The purpose of this descriptive study was to investigate the general knowledge and attitude of physical therapist to patient with HIV/AIDS. Many physical therapists are afraid of AIDS patients because they have a little information of AIDS and fear of HIV infection from AIDS patients at work site. This study was carried out from June to October in 2003 for collecting data. The 271 physical therapists volunteered for a this study and completed questionnaires. The findings of this study can be summarized as follows. 1)The knowledge of prevention of HIV/AIDS influences the attitude of physical therapists to patients with HIV/AIDS. 2)The knowledge of symptoms of HIV/AIDS influences the attitude of physical therapists to patients with HIV/AIDS. 3)The knowledge of transmission routes of HIV/AIDS influences the attitude of physical therapists to patients with HIV/AIDS. 4)84.9 percentage of participant in survey suggested college should have curriculum about HIV/AIDS. In conclusion, physical therapists with more knowledge of HIV/ADIS could positively treat HIV/AIDS patients.
Background: Physical activity and quality of life (QOL) influence the health status of older adults. Recently, the use of wearable devices to monitor physical activity has increased. Objects: This study examined the relationship between the amount of physical activity, measured using a wearable device, and QOL among older adults. Methods: In total, 71 older adults (aged ≥ 65 years) were enrolled. The amount of physical activity was measured using a wearable device with a wrist strap, and daily physical activity was classified according to intensity (sedentary, light, moderate, or very active). Self-reported QOL was evaluated using the Short Form 36 (SF-36) questionnaire. Pearson and Spearman correlation analyses were conducted to analyze parametric and non-parametric variables, respectively. The relationship between amount of daily physical activity and SF-36 scores was assessed. Results: The correlation analyses revealed positive correlations between the amount of moderate-intensity and very active physical activity (minutes/day) and SF-36 scores (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Physical activity of at least moderate intensity is associated with better QOL in older adults. Further studies are required to verify the effects of increased physical activity on QOL in older adults.

Purpose: This study assessed the current working conditions and job satisfaction on aquatic therapy performed by physical therapists in South Korea. Methods: A total of 139 (managers: 53, staff: 86) physical therapists participated in this survey (90 questionnaires) and the data were analyzed using the SPSS 21.0 Windows. Results: The retention conditions of aquatic therapy facilitation was high in the rehabilitation centers (or disabled living facilities) and rehabilitation hospitals. On the other hand, there were regional variations. The physical therapists in this field were likely to have limitations or restrictions of professional aquatic therapy education. The subjects showed a tendency for a career interruption during their fifth working year. The overall job satisfaction on aquatic therapy of physical therapists was high (managers: 94.3%, staff: 95.3%, p=0.276), but the work intensity was higher than the other parts of physical therapy and the relative reward was comparatively low (managers: 60.3%, staff: 66.3%, p=0.865). Conclusion: Based on this study, the current working conditions regarding aquatic therapy by physical therapists were assessed. These results will help enhance aquatic therapy and/or in aquatic therapy facilitation.
This study was carried out to recognize the understanding of high school teachers about physical therapist during September in 1988, The study population was comprised of 511 high school teachers who had lived in Seoul and Kyunggi Province. Mate teachers were $56\%$ and the rest of them were females. In age distribution $45.4\%$ of them belonged to the 3rd decade, in religion $36.2\%$ of them were Christians, and in their carrier $45.8\%$ of them were less then 5 years. The results obtained were as follows. 1. The high school teachers who knew about department of physical therapy is amounted to $62.6\%$ in male and $49.8\%$ in female. The high school teachers ($41.7\%$ in male and $38.6\%$ in female) considered that students aptitude was the most important thing to keep in mind in counselling those who wished to become physical therapists. There were difference in opinion between male and female teachers as to the counselling criteria (p<0.05). 2. The high school teachers who knew that the students would beemployed in sport center and health clubs after graduation amounted to $24.3\%$ in males and in general hospital to $27.1\%$ in female. There was significant difference in the knowledge for their field of employment between male and female teachers (p<0.05). 3. As to the effectiveness of the physical therapy, $41.3\%$ of male and $29.8\%$ of the female teachers responded to 'satisfactory', but indicating no statistical difference both sexes. 4. As for the attitude of physical therapiest, $43\%$ of them answered that kindness and service devotion were the prerequisite for them. There were statistical difference between male and female teachers in concepts about attitude (p<0.05). To the social level of physical therapist, majority of the teachers thought that physical therapist belong to moderate level in social class. 5. Those who considered that the physical therapy was necessary means for treatment of trauma amounted to $73\%$. The reason why teachers thought that physical therapy was not necessary was that it required too long period of time for the treatment. 6. Those who knew fully the job of physical therapist amounted to $55\%$ and the 55. $9\%$ knew that physical therapists work only at hospitals as the therapist and the rest of them misunderstood the job of physical therapist. 7. As for the academic background to be qualified as physical therapist, $76.2\%$ of them said that graduation of Junior College was required, $12.9\%$ graduation of Senior College and the rest of them had no ideas at all. There was no statistical difference between male and female teachers.
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of oral health status and oral health care to life. The subjects in this study were the patients who visited dental hospitals and clinics in several regions for seven months from March 2013. They got dental checkups, and a survey was conducted. The patients who received general treatment scored highest in Oral Health Impact Profile-14. Among the subfactors, the patients who received general treatment scored higher in functional limitation (8.27), physical pain (7.24), physical restrictions (7.90), social restrictions (7.79), physical limitations (8.14) and social difficulties (8.24). The patients who received orthodontic treatment scored higher in handicap (8.78). All the differences were statistically significant. As for gender gaps, the men scored higher in every factor. By age group, the older patients led a worse quality of life. By occupation, the homemakers mostly led a worse quality of life, and the patients who had no systemic diseases lived a better quality of life. All the differences were significant. Concerning self-rated health status and self-rated oral health state, the patients who found themselves to be in better health and in better oral health led a better quality of life. The differences were significant. Regarding oral health care, the patients who didn't get regular dental checkups and who could visit a dental clinic whenever they had a pain lived a better quality of life. The differences were significant. In terms of oral health status, a higher quality of life was found among the patients who had sound teeth, whose teeth received no sealant treatment, whose teeth received no filling therapy, who had no missing tooth, whose teeth received no prosthetic treatment and who had no dental implants teeth.

The objectives of this study were to identify the phenomena of school health nursing at schools in Korea and to contribute to building a school health domain of International Classification for Nursing Practice. A retrospective method was used in this study to develop ICNP during the period from July to October 200l. The procedure of the study involved choosing nursing phenomena using preliminary terms from the reports on the field of school health nursing practice documented by nursing students in 10 different nursing colleges. The detail procedures of the study were as follows. 1) Choosing nursing phenomena by using preliminary terms 2) Choosing the characteristics of school health nursing practice from the selected nursing phenomena 3) In order to make a consensus regarding the appropriate characteristics of phenomena. 15 study group members re-categorized the nursing phenomena through 5 times of cyber meetings and 3 times of formal meetings. 4) To verify each characteristic, 5 community nursing faculties and 25 school health nurses participated in the procedure to give scores on nursing characteristics. 5) Classification of the definite nursing phenomena and characteristics. Following the 5 step procedures, school health nursing phenomena were categorized into human and environmental domains. Human domains were classified into human behavioral and functional domains. Environmental domains were classified into physical and psychosocial domains. The essential characteristics of each phenomena were selected when it obtains the mean score of 3.0 or over at the related characteristics. The human behavioral domain consisted of 7 phenomena including risk for spinal disorder, inadequate dietary habit, inadequate weight control, smoking and substance abuse, inadequate stress management, inadequate sex related coping strategies and inadequate accident management. The human functional domain consisted of 6 phenomena including inadequate eye care and visual management, risk for respiratory disorder, inadequate dental health care, inappropriate infectious disease control, risk for gastrointestinal disorder, and lack of sexual identity. The physical environmental domain consisted of 6 phenomena including risk for incident at inside classroom, risk for incident at outside classroom, risk for incident around school, risk for exposure to hazardous facilities around school. inadequate garbage and disposal management, and inadequate physical environment for learning. The psychosocial domain included impaired social interaction at school. Each phenomenon was composed of 2 to 8 characteristics and all phenomena will include a total number of 85 characteristics. The phenomena of school health nursing in Korea partially confirmed school health architecture of ICNP. Further study on verification of school health nursing phenomena in Korea needs to be done to support the findings of this study through review of literature on nursing classifications or field studies.
The Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM) is an internationally widely used outcome measure. The aim of this study was to evaluate the structural properties of the Korean version of GMFM using the Rasch Model, with regard to scoring within rehabilitation centers in Korea. GMFM data for 206 children with cerebral palsy were collected from 11 outpatient rehabilitation facilities by 29 pediatric therapists. The Winsteps software was used to refine the rating scale. This study suggests that the scoring categories of the Korean version of the GMFM should be collapsed from 0 (subject does not initiate task), 1 (subject initiates task), 2 (subject partially completes task), 3 (subject completes task) to 0 (subject does not initiate task), 1 (subject initiates or partially completes task), 2 (subject completes task) for better accuracy in estimating the gross motor function of children with cerebral palsy.
The purpose of this study was to investigate college students' psychological and physical wellbeing, by examining their attachment, self-esteem, loneliness, and life satisfaction. The questionnaire study was conducted on 171 college students. The suggested path model was supported tv serial regression analyses. Attachment experiences in childhood and attachment style with peer had an impact on the college students' self-esteem, which in turn affected loneliness and life satisfaction, which then affected individual health(psychological and physical wellbeing).
The purpose of this study was evaluate a isometric shoulder mused strength of normal college student in two groups. 40 college student between the age of $20,47\pm1.96$, weight of $58,50\pm6.78Kg,\;height\;of\;161.87\pm4.91Cm$ were studied. Isometric shoulder strenght was measured by Nicholas hand-held dynamometer far Boxers, extensors, abductors, adductors, external rotators. and internal rotators of shoulders. Testing was Performed with the subject supine according to the modified Bohannon's method and Jae-Wok Kim's method.
The object of this study were twofold, namely, to study on (1) effect of using ultrasound therapy for curing warts (2) any relation between a cure for warts and onset of warts, as well as subject age. Our subjects, composed of 22 people from age 12 to 49, were assigned to two groups, experimental group and control group. We experimented for 8 session on 12 people in the experimental group by using ultrasound therapy to observe any morphological change in the warts or disappearance of a pain. However, we did not cure warts in the other group, control group. The result of the study are as follows. (1) Ultrasound therapy has an effect on curing warts. (2) Neither condition, onset of warts or subject age, had no influence on a cure for warts.
