  • The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze the characteristics of seven major cooperative storage facilities for academic libraries in the U.S.A, Australia, and Scotland in order to provide a frame of reference for such a facility in Korea. Analyzed are unique characteristics of these storage facilities in relation to their physical facilities, uses and services for collections, participating organizations, ownership of resources, and integrated library management and access systems. Some objectives of operations and physical environments are shared by these storage facilities, and have some implications for the development of cooperative storage facilities in Korea.

  • The purpose of this study is to measure and evaluate the degree of the pain using tools such as faces, glasses, chips, and colors for 96 children in three general hospitals. The children preferred faces, glasses, chips and colors in order, and they preferred orange color for pain-free and black for intense pain. The pain score was significantly high with the children who did not have experience in hospital except colors tool in the difference by means of general characteristics(faces, glasses, chips; p<0.05). Faces, glasses, chips, colors tools are pain assessment tools which are easy simple to handle by children including family and medical personnel. We expect these tools will be used in many ways to assess pain according to a child's age in a clinical setting.

  • This paper dealt with the performance modeling of a low bypass turbofan engine for supersonic aircraft. The Pratt and Whitney F100-PW-229 engine has been employed for low bypass turbofan engine performance modeling. Generally, the complete commercially-classified informations concerning the engine are unknown. The components' generic characteristics and assumptions made in order to build the F100-PW-229 engine performance model using by the published data from the open literature as basic data are described. Through the comparison of engine performance model's analysis data using Gasturb11 with engine deck data showed that the engine performance model was evaluated to be properly constructed.

  • This paper presents a revised beamforming inversion method for ocean acoustic tomography. In the proposed inversion method, the relation between group velocity and phase velocity that are the characteristics of the waveguide is used for the inversion of perturbed sound speed profile. The group velocity and phase velocity can be expressed as a function of the travel time and arrival angle of the received signals that are analyzed by the beamforming signal processing. This paper illustrates the simulated results of inversion for the fluctuated sound speed profile of the East Korea Sea and we found the applicability of revised beamforming inversion method to range independent ocean.

  • Philosophical discussion and ethical approach have been crucial aspects in the rational decision-making of heritage conservation. This study analyses why and how they play an important role in determining the quality of conservation practice. It highlights the key concepts of conservation philosophy and ethics, as well as their relationship, in order to establish a constructive platform through which researchers may understand the role and importance of conservation philosophy and ethics. In conclusion, this study provides a set of recommendation for the government, academic experts, and conservators which will allow them to become actively involved in improving the quality of philosophical and ethical knowledge in the field of conservation.

  • The main contribution of this paper is to propose the integrated database schema from several research projects included in "The Next Generation New Technology for Rock-falling and Landsliding Project". Furthermore this paper describes the development of integrated standard database system for the slopes databases. We also develop and implement the global real time web service system in order to provide one-stop data service for the slopes. In this paper, the new integrated database paradigm for rock-fall and landsliding data is designed and proposed and also data management system is developed based on the global web service system.

  • In this paper, we present the return link ACM method to improve the link availability and system throughput for satellite communication service. Also, we describe the optimization of an algorithm for channel prediction using the LMS (Least Mean Square) adaptive filter and the MODCOD (Modulation & Code rate) decision. The simulation results show that the optimized filter taps and step-size of adaptive filter are 2 and 0.00026, respectively. And also confirms the required SNR margin for minimization of MODCOD decision error is 0.3dB.

  • Recently, with the pintech fever, competition among global IT companies in the mobile payment market is becoming more competitive. In this paper, we analyze the mobile payment technology trends. We describe the features, technical advantages and disadvantages for each mobile payment type using the short range communication and analyze the characteristics of each mobile payment services of the global market leader Apple, Samsung and Google has launched. Since the rapid growth in the mobile payment market is expected, the study of a variety of short range communication and security technology is considered to be necessary in order to provide more stable service.

  • The literature on Km women's history from ancient times to the end of the Japanese occupation is collected and analyzed The total number of documents treated in this paper is 369. The documents, all written by 2003 include books, theses for master's and Ph. D. degrees, journal articles, and digital papers on the Internet home pages. The results shows that the favored themes of the researchers were women's status, education, and arts. Other subjects include women's activities, daily life, biographies, and religion. The most preferred period was the Chosun Dynasty and the least preferred period was the Koryo Dynasty. The usual method of these documents is narrative. There are few attempts to compare women's history of Korea with that of other countries.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the predictors of subjective happiness of christian university freshman. The study was a cross-sectional descriptive survey. A self-report questionnaire was used to collect data from 232 freshmen in April, 2018. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and t-test with SPSS win 21.0. Significant predictors of subjective happiness included life satisfaction (β=.515, p<.001), perceived stress (β=-.164, p<.001), peer support (β=.162, p<.001), family support (β=.153, p<.001) and faith maturity (β=.150, p<.001). The regression model explained 70.3% of subjective happiness. Based on these results, effective happiness promotion programs focusing on stress management and build social support system and faith-training program are highly recommended to promote the improved quality of life among christian university freshman.
