Application of Analytic Hierarchy Process for Relative Importance Determination of Internet of Things Standardization (사물인터넷 표준화의 상대적 중요도 결정을 위한 계층분석방법 응용)

  • As one of recent issues in the information and communication industry, internet of things has attracted attention to provide intelligent infrastructure services which connect and share data and information between real and virtual world. According to the development of these internet of things technologies, types of machines, telecommunication devices, and terminals are increasing tremendously. In this situation, connectivity and interoperability between internet of things components are important issues to build a hyper connected society. To visualize this society, it is important to set up and develop information and communication technology (ICT) standards among stakeholders. However, under limited budget and human resources, it is essential to rank standardization work items for setting standards with respect to efficiency. The purpose of this study is to provide a method for setting standardization strategies within group decision making. As a multi-criteria group decision making tool, analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is adopted and applied to determine the priorities of setting work items. The proposed method first defines decision making problem with objective, criteria, and alternatives which produces a hierarchy consisting of upper and lower criteria. Then, pairwise comparisons of academy and public sector experts are performed with respect to their relative meaning and importance. Individual surveys of expert groups are collected and summarized to determine relative criteria importance measures. Furthermore, to deliver reliable importance criteria measures, differences between academy and public sector expert groups are compared and tested using Mann-Whitney non-parametric test. The results are illustrated for useful guidelines to practical group decision making in standardization strategy establishments.

A Study on the Evaluation of Improvement Factors of Tug Services in Korea (우리나라 예선 서비스 개선요인 평가에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to prioritize improvement factors of the tug services in terms of the structural problem, operating system and the present condition of the tug at each port in Korea. It was identified that the tug operating system needs to be mostly improved among the improvement factors of the tug services in Korea. In addition, free contract and rotating system were found to be important factors which need to be improved comparing to other factors such as service quality, tug rules, operating practices of council for tug operation and customer factor. The service attitude of the tug companies was regarded as an important element. And the tug entry system appeared to be an important item. Finally, laws relating to tug business needs to be revised which allow new tug companies enter into the market. As the result of AHP analysis for tug systems and service improvement factors, some fundamental changes of tug operation systems are urgently needed.

  • Recently, software quality evaluation based on ISO/IEC 9126 and ISO/IEC 14598 has been widely accepted in various areas. However, these standards for software quality do not provide practical guidelines to apply the quality model and the evaluation process of software product=5. And the qualify management in most software projects has been conducted by managing defects without applying the standards for software qualify. Thus, we present a quantitative quality evaluation approach of artifacts in the Component Based Development (CBD). Particularly, our evaluation approach allows most of the standard evaluation process and adopts a quantitative quality model which uses the weights of quality characteristics obtained through carefully selected questionnaires for stakeholder and Analytic Hierarchical Process(AHP). Moreover, we have also examined the proposed evaluation approach with applying the checklists for the artifacts of the CBD to a small-scale software project. As a result, we believe that the proposed approach will be helpful for acquiring the high quality software.

  • Knowledge management was introduced as a new strategy in many construction companies aiming at paradigm shift since Asian financial Crisis. However, intensive focusing on acquiring and sharing knowledge couldn't keep pace with the primary goal. Increasing financial profits. That is because clear strategic process and performance measurement are absent in time of the introduction of knowledge management. Based on case analysis in domestic construction industry, this research work presents an alternative plan on Balanced Scorecard(BSC) model. The objective of this study is to develop a model of strategic performance measurement in knowledge management by sorting and grasping core operational knowledge, which can draw key performance indicators accompanied by knowledge map from case study.

  • The integration of Quality Circles and Six-Sigma has gained attentions for the attainment of enhanced customer satisfaction, costs reduction, and improved business performance. The purpose of this paper is to verify the benefit from the integration of Quality Circles and Six-Sigma by applying the integrated process for an alcohol manufacturing line. In the integrated process, we used the first three steps of Six-Sigma of Define, Measure, and Analyze(D-M-A) and then applied the concept of Quality Circle, which has good performance in the Improvement and Control(I-C) process. For the selection of the theme of quality circles, Analytic Hierarch Process(AHP) is used, and we also employed the experimental design, which is designed to find an optimal operating condition. Furthermore, the results of the economic analysis confirm that the integration process would be successful in reducing the incidence of defects and the quality cost.

  • The operation of the theater's seasonal program is an important service for the stability of theater management and audience development. However, the domestic theater season system has been around for 20 years, but still has not been established in practice compared to overseas theaters, and academic research is also lacking. Therefore, in this study, the government wanted to draw out elements of 'season system' program services and additional services provided by domestic and foreign theaters, and to calculate the importance of each attribute to suggest a plan to operate a seasonal service suitable for the actual conditions in Korea. Thus, through the analysis of seven theater seasonal programs, a study model consisting of two higher, seven median and 23 lower factors was derived. Based on this survey, 14 theater experts were asked to compare the priorities of each factor. Studies have shown that the composition of packages and works in program services is important, and that monetary factors are important in additional services. In other words, an important element in the seasonal system is judged to be the need to upgrade program services and selectively operate a small number of additional services with large audience needs to attract audiences.

  • As more and more patents for new technology are issued, companies and organizations are interested in managing patents systematically so that the patents should be a valuable asset rather than burden. In this study we propose the method to select superior patents effectively using QFD. First, what firms want in the patents that have long been accumulated is identified and appropriate patent indices are derived to illustrate how the firm's requirements are satisfied. Then the importance of firm's requirements and their relationship with patent indices are determined through AHP's pairwise comparison. Finally, the results are analyzed and demonstrated with the case of a real company, which shows that patents are sorted out well according to the firm's requirements.

  • The objective of this study is to establish a direction for smart aquaculture technology development in the Republic of Korea through patent analysis and a demand survey of experts and fishermen. The patent analysis was conducted using Wisdomain for patents in the Republic of Korea, the United States of America, Europe, Japan, and China from 2005 to 2016. This study conducted an analytic hierarchy process (AHP) survey of experts in the fields of fishery, marine, and ICT among others. Furthermore, it carried out a demand survey of 85 fishermen in Jeonnam and Jeju. The smart aquaculture technology market has moderately grown in the Republic of Korea until recently, and it is expected to expand further because of the expansion of national investment in the smart aquaculture field. The priority evaluation results for developing smart aquaculture technology show that land-based aquaculture has a higher priority than sea-based aquaculture. Of the fishermen that responded, 84% said that they need to introduce smart aquaculture technology to solve problems in the supply and demand of manpower, labor cost, and maintenance expenses. The direction of development should lie in developing biological and environment-based standard aquaculture models to spread high-tech systems and vitalize the aquaculture industry. This requires continual training of human resources in the smart aquaculture field.

  • Recently, the use of nanotechnology in products is constantly expanding, and the problems on human health hazard has emerged as a major issue. A nanomaterials regulatory policy on the products is urgently required. This study analyzed the introduction of regulatory policies of nanomaterials contained in industrial products. In this study, the AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) method was applied and three regulatory policies were evaluated to analyze the validity of the introduction of a nanomaterials regulatory policy. To select the optimal regulatory policy, the policy evaluation criteria were set as enforcement (effectiveness), economics, acceptability, and protection. For the regulatory policies, self-regulation, product labelling, and enforced registration were introduced and evaluated as the regulatory policies, and product labelling was selected as the optimal regulatory policy.

  • Cyber Attack have evolved more and more in recent years. One of the best countermeasure to counter this advanced and sophisticated cyber threat is to predict cyber attacks in advance. It requires a lot of information and effort to predict cyber threats. If we use Open Source Intelligence(OSINT), the core of recent information acquisition, we can predict cyber threats more accurately. In order to predict cyber threats using OSINT, it is necessary to establish a Database(DB) for cyber attacks from OSINT and to select factors that can evaluate cyber threats from the established DB. We are based on previous researches that built a cyber attack DB using data mining and analyzed the importance of core factors among accumulated DG factors by AHP technique. In this research, we present a method for quantifying cyber threats and propose a cyber threats prediction model based on artificial neural networks.
