  • Two experiments were conducted to studs the effects of early-life feed restriction, ages and duration on compensatory growth, feed efficiency, and abdominal fat pad deposition in broilers. The chicks were randomly assigned to four treatments (experiment 1) or seven treatments (experiment 2) . Each dietary treatment was replicated with three floor pens in both experiments, and twenty chicks were assigned to each pen. In experiment 1, birds in control group (C) were full-fed throughout the study. For treatments 1, 2, and 3, bards were fed diets containing 0.75 kcal ME/gB $W^{o.67}$/d for 3 d(T1), 1.5 ㎉ ME/gB $W^{o.67}$/d for 5 d (T2), and 2.25 local ME/gB $W^{0.67}$/d for 7 d (T3), all imposed beginning at 7 d of age. The selected value seems appropriate for maintenance feeding because the feed restriction at T1 resulted no growth in virtually. Although the birds previously subjected with restricted feeding significantly (P<0.05) enhanced growth partly (in 22~49 d), the weight gain over the entire growth period (7-49 d) was not influenced by the restricted feeding Programs. Whereas, the restricted feedings had effects with significant (P<0.75) increase in feed intake not only in 22~49 d, but in overall period (7-49 d). The feed conversion for the birds previously subjected with restricted feeding was significantly (P<0.05) improved after 21 d. The birds with restricted feedings (T1,T2,T3) showed better (P<0.05) feed conversion ratio than C both in 22-49 d and in 7-49 d. The restricted feeding programs did not show effects in reducing for abdominal fat pad deposition or mortality In experiment 2, the birds of C were full-fed in overall period. But for treatments 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 (T1-T6),the birds were fed diets containing 0.75 ㎉ ME/gB $W^{0.67}$/d for 3 or 5 d, starting at either 4, 7 or 10 d of age. The selected value seems appropriate for maintenance feeding because the feed restriction resulted no growth in virtually; which was same as experiment.

  • Six Levels of Service are defined for each type of facility for which analysis procedures as available. They are given letter designations, from A to F with Level of Service A representing the best operating conditions and Level of Service F the worst. Yet the appropriate criteria by vehicle delay model in our situations are not formed. Therefore, The objective of this study is to form the criterion of by average approach delay based on the criterion of V/C ratio. Level-of-Service criterion of this study by TRANSYT-7F Delay Model is as follows. A:${\leq}35.5$ sec, B:${\leq}41$ sec, C:${\leq}48$ sec, D:${\leq}56.5$ sec, E:${\leq}66.5$ sec, F:>66.5 sec.

  • Clarified apple, carrot and orange juices were prepared using ultrafiltration and their single and blend juices were further concentrated using ultrafiltration, freeze-drying, and rotary evaporation. Effect of concentration methods on the quality of concentrated single juices and juice blends was investigated. Turbidity values of samples concentrated by evaporation were significantly higher than those prepared by ultrafiltration and vacuum freezing regardless of juice source (i.e., apple, orange or carrot) or blending (p<0.05). The highest soluble solids contents were obtained for the samples concentrated by evaporation process. Concentrated apple juice contained significantly higher amount of vitamin C and soluble solids than concentrated orange and carrot juices regardless of concentration methods (p<0.05). For blended samples, no direct relationships between blend ratio and total amount of vitamin C were found; however, samples contained more apple juice showed the highest value of soluble solids regardless of concentration methods.

  • This paper investigates the effect of oxygen composition in mixed fuel on the exhaust emissions for the direct injection diesel engine. These effects were tested to estimate the change in engine performance and exhaust emission characteristics when commercial diesel fuel and oxygenates blended fuels at a certain fuel and mixed ratio are used. Individual hydrocarbons $(C_1-C_6)$ in exhaust gases, as well as the total amount of hydrocarbons, were analyzed by using gas chromatography to find the mechanism by which smoke emission was remarkably reduced for various oxygenated fuels. The chromatograms between a diesel fuel and a diesel fuel blended DGM (diethylene glycol dimethyl ether), MTBE (methyl tert-butyl ether) and EGBE (ethylene glycol mono-n-butyl ether) were compared. The results showed that the number of individual hydrocarbons as well as the total number of hydrocarbons of oxygenated fuel reduced more remarkably than those of diesel fuel.

  • One hundred and one noxious weeds on cultivated land of Taiwan were investigated for the occurrence of "Kranz" leaf anatomy and activities of PEP carboxylase and $C_4$ acid decarboxylating enzymes : NADP-malic enzyme, NAD-malic enzyme, PEP carboxykinase. Based on the leaf anatomy and a/b chlorophyll ratio, twenty-seven species exhibit "Kranz" type leaf anatomy, and seventy-four species were found without it. Among the species investigated, Digitaria radicosa (Presl) Miq., Leptochloa chinensis (L.) Nees, and Sporobolus fertilis (Steud.) W. D. Clayton in the Gramineae were first recorded as $C_4$ plants. Twenty-sven species of "Kranz" type leaf anatomy, include those of monocotyledon ; sixteen species in Gramineae, six species in Cyperaceae. Those of dicotyledon ; two species each in Euphorbiaceae and Amaranthaceae and one species in Portulacaceae. The subtype of fourteen previously uninvestigated species among twenty-seven species were further determined. The properties of the three decarboxylating enzyme from representative species were also characterized.

  • Silverman [14] proved a height inequality for a jointly regular family of rational maps and the author [10] improved it for a jointly regular pair. In this paper, we provide the same improvement for a jointly regular family: let h : ${\mathbb{P}}_{\mathbb{Q}}^n{\rightarrow}{{\mathbb{R}}$ be the logarithmic absolute height on the projective space, let r(f) be the D-ratio of a rational map f which is de ned in [10] and let {$f_1,{\ldots},f_k|f_l:\mathbb{A}^n{\rightarrow}\mathbb{A}^n$} bbe finite set of polynomial maps which is defined over a number field K. If the intersection of the indeterminacy loci of $f_1,{\ldots},f_k$ is empty, then there is a constant C such that $ \sum\limits_{l=1}^k\frac{1}{def\;f_\iota}h(f_\iota(P))>(1+\frac{1}{r})f(P)-C$ for all $P{\in}\mathbb{A}^n$ where r= $max_{\iota=1},{\ldots},k(r(f_l))$.

  • The catalytically stabilized combustion of $CH_4$-air mixture on platinum catalyst was investigated numerically using a 2-D boundary layer model with detailed heterogeneous and homogeneous chemistries. The actual surface site density of monolith coated with platinum was decided by the comparison with experimental data. The comparisons were made between results for cases where only heterogeneous chemistry was allowed and both heterogeneous and homogeneous chemistries were allowed. It was found that the homogeneous reaction in the monolith had little effect on the change of temperature profile, methane conversion rate and light off location. The contributions of each reactions related with CO formation were discussed on the surface. The effects of operation conditions such as equivalence ratio, temperature, velocity and pressure at the entrance were studied. In thermal combustor, CO and NOx was produced less than 1 ppm at the exit and the production of $N_{2}O$ was more dominant than that of NO.

  • The degradation process of silicone rubber was investigated by leakage current monitoring in Inclined-Plane method. DAS (Data Acquisition System) with 12-bit, 8-channel A/D converter was prepared. Average current, cumulative charge, current waveform and the number of peak pulses were measured on-line. And, FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) analysis was performed with stored current waveform. Besides, maximum erosion depth was measured in order to use as the indicator of the degradation process. So, the results of leakage current components and maximum erosion depth measurements were compared to find one or more components which have trends of changing similarly to that of erosion process. The result suggests that the ratio of peak current to r.m.s. current, harmonic contents and the number of peak pulses are well corresponding with the degradation process.

  • The drawability of AZ31B magnesium sheet is estimated at various temperatures (200, 250, 300, 350 and $400^{\circ}C$), and forming speed (20, 50, 100 mm/min), thickness (0.5, 0.8, 1.0, 1.4 mm). The deep drawing process of circular cup and square cup were used in forming experiments. Experimental and FEM analysis are performed to investigate drawability and affection of controlled blank holding force. Through the controlled blank holding force, drawability was improved. This result is verified by FEM analysis. Through the observation of microstructure, the main cause is investigated as a quantity of the dynamic recrystallization.

  • Recently, many researchers have performed R&D about strengthening of R/C with steel plates, carbon fiber sheets. aramid fiber sheets and glass fiber sheets, and so on. However most of research were limited in study of flexural strengthening of R/C beams. This paper shows the results of an experimental study on shear reinforcement of deep beams using Glass Fiber Sheet in relation to shear-span ratio. strengthening orientation and anchorage. The results prove that shear failure is governed by reinforced orientation. adherence and anchorage. Additional anchorage of fibers does not only cause the improvement in the internal resistance, but also control the brittle shear failure of specimen after reaching the maximum load.
