  • In Cnidium officinale $M_{AKINO}$ and Platycodon grandiflorum A. $D_E\;C_{ANDOLE}$, chlorogenic acid was identified by Rf values, color reactions on paper chromatograms and UV-absorption spectra of the eluate of phenolic spots. And isochlorogeni acid-like substance was also found in the former. $1-Phenylalanine-U-C^{14}$ and sodium $acetate-2-C^{14}$ werse fed to both plants and their incorporation ratio to chlorogenic acid and isochlorogenic acid-like substance was compared. Phenylalanine was better precursor for chlorogenic acid in both plants than acetate. But acetate showed higher incorporation ratio to isochlorogenic acid-like substance in Cnidium officinale than that of phenylalanine.

  • This paper describes playback downlink and telecommand uplink channel design performed for a transportable small-sized KOMPSAT(Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite) ground station. As a result of downlink channel design, required receiving performance was calculated from the threshold signal-to-noise ratio of playback signal and it was revealed that this performance can be guaranteed in 1.5 m ground station with 6.5 dB/K of G/T. For the uplink channel design, 40 dBW of EIRP was derived from the threshold signal-to-noise ratio of telecommand signal received at on-board receiver. The implemented small-sized ground station based on design was evaluated to be fully acceptable for KOMPSAT TT&C(Telemetry, Tracking and Command) system and playback downlink design without taking account of additional 3 dB system link margin was shown to be effective because it had provided constantly initial channel performance without any remarkable degradation over several years of tests with KOMPSAT and KOMPSAT-2, for both uplink and playback downlink in the elevation angle above $10^{\circ}$.

  • The shrinking and overall drying rate equations which can accomodate experimental date and the rate of initial drying ratio were investigated. The results obtained from hot air drying experiments of radish and sweet potatoes were as follow. The drying rate constant and the order were affected by the thickness of sample and temperature. The empirical drying rate and shrinking equations at constant drying conditions (d=4mm, $Ta=50^{\circ}C$, RH=10%, U=0.8m/s) for radish and sweet potatoes were found to $dx/dt=0.112{\times}10^{-2}\;A(1-x)^{0.43}$, A=Ao(-0.480x+1) and rates of initial drying ratio were expressed of sample thickness, relative humidity and air velocity; for radish $dx/dt=0.0648(RH)^{-0.31}\;(d)^{-0.75}\;(U)^{0.39}$ and for sweet potatoes $dx/dt=0.0547(RH)^{-0.28}\;(d)^{-0.63}\;(U)^{0.37}$

  • Bucket foundations, which are used in the foundations of offshore wind turbines, should be able to withstand large amounts of horizontal and moment loads. Tripod bucket foundation, which combines three single buckets, has been used to increase horizontal and moment capacities. This study performed numerical analysis using ABAQUS (2010), to analyze the group effect and the bearing capacity of a tripod bucket in clay. Parametric studies were performed varying the bucket spacing ratio S/D (S=spacing between the centers of the bucket and the tower; D=diameter of the bucket) and depth ratio L/D (L=embedded length of skirt). The applied constitutive models were a linear elastic perfectly plastic model with Tresca yield criteria for normally consolidated clay and an elastic model for buckets. Loading in the vertical, horizontal, and moment directions was simulated with an increase in each movement at a reference point. The bearing behavior and the capacities of a single and a tripod bucket were compared. Capacity evaluation method of the tripod bucket was suggested using the capacity of a single bucket.

  • C/SiC composites were developed by a liquid silicon infiltration(LSI) method for use as heat-resistant parts of solid and liquid rocket propulsion engines. The heat resistance characteristics according to the composition ratio (carbon / silicon / silicon carbide) were evaluated by specimen test through arc plasma, supersonic torch test. An ablation equation for oxidation reactions was presented. Through the combustion test it was verified that various parts such as nozzle insert, exit cone and combustion chamber heat resistant parts for rocket propulsion can be manufactured and proved high ablation performance and thermal structure performance.

  • Crystalline structure of the extrudate of high amylose corn starch was studied by X-ray diffractometer and $^{13}C\;NMR$. The X-ray diffraction crystal ratio of the extrudates (barrel temperature $100^{\circ}C$ )of high amylose corn starch slightly increased from 6.08% to 8.37% by increasing feed moisture content from 25% to 45%. But extrudates of high amylose corn starch showed similar crystal ratio on various extrusion conditions. Extrudates of high amylose corn starch (feed moisture content 20%, barrel temp $140^{\circ}C$) showed more enlarged crystal structure than that of non-extrudates. The perpendicular distance of crystal increased by extrusion. Crystal ratio was changed from $6.3{\sim}8.3%$ to $4.5{\sim}5.8%$ during storage at $4^{\circ}C$. Starch configuration was examined with $^{13}C\;NMR$. Double helical content was measured by $^{13}C\;NMR$ method. The highest double helical content (60%) was obtained from high amylose corn starch extrudate (barrel temp.: $100^{\circ}C$, feed moisture content 45%). Double helical contents and resistant starch (RS) yield (pancreatin) were positively correlated. However, double helical content of the extrudates was not changed by the storage at $4^{\circ}C$.

  • High-speed flight vehicle have various cavities. The supersonic cavity flow is complicated due to vortices, flow separation and reattachment, shock and expansion waves. The general cavity flow phenomena include the formation and dissipation of vortices, which induce oscillation and noise. The oscillation and noise greatly affect flow control, chemical reaction, and heat transfer processes. The supersonic cavity' flow with high Reynolds number is characterized by the pressure oscillation due to turbulent shear layer, cavity geometry, and resonance phenomenon based on external flow conditions, The resonance phenomena can damage the structures around the cavity and negatively affect aerodynamic performance and stability. In the present study, we performed numerical analysis of cavities by applying the unsteady, compressible three dimensional Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS) equations with the ${\kappa}-{\omega}$ turbulence model. The cavity model used for numerical calculation had a depth(D) of 15mm cavity aspect ratio(L/D) of 3, width to spanwise ratio(W/D) of 1.0 to 5.0. Based on the PSD(Power Spectral Density) and CSD(Cross Spectral Density) analysis of the pressure variation, the dominant frequency was analyized and compared with the results of Rossiter's Eq.

  • On this study, we optimized maximizing thrust force of weight ratio and minimizing detent force of weight ratio at the TFLM(Transverse Flux Linear Motor) using design of experiments by the table of orthogonal array, characteristic function and analysis of means(ANOM), For two functions or more, the effectiveness of design change can be evaluated in accordance with change in design parameters. Also, The stator and mover weight of TFLM is reduced by up to 20 percent while its thrust force of weight ratio and detent force of weight improved. From now on, we are going to apply the required technique to design various uses and shares of the TFLM.
