  • Seokgasan(石假山) is originated in Goryeo, is a Korean traditional technique handed down to Joseon and Seokgasan is the Korean creative culture of gardening by artificial stones, which replicates small artificial mountain of natural landscape in the garden. The object of this study is Seokgasan made by Seong-im(成任), who was a civil minister in Joseon and lived from 1421 to 1484, in his residence located in Inwang Mountain, Hanyang and the purpose of this study is to investigate the historical meaning and symbol of Seokgasan made by Seong-im on the base of the relative old literatures and embody its shape and structure. According to the result of this study on Seokgasan of Seong-im, it can find out some facts as follows; Seokgasan of Seong-im in the early Joseon succeeded to the structural form of Seokgasan of the artificial rock mountain type connected pond, which was made-up firstly in the garden of the Palace of Manwoldae in the Middle Goryeo, and it was called firstly as 'Seokgasan' in the garden of Seong-im's house. Seong-im's Seokgasan in the early Joseon had more concentrated philosophical meanings, including the idea of taoist immortal, than those in the Goryeo dynasty and was be emblematic of an imaginative space. Also there were lots of gardens modeled on the famous mountains and famous lakes in China much the same as the Goryeo dynasty. In addition, there was an exceptional purpose for building Seokgasan which could not be found in the Goryeo dynasty. That was practicality for emotional stability and cure. Seong-im's Seokgasan is record-relics with high value of landscape architecture history, which can identify its historical meanings, shapes and structural frames succeeded from the Goryeo dynasty.

  • Through multiple stage analysis, the biochores in Korea were classified and organized as a hierarchy system. In the 1st step, the isopleth lines of warmth index $100^{\circ}C,\;85^{\circ}C,\;55^{\circ}C\;\cdot$ month and the coldness index $-8^{\circ}C,\;or-10^{\circ}C\;\cdot$ month, which indicate the boundaries of plant formation zones (Yim and Kira 1975; Yim 1977), were applied in the determination of major biochores. In the 2nd step, these biochores were subdivided into the five classes based on Thornthwaite's moisture index (Im) and Yim and Kira (1976), as follows: $100{\le}Im,100 In the 3 rd step, the analysis of topographic features yielded three categories of flatlands, gentle slope, and steep slope areas. These were obtained by adopting the $100{\times}100-meter$ gridded DEM and by considering the physical features of the Korean Peninsula. The features of relief in mountainous areas, waters, islands, etc. were converted into climatic indices. This grouping of biochores serves as a useful tool for the interpretation of the distributional patterns of vegetation of vascular plants and similar phenomena.

  • A Femur is the longest and largest bone which supports body in human musculoskeletal structure. Therefore, it may cause heavy loss of blood when it is suffered by a simple or complex fracture, and the complication is very dangerous with a possibility of severe tissue damage. In this study, the femoral cancellous angle change is estimated in order to design the Korean femoral IM nail. Generally, it is various in the size and curvature of femoral cancellous bone depending on patient's body dimension. Therefore surgeon has difficulty in fitting this femoral IM nail to the patient in the surgical procedure. In our study, we tries to estimate femoral lateral curve angle with more precise method based on CT image of the femur and utilize this information on the design of femoral IM nail for Korean patients.

  • In 1970's Goodykoontz gave characterizations of connectedness imkleinen and locally arcwise connectedness of $2^X$ only at singleton set {x} ${\epsilon} 2^X$ [5,6,7]. In [7], we gave necessary conditions for C(X) to be arcwise connected im kileinen at any point $A {\epsilon} C(X)$.

  • We investigate the relationships between the space X and the hyperspaces concerning admissibility and connectedness im kleinen. The following results are obtained: Let X be a Hausdorff continuum, and let A, $B{\in}C(X)$ with $A{\subset}B$. (1) If X is c.i.k. at A, then X is c.i.k. at B if and only if B is admissible. (2) If A is admissible and C(X) is c.i.k. at A, then for each open set U containing A there is a continuum K and a neighborhood V of A such that $V{\subset}IntK{\subset}K{\subset}U$. (3) If for each open subset U of X containing A, there is a continuum B in C(X) such that $A{\subset}B{\subset}U$ and X is c.i.k. at B, then X is c.i.k. at A. (4) If X is not c.i.k. at a point x of X, then there is an open set U containing x and there is a sequence $\{S_i\}^{\infty}_{i=1}$ of components of $\bar{U}$ such that $S_i{\longrightarrow}S$ where S is a nondegenerate continuum containing the point x and $S_i{\cap}S={\emptyset}$ for each i = 1, 2, ${\cdots}$.

  • Recently, IM(Instant Messenger) of KakaoTalk is being used on smart devices such as smartphones. Because IM service can carry user and/or suspector's various information including life style, geographical position, psychology and crime history, forensic analysis on IM service is desirable. But, forensic analysis for KakaoTalk is not well studied yet. This paper studies a proper forensic method for KakaoTalks, finds artifacts location, reconstruct the list of contacts and the chronology of the messages that have been exchanged by users. Proposed methodology and analyzed information can provide a basic platform for forensic tool.

  • Karyotype analysis was carried out on blood samples of 30 water buffaloes belonging to different breed groups (i.e. Philippine Carabao (PC), Indian Murrah (IM), Bulgarian Murrah (BM), "$F_1$ 50% IM-50% PC", "$F_1$ 50% BM-50% PC" and "75% IM-25% PC"), using the modified Leucocyte Culture Technique. The modal chromosome numbers of the PC, "$F_1$ 50% IM-50% PC", "$F_1$ 50% BM-50% PC", IM, BM and "75% IM-25% PC" were 2n=48, 49, 49, 50, 50 and 50, respectively. The water buffalo chromosomes are mostly acrocentric (79.67%) and the remainder submetacentric (20.33%). Results of the ordinary least square analysis showed significant breed effects (p<0.01) on other karyotypic characteristics (i.e. relative length, arm ratio and centromeric index). Significant correlation between karyotypic characteristics and some animal performance traits were also found. The significant correlation values imply that karyotypic characteristics can be used as important criteria to select potentially productive young water buffaloes. In the future, more production and reproduction traits from non-institutional herds should be included in the analysis to reveal meaningful correlations with various karyotypic characteristics.
