Flood stage analysis considering the uncertainty of roughness coefficients and discharge for Cheongmicheon watershed (조도계수와 유량의 불확실성을 고려한 청미천 유역의 홍수위 해석)

  • The objective of this study was to analyze the flood stage considering the uncertainty caused by the river roughness coefficients and discharge. The methodology of this study involved the GLUE (Generalized Likelihood Uncertainty Estimation) to quantify the uncertainty bounds applying three different storm events. The uncertainty range of the roughness was 0.025~0.040. In case of discharge, the uncertainty stemmed from parameters in stage-discharge rating curve, if h represents stage for discharge Q, which can be written as $Q=A(h-B)^C$. Parameters in rating curve (A, B and C) were estimated by non-linear regression model and assumed by t distribution. The range of parameters in rating curve was 5.138~18.442 for A, -0.524~0.104 for B and 2.427~2.924 for C. By sampling 10,000 parameter sets, Monte Carlo simulations were performed. The simulated stage value was represented by 95% confidence interval. In storm event 1~3, the average bound was 0.39 m, 0.83 m and 0.96 m, respectively. The peak bound was 0.52 m, 1.36 m and 1.75 m, respectively. The recurrence year of each storm event applying the frequency analysis was 1-year, 10-year and 25-year, respectively.

Validation of Stem-loop RT-qPCR Method on the Pharmacokinetic Analysis of siRNA Therapeutics (Stem-loop RT-qPCR 분석법을 이용한 siRNA 치료제의 생체시료 분석법 검증 및 약물 동태학적 분석)

  • The first small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutics have recently been approved by the Food and Drug Administration in the U.S., and the demand for a new RNA therapeutics bioanalysis method-which is essential for pharmacokinetics, including the absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of siRNA therapeutics-is rapidly increasing. The stem-loop real-time qPCR (RT-qPCR) assay is a useful molecular technique for the identification and quantification of small RNA (e.g., micro RNA and siRNA) and can be applied for the bioanalysis of siRNA therapeutics. When the anti-HPV E6/E7 siRNA therapeutic was used in preclinical trials, the established stem-loop RT-qPCR assay was validated. The limit of detection was sensitive up to 10 fM and the lower limit of quantification up to 100 fM. In fact, the reliability of the established test method was further validated in three intra assays. Here, the correlation coefficient of $R^2$>0.99, the slope of -3.10 ~ -3.40, and the recovery rate within ${\pm}20%$ of the siRNA standard curve confirm its excellent robustness. Finally, the circulation profiles of siRNAs were demonstrated in rat serum, and the pharmacokinetic properties of the anti-HPV E6/E7 siRNA therapeutic were characterized using a stem-loop RT-qPCR assay. Therefore, the stemloop RT-qPCR assay enables accurate, precise, and sensitive siRNA duplex quantification and is suitable for the quantification of small RNA therapeutics using small volumes of biological samples.

Reverse Baby-step 2k-ary Adult-step Method for 𝜙((n) Decryption of Asymmetric-key RSA (비대칭키 RSA의 𝜙(n) 해독을 위한 역 아기걸음- 2k-ary 성인걸음법)

  • When the public key e and the composite number n=pq are disclosed but not the private key d in an asymmetric-key RSA, message decryption is carried out by obtaining ${\phi}(n)=(p-1)(q-1)=n+1-(p+q)$ and subsequently computing $d=e^{-1}(mod{\phi}(n))$. The most commonly used decryption algorithm is integer factorization of n/p=q or $a^2{\equiv}b^2$(mod n), a=(p+q)/2, b=(q-p)/2. But many of the RSA numbers remain unfactorable. This paper therefore applies baby-step giant-step discrete logarithm and $2^k$-ary modular exponentiation to directly obtain ${\phi}(n)$. The proposed algorithm performs a reverse baby-step and $2^k$-ary adult-step. As a results, it reduces the execution time of basic adult-step to $1/2^k$ times and the memory $m={\lceil}\sqrt{n}{\rceil}$ to l, $a^l$ > n, hence obtaining ${\phi}(n)$ by executing within l times.

GHz Bandwidth Characteristics of Rectangular Spiral type Thin Film Inductors (사각 나선형 박막 인덕터의 GHz 대역 특성)

  • In this research, characteristics of air core rectangular spiral type inductors of ㎓ band are numerical analyzed. The basic structure of inductors is a rectangular spiral having 390${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$${\times}$390${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ size, 5.5 turns, line width of 10 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and line space of 10 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. Frequency characteristics were simulated up to 10 ㎓. The substrate was modeled as Si, Sapphire, glass and GaAs and the conductor as Cu. The thickness of the conductor was fixed at 2. The number of turns was n.5 to make the input and output terminals to be on the opposite sides. The initial inductance of the basic inductor structure was 13.0 nH, maximum inductance 60.0 nH and resonance frequency 4.25 ㎓. As the dielectric constant of the substrate was increased, the initial inductance varied only slightly, but the resonance frequency decreased considerably. As the number of turns was varied from 1.5 to 9.5, the initial inductance was increased linearly from 2.9 nH to 15.9 nH and, then, saturated at 16.9 nH. The Q factor increased only slightly. The line width and line space of inductors were varied from 5 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ to 20 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, which resulted in the decrease of the initial and maximum inductances. But the resonance frequency was increased. Q factor displayed an increase and a decrease, respectively, when the line width and line space were increased.

Numerical modeling of tidal discharge through a permeable dyke from varying surface gradients (내·외 수위차를 이용한 투수성 제체의 조류량 모델링)

  • 서해안 중부 아산만 안쪽에 위치하는 평택·당진항에서 장래 개발 예정인 면적 6.9km2의 내항2공구 수역은 내항2공구 외곽호안 - 내항가호안 - 내항2공구 중앙 분리호안으로 둘러싸여 있으며, 투수성 제체인 내항가호안 사석 공극을 통하여 해수가 유통되어 조석 현상이 나타나고 있다. 2020년 8~9월의 2개월간 내항2공구 외곽호안 내·외측에서 조석 관측 결과, 2공구 수역의 최대 조차는 1.97m로서 외측 해역 최대 조차 9.79m의 20.1%이고 내·외측의 순간 수위차는 최대 5.82m에 달한다. 내항가호안은 내항2공구 개발이 거의 완료되는 시기까지 유지될 예정이므로 2공구 개발에 따른 내측 조차와 내·외측 수위차의 변화를 정확하게 예측하는 것은 내항가호안 제체 안전에 매우 중요하다. 이 연구의 목적은 장래 개발단계별 변화 예측에 앞서, 관측이 이루어진 2개월간의 실시간 내측 조석과 내·외측 수위차 시계열을 Delft3D-Flow를 이용하여 기 구축된 아산만 수치모델에서 재현하는 것이다. 내항가호안 제체 통과 유량은 내·외측 수위차에 비례하는 것으로 가정하고, 수위차 - 유량 관계식을 도출하였다. 수위차는 평택 조위관측소와 내항2공구 수역의 1분 간격 관측 조위로부터 산출하였고, 제체 통과 유량은 내측 조위(z, 평택항 DL 기준, m) - 수용적(V, 106m3) 관계식으로 계산하였다. 내측 조위 - 수용적 관계식은 수심측량 성과로부터 V = 0.28z2 + 3.73z + 2.96 (r2=1.00)으로 얻어졌다. 다양한 함수식의 적합성을 검토한 결과, 다음과 같은 수위차(𝚫z, m) - 제체 통과 유량(Q, m3/s) 관계식을 도출하였다. [내항가호안 내측으로 유입시] $Q_{IN}=\{\begin{array}{lll}{\exp}\{0.54\;{\ln}({\Delta}z)+6.00\}&&\text{; }{\Delta}z{\leq}1.8\\219.82{\Delta}z+158.56&&\text{; }{\Delta}z>1.8\end{array}\;\;(r^2=0.86)$ [내항가호안 외측으로 유출시] QOUT = -exp{0.44 ln(-𝚫z) + 5.70} (r2=0.59) 매 𝚫t 마다 제체 통과 유량을 계산하는 알고리즘을 Delft3D 소스 코드에 추가하고, 8개 분조 합성조석(M2, S2, K1, O1, N2, K2, P1, Q1)을 외력조건으로 설정하여 2개월간 조석 수치모델링을 수행하였다. 내항2공구 수역의 매 시별 조위 관측치와 모델치를 비교한 결과, 오차는 -0.37~0.37m의 범위이고, 오차 평균은 0.02m, 절대오차 평균은 0.08m로 상당히 정확하게 실시간 조위 변동을 모의하였다. 보정·검정된 이 모델을 이용하여 향후 내항2공구 개발에 따른 내측 조석과 내·외측 수위차 변화에 대한 예측모의를 진행할 예정이다.

Analysis of Marker Components of Fermented Opuntia ficus-indica var. saboten Stem Extracts (유산균 발효에 의한 손바닥선인장 줄기추출물의 지표물질 함량 변화 분석)

  • The fruit and stem of Opuntia ficus-indica var. aboten (OFS), a native plant of Jeju Island, are considered a safe food source. Moreover, stem extracts have been previously reported to possess a variety of biological effects (e.g. anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant, including the ability to partially ameliorate cognitive impairment), suggesting that this plant may have utility as a functional food. The present study investigated whether fermentation by lactic acid bacteria enhances the biological effects of OFS extracts. The acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitory activity of fermented or non-fermented OFS extracts was evaluated, and the content of marker components dihydrokaempferol (DHK) and quercetin-3-methyl ether (3-MeQ) was analyzed using high-performance liquid chromatography. Fermented (relative to non-fermented) OFS extracts exhibited improved AChE inhibitory activity ($IC_{50}=28.35 mg/mL$), with AChE inhibitory activity resulting from fermentation by L. plantarum ($IC_{50}=12.56mg/mL$) exceeding that resulting from fermentation by L. fermentum ($IC_{50}=17.71mg/mL$). Furthermore, fermented (relative to non-fermented) OFS extracts exhibited a 16.7 % increase in DHK content, and 3-MeQ content of OFS extracts fermented by L. plantarum and L. fermentum increased by 28.6 % and 21.4 %, respectively. Therefore, OFS stem extract AChE inhibitory activity, as well as DHK and 3-MeQ content, was enhanced by fermentation with Lactobacillus spp. This suggests that fermented OFS extracts may contribute to prevention or improvement of cognitive impairment. These data are anticipated to be useful in the development of enhanced-efficacy OFS products.

Soil Respiration Rates in Cryptomeria japonica D. Don, Chamaecyparis obtusa Endl., and Quercus glauca Thunb. Stands (삼나무, 편백, 종가시나무 임분의 토양호흡에 관한 연구)

  • The quantification of soil respiration rates is important to understand carbon cycles of forest ecosystems. Soil respiration rates were assessed using Li-8100A soil flux system in one evergreen broadleaved (Quercus glauca Thunb.) and two coniferous (Cryptomeria japonica D. Don and Chamaecyparis obtusa Endl.) stands from May 2020 to April 2022 in southern Korea. Monthly variations of soil respiration rates were higher in the Q. glauca stand than in the C. japonica and the C. obtusa stands. The mean soil respiration rates were significantly higher in the Q. glauca stand (2.63µmol m-2 s-1) than in the C. japonica (0.93µmol m-2 s-1) and C. obtusa (0.99µmol m-2 s-1) stands. The three stands showed exponential relationships between soil respiration rates and soil temperature (R2 = 0.44-0.80). The sensitivity of temperature (Q10 values) to soil respiration rates was highest in the Q. glauca stand (5.13), followed by the C. obtusa (3.10) and C. japonica (2.58) stands. These results indicate that soil respiration rates can be increased more in evergreen broadleaved stands than in coniferous stands under enhanced soil temperature.

Spatial Distribution of Fine Roots in Quercus mongolica and Quercus acutissima Stands (신갈나무와 상수리나무 숲에서 細根의 空間分布)

  • Vertical and horizontal distribution and seasonal changes of fine roots as well as inorganic nitrogen content in soil were determined in Quercus mongolica and Quercus acutissima stands in Mt. Taemosan, Seoul. The vertical distribution of fine rooth phytomass showed a power-functional decrease as descending soil depth. Fine root phytomass was 170 g $DM/m^2$(46%) and 225 g $DM/m^2$(47%) in top soil of 5 cm depth, and 370 g $DM/m^2$ and 480 g $DM/m^2$ from soil surface to 50 cm depth in Q. mongolica and Q. acutissima stands, respectively. Fine roots in relation to the distance from the nearest tree were evenly distributed horizontally in both stands. Fine roots phytomass in top soil of 5 cm depth reached a peak in June, and thereafter decreased gradually in both stands. Patterns of seasonal changes in fine root phytomass were closely related to inorganic nitrogen and moisture content.

m-ADIC RESIDUE CODES OVER Fq[v]/(v2 - v) AND DNA CODES

  • In this study we determine the structure of m-adic residue codes over the non-chain ring $F_q[v]/(v^2-v)$ and present some promising examples of such codes that have optimal parameters with respect to Griesmer Bound. Further, we show that the generators of m-adic residue codes serve as a natural and suitable application for generating reversible DNA codes via a special automorphism and sets over $F_{4^{2k}}[v]/(v^2-v)$.

ON RELATIVE CLASS NUMBER AND CONTINUED FRACTIONS

  • The relative class number $H_d(f)$ of a real quadratic field $K=\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{m})$ of discriminant d is the ratio of class numbers of $O_f$ and $O_K$, where $O_K$ denotes the ring of integers of K and $O_f$ is the order of conductor f given by $\mathbb{Z}+fO_K$. In a recent paper of A. Furness and E. A. Parker the relative class number of $\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{m})$ has been investigated using continued fraction in the special case when $(\sqrt{m})$ has a diagonal form. Here, we extend their result and show that there exists a conductor f of relative class number 1 when the continued fraction of $(\sqrt{m})$ is non-diagonal of period 4 or 5. We also show that there exist infinitely many real quadratic fields with any power of 2 as relative class number if there are infinitely many Mersenne primes.
