  • LaSrCoO3 thin films were spin-coated onto the SrTiO3(100) substrates by the chemical solution process. X-ray diffraction $\theta$-2$\theta$ scans and X-ray diffraction $\beta$ scans were used to determine the crystallinity and in -plane alignment behavior of the films. The X-ray diffraction pattern showed the film obtained by annealing at 80$0^{\circ}C$ was highly oriented. The X-ray diffraction pole-figure analysis and reciprocal-space mapping (2$\theta$-$\Delta$$\omega$ scans) of the resulting film showed that the film comprising the pseduocubic phase had an epitaxial relationship with the SriO3 substrate.

  • We present $5-14{\mu}m$ Infrared Spectrograph spectra of 14 T Tauri stars which show Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon (PAH) features and reside in 0.7 pc from ${\Theta}_1$ Ori C. The spectral types of nine out of 11 stars have spectral type information, with types ranging from K7-M5. These stars do not supply strong enough UV photons to excite PAH emission in their disks. Therefore, we consider the detection of PAH emission in disks around low mass stars illuminated by an external source of UV photons, namely, from Trapezium OB association, including ${\Theta}_1$ Ori C. The morphological features of PAH emission from most disks around K-M type host stars are unique, not belonging to any known classes of PAH features. We found that the PAH emission strengths decrease as the projected distance of the objects from ${\Theta}_1$ Ori C increase. We suggest future far-IR and submm/mm observations for better understanding of the characteristics and distribution of PAHs in these disks.

  • Let {$V_{nk},\;k\;{\geq}\;1,\;{\geq}\;1$} be an array of rowwise independent random elements which are stochastically dominated by a random variable X with $E\|X\|^{\frac{\alpha}{\gamma}+{\theta}}log^{\rho}(\|X\|)\;<\;{\infty}$ for some ${\rho}\;>\;0,\;{\alpha}\;>\;0,\;{\gamma}\;>\;0,\;{\theta}\;>\;0$ such that ${\theta}+{\alpha}/{\gamma}<2$. Let {$a_{nk},k{\geq}1,n{\geq}1$) be an array of suitable constants. A complete convergence result is obtained for the weighted sums of the form $\sum{^\infty_k_=_1}\;a_{nk}V_{nk}$.

  • In this paper, we improve the full-Newton step infeasible interior-point algorithm proposed by Mansouri et al. [6]. The algorithm takes only one full-Newton step in a major iteration. To perform this step, the algorithm adopts the largest logical value for the barrier update parameter ${\theta}$. This value is adapted with the value of proximity function ${\delta}$ related to (x, y, s) in current iteration of the algorithm. We derive a suitable interval to change the parameter ${\theta}$ from iteration to iteration. This leads to more flexibilities in the algorithm, compared to the situation that ${\theta}$ takes a default fixed value.

  • In this paper, we study an special type of cyclic codes called skew cyclic codes over the ring ${\mathbb{F}}_p+v{\mathbb{F}}_p+v^2{\mathbb{F}}_p$, where p is a prime number. This set of codes are the result of module (or ring) structure of the skew polynomial ring (${\mathbb{F}}_p+v{\mathbb{F}}_p+v^2{\mathbb{F}}_p$)[$x;{\theta}$] where $v^3=1$ and ${\theta}$ is an ${\mathbb{F}}_p$-automorphism such that ${\theta}(v)=v^2$. We show that when n is even, these codes are either principal or generated by two elements. The generator and parity check matrix are proposed. Some examples of linear codes with optimum Hamming distance are also provided.

  • We consider the experimental design problem of selecting values of design variables x for observation of a response y that depends on x and on model parameters $\theta$. The form of the dependence may be quite general, including all linear and nonlinear modeling situations. The goal of the design selection is to efficiently estimate functions of $\theta$. Three new criteria for selecting design points x are presented. The criteria generalized the usual Bayesian optimal design criteria to situations n which the prior distribution for $\theta$ amy be uncertain. We assume that there are several possible prior distributions,. The new criteria are applied to the nonlinear problem of designing to estimate the turning point of a quadratic equation. We give both analytic and computational results illustrating the robustness of the optimal designs based on the new criteria.

  • We consider the problem of optimal adaptive estiamtion of the euclidean parameter vector $\theta$ of the univariate non-linerar autogressive time series model ${X_t}$ which is defined by the following system of stochastic difference equations ; $X_t = \sum^p_{i=1} \theta_i \cdot T_i(X_{t-1})+e_t, t=1, \cdots, n$, where $\theta$ is the unknown parameter vector which descrives the deterministic dynamics of the stochastic process ${X_t}$ and ${e_t}$ is the sequence of white noises with unknown density $f(\cdot)$. Under some general growth conditions on $T_i(\cdot)$ which guarantee ergodicity of the process, we construct a sequence of adaptive estimatros which is locally asymptotic minimax (LAM) efficient and also attains the least possible covariance matrix among all regular estimators for arbitrary symmetric density.

  • This paper describes an application step of a $R^{-{\theta}}$ method which measures circular movements in machining centers. The detection of composite errors of circular movements and a high precision cutting method in machining centers were investigated by the analysis of data measured by $R^{\theta }$method which can detect the rotating angle and is applicable to variable measuring radius. When the error by squareness error and unbalance of position-loop-gain were mixed, the detection method of each error was proposed. Although the errors by squarenss error and backlash compensation were mixed, the errors by squareness error be detected. If the errors by unbalance of position-loop-gain and backlash compensation were mixed, the errors by unbalance of position-loop-gain could not detected. A high precision cutting mehod, which uses the NC program compensated by using feed-back data from error measured by the $R^{\theta }$method, was proposed.

  • Local pool boiling on the outside and inside surfaces of a 51 mm diameter tube in horizontal direction has been studied experimentally in saturated water at atmospheric pressure. Much variation in local heat transfer coefficients was observed along the tube periphery. On the outside surface the maximum and the minimum are observed at ${\theta}=45^{\circ}$ and $180^{\circ}$, respectively. However, on the inside surface only the minimum was observed at ${\theta}=0^{\circ}$. Major mechanisms on the outside surface are liquid agitation and bubble coalescence while those on the inside surface are micro layer evaporation and liquid agitation. As the heat flux increases liquid agitation gets effective both on outside and inside surfaces. The local coefficients measured at ${\theta}=90^{\circ}$ can be recommended as the representative values of both outside and inside surfaces.

  • This study was designed to seek information on the heat charging and discharging characteristics of a multi-capsule type LTES(Latent Heat of Fusion Thermal Energy Storage) system, and especially prediction equation of outlet water temperature from the system. During heat charging process, the water temperature in the LTES tank increased very slowly in comparison with a predicted one and was kept near the melting point of the PCM for about 25 minutes. During heat discharging process, the latent heat discharging period of the outlet water temperature became longer as the inlet water temperature became higher and/or mass flow rate became lower. The dimensionless temperature of the outlet water was predicted by linking three equations of ${\theta}=1.1Exp(-{\tau}/0.82)$, ${\theta}=-0.06{\tau}+0.3$, ${\theta}=0.8Exp(-{\tau}/1.4)$ ($r^2{\leq}0.88$) depending on discharging period regardless of mass flow rates on the case of the inlet water temperature at $21.5^{\circ}C$.
