Electrical properties of layered $BaTiO_3$ thin film (적층구조 $BaTiO_3$ 박막의 전기적 특성)

  • The layered BaTiO3 thin films with a high dielectric constant of polycrystalline BaTiO3 and a good in-sulating property of amorphous BaTiO3 were prepared. And their electrical properties were characterized with stacking methods. The BaTiO3 thin films were prepared by rf-magnetron sputtering technique using a ceramic target on Indium-doped Tin oxide coated glasses. A new stacking method resulted in higher dielec-tric constant, capacitance per unit area, and breakdown strength than those prepared by a conventional stacking method; the new method continuously decrease the substrate temperature after initial deposition of a polycrystalline BaTiO3 layer. The observed high dielectric constant could be explained only by a mul-tilayered amorphous/microcrystalline/polycrystalline structure, which was confirmed indirectly by AES depth profile.

Photocatalytic Degradation of Benzene in the Gas Phase using TiO2 Coated on Ceramic and Glass Beads (세라믹과 유리에 코팅한 TiO2 광촉매를 이용한 가스상 벤젠의 제거)

  • TiO$_2$ sol was prepared by sol-gel method, and this sol was coated in ceramic and glass bead by dip-coating method. The coated catalyst was applied to degrade benzene in the gas phase by exposing to UV -lamp (365 nm) in a batch reactor. The removal efficiency of the benzene was compared by changing various conditions such as the kind of chemical additives, the coating beads (ceramic and glass), solution pH, the initial concentration of TiO$_2$ sol, UV intensity, and benzene concentration. The physical structure of TiO$_2$ sol used in this study was found to be pu-rely anatase type from XRD analysis. The results showed that ceramic bead was effective as the coating agent rath-er than glass bead. The significant change in the benzene removal efficiency of benzene did not occur with chang-ing coating frequency and the initial concentration of TiO$_2$ sol. The removal efficiency of benzene increased with increasing UV intensity, and with acidic treatment of TiO$_2$-coated ceramic bead.

Protection of STS304 Steel with Photo-Functional Material $TiO_2$ Coating (광기능성 재료 $TiO_2$ 피막에 의한 STS304강의 방식)

  • This study was investigated the photoelectrochemical behavior of STS304 steel with $TiO_2$ thin films coating, applied by sol-gel method, for the purpose of cathodic photoprotection of the steel corrosion. One time $TiO_2$-coated STS304 steel adopted two kinds of $TiO_2$ sol solution has the most dominant photopotential abilities, which was -200mV vs. SCE and -500mV vs. SCE under illumination with 40W fluorescent lamp, respectively. That was more negative than the corrosion potential of the bare metal(-150 mV). The bleaching of TCE was confirmed on $TiO_2$-coated STS304 under UV-illumination with 20 W Black-light. This Study was concluded that $TiO_2$-coated STS304 exhibited both a cathodic photoprotection effect against corrosion and photocatalytic self-cleaning effect.

  • The rutile phase of TiO2 forms a stable phase at high temperatures compared to anatase phase, but the stable temperature range of anatase changes depending on the synthesis conditions. In this study, nano-sized TiO2 was synthesized by the Sol-gel method using TiOSO4 and a mixed solvent of ethanol and distilled water, and the phase change of anatase and rutile according to pH and heat treatment temperature was investigated. Changes in the ratio of anatase and rutile were observed by changing the pH (3, 5, 7, 9) and heat treatment temperature (500, 600, 700, 800, 900℃) conditions of the prepared TiO2. As a result of observing these changes through XRD and FE-SEM analysis, anatase TiO2 at 500℃ and rutile TiO2 at 900℃ were observed. According to the pH, at these intermediate temperatures of 600, 700 and 800℃, the ratio of anatase and rutile changes. At 700℃, it was concluded that pH = 3~5 had a larger ratio of anatase TiO2, and pH = 7~9 had a larger ratio of rutile TiO2.

  • It is hard to synthesize pure $BaTiO_3$ from $BaCO_3$ and $TiO_2$ in solid reaction for the activity of BaO and secondary phase. For this reason, the wet chemical techniques have been studied. Starting material which was used in these methods were expensive and the properties of powder which was synthesized in same defined. So, some process have been studying again to improve soild reaction method. This study which was one of those was to defin the forming mechanism of $Ba_2TiO_4$ and to control some condition of $Ba_2TiO_4$. The synthesis temperature of $BaTiO_3$ in solid reaction was near $1120^{\circ}C$. The quantity and forming temperature of $Ba_2TiO_4$ could be controlled by atmosphere heat treatment. $Ba_2TiO_4$ was related to expansion in Ba-rich region of $BaTiO_3$. $BaTiO_2O_5$ and $BaTiO_3O_7$ was reason to expand in Ti-rich region. The dielectrics of $CeAIO_3$ which was synthesized and sintered in reduction atmosphere and $BaTiO_3$ system were affected by $CeO_2$ which was formed for the decomposition of $CeAIO_3$ heat treatment in air.

  • The PTCR devices of BaTiO3 doped with Sb2O3, SiO2 were prepared by Liquid Addition Method(LPAM) where doping sources were used in the forms of Liquid. The amounts of doping in LPMA is smaller than that in solid state mixing method. Also the doping process in LPMA is very suitable for BaTiO3-based PTCR devices because it is easy to obtain homogeneous mixing and reproductivity. By optimizing the doping condition in BaTiO3 system, (0.09 mol% Sb2O3, 0.25 wt% SiO2 and 0.02 wt% MnO2) it was possible to fabricate BaTiO3-based PTCR devices whee the room-temperature resistivity and specific resistivity were 15{{{{ OMEGA }}cm and 2$\times$106 respectively.

Synthesis of Nanocrystalline TiO2 by Sol-Gel Combustion Hybrid Method and Its Application to Dye Solar Cells

  • $TiO_2$ nanopowders were synthesized by new sol-gel combustion hybrid method using acetylene black as a fuel. The dried gels exhibited autocatalytic combustion behaviour. $TiO_2$ nanopowders with an anatase structure and a narrow size distribution were obtained at 400-600 ${^{\circ}C}$. Their crystal structures were examined by powder Xray diffraction (XRD) and their morphology and crystal size were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The crystal size of the nanopowders was found to be in the range of 15-20 nm. $TiO_2$ powders synthesized at 500 ${^{\circ}C}$ and 600 ${^{\circ}C}$ were applied to a dye solar cell. An efficiency of 5.2% for the conversion of solar energy to electricity ($J_{sc}$ = 11.79 mA/$cm^2$, $V_{oc}$ = 0.73 V, and FF = 0.58) was obtained for an AM 1.5 irradiation (100 mW/$cm^2$) using the $TiO_2$ nanopowder synthesized by the sol-gel combustion hybrid method at 500 ${^{\circ}C}$.

  • In this paper, $TiO_{2}-V_{2}O_{5}$ humidity sensors are fabricated by Sol-Gel method. For the establishment of optimum processing condition which is good humidity sensitive characteristics for specimens, their microstructures and crystalline-structures are analysed. Grain size increases with substitution rate of $V^{5+}$ on $Ti^{4+}$ site. From the analysis of XRD, $V^{5+}$ peak can't confirm with $V_{2}O_{5}$ rate. Their humidity sensitive characteristics is good at 1mol% of $V_{2}O_{5}$ rate and heat-treated at $700^{\circ}C$. The capacitance of specimens decreases with frequency.

Enhanced Visible Light Activity and Stability of TiO2 Nanopowder by co-doped with Mo and N

  • A visible light responsive N, Mo co-doped $TiO_2$ were prepared by sol-gel method. X-ray diffraction, TEM, $N_2$ adsorption, UV-vis spectroscopy, photoluminescence, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy were used to characterize the prepared $TiO_2$ samples. Doping restrained the phase transformation from anatase to rutile and reduced the particle sizes. The band gap was much narrowed after N, Mo co-doping. The photocatalytic activities were tested in the degradation of an aqueous solution of a reactive dyestuff, methylene blue, under visible light. The photocatalytic activities of doped $TiO_2$ were much higher than that of neat $TiO_2$. The photocatalytic stability of N, Mo co-doped $TiO_2$ was much better than that of N doped $TiO_2$.

The structural properties of the (Ba,Sr)(Nb,Ti)$O_3$[BSNT] thin films with $Ar/O_2$ rates ($Ar/O_2$비에 따른 (Ba, Sr)(Nb, Ti)$O_3$[BSNT] 박막의 구조적 특성)

  • In this study, the electrical properties were investigated for the deposited Ba,Sr)(Nb,Ti)$O_3$[BSNT] thin films grown on $Pt/TiO_2/SiO_2/Si$ substrate by RF sputtering method. The structural properties of the BSNT thin films affected by the $Ar/O_2$ rates were investigated. In the case of the BSNT thin films deposited with condition of 60/40$(Ar/O_2)$ ratio, the $BaTiO_3$, $SrTiO_3$ and $BaNbO_3$ phases were showed. The composition ratio of Nb and Ti in the BSNT thin films were nearly equivalent. Also, in the BSNT thin films deposited with condition of 60/40 and 80/20$(Ar/O_2)$ ratios, the composition of Ba, Sr, Nb and Ti were relatively uniform. The Ba, Sr, Nb and Ti in the BSTN thin films were not diffused into the Pt layer.
