=-4.20, p<.001), and exercise frequency (F=4.28, p=.015). Scores of premenstrual syndrome were different by regularity of menstrual cycle (t=-3.18, p=.002), and menstrual amount (F=5.88, p=.003). Emotional labor was related with perceived stress (r=.40, p<.001) and premenstrual syndrome (r=.23, p<.001). Also, perceived stress was related with premenstrual syndrome (r=.33, p<.001). Conclusion: Nurses' emotional labor, stress, and premenstrual syndrome were higher than the average. Emotional labor was correlated with stress and premenstrual syndrome, premenstrual syndrome with stress. This study shows that it is necessary to understand these relationships and to search for nursing intervention to ease emotional labor, stress, and premenstrual syndrome.
