Development of a Sampler that Minimizes Sample Disturbance and Review of its Applicability (인발시 시료이탈을 최소화한 불교란시료 채취 샘플러 개발 및 적용성 검토)

  • In order to accurately determine soil characteristics, it is necessary to collect undisturbed samples, and it is important to collect these samples with minimal disturbance. In this study, a sampler that minimizes sample disturbance was developed by attaching a catcher to the tip, and its applicability was reviewed through in situ sampling, X-ray CT, and laboratory tests. Results confirmed that horizontal cracks are likely to occur when using the Shelby tube sampler, whereas these cracks can be suppressed when using the newly developed sampler. Moreover, consolidation and shear test results showed that the samples collected using the newly developed sampler showed higher maximum shear strength compared to those collected using the Shelby tube sampler.

  • This study reviewed the liquefaction reinforcement and ground reinforcement methods widely used domestically and abroad through construction method characteristics and analyzed the economic feasibility and reinforcement efficiency of each reinforcement method. The analysis results were used to evaluate the applicability of the appropriate reinforcement method for the liquefaction reinforcement of new and existing structures. As a result of evaluating the applicability of the reinforcement method based on the economic feasibility and reinforcement effect of each reinforcement method, the compaction method, which secures the construct ability by applying large equipment, is advantageous when reinforcing a new structure, and the low-fluidity mortar injection method (C.G.S method) and the high-pressure injection method (J.S.P method) are considered appropriate in the existing structure.

  • The recent frequent cases of damage due to leakage of medical data and the privacy of medical patients is increasing day by day. The government says the Privacy Rule regulations established for these victims, such as prevention. Medical data guidelines can be seen 'national medical privacy guidelines' is only released. When replacing the image data between the institutions it has been included in the image file (JPG, JPEG, TIFF) there is exchange of data in common formats such as being made when the file is leaked to an external file there is a risk that the exposure key identification information of the patient. This medial image file has no protection such as encryption, This this paper, introduces a masking technique using a mosaic technique encrypting the image file contains the application to optical character recognition techniques. We propose pseudonymization technique of personal information in the image data.

  • With the new paradigm of ubiquitous in the developed computing technology, it is urgently necessary to research GIS fields centering around positioning techniques. The intention of this study is to propose implementation methods for integrating topographic and cadastral data. For this purpose an integrated data model is formed to coincide the graphic data of cadastral map with that of topographic map. As a result, the integrated data model could be built by harmonizing cadastral map with topographic map. We suggest data model for connecting with other information systems in the conditions of data uniformity and implementation. This data implementation models suggested in this research can provide a good reference for the future implementation of other systems. This results will be efficiently used as basis for practical use in ubiquitous environments of spatial informations.

  • The escalating settlements observed in concrete slab tracks pose a significant challenge in Korea, raising concerns about their adverse impact on the safe operation of high-speed railways and the substantial costs involved in restoration. A primary contributor to these settlements is identified as the utilization of rock materials sourced from tunnel construction, incorporated into the lower subgrade without the requisite soil mixing to achieve an appropriate particle size distribution. This study employs numerical analysis to evaluate the efficacy of partial reinforcement in reducing settlements in rock-filled lower subgrades. Column-shaped reinforcement areas strategically positioned at regular intervals in the lower subgrade induce soil arching in the upper subgrade, leading to a concentration of soil loads on the reinforced areas and consequent settlement reduction. The analysis employs finite element methods to investigate the influence of the size, stiffness, and spacing of the reinforced areas on settlement reduction in the lower subgrade. The numerical results guide the formulation of an optimal design approach, proposing a method to determine the minimum spacing required for reinforcements to effectively limit settlements within acceptable bounds. This research contributes valuable insights into addressing the challenges associated with settlement in concrete slab tracks, offering a basis for informed decision-making in railway infrastructure management.

  • This study employs three-dimensional simulation through FLAC3D to investigate the impact of installation angles on the dynamic characteristics of Triaxial Micropiles. The numerical model is validated against centrifuge test results to ensure accuracy. The findings reveal significant influences of the installation angle on the dynamic behavior of Triaxial Micropiles. Specifically, under seismic conditions such as the Capetown and San Fernando earthquakes, the lowest recorded values for peak bending moment and settlement occurred at an installation angle of 15 degrees. In contrast, when subjected to an artificial earthquake with a frequency of 2 Hz (Sine 2 Hz), Micropiles installed at 0 degrees exhibited the lowest peak bending moment, maximum axial load, and settlement values.

Understanding Post-Crisis Growth of the Korean Economy: Growth Accounting and Cross-Country Regressions (경제위기 이후 한국경제의 성장: 성장회계 및 성장회귀 분석)

  • This paper examines sources of growth of Korea's economy for the period from 1980 to 2005, based on both primal and dual growth accounting methodology employed by Young (1995) and Hsieh (2002). Also, this paper evaluates post-crisis growth performance of Korea, using cross-country comparison of growth accounting results and cross-country regressions. Main results of this paper are as follows. First, the growth slowdown after the crisis has been mainly driven by the slowdown of per worker capital accumulation. By contrast, the estimated TFPG of Korea for the period from 2001 to 2005 seems higher than, or at least roughly comparable to, the estimated TFPG in the pre-crisis period of 1991-1995. In theses respects, there were no substantial differences between the results obtained from primal and dual growth accounting methodology. Second, the cross-country regressions revealthat post-crisis growth slowdown of the Korea's economy can be largely attributed to world growth slowdown (decade effect) and East Asia-specific effects. In particular, it was found that the noticeable decelerationin per worker capital accumulation can be mostly attributed to some unknown factors which commonly affected East Asian countries. Viewed from an international perspective, the lowered post-crisis per worker GDP growth rate, as well as per-worker capital growth, which triggered concerns and debates in varying contexts, still seems respectable. So, the slowdown in capital accumulation is likely to be mainly a story of spectacularly high rate of capital accumulation in the pre-crisis period, not a story of 'weak' investment after the crisis.

  • Hydrothermal gold deposits of the Trabong district in Vietnam occur as single-stage quartz $\pm$ calcite veins (0.3-1.2 m thick) which fill fault fractures in graphite-bearing gneiss and schist of the Chulai Complex and Kham Duc Formation of the Proterozoic age. Ore grades are 1.3 to 92.4 g/ton Au. Ore mineralogy is very simple, consisting mainly of pyrite with minor amounts of base-metal sulfides and electrum. Gold grains occur in two assemblages as follows: (1) early, Fe-rich (7.2-10.4 mole % FeS) sphalerite + electrum (50.4-64.3 atom % Au) assemblage occurring as inclusions in pyrite; (2) late, Fe-poor «4.7 mole % FeS) sphalerite + galena + electrum (47.6-81.7 atom % Au) assemblage occurring along fractures of pyrites. Based on fluid inclusion data and thermochemical considerations of ore mineral assemblages, ore minerals were formed at high temperatures (about $230^{\circ}C$ to $420^{\circ}C$) from $H_{2}O-CO_{2}(-CH_{4})$-NaCI fluids with the sulfur fugacity of about $10^{-6}$ to $10^{-10}$ atm. Fluid inclusion data also indicate that ore mineralization occurred mainly as a result of fluid unmixing accompanying $CO_2$ effervescence. Calculated oxygen and measured hydrogen isotope compositions of mineralizing waters (${\delta}^{18}O_{V-SMOW}$ values = 5.3 to 8.6$\textperthousand$, ${\delta}D_{V-SMOW}$ values = - 60 to - 52$\textperthousand$), along with the sulfur isotope compositions of vein sulfides (${\delta}^{34}S_{CDR}$ values = - 1.2 to 2.8$\textperthousand$) and carbon isotope compositions of inclusion $CO_2$ (${\delta}^{13}C_{PDB}$ values = - 4.7 to - 2.0$\textperthousand$) indicate that the high temperature (mesohypothermal) gold mineralization formed from a magmatic fluid.

Relationships between Selective Attention Bias for Fear Stimuli and Hallucination in Patients with Schizophrenia : A Preliminary Study (조현병 환자에서 불안자극에 대한 선택적 주의 편향과 환청과의 연관성 : 예비 연구)

  • Objective : This study was conducted to evaluate the relationships between selective attention bias for fear stimuli and hallucination in patients with schizophrenia Method : A total of 66 patients with schizophrenia admitted to psychiatry clinics were included in the study. Selective attention bias was measured by the dot-probe task. Patient symptoms were measured using the Positive and Negative Symptom Scale, Psychotic Symptom Rating Scale (PSYRATS), Korean version of the Scale to Assess Unawareness of Mental Disorder, and Clinical Global Impression-Severity scale. Results : Selective attention bias was correlated with the hallucination subscale of PSYTATS (r=0.268, p=0.029). No correlation was found between selective attention bias and other clinical measures. There was no significant difference, but a statistical trend was found (p=0.092) in hallucination severities between the biased and non-biased groups. Conclusion : The results suggest that selective attention bias for fear stimuli is associated with auditory hallucination. This preliminary study suggests the possibility of correlation between auditory hallucination in the psychotic domain and anxiety of the affective component.

The Solidarity Networking between Labor and Civil Society Movements: the Case Study of Hope Bus (시민사회의 연대운동 네트워킹 사례연구: 희망버스를 중심으로)

  • In light that solidarity movements become significant under the situation of 'labor and labor movement' crisis, our study pays attention to the fact that the Hope Bus campaigns made remarkable achievements, and aims to figure out how those campaigns were successful, by focusing on their solidarity networking. The successful operating conditions of solidarity networking in the Hope Bus campaigns are examined in three aspects - the conditions of triggering, forming, and activating. The solidarity networking of Hope Bus campaigns were mainly triggered by the injustice of layoffs by Hanjin Heavy Industry, aerial protest by Jin-sook Kim, and the tragic symbol of the protest site (Crane no. 85). The solidarity movement of Hope Bus could be formed by the mutual trust and cohesive team-building of key network brokers, their utilization and expansion of social movement networks, and massive ripple effect of SNS-mediated communication. The solidarity networking of Hope Bus was effectively activated by open and de-hierarchical operations of the central planning group, active solidarity activities of participant groups, and the provision of 'heuristic experience' for developing the sensibility to labor solidarity. The virtuous combination of those three operating conditions leads to the building of unified forces among social movements, massive civil participation, and meaningful movement outcomes, through the solidarity networking of Hope Bus campaigns.
