  • For successful endodontic therapy, complete and accurate biochemical and chemical preparations will allow accurate root canal. Hence the accurate determination of root length is very important for the highest rates of success in endodontic therapy. Among the apex locators, frequency dependent type has higher accuracy and more advantages than others. In this paper, we proposed better frequencies for the method of measuring root canal length by the ratio of two different impedances. It was found that 500Hz and 10kHz is better selection than other frequencies used in the commercial products.

  • We evaluated cell survivability by changing RLC value on HV impulse network. When the L value is changed from 0 to 10mH in this circuit. we found that cell survivability is shown large decline with 4mH of L value. I respect to this result, when waveshapes of oscillatory decay are presented along the variation of L value in RLC circuit, we analyzed whether discharge waveform properties have an effect on sterilization ratio, and measured threshold voltage as the minimum peak voltage of a single pulse which can sterilize cells. Finally, we found that the sterilization effect was related to number of threshold voltage waveforms being applied.

  • Extruded Profiles of Aluminum alloys have been widely used as parts and frames in mechanical and construction structures. Nowadays, mechanical processing of extruded Al alloy profiles is often employed for various industrial applications. Especially, the bending process is more and more applied and the process is greatly influenced by the distributed mechanical properties in the extruded profiles. Due to large reduction of area or extrusion ratio in ordinary production of extruded profiles, anisotropy is naturally induced by large severe deformation during the extrusion process. Therefore, the anisotropy properties play a great role in the bending process, as a post processing of extruded profiles and errors will be involved when the extruded profiles are treated as isotropic material, ignoring the induced anisotropy in the thin-walled extruded product. In the present work, the anisotropic material change is simulated, as a simplified method, employing Barlats six-component yield criterion in the rigid-plastic finite element method. Finite element computations are carried out for extrusion of a thin-walled part.

  • Porthole die extrusion has a great advantage in the forming of hollow section tubes difficult to produce by conventional extrusion with a mandrel on the stem. Because of the complicated structure of die assembly, extrusion process as a forming of hollow section tubes has been investigated experimentally Therefore, analytic approaches that are useful in profitable die design and in the improvement of productivity are inevitably demanded Welding strength is affected by many parameters, which are such as extrusion ratio, extrusion speed, die shape, porthole number, bearing length, billet temperature and mandrel shape. In this paper, the parameters, which are such as billet temperature, bearing length and tube thickness, are examined. The welding pressures are examined through 3D simulation of non steady state and compared with experimental results.

  • In this paper, the relationship between the bandwidth (BW) and power efficiency of a source follower based (SFB) filter is quantitatively analyzed, and a design methodology for a SFB filter for optimized BW - power consumption is introduced. The proposed design methodology achieves a maximum BW at a target quality (Q) factor for the given power consumption constraint by controlling design factors individually. In order to achieve the target BW from the maximized BW, a tuning method is introduced. Through the proposed design methodology, a fourth order Butterworth filter was implemented in 0.18 ${\mu}m$ CMOS technology. The measured BW, power consumption, and IIP3 are 100 MHz, 33 ${\mu}W$, and 9 dBm, respectively. Compared with other filter structures, the measured results show high BW - power efficiency.

  • The growing demand for more fuel-efficient vehicles to reduce energy consumption and air pollution is a challenge for the automotive industry. The characteristic properties of aluminum, high strengrth stiffness to weight ratio, good formability, good corrosion resistence, and recycling potential make it the ideal candidate to replace heavier materials in the car to respond to the weight resuction demand within the automotive industry. In this paper, A series of compression test was carried out to find the flow stress of A6082 at 300, 400 and $500^{\circ}C$, then we tried to estimate weldability, extrusion load and effective stress of die in the aluminum extrusion process through the 3D FE simulation at non-steady state for aluminum automotive parts.

  • $Conform^{TM}$, a continuous extrusion forming process can produce a variety of very long extruded products such as aluminum alloyed wires, strips and profiles, hollow sectioned tubes, coated wires used in the current forming industry. This process has some advantages like as superiority of pre-heating free, availability of high extrusion ratio and continuous forming without stroke limit. But it is still difficult to analyze the realistic model of the process. In this study the analysis using two-dimensional model of $Conform^{TM}$ process together with several parametric investigations on the heat transfer are carried out by FEA code DEFORM $^{TM}2D$. In spite of simple model the results of analysis shows a good guidance to design the real process.

  • In the current paper, a cold forging sequence was developed to manufacture a precisely cold forged H/Lower, which is used as the air back unit in commercial automobiles. The preform shape of the H/Lower influences the dimensional accuracy and stiffness of the final product. The shape factor (SF) ratio and shape of the tools are considered as the design parameters to achieve adequate backward extrusion height and maintain appropriate thickness variations. The optimal conditions of the design parameters were determined by using an artificial neural network (ANN). To experimentally verify the optimal preform and tool shapes, the experiments of the backward extrusion of the H/Lower were executed. The process design methodology proposed in the current paper, can provide a more systematic and economically feasible means for designing the preform and tool shapes for cold forging.

  • This is an experimental investigation the shear behavior of reinforced concrete with stirrup of which stress ranges 0.0㎏/㎠ to 7.0㎏/㎠. Five rectangular beams which concrete strengths are 287㎏/㎠ and 380㎏/㎠, a/d=3, and main steel ratio equal to 1.96% was tested. Those were designed to fail in shear. The shear cracking load and failure load were measured and compared with ACI's equation and Zutty's proposed equation. The results are following : ACI equation and Zutty's equation are consertive. As the concrete compressive strength increased, reserved shear strength of beams with minimum web reinforcement decreases. According to increase of web reinforcement , the rate of increases of shear strength is decreased. The failure modes of specimen with minimum web reinforcement are shear compression failure which is reached after diagonal shear cracking.

  • In this paper, we designed and implemented the dual band antenna for IMT-2000 and 5.7㎓ WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network). The antenna was designed by using 3D simulations program, HFSS(High Frequency Structure Simulator). The electrical characteristics were measured by using HP 8720C network analyzer and measured maximum S$\sub$11/ was -25㏈, and maximum VSWR(Voltage Standing Wavc Ratio) was 1.26 for all frequency bands of interests in IMT-2000 and 5.7㎓ WLAN. Simulation results for antenna gain at 2㎓ and 5.7㎓ were 1.31㏈i and 4.1㏈i with omni directional radiation pattern. Implemented antenna is compact sized and can be produced in low cost enough for commercialization.
