  • In the space $C_1(X)$ of real-valued continuous functions with $L_1-norm$, every bounded set has a relative Chebyshev center in a finite-dimensional subspace S. Moreover, the set function $F\rightarrowZ_S(F)$ corresponding to F the set of its relative Chebyshev centers, in continuous on the space B[$C_1(X)$(X)] of nonempty bounded subsets of $C_1(X)$ (X) with the Hausdorff metric. In particular, every bounded set has a relative Chebyshev center in the closed convex set S(F) of S and the set function $F\rightarrowZ_S(F)$(F) is continuous on B[$C_1(X)$ (X)] with a condition that the sets S(.) are equal.

  • A major problem in the adoption of advanced manufacturing systems such as F.M.S. (Flexible Manufacturing Systems) is the prerequisite economic justification process because of high investment needed for the acquisition and installation of F.M.S. While some of the benefits expected are readily quantifiable, others are very difficult or even impossible, using conventional method. Thus the investment in F.M.S. should be considered as a strategic decision rather than a tactical decision which concerns with only financial implications. In this paper we review papers on major justification techniques developed during thelast decade and identify the benefits of F.M.S. and describe the considerations in the justification of F.M.S. Also, we deal with the current and future research directions in justifying F.M.S.

  • This study compared the meat quality of sea rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss frame muscle (S-FR-TY) and fillet (S-FI-TY) with the frame muscle of freshwater rainbow trout (F-FR). There was a difference of < 1% in the proximate composition of S-FR-TY vs. S-FI-TY, and of S-FR-TY vs. F-FR. The Hunter a value of F-FR-TY was lower compared with that of F-FR cultured in Jecheon (F-FR-JC), but higher than that of F-FR cultured in Pyeongtaek (F-FR-PT). However, no difference in the Hunter a value of S-FR-TY compared with any other F-FR was observed. The odor intensity of S-FR-TY was lower compared with that of F-FR, while the taste of S-FR-TY was milder than that of S-FI-TY, but stronger than that of F-FR. Although its total amino acid content was lower, the essential amino acid content of S-FR-TY was higher compared with S-FI-TY; the potassium content of S-FR-TY was also significantly greater. S-FR-TY contained high levels of nutritional and functional components, such as anserine, lysine, threonine, and eicosapentaenoic and docosahexaenoic acid. These results suggest that S-FR-TY could be used as a resource of canned food or fish jerky for children.

  • Job's tears (Coix lacryma-jobi) is native to East Asia, and grains of the plant are used as health food and medicinal material. Head blight symptoms of the plant were frequently observed during disease surveys in Korea from 2006 to 2008. The symptoms were characterized as discoloration of husks, and subsequently inside of mature grains were shriveled or emptied. One hundred fifty nine isolates of Fusarium species were obtained from the disease symptoms of the plant collected from several locations in the country. Out of the isolates, the most frequently isolated Fusarium species were F. graminearum (34%), F. proliferatum (14.5%), F. verticillioides (10.1%), F. equiseti (6.9%), and F. fujikuroi (6.3%). Other Fusarium species isolated were F. subglutinans, F. semitectum, F. poae, and F. sporodochioides. Elongation factor 1 alpha gene sequences of the isolates were used for phylogenetic analysis. Analyses of the sequences revealed that the isolates were confirmed to be identical with each reference species of NCBI GenBank. Pathogenicity tests showed that F. graminearum, F. proliferatum and F. verticillioides were strongly virulent to grains of Job's tears. The present study is the first report of head blight of Job's tears caused by Fusarium species in Korea.

  • In this paper, we prove that any stable f-harmonic map from sphere ${\mathbb{S}}^n$ to Riemannian manifold (N, h) is constant, where f is a smooth positive function on ${\mathbb{S}}^n{\times}N$ satisfying one condition with n > 2. We also prove that any stable f-harmonic map ${\varphi}$ from a compact Riemannian manifold (M, g) to ${\mathbb{S}}^n$ (n > 2) is constant where, in this case, f is a smooth positive function on $M{\times}{\mathbb{S}}^n$ satisfying ${\Delta}^{{\mathbb{S}}^n}(f){\circ}{\varphi}{\leq}0$.

  • Let S denote the class of nivalent functions normalized so that f(0)=f'(0)-1=0 in vertical bar z vertical bar <1. Let $S_{\alpha}$$^{*}$, -.pi./2<.alpha.<.pi./2, denote the subclass of S that satisfies Re $e^{i{\alpha}}$zf'(z)/f(z).geq.0 in vertical bar z vertical bar <1; then f is called .alpha.-spiral-like and the case .alpha.=0 is the class of normalized starlike functions [6, pp.52]. Let T denote the class of functions f normalized as above and satisfying Im z[Im f(z)]..geq.0 in vertical bar z vertical bar <1; then f is called typically real and T contains those functions of S whose coefficients are real [6, pp.55]. Also, in view of [6, pp.231], let B(.lambda.) be the class of function normalized as above and map vertical bar z vertical bar <1 onto the complement of an arc with radial angle .lambda.(0<.lambda.<.pi./2). The radial angle is meant to be the angle between the tangent and radial vectors to the arc. This note includes a sharp version for Corollary 1 of [2] when f.mem. $S_{\alpha}$$^{*}$ as well as a logarithmic coefficient estimate.nt estimate.

  • In the present study we have attempted to explore the relationship between family support that young people receive and the level of Ego Identity that they develop. We started the present study with the purpose of providing parish nurses with some basic data for nursing intervention for family and school nursing, as well as for community health care. We conducted the present study during the period of October 15, 2001 through November 5, 2001. The objects of this study were Inmunge High School students chosen from a school in Daejon. The subject students were selected randomly from each grade in that school. The numbers of subjects selected were 120 boys and 113 girls (total: 233). The research tool that we used to measure perceived family support received by students was one that Ga Eon Lee revised for high school students on the basis of Cobb's theory. To measure the subject students' Ego Identity level we used Bong Yon Sho's 'Ego Identity Scale', that he revised from Dignan's 'Ego Identity Scale' for Korean high school students. Data were analyzed with SPSS Win 10.0 program using statistics of frequencies, percentage, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficient. The findings of the present study indicate that: 1) The mean of family support that the subject students feel that they received was 39.99 on the family support scale, and the mean of the students on the Ego Identity scale was 186.16. 2) The support that the subjects received from their own family had a statistically significant correlation with their Ego Identity (r=.93, p=.00). 3) Various factors had a significant correlation with the level of family support perceived by the subjects: the subject's grade (F=3.35, p=.04), the subject's religion (t=6.39, p=.00), the family's economic situation (F=9.14, p=.00), the birth order (F=27.61. p=.00), the father's education (F=23.17, p=.00), the mother's education (F=28.70, p=.00), parental relationship (F=2657.03, p=.00), and the structure of the family (F=-9.65. p=.00). 4) Various factors had a significant correlation with the level of the subject's Ego Identity: the subjects religion (t=6.20, p=.00), the family's economic situation (F=12.56, p=.00), the birth order (F=22.85, p=.00), the father's education (F=10.37, p=.00), the mother's education (F=20.69, p=.00), parental relationship (F=938.73. p=.00), and the structure of the family (F=-8.74, p=.00). 5) Analyzing sources of support within the family, family members whom the subjects trust most (F=3.08, p=.03) and family members to whom they talk most (F=5.85, p=.00) showed the most significant differences. Analyzing sources of support within the family that affect the level of the subjects' Ego Identity, family members whom the subjects trust most (F=3.30. p=.02) and family members to whom they talk most also showed the most significant differences.

  • We characterize the boundedness and compactness of the weighted composition operator $uC_{\psi}$ from the general function space F(p, q, s) into the logarithmic Bloch space ${\beta}_L$ on the unit disk. Some necessary and sufficient conditions are given for which $uC_{\psi}$ is a bounded or a compact operator from F(p,q,s), $F_0$(p,q,s) into ${\beta}_L$, ${\beta}_L^0$ respectively.
