  • In 2019, the sex pheromones of Spodoptera frugiperda were used to examine moth trapping in cornfields in Gochang, Korea. Four types of traps were prepared, two funnel-types and two delta-types, each baited with 300 or 1000 ㎍ of a two-component (2C) blend of synthetic sex pheromones [100% (Z)-9-tetradecenyl acetate (Z9-14Ac) and 2% (Z)-7-dodecenyl acetate (Z7-12Ac)]. The greatest number of S. frugiperda were captured in the 300 ㎍ funnel-type trap (first catch: August 6). Large numbers of Mythimna loreyi (a non-target) were also caught in the funnel-type traps. Two wing-type traps were baited with 1000 ㎍ of the 2C blend or a four-component (4C) blend [100% (Z)-9-tetradecenyl acetate, 8% (Z)-11-hexadecenyl acetate (Z11-16Ac), 2% (Z)-7-dodecenyl acetate, and 1% (Z)-9-dodecenyl acetate (Z9-12Ac)] and the capture efficiency was assessed. Low numbers of S. frugiperda were captured regardless of the blend, and more M. loreyi were captured using the 4C blend. The two intraspecies groups clustered separately in a phylogenetic tree constructed using partial sequences (1004 bp) of cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 (CO1). Of the 70 S. frugiperda captured in the pheromone traps, 66 belonged to CO1-RS (CO1 rice-strain) and 4 to CO1-CS (CO1 corn-strain). Twelve consistent single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were identified in CO1 between the CO1-RS and CO1-CS groups of S. frugiperda. Of the 73 S. frugiperda, 4 had the same SNP pattern as the CO1-CS group (including the corn strain) and 69 had the same SNP pattern as the CO1-RS group (including the rice strain).

  • We present Subaru Near-Infrared (NIR) photometry for globular clusters (GCs) in the giant elliptical galaxy NGC 4649 (M60) belonging to the Virgo cluster. NIR data are obtained in Ks-band with the Subaru/MOIRCS, and matching HST/ACS optical data available in literature are used to explore the origin of GC color bimodality. A clear bimodal color distribution is observed in the optical color (g-z), in which the ratio between blue and red GCs is 4:6. By contrast, the more metallicity-sensitive optical-NIR colors (g-Ks, z-Ks) show a considerably weakened bimodality in their distributions. The color-color relation of the optical and NIR colors for the GC system shows a nonlinear feature, supporting that the optical color bimodality observed in NGC 4649 GC system is caused by nonlinear color-metallicity relations (CMRs).

  • Galaxy clusters, the largest gravitationally bound systems, are an important means to place constraints on cosmological models and study the evolution and formation of galaxies and their large scale distribution. We report results from our study of galaxy clusters in the European Large Area ISO Survey North1(ELAIS-N1) field, covering a sky area of 8.75 $deg^2$. We combine multi-wavelength data from the UKIRT Infrared Deep Sky Survey Deep Extragalactic Survey (UKIDSS DXS, JK bands), Spitzer Wise-area InfraRed Extragalactic survey (SWIRE, Optical-Infrared bands), and CFHT (z band). The photometric redshifts are derived from these datasets and are used to search for high redshift galaxy cluster candidates. Finally, we provide new candidates of galaxy clusters at redshifts 1.0

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the statistical properties of four previously developed pediatric coronary artery z score models in healthy Korean children. Methods: The study subjects were 181 healthy Korean children, whose age ranged from 1 month to 15 years. The diameter of each coronary artery was measured using 2-dimensional echocardiography and converted to the z score in the four models (McCrindle, Olivieri, Dallaire, and Japanese model). Descriptive statistical analyses and 1-sample t tests were performed. Results: All calculated z scores had P values of ${\geq}0.050$ using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. The one sample t test showed that the mean z scores did not converge to zero except in 1 model, and the mean right coronary artery (RCA) z score was less than zero in all 4 models. The smaller RCA diameter in this study could be associated with the more distal measuring point used to avoid the conal branch. The percentage of subjects with extreme z score values (${\geq}2.0$ and ${\geq}2.5$) for the left main coronary artery (LMCA) seems to be higher in the Dallaire (4.9% and 3.3%) and Japanese models (7.1% and 3.8%). Conclusion: All 4 models showed statistical feasibility of normal distribution. More precise instructions would be needed for the measurement of the RCA. The higher percentage of extreme z scores for the LMCA is compatible with the basic understanding of anatomic variation in the LMCA.

  • The anchovy scoop net fishery is one of the important in the South sea and coastal of Jeju of Korea. They are using incandescent lamp as a fishing lamp at night to gather anchovy shoals in the water surface. Fishing lamp (AC 100 V 500 W$\times$2~3 or AC 100 V 1 ㎾$\times$1) was installed at 1 m ahead of the prow and 1.5 m height from the water surface. The fishing lamp let anchovy shoals rise to the water surface and are attracted to bag net. On this study, the distribution of submarine illumination of 1㎾ and 2 ㎾ incandescent lamp were analyzed and discussed to investigate the ability of fishing lamp which can gather anchovy shoals effectively. The submarine illumination of incandescent lamp showed peak in wave length 690 nm. The relationship between submarine illumination (L) and water depth (Z) of 1 ㎾ and 2 ㎾ incandescent lamp in vertical light is 1 ㎾ : L = 3851. 9 $e^{-1.4587Z}$ $R^2$=0.9952 2 ㎾ : L= 8211.9 $e^{-1.2852Z}$ $R^2$=0.9977 The submarine illumination of 2 ㎾ incandescent lamp of 0~4 m layers appeared to be 3 to 4 times higher than 1 ㎾ incandescent lamp, and in more deep layers than 6 m appeared to be equal value of each lamp. The light of incandescent lamp (1 ㎾) pass through much better into vertical direction than horizontal, and submarine illumination of 20 m layers was 1.0 l$\chi$. Therefore, fishing lamp power is thought that 1 ㎾ incandescent lamp is more efficient than 2 ㎾ to gather anchovy shoals in depth of 15~20 m to water surface.

  • ECR(Electron Cyclotron Resonance) occure at ${\omega}_c$=${\omega}$, ${\omega}_c$:electron cycltron frequency, ${\omega}$:electromagnetic wave frequency. ECR system have several merit, 1) power transefer efficiency 2) low neutral gas pressure (below 1 mTorr) 3) high plasma density($10^{12}$ $cm^{-3}$). It is applicated variously in the field of semiconductor and new materials as the manufacturing equipment. Magnetic field in ECR system contruct resonance layer (${\omega}$=2.45GHz, $B_z$=875 Gauss) and control plasma. Plasma is almost generated at resonance layer. If the distance between substrate and resonance layer is short, uniformity of plasma is related with profile of resonance layer. Plasma have the property "Cold in Field", so directonality of magnetic field is one of the control factors of anisotropic etching. In this study, we calculate B field and flux line distribution, optimize geometry and submagnet current and improve of magnetic field directionality (99.9%) near substrate. For the purpose of calculation, vector potential A(r,z) and magnetic field B(r,z), green function and numerical integration is used. Object function for submagnet optimization is magnetic field directionality on the substrate and Powell method is used as optimization skim.

  • This study examined the changes of water quality in relation to distribution of hydrophytes, and the purification capacity of Zizania latifolia to improve the effluent from Munpyeong stream from March 1997 to December 1999. While the concentration of nitrogen and phosphorous in water were increased during the farming season, those decreased, during the streaming down to paddy and drainage areas. In investigated sites, the Z. latifolia was dominant community according to the development of the natural wetlands. Furthermore, it formed a large community owing to its high adaptability to environmental changes in the agriculture lands. In September, the leaves productivity of the Z. latifolia were 4,032g D.W/$m^2$and roots were 7,680gD.W/$m^2$. The purification capacity of the Z. latifolia for NH$_3$-N, $No_3$-N, and PO$_4$-P were 13.41, 17.07, and 4.58 respectively during 5 days. The results suggested that it needs to establish wetlands vegetated by hydrophytes to improve the water quality of the effluent from agricultural lands.

  • Recently, the call for better accountability and social responsibility from corporations has been regularly voiced, both in the academic literature and in public discussions. This poses a challenge to the existing literature in understanding consumption behaviors to direct them toward sustainable development. This study investigates the purchase intention of Gen Z consumers in Vietnam with green packaging products. Data were collected from 914 respondents by online questionnaire and then analyzed using OLS. The results suggest the significant influence of customers' income and packaging in driving customers' intention to use environmentally-friendly products. Specifically, consumers in a higher income class participate more actively in green purchases. However, problems associated with inadequate packaging are also illustrated, resulting in the poor perception of green messages and poor practice of ecological actions. Besides, subjective norms and green trust are found to be adversely related to green consumer intention. In addition, gender disparity in green behavior is reported, where female consumers show a higher tendency to ecological consumption than their male counterparts. Other demographic factors are also included in the model as control variables, which are age, education, price, environmental literacy, environmental concern, and psychological awareness, but they do not have a significant impact on green purchase intention.

  • We investigate the spatial distribution of Ly α-emitting galaxies (LAEs) at z ≈ 2.67, selected from the NOAO Deep Wide-Field Survey, using two-point statistics and topological diagnostics adopted from network science. We measure the clustering length, r0 ≈ 4 h-1 Mpc, and the bias, bLAE = 2.2+0.2-0.1. Fitting the clustering with halo occupation distribution (HOD) models results in two disparate possibilities: (1) where the fraction of central galaxies is <1 per cent in haloes of mass >1012 M and (2) where the fraction is ≈20 per cent. We refer to these two scenarios as the 'Dusty Core Scenario' for Model#1, since most of the central galaxies in massive haloes are dead in Ly α emission, and the 'Pristine Core Scenario' for Model#2, since the central galaxies are bright in Ly α emission. Traditional two-point statistics cannot distinguish between these disparate models given the current data sets. To overcome this degeneracy, we generate mock catalogues for each HOD model using a high-resolution N-body simulation and adopt a network statistics approach, which provides excellent topological diagnostics for galaxy point distributions. We find three topological anomalies from the spatial distribution of observed LAEs, which are not reproduced by the HOD mocks. We find that Model#2 matches better all network statistics than Model#1, suggesting that the central galaxies in >1012 h-1 M haloes at z ≈ 2.67 need to be less dusty to be bright as LAEs, potentially implying some replenishing channels of pristine gas such as the cold mode accretion.
