  • Sasang-Medicine can classify all sympton with more simple classifying system than past Oriental-Medicine, because Sasang Byeon-Zeung(=classifying system of the sympton) separate by four clearly. The merit of this Sasang Byeon-Zeung can be seen more clearly on the part of the pathology of the expiratory-scattering and inspiratory-gathering of the Tae-Eum and Tae-Yang. On this view point, this thesis discussed the following subjects. 1. Investigate the theory of raising-falling and scattering-gathering developed in the Dongeui-Suse-Bowon. 2. Investigate the changes of the recognition of the Yang-Dog sympton and Jo-Yeol sympton argued as Interior-overheating-sympton of the Tae-Eum-In caused by liver's receiving heat. 3. Investigate the Yi-Je-Ma's view on the Eum-Yang in the argument of interior-overheating-sympton of the Tae-Eum-In caused by liver's receiving heat. As a result, the following conclusions were led to. 1. Dongeui-Suse-Bowon considers Spleen-Kidney has the couple motion of the raising Yang and falling Eum, and Liver-Lung has the couple motion of the expiratory-scattering and inspiratory-gathering. This theory of raising-falling and scattering-gathering is same as in the concept with the gathering. This theory of raising-falling and scattering-gathering is same as in the concept with the theory of raising-falling and floating-sinking of past Oriental-Medicine, but more consistently systematized in the pathology and prescription. 2. Dongeui-Suse-Bowon considers the Yang-Dog sympton and Jo-Yeol sympton as the interior-overheating-sympton of the Tae-Eum-In. As following the book, the fire of desire weeken the expiratory-scattering power of the lung, and deepen the shortage of the expiratory-scattering power comparison to the inspiratory-gathering power. Therfore the sympton can be treated by releasing ourselves from the desire and taking medicine strengthening the expiratory-scattering power. 3. In the early stage of the orintal medicine, they used prescriptions composed of So-Yang medicine and Tae-Eum medicine which can cool heat. Galgeun, Mawhang and Seungma were used in the age of Sanghanron, thereafter Jugoing's Jojung-Tang and Gongsin's Galgeunhaegi-Tang were developed as prescriptions of the interior-overheating-sympton of the Tae-Eum-In, and finally Tea-Uem-In Galgeunhaegi-Tang was settled by Yi-Je-Ma.

  • Objectives : The mechanism of Gegenjieji-tang from the Han chapter of Donguibogam was studied. Focus was on the wind medicinals which constituted a large part of the formula. Methods : Medical texts from which Gegenjieji-tang originated were searched in the Zhongyifangjidacidian with which application, composition, and treatment mechanism of the Gegenjieji-tang as written in medical texts such as the Donguibogam were compared. Based on related research and medical texts, it could be determined that many ingredients of the formula were wind medicinals as suggested by Li Dongyuan. The meaning of such composition was analyzed through texts such as the Piweilun, after which mechanism of the Gegenjieji-tang was examined. Results : Based on the Zhongyifangjidacidian, Gegenjieji-tang of the Donguibogam seems to have originated from the Chaigejiejitang of the Shanghanliushu, as medicinal composition and medical application written in texts such as the Donguibogam and Shanghanliushu, along with treatment mechanism, are found to be similar to each other. Gegenjieji-tang is applied to relieve the flesh and the Stomach Channel of pathogenic Qi. The formula includes gegen, chaihu, qianghu, and shengma, which are wind medicinals according to Li Dongyuan. Wind medicinals generally have the property of uplifting and dispersing Qi. The four aforementioned herbs relieve fire stagnation and relieve heat in the flesh and muscles. Conclusions : Based on the composition of the formula which includes the four herbs that uplifts and disperses Qi, and relieves fire stagnation, it could be understood that the Gegenjieji-tang has the effect of easing the flesh through loosening Qi stagnation. Gegenjieji-tang is not simply used to purge pathogenic Qi, but to communicate the bodily Qi ultimately easing the flesh.

  • Objectives : To compare the herbal ingredients of the prescriptions in 「Newly Selected Twenty-four Key Formulas applied to Tae-eumin(新定太陰人病應用要藥二十四方)」 chapter of the Shinchuk edition of the 『Donuisusebowon』 and those from the texts of the Four Great Doctors of the Jin Yuan period. Methods : The herbal ingredients of the 『Donuisusebowon』 and those from 『Huangdisuwen Xuanminglunfang(黃帝素問宣明論方)』, 『Lanshimicang(蘭室秘藏)』, 『Suwenbingji Qiyibaomingji(素問病機氣宜保命集)』, 『Shanghan Biaoben Xinfaleicui(傷寒標本心法類萃)』, 『Piweilun(脾胃論)』, 『Neiwai Shangbianhuolun(內外傷辨惑論)』, 『Shanghanzhige(傷寒直格)』, 『Shanghanxinyao(傷寒心要)』, 『Sanxiaolun(三消論)』 were entered into the database. Next, formulas which included the herbal combination pattern of Tae-eumin formula were determined. Results : Among the 27 Tae-eumin formulas including edited versions, those that showed similar pattern among those in the JinYuan texts were the following 12: Gegenjiejitang(葛根解肌湯), Reduohanshaotang(熱多寒少湯), Gegenchengqitang(葛根承氣湯), Gegentaichengqitang(葛根大承氣湯), Gegenshaochengqitang(葛根小承氣湯), Mahuangpobiaotang(麻黃發表湯), Bufeiyuantang(補肺元湯), Zaojiaodahuangtang(皂角大黃湯), Guadisan(瓜蒂散), Shexiangsan(麝香散), Shichangpuyuanzhisan(石菖蒲遠志散), Maimundongyuanzhisan(麥門冬遠志散). Conclusions : Based on the finding that 44.4% of the Shinchuk edition's Tae-eumin formula patterns could be found in the texts of the Four Masters, Dongmu's assertion that about half of the Tae-eumin formulas has been clarified by the doctors of the Song, Yuan, Ming eras could be understood as true.

  • 1. Backgrounds: There are a lack of comprehensive study on Taeeumin Exterior Heat syndrome diarrhea(表熱證泄瀉). Thus, The author examines the content of various literatures related to Tae-eumin Exterior Heat syndrome diarrhea. 2. Methods: Literature examination is used Lee, Je-ma's writings and Sasang Constitutional Medical doctor's writings. Syndrome examination is used Tae-eumin's study on Syndrome of DonguisusebowonGaboGu-bon("咸山沙村東醫壽世保元甲午舊本") and Donguisusebowon("東醫壽世保元") and treatises of the academic world. 3. Results: and Conclusions: 1) "Profuse sweating and reddish and difficult urination"(汗多而小便赤澁) is regard as Taeeumin Interior Febrile Disease(裏熱病). 2) There is no possibility of a misprint about Taeeumin Exterior Heat syndrome diarrhea. Taeeumin Exterior Heat syndrome diarrhea is engaged in both the Exterior and Interior(表裏俱病). 3) It is difficult to prescribe GalgeunHaegi-Tang(葛根解肌湯) instead of Galgeunnabokja-Tang(葛根蘿葍子湯). 4) Tae-eumin Exterior Heat syndrome diarrhea is formed in the early period and absorbed into Donguisusebowon ("東醫壽世保元") in the latter period. "Profuse sweating and reddish and difficult urination" is estimated to be added in the latter period.

  • 1. Objectives This paper was written in order to understand prescription's combination of Taeumin. 2. Methods We analysis prescription's combination of Taeumin through pathology and new prescription in Sinchukbon(辛丑本) of ${\ulcorner}$Dongyisusebowon${\lrcorner}$. 3. Results and Conclusions New prescription of Taeumin is combined with a few specific prescription. We analysis new prescription of the exterior disease and get the basic prescription that is Chobonkwon Taeummahwang-tang(太陰麻黃湯), Chobonkwon Saengmac-san(生脈散) and Gunyul ${\cdot}$ Euiin ${\cdot}$ Nabokja(乾栗 ${\cdot}$ 薏苡仁). And we analysis new prescription of the interior disease and get the basic prescription that is Jojung-tang(調中湯), Galgunhagi-tang(葛根解肌湯) and Isunggugo-hwan(二聖救苦丸) of old prescription. However, pharmacology of Eumhyulmogal is different from the other symptom and disease. That contain the pharmacology of Chungsimyunja-tang(淸心蓮子湯). We can't find Chungsimyunja-tang from the discussion of symptom and disease. So we can estimate that Chungsimyunja-tang belongs to the prescription of Eumhyulmogal.

  • Hantaviruses are found worldwide and are known to cause two serious and often fatal human disease: hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome(HFRS) and hantavirus pulmonary syndrome(HPS). The typical clinical prodrome consists of fever, chills, myalgia, headache, and gastrointestinal symptoms. Treatment usually involves maintenance of fluids, blood pressure, ventilation and electrolytes. We report a patient who had multisystem inflammatory symptom with Hantaan virus antibody positive accompanied by mild fever and myalgia. This case was diagnosed as HFRS. This patient was treated by Galgun hegi-tang. As a result of this treatment, symptoms were markedly improved.

  • Purpose : This study compares prescriptions in the 1901 edition of the Donguisusebowon (東醫壽世保元) and the 1901 edition of 24 Revised Tae-eum constitution prescriptions (新定太陰人病應用要藥二十四方) (1901PCDT) with medical herbs found in classical texts. This study also examines whether to include patterns which compose medical herbs for the person of Tae-eum constitution (太陰人). Method : The prescriptions for Tae-eum-in in the Shinchukbon and the ingredients of medical herbs of the prescriptions of the Complete Works of Zhang Jingyue (景岳全書), Secret Works of Universal Benefit (廣濟秘笈), Treasured Mirror of Eastern Medicine (東醫寶鑑), Comprised Edition for Formulas (方藥合編), Protecting Essence for Longevity (壽世保元), Introduction to Medicine (醫學入門), New Book for Saving People (濟衆新編 ENGLISH), and Compendium of Local Medicinals and Formulas (鄕藥集成方) were input into a database. The prescriptions were examined and combinations of medical herbs used to treat the person of Tae-eum constitution were noted. Result : Among the prescriptions for the person of Tae-eum constitution, similar examples of the 17 prescriptions of Kudzu Decoction to Relieve the Muscles (葛根解肌湯), Regulate the Stomach and Coordinate the Purity Decoction (調胃升淸湯), Clear the Heart and Lotus Pip Decoction (淸心蓮子湯), Decoction for Stabilizing Asthma with Ephedra (麻黃定喘湯), Profuse Heat and Sparse Cold Decoction (熱多寒少湯), Decoction for Coordinating Qi with Kudzu (葛根承氣湯), Major Decoction for Coordinating Qi with Kudzu (葛根大承氣湯), Minor Decoction for Coordinating Qi with Kudzu (葛根小承氣湯), Decoction for Dispersing the Exterior with Ephedra (麻黃發表湯), Boost the Lung Essence Decoction (補肺元湯), Major Supplementing Decoction with Deer Antler Velvet (鹿茸大補湯), Boosting Black Essence Pill (拱辰黑元丹), Honeylocust Fruit and Rhubarb Decoction (皂角大黃湯), Kudza and Duckweed Decoction (葛根浮萍湯), Sweet Flag and Polygala Powder (石菖蒲遠志散), Liriopis and Polygala Decoction Powder (麥門冬遠志散), and Cattle Gallstone Formula to Clear the Heart (牛黃淸心元) were found in important ancient literature and Dried Chestnut and Holotrichia Decoction (乾栗蠐螬湯) and Dried Chestnut and Tree of Heaven Root Bark Decoction (乾栗樗根皮湯) are the combination originally set by Lee Jema. Conclusion : Because 70.8% of the prescriptions in 1901PCDT could be found in literature which were pervasive in the period of the Joseon Dynasty (the period of Ming and Qing), it corresponds with Lee Jema's view that medical men in the Song, Yuan, and Ming Dynasties disclosed half of the prescriptions for Tae-eum person by studying these texts more.
