STORM, Urban Developer, SUSTAIN(System for Urban Stromwater Treatment, and Analysis INtegratration) 및 SWMM LID(Storm Wastewater Management Model LID) 등의 모형을 출시하고 실무에 적용하고 있다.

  • In order to make clear the mechanism forming the fishing ground of anchovy drag net in connection with water temperature, catch and oceanographic data for the years of 1970-1988 in the Southern Sea of Korea were analyzed. The annual catch of anchovy drag net was about 21,000M/T in 1970 but it was increasing largely so far 100,000M/T in recent years. The fishing season of anchovy drag net is the whole year beside the prohibition season established in aims to protect the spawning group of anchovy, and then in the best season of the period from July to December, the fishing ground is made up in the coastal area joining Yosu, Namhaedo and Bangeojin. There were some evidences that the fishing condition was controlled by the oceanographic condition, especially water temperature, that is, when there was large difference in water temperature between the south area of the Eastern Sea and the west area of the southern Sea and the thermocline is formed strongly in the larger less than 20m, the fishing condition was good. On the other hand, there was a very effective correlation between the catch(X) of anchovy spawning group in Spring by other fishing gears, mainly drift net and that(Y) of the little size of anchovy by drag net in Autumn, expressed by the relative equation, Y=62,246+1.3X, r=0.63.

  • Wind and flood damage caused by typhoons causes a lot of damage to the Korean Peninsula every year. In order to minimize damage, a preliminary analysis of damage estimation and evacuation routes is required for rapid decision-making. This study attempted to develop an analysis module that can provide necessary information according to the disaster stage. For use in the preparation stage, A function to check past typhoon routes and past damage information similar to typhoon routes heading north, a function to extract isolated dangerous areas, and a function to extract reservoir collapse areas were developed. For use in the early stages of response and recovery, a function to extract the expected flooding range considering the current flooding depth, a function to analyze expected damage information on population, buildings, farmland, and a function to provide evacuation information were included. In addition, an automated web map creation method was proposed to express the analysis results. The analysis function was developed and modularized based on Python open source, and the web display function was implemented based on JavaScript. The tools developed in this study are expected to be efficiently used for rapid decision-making in the early stages of monitoring against storm and flood damage.

  • Internet of thing becomes more active, many sensor devices are increasing. Sensors can use network wired network or use mobile communication network. From the viewpoint of the transmission rate, the mobile communication network can be roughly divided into two types of high-speed communication and low-speed communication. In the case of hundreds of millions of sensors in the mobile communication network, resources are wasted to use high-speed communication. Communication is required to reduce the transmission rate and appropriately allocate resources without wasting such resources. As the Internet of Thing has been activated, Narrowband Internet of Thing(NB-IoT), which is one of the low-power technologies in recent mobile communications, is in the spotlight from various companies. Currently, it can be seen that only NB-IoT or other low power consumption communication has the potential to be able to connect to the Internet with rapidly increasing sensor devices. In this paper, we designed and implemented a heater controller using Huawei NB-IoT communication Module, a server that collects controller information, and an application that allows default settings for devices. The main function of this system is to collect temperature and heater status and give it to the server, control the heater from the server, and set parameters for the heater to operate automatically. The system can be applied to places where wired communication is not established, such as road information, smart agriculture, and small reservoirs as well as heaters.

  • Alien invasive species are introduced with or without intent and spreading all over Korea. They are known to have negative effects on biodiversity such as economic and environmental damage and causing decrease or loss of native species. The habitats like wetland, reservoir and riverside are especially in danger of being invaded by alien species due to stress and disturbance. Therefore, Korea National Arboretum is steadily working on research and studies on managing alien invasive species. This research aims to collect basic information of Ludwigia peploides subsp. montevidensis (Spreng.) P.H. Raven which was found near riverside in Suwon-si and is concerned to become an invasive alien species. We expect the description, diagram and pictures of this taxon will be helpful for early detection and effective management.

  • Today, the most important factor affecting the quality of human life is thought to be due to the environment. The importance of environmental monitoring systems to improve human life and improve welfare as the magnitude of the damage increases year by year due to the rapid increase in the frequency of hail, typhoons, collapse of incisions, landslides, etc. Is increasing day by day. Among environmental problems, problems caused by water quality have a very high proportion, and as there is a growing concern that the scale of damage will increase when water pollution accidents occur due to urbanization and industrialization, the demand for social water safety nets is increasing. have. In the last 5 years, 259 cases of water pollution (Han River 99, Nakdong River 31, Geum River 25, Seomjin River and Yeongsan River 19, and 85 others) have occurred in the four major river basins. Caused damage. Therefore, it is required to establish a water quality environment management strategy system based on big data that can minimize the uncertainty of the water quality environment by expanding the target of water quality management from the current water quality management system centered on the four major rivers to small and medium-sized rivers, tributaries/branches, and reservoirs. In this paper, we intend to construct and analyze a water quality monitoring system based on big data that can present useful water quality environment information by analyzing the water quality information accumulated for a long time.

  • Along with the development of the fourth industry, the public sector has increasingly paid more attention to search using drones and real-time monitoring, for various goals. The drones are used and researched to complete a variety of searching and monitoring missions, including search for missing persons, security, coastal patrol and monitoring, speed enforcement, highway and urban traffic monitoring, fire and wildfire monitoring, monitoring of illegal fishing in reservoirs and protest rally monitoring. Police stations, fire departments and military authorities, however, concentrate on the hardware part, so there are little research on efficient communication systems for the real-time monitoring of data collected from high-performance resolution and infrared thermal imagining cameras, and analysis programs suitable for special missions. In order to increase the efficiency of drones with the searching mission, this paper, therefore, attempts to propose an image analysis technique to increase the precision of search by producing image data suitable for searching missions, based on images obtained from drones and provide the foundation for improving relevant policies and establishing proper platforms, based on actual field cases and experiments.

  • Humans and wild birds coexist in cities, where habitat fragmentation due to urbanization threatens the habitat and movement of birds. In this study, in order to identify landscape features associated with wild bird collide, we characterized landscape composition within a 500 m radius and points of wild bird carcasses in Suwon-city, South Korea. Dead birds were identified as having a Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) of 0.3, Normalized Difference Built-up Index (NDBI) of -0.05, and Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI) of -0.16 at the points of collide. And there were NDVI of 0.34, NDBI of -0.01, NDWI of -0.18, building height of 13.8 m, and soundproof wall length of 227.3 m within a radius of 500 m. Land cover type was dominated by grassland, used area, and bare land. In particular, the edges of urbanized areas, where apartments bordered forests, reservoirs, and golf courses, were identified as high-risk spaces. In order to minimize bird mortality risk in urban environments, the impact of changes to a vertical landscape should be reviewed from an environmental impact assessment approach. In addition, a preventive management plan that considers the temporal and spatial features that wild animals can safely avoid and adapt to in urbanized spaces should be prepared.

  • Plus tree selection is the essential first step in a tree improvement program. This study was carried out to select plus trees of black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia L.) for tree improvement in Korea. The candidate plus trees of black locust were selected from twenty-one places in the four provinces (Gangwon, Gyeonggi, Chungcheong and Gyeongsang) following comparison selection. The trees were examined for qualitative and quantitative traits of economic interest like tree height (H), diameter at breast height (DBH), clear bole height (CBH), stem straightness (SS), crown size (CS) and disease resistance. The 64 selected trees showed higher quality in growth characteristics than control trees. Average of height, DBH, CBH, SS and CS were 20.5 m, 31.1 cm, 10.1 m, 1.2 and 5.2 m respectively. In particular, it was shown that the growth characteristics were higher in Chungcheong population. The superiority percentage of selected candidate plus trees of black locust over their respective check trees ranged from 7.3% to 18.9% in height, 20.0% to 40.6% in DBH, 32.8% to 73.5% in CBH, 42.9% to 55.2% in SS and -11.1% to 9.4% in CS, respectively. The selected black locust will be useful in future tree breeding programs based on their clonal and progeny performance.

  • This research explored the relationship between the water quality issue of Wolji Pond (Anapji Pond) with the maintenance of the channel flow circulation system. The water supply and drainage system closely related to the circulation system of pond has been reviewed, rather than the existing water supply and drainage system that has been analyzed in previous studies. As a result of reviewing the water supply system, it has been learned that the water supply system on the southeastern shore of Wolji Pond, being the current water supply hole, has been connected to the east side garden facility (landscaping stone, curved waterway, storage facility of water) between the north and south fence and the waterway. This separate facility group seems to have been a subject of the investigation of the eastern side of Wolji Pond, with the landscaping stones having been identified in the 1920's survey drawings. The water supply facility on the southeastern shore, being the suspected water supply hole, seems to have some connection with the granite waterway remaining on the building site of Imhaejeon (臨海殿) on the southern side of Wolji Pond. It is inferred that it provides clean water, seeing that the slope towards the southwestern shore of Wolji Pond becomes lower, the landscaping stones have been placed in the filter area, and it is present in the 1920's survey drawings and the water supply hole survey drawing of 1975. The water drainage facility on the northern shore is composed of five stages. The functions of the wooden waterway and the rectangular stone water catchment facility seem not to be only for the water drainage of Wolji Pond. In light of the points that there are wood plugs in the wooden waterway and that there is a water catchment facility in the final stage, it is judged that the water of Balcheon Stream (撥川) may be charged in reverse according to this setup. Namely, the water could enter and exit in either direction in the water drainage facility on the northern shore It also seems that the supply to the wooden waterway could be opened and shut through the water catchment facility of rectangular stone group as well. The water drainage facility on the western shore is very similar to the water drainage facility on the northern shore, so it is difficult to avoid the belief that it existed during the Silla Dynasty, or it has been produced by imitating the water drainage facility on the northern shore at some future point in time. It seems to have functioned as the water drainage facility for the supply of agricultural water during the Joseon Dynasty. The water supply and drainage facilities in Wolji Pond have been understood as a systematized distribution network that has been intertwined organically with the facility of Donggung Palace, which was the center of the Silla capital. Water has been supplied to each facility group, including Wolji Pond, through this structure; it includes the drainage system connecting to the Namcheon River (南川) through the Balcheon Stream, which was an important canal of the capital center.
