수리해석을 이용한 정수장내 혼화장치 설계 개선에 관한 연구 (Numerical Study on Improvement of Mixing Equipment' Plan in a Water Treatment Plant)

  • In this study, we used In-line orifice mixer for efficient chemicals mixing in water treatment. The method of using In-line orifice mixer has been already proved the improvement of water treatment efficiency. Numerical study was performed using FLUENT, a commercial code, to standard design and production of effective In-line orifice mixer. As variable for exactly standardizing, a proper ratio between an outer diameter of cone and a diameter of pipe, a distance between cone and orifice, a determination of orifice diameter for an optimal mixing, a distance between injection nozzle's position and cone, Numerical study has been performed for optimal standard and analyzed flow field on a basis of turbulent intensity in an orifice downstream.

형상 최적화를 통한 축류송풍기의 설계 (Design of An Axial Flow Fan with Shape Optimization)

  • This paper presents the response surface optimization method using three-dimensional Wavier-Stokes analysis to optimize the blade shape of an axial flow fan. Reynolds-averaged Wavier-Stokes equations with $k-{\epsilon}$ turbulence model are discretized with finite volume approximations using the unstructured grid. Regression analysis is used for generating response surface, and it is validated by ANOVA and t-statistics. Four geometric variables, i.e., sweep and lean angles at mean and tip respectively were employed to improve the efficiency. The computational results are compared with experimental data and the comparisons show generally good agreements. As a main result of the optimization, the total efficiency was successfully improved. Also, detailed effects of sweep and lean on the axial flow fan are discussed.

  • In this study, we conducted resistance and propulsion performance test of ship composed of the Resistance Test, Propeller Open Water Test and Self Propulsion Test using the CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics). We used commercial RANS(Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes equation) solver, as a calculating tool. The unstructured grids were used in a bow and stern of ship, having complex shape, for a convenience of generating grids, and the structured grids were adopted in a central hull and rest of hull having a relatively simple shape which is called hybrid grid method. In addition, The sliding mesh method was adopted to rotate a propeller directly in the Propeller Open Water and Self Propulsion Test. The Resistance Test and Self Propulsion Test were calculated using Volume of Fluid (VOF) model and considering a free surface. And all The three cases were applied realizable k-epsilon model as the turbulence model. The results of calculations were verified for the suitability of calculations by comparing MOERI's EFD results.

엔진룸 내의 열유체 유동의 2차원 수치시뮬레이션 (A two-dimensional numerical simulation of the thermal and fluid flow in engine room)

  • The complex geometry of the engine room of a passenger car has been modelled two-dimensionally and the thermal and fluid flow therein have been analyzed by using a commercially available code, PATRAN/FLORAM$\mid$N. FLOTRAN adopts a finite element method with streamline upwind formulation for convective terms and the k-.epsilon. turbulence model to solve the three dimensional turbulent flow and heat transfer problems. Velocity vectors, pressure and temperature distributions have been obtained for various cases with different arrangements of license plate, underbody-covers and air dams. The results show that the numerical analysis using PATRAN/FLOTRAN can predict qualitatively well the practical phenomena.

  • This paper describes the recognition of the printed Hanguel(Korean Character) using Neural Network. In this study, Neural network is used in only specific classification. Hanguel is classified globally by using template matching. Neural network is learned using the segmented grapheme. The grapheme of Hanguel is segmented using the structural method. Neural network is constructed, which is corresponded to the kind and the shape of graphemes. Each neural network is multi layer perceptron. The learning algorithm is the modified error back propagation using descending epsilon method. With five test character sets, the recognition rate of 94.95% is obtained.

  • This paper reports the characteristics of the three dimensional turbulent flow in the 180 degree bends with decreasing cross-sectional area by numerical method. Calculated pressure and velocity, Reynolds stress distributions are compared to the experimental data. Turbulence model employed are low Reynolds number k-epsilon model and algebraic stress model. The results show that the main vortex generated from the inlet part of the bend maintained to outlet of the bend because of the contraction of cross-sectional area. The rate of increase of turbulent kinetic energy through the bend are lower than that of mean flow. Secondary flow strength of the flow is lower about 60% than that of square duct flow.

  • In this paper, we show the numerical and experimental results of two-dimensional fluid motions inside a rectangular container with a vertical plate subjected to a background rotation added by a rotational oscillation. In the PIV experiment we apply a new algorithm, NTSS, to the velocity calculation. In the numerical computation, the linear Ekman-pumping model was used to take the bottom friction effect into account. It was found that it showed good agreement with the experimental results at low ${\epsilon}$ number.

  • In this study, three-dimensional incompressible viscous flow analysis and optimization using response surface method are presented for the design of a jet fan. Steady, incompressible, three-dimensional Reynolds averaged Wavier-Stokes equations are used as governing equations, and standard k-$\epsilon$ turbulence model is chosen as a turbulence model. Governing equations are discretized using finite volume method. Sweep angles and maximum thickness of blade are used as design variables for the shape optimization of the impeller in response surface method. The experimental points which are needed to construct response surface are obtained from the D-optimal design and Full Factorial design and relations between design variables and response surface are examined.

원심송풍기 벌류트 내부유동의 수치해석적 연구 (Numerical Study on Flow Field in Centrifugal Fan Volute)

  • The non-uniform pressure generated in the volute generally are propagating upstream. As a result, outlet conditions of rotaing impeller are changed and the performance degrades. The major object of this research is to develop the numerical method which can calculate the effects of impeller and volute flow field interactions. Under the assumption of steady three-dimensional incompressible turbulent flow, the time averaged N-S equations involving $k-{\epsilon}$ turbulent model was solved by the F.V.M. To verify the computational method, the calculations are compared with experimental results published in literature and show satisfactory agreement with them, The three-dimensional flow characteristics within the volute of a centrifugal fan at design and off-design operating points have also been studied.
