Study on the Selection of Transport Route for Import-export Container Cargo based on the Environmental Cost (환경비용을 고려한 수출입컨테이너 화물의 운송경로 선택에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we investigate the selection of transport route for import-export container cargo based on the sacrifice model and environmental cost of transport route. At first, the sacrifice model, environmental cost of transport, the volumes and the transport share of import-export container cargo are investigated briefly. And next, the transport time and cost, the environmental cost which is caused by cargo transport are investigated for the transport of import-export container cargo from Busan Port to Seoul. And also we calculate the sacrifice of each route by using the sacrifice model including the environmental cost. Finally we decide the transport route of import-export container cargo by using the sacrifice of each transport route. From the research results, we confirm that the road transport share decreases and the coastal transport share increases when the environmental coast of transport is considered.

Temporal and Spatial Analysis of SST in the Northeast Asian Seas Using NOAA/AVHRR data (NOAA/AVHRR 자료에 의한 동북아시아해역 표층해수온의 시공간분석)

  • To study the spatial and temporal variations of sea surface temperature(SST) in the Northeast Asia sea during the period of 1985 to 2009. At first, the buoy data from Korea Meteorological Administration(KMA) and the satellite data have been matched up eight points. The root mean square error and the bias were increased towards the coastal shallow region. The study area which is divided 7 regions from Japan Meteorological Agency(JMA). We analyzed NOAA/AVHRR data by harmonic analysis which is comparison and analysis the center of the each regions. The mean SST varied between $8^{\circ}C$ to $26.0^{\circ}C$. The annual amplitude varied between $7^{\circ}C$ to $24^{\circ}C$. And the annual phase varied between end of July to end of August. Cross-correlation coefficients of mean SST, annual amplitude, and annual phase varied 0.57 to 0.85, -0.04 to 0.81 and 0.35 to 0.80 at all study area, respectively.

A study on the estimation of underwater shipping noise using automatic identification system data (선박자동식별장치 데이터를 이용한 수중 선박소음 추정 연구)

  • In port and coastal areas where ship traffic is frequent, ship noise dominantly influences underwater noise in low frequency band below 1 kHz. In this paper, we propose a modeling method to estimate the underwater shipping noise using the voyage information of ship observed in AIS (Automatic Identification System). For the purpose of ship noise modeling, the navigation information of the vessels operating in the southern part of Jeju was observed using AIS and underwater noise was measured by installing a hydrophone in the experimental area to verify the modeled ship noise. AIS data were used to model the noise level of ship and compared with measured underwater noise. The variation of noise level with time was found to be similar, and the cause of the error was discussed. Through this study, it was confirmed that the noise level of ship can be estimated within 5 dB error range using AIS data.

Directions for the Improvement of Coastal Fisheries Management (연안어업의 관리제도 개선방향 - 어선어업 을 중심으로 -)

  • Reduction of fishing grounds, which was caused by the recent fisheries agreements between Korea, Japan, and China, Is Increasing the important of coastal fisheries. Korea's coastal fisheries, however, need special management measures owing to the following problems. First, there are too many fishing fleets even though fisheries resources are continuously decreasing. Despite the fact that some of the fishing vessels have been scrapped, there still remain too many vessels and especially approximately 27,000 vessels increased during 1997-1998. Second, as the condition of fisheries resources changed radically, many fishermen are fishing by methods which they were not permitted to. These fishing methods cannot be legally supported and so there is a huge gap between the system and the reality, Third, two or three licenses are given to each coastal fishing vessel because a single license cannot give sufficient income, but some of these are formally acquired. So under such circumstances, efficient management of fisheries is impossible. Fourth, absence of demarcation among regions and industries is causing frequent conflicts and there are concerns about the decreasing fisheries resources due to competitive fishing practices. Therefore, considering the above mentioned problems Korea's coastal fisheries management should be developed as the following: First, new licenses should be limited while expanding the buy-back program. The government is currently planning to limit new licenses by introducing the fixed license number system in coastal fisheries but is somewhat passive about the buy-back program. Second, fisheries management which is based on self-regulation should be established. In order to increase the effect of fisheries management, the fishermen should decide by themselves the fish and fishing methods they would be exploiting and directly regulate them. Third, it is necessary to integrate the licenses of coastal fisheries. Since coastal fisheries management through the license system has distinct limitations, it is preferable to unify risking licenses and let the fishermen decide specific matters on their own. Finally, it is necessary to establish boundaries among the regions and industries. Joint fishing areas among regions(cities and provinces) should be established and fishing in other areas should be permitted on condition of paying the required fees. On the other hand, it is also necessary to permit coastal fishing only within certain distances.

The Removal Rates of the Constituents of Litters in the Littoral Grassland Ecosystems in the Lake Paldangho Ⅶ.Cadmium and Lead (팔당호 연안대 초지생태계에서 낙엽 구성성분의 유실률 Ⅶ.카드뮴과 납)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the removal rates of Cd and Pb of the litters in the Phragmites communis. Miscanthus sacchariflorus, Typha angustata, Scirpus tabernaemontani grassland aquatic ecosystem in the lake Paldangho. The annual production of Cd and Pb were 0.005g /$m^2$ , 0.21g /$m^2$in P. commumis, 0.004g /$m^2$, O.08g /$m^2$ in M. sacchariflorus, 0.023g /$m^2$, 0.42g /$m^2$ in T. angustata and 0.020g /$m^2$, 0.23g /$m^2$ in S. tabernaemontani respectively. The removal rates of Cd and Pb of the litters were 0.83, 0.85 in P. communis. 0.36, 0.54 in M. sacchariflorus, 0.61, 0.51 in T. angustata and 0.76, 0.71 in S. tabernaemontani, respectively. The times required to decay 50, 95, 99 percent of the steady state level and turnover values of cadmium on the grassland floor were 0.83, 3,60, 6.00 years in P. communis. 1.90, 8.24, 13.74 years in M.sacchariflorus, 1.15, 4.96, 8.27 years in T. angustata and 0.91, 3.95, 6.58 years in S. tabernaemontani The times required to decay 50, 95, 99 percent of the steady state level and turnover values of lead on the grassland floor were 0.81, 3.51, 5.86 years in P. communis. 1.28, 5.56, 9.26 years in M. sacchariflorus, 1.37, 5.94, 9.90 years in T. angustata and 0.97, 4.21, 7.02 years in S. tabernaemontani.   • This investigation was carried out to reveal the removal rates of Ca, Mg and Na among the constituents of the litters in Phragmites communis Miscanthus sacchariflorus, Typha augustata and Scirpus tabernaemontani ecosystems in the lake Paldangho. The removal constants of Ca, Mg and Na were determined by the mathematical model and the time required to decay to any percentage of each constituent was calculated by using this model. The results obtained in this study can he abstracted as follows; The removal constants of Ca, Mg and Na of the litters were 0.91, 0.86 and 0.71 in Phragmites communis, 0.64, 0.62, and 0.50 in Miscanthus sacchariflorus, 0.66, 0.28, and 0.56 in Typha angustata and 0.40, 0.55 and 0.63 in Scirpus tabernaemontani, respectively. These values of each constituent in Phragmites communis are the highest among the compared species and in each species, Ca among the studied constituent is higher than the others. The half times of Ca, Mg and Na required for the removal or accumulation of the litters on the grassland floor were 0.76, 0.80 and 0.98 years in Phragmites communis, 1.08, 1.12 and 1.39 years in Miscanthus sacehariflorus 1.05, 2.47 and 1.24 years in Typha angustata and 1.73, 1.26 and 1.10 years in Scirpus tabernaemontani, respectively.   • It has generally used the burial method for the protection methods of submarine cable. Especially in Korea, It has used the protection methods of various types according to fisheries and fishing implements. Present day, All the protection methods-burial, continuous concrete mattress, cast iron pipes, U-duct, concrete bags, Rock Berm, mortar bags, FCM apply to the submarine cable, but these methods just focus on the safety of submarine cable against the external damages not the characteristics of ocean environment and the protection of environment. This research is going to present the protection methods of submarine cable according as the characteristics of ocean environment-external damages, depth of water, seabed condition, wave power and the protection of environment.

A High-resolution Seismic Survey on the Abandoned Tidal Flat in Shihwa Lake (시화호내 과거 조간대에서의 고해상 탄성파 탐사)

  • A high-resolution seismic survey was conducted on the abandoned tidal flat in Shihwa Lake on the west coast of Korea. A portable vibrator was used as a seismic source and 217 shot gathers with 48-channel system were acquired. F-k filtering, residual static corrections and post-stack frequency filtering are found to be useful for signal enhancement. The overburden is divided into two seismic depositional units. Unit I is deposited in tidal environment characterized by parallel and high continuity reflection pattern. This unit comprises a dry layer (Unit Ia) and a wet layer (Unit Ib) having averagely 5 and 15 meters thick, respectively. Unit II unconformably overlain by Unit I exhibits discontinuity and hummocky reflection pattern, indicating complex channel-fill sediments in estuary. The maximum thickness of this unit is approximately 20 meter. Acoustic basement is considered as Precambrian granitic gneiss occurred in the surrounding area.

  • During the last few years recommendations or regulations concerning permissible noise levels on shirts have been issued by the authorities in most countries. For these reasons the need for useful and accurate noise prediction computer programs has been emphasized. A noise prediction program can make it possible to find the most economical solution to achieve a certain noise requirement. This paper attempts to develop a noise prediction computer program using statistical energy analysis(SEA). In this paper, the SEA is used to predict the sound transmission loss for airborne noise and the vibration amplitude of the panel consisting of ship spaces such as floor, wall, and ceiling for structureborne noise. And in order to verify the prediction, a small passenger vessel, G/T120 tons, is selected. It has been shown that the prediction is capable of giving results in good practical agreement with measurements and therefore it is useful for predicting the nolle levels in ships and establishing the countermeasures at early design stage.

The Economic Impacts of the Depreciation of Korean Won on the Production Costs of the Korean Logistics Industry (환율급등이 국내물류산업의 생산비에 미치는 파급효과 분석)

  • The short-term impact of the recent depreciation of Korean Won on the cost of the Korean logistics industry, which was caused by the global liquidity crisis began from the American financial market in 2007, is analyzed through the inter-industry analysis. The input-output data of the 2007 benchmark input-output accounts table which was most recently published by the Bank of Korea in 2009 have been utilized for the analysis. The results show that the cost of the Korean logistics industry as a whole rises 4.24% when the Korean exchange rate is depreciated by 10%. The impact of the depreciation of Korean exchange rate on the cost of the Korean logistics industry for December, 2007 ~ December, 2008 is estimated to be about 31.1 billion Won. If the Korean logistics companies should cover the rising cost of 11.7 billion Won only through sales promotion, then they should sell 1.9 times as much their current sales amount, which means 101.6 billion Won's worth of sales should be made.
