Dielectric Passivation Effects for the Prevention of the Failures and for the Improvement of the Reliability in Microelectronic Thin Film Interconnections (극미세 전자소자 박막배선의 결함방지 및 신뢰도 향상을 위한 절연보호막 효과)

  • 절연보호막에 따른 AI-1%Si 박막배선의 평균수명(MTF, Mean-Time-to-Failure) 및 electromigration에 대한 저항성, 즉 활성화에너지(Q)변화 등을 측정 비교하였다. 박막배선은 $5000\AA$두께로 열산화막 처리된 p-Si(100)기판위에 $7000\AA$의 AI-1%Si을 증착한 후 photolithography 공정으로 형성시켰다. Electromigration test를 위한 박막배선은 $3\mu$m의 폭과 $400\mu$m, $1600\mu$m의 두 가지 길이를 가지며 절연보호막 효과를 알아보기 위해 그 위에 $3000\AA$의 두께로 SiO2, PSG, Si3N4등 절연보호막을 APCVD 및 PECVD를 이용하여 각각 증착시켰다. 가속화 실험을 위해 인가된 전류밀도는 4.5X106A/cm2이었고 180, 210, $240^{\circ}C$온도에서 d.c. 인가 후의 저항변화를 측정하여 평균수명을 구한 후 Black 방정식을 이용하여 활성화에너지를 측정하였다. AI-1%Si 박막배선에서 electromigration에 대한 활성화에너지값은 $400\mu$m길이의 경우 0.44eV(nonpassivated), 0.45eV(Si3N4 passivated), 0.50 eV(PSG passivated), 그리고 0.66 eV(SiO2 passivated)로 각각 측정되었다. $1600\mu$m 길이의 AI-1%Si 박막배선 실험에서도 같은 절연보호막 효과가 관찰되었다. 따라서 SiO2, PSG, Si3N4등 절연보호막은 AI-1%Si 박막배선에서의 electromigration에 대한 저항력을 높여 결함방지효과를 보이며 수명을 향상시킨다. SiO2의 절연보호막의 경우가 AI-1%Si 박막배선의 electromigration에 대한 가장 강한 저항력을 보이며 평균수명도 높게 나타났다.

A Probabilistic Approach for Mobile Robot Localization under RFID Tag Infrastructures

  • SLAM(Simultaneous localization and mapping) and AI(Artificial intelligence) have been active research areas in robotics for two decades. In particular, localization is one of the most important issues in mobile robot research. Until now expensive sensors like a laser sensor have been used for the mobile robot's localization. Currently, as the RFID reader devices like antennas and RFID tags become increasingly smaller and cheaper, the proliferation of RFID technology is advancing rapidly. So, in this paper, the smart floor using passive RFID tags is proposed and, passive RFID tags are mainly used to identify the mobile robot's location on the smart floor. We discuss a number of challenges related to this approach, such as RFID tag distribution (density and structure), typing and clustering. In the smart floor using RFID tags, because the reader just can senses whether a RFID tag is in its sensing area, the localization error occurs as much as the sensing area of the RFID reader. And, until now, there is no study to estimate the pose of mobile robot using RFID tags. So, in this paper, two algorithms are suggested to. We use the Markov localization algorithm to reduce the location(X,Y) error and the Kalman Filter algorithm to estimate the pose(q) of a mobile robot. We applied these algorithms in our experiment with our personal robot CMR-P3. And we show the possibility of our probability approach using the cheap sensors like odometers and RFID tags for the mobile robot's localization on the smart floor.

Obtaining 3-D Depth from a Monochrome Shaded Image (단시안 명암강도를 이용한 물체의 3차원 거리측정)

  • An iterative scheme for computing the three-dimensional position and the surface orientation of an opaque object from a singel shaded image is proposed. This method demonstrates that calculating the depth(distance) between the camera and the object from one shaded video image is possible. Most previous research works on $'Shape from Shading$' problem, even in the $'Photometric Stereo Method$', invoved the determination of surface orientation only. To measure the depth of an object, depth of the object, and the reflectance properties of the surface. Assuming that the object surface is uniform Lambertian the measured intensity level at a given image pixel*x,y0becomes a function of surface orientation and depth component of the object. Derived Image Irradiance Equation can`t be solved without further informations since three unknown variables(p,q and D) are in one nonlinear equation. As an additional constraints we assume that surface satisfy smoothness conditions. Then equation can be solved relaxatively using standard methods of TEX>$'Calculus of VariationTEX>$'. After checking the sensitivity of the algorithm to the errors ininput parameters, the theoretical results is tested by experiments. Three objects (plane, cylinder, and sphere)are used. Thees initial results are very encouraging since they match the theoretical calculations within 20$\%$ error in simple experiments.> error in simple experiments.

Vegetation history around Yongneup moor at Mt. Daeamsan, Korea

  • A pollen analytical study of sediment sequences collected from Yongneup moor (sampling point: $38^{\circ}$12'57.4" N, $120^{\circ}$7'30.2" E) was conducted to understand the vegetation history in the mountainous region of the central Korean peninsula. Carbon dating was carried out to measure five successive samples obtained from the bottom at a depth of 180 cm to the surface. The Yongneup moor sediment revealed four main local pollen zones; that is, four past vegetation phases as follows: Local pollen zone I: Quercus-Pinus zone; estimated age, 5,900-4,800 calibrated years (cal) before present (BP); vegetation type, cool-temperate central/montane deciduous broad-leaved forest. Local pollen zone II: Pinus-Abies-Quercus zone; estimated age, 4,800-3,400 cal BP; vegetation type, cool-temperate northern/alti-montane mixed coniferous and deciduous broad-leaved forest. Local pollen zone III: Quercus-Pinus-Abies zone; estimated age, 3,400-400 cal BP; vegetation type: cool-temperate central/montane deciduous broad-leaved forest. Local pollen zone IV: Pinus-Quercus zone; estimated age, 400-present cal BP; vegetation type, cool-temperate central/montane mixed deciduous broad-leaved and coniferous forest. It was confirmed that subalpine coniferous forests had expanded to the mountainous region of the central Korean peninsula during the period from 4,800-3,400 cal BP and thereafter deciduous forests dominated by Q. mongolica were established. Notably, secondary forests dominated by P. densiflora developed in the lower part of the mountainous region of the central Korean peninsula about 400 cal BP due to human interference.

Quality Characteristics of Instant Coffee with Probiotics and Microground Coffee (Probiotics와 미세분쇄 원두커피가 첨가된 인스턴트 커피의 품질적 특성)

  • Bacillus coagulans was added as probiotics in instant coffee with microground roasted coffee which is recently rising premium coffee and the instant coffee (ProBio coffee) was compared with 3 commercial instant coffees with microground roasted coffee in quality characteristics to understand the competitiveness of ProBio coffee. In sensory evaluation, ProBio coffee had inferior aroma intensity and overall acceptance compared with control group (brewed coffee) (p<0.05) but it had equal quality or more compared with 3 commercials. Total polyphenol content, chlorogenic acid content, DPPH free radical scavenging activity and caffeine content were $110.72{\pm}1.99mg/g$, $2,700{\pm}20mg/g$, $146.22{\pm}3.62TEAC\;mg/g$, $28.1{\pm}3.2ppm$ respectively. In general quality characteristics, water content, solubility, particle size and particle strength of ProBio coffee were similar to general instant coffee but had darker color than it. In safety assessment, acrylamide content was $502{\pm}10ppb$, and residual pesticides and ochratoxin A were not detected. Over 70% of B. coagulans were maintained in 4 months of storage and 16 months of shelf life was predicted in ProBio coffee by $Q_{10}$ model. Therefore, ProBio coffee was confirmed to have a sufficient product competiveness compared with 3 commercials.

Design of H.264 deblocking filter for the Low-Power Portable Multimedia (저전력 휴대용 멀티미디어를 위한 H.264 디블록킹 필터 설계)

  • This paper proposed a H.264 deblocking filter for the portable low-power multimedia. In H.264 deblocking filter, total 8 input pixels in filtering operations needs own filtering operation process respectively, and each filtering process has common structures for each filtering operation. By sharing common filter coefficients and registers, we have designed and implemented an smaller gated module, and moreover filtering operations are skipped on some or whole pixels what if we use some specific condition to operate filtering modules that need lots of operations. In the core of filtering modules, we achieve 33.31% and 10.85% gate count reduction compared with those of filtering modules of the conventional deblocking filter papers. The proposed low-power deblocking filter is implemented by using samsung 0.35um standard cell library technology, the maximum operationh frequency is 108MHz, and the maximum throughput is 33.03 frames/s with CCIR601 image format.

Low Temperature Sintering and Piezoelectric Properties of PCW-PMN-PZT Ceramics with the Variation of Sintering Aids (소결조제 변화에 따른 PCW-PMN-PZT세라믹스의 저온소결 및 압전특성)

  • In this study, in order to develop the low temperature sintering ceramics for multilayer piezoelectric transformer, PCW-PMN-PZT ceramics added with Li$_2$CO$_3$, Bi$_2$O$_3$ and CuO as sintering aids were manufactured, and their microstructural, dielectric and piezoelectric properties were investigated. When the only CuO was added, specimens could not be sintered below 98$0^{\circ}C$. However, when Li$_2$CO$_3$ and Bi$_2$O$_3$ were added, specimens could be sintered below 98$0^{\circ}C$. Li$_2$CO$_3$ and Bi$_2$O$_3$ addition were proved to lower sintering temperature of piezoelectric ceramics due to the effect of Li$_2$O-Bi$_2$O$_3$ liquid phase. Li$_2$CO$_3$ and Bi$_2$O$_3$ added specimens showed higher piezoelectric properties than those of the only CuO added specimens. At 0.2 wt% Li$_2$CO$_3$ and 0.3 wt% Bi$_2$O$_3$ added specimen sintered at 92$0^{\circ}C$, the dielectric constant of 1457, electromechanical coupling factor of 0.56 and mechanical quality factor of 1000 were shown, respectively. These values are suitable for multilayer piezoelectric transformer application.

Batch-Specific Quality of the Reproductive Outputs and Nursery Acclimation in the Seed Production of Patinopecten yessoensis - case study on Korean coasts of the East Sea (참가리비(Patinopectin yessoensis) 종패 생산중 모패의 산란횟수별 유생의 질적특성 및 동해 연안환경 적응력)

  • We studied two research items that can be undetermined issues in the artificial seed production of the Japanese scallops, Patinopecten yessoensis, batch-specific quality of the reproductive outputs and nursery acclimation, in the embayed waters of Yangyang, Gangwon, Korea. The first batch of the spawner showed better results in terms of survival, growth, and resistance against parasitic ciliate infection over the second batch that was obtained in 5 days after first batch from the same spawner. The early attached spats directly placed in the farming ground (the unacclimated) were resistant against the water current of the open environment, by showing survival of about 80% for a month, a normal survival compared with other results. However, the spat survival during the nursery acclimation was significantly lowered in comparison with that in the unacclimated condition (P<0.01). We discussed the research results of the two items, particularly focusing on their availability for mass seed production for aquaculture in the Korean coastal waters of the East Sea (Sea of Japan).

Cytogenetic and Molecular Genetic Studies on Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy에 관한 세포유전학 및 분자유전학적 연구)

  • Purpose ; 본 연구는 X-염색체와 관련된 장애 중에서 가장 흔하고 심한 Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy(DMD)의 세포유전학 및 분자유전학적 특성을 설명하기 위해서 DMD에 영향을 받고 있는 두 가계의 13명을 대상으로 가계도 분석과 염색체 분석 및 DNA 분석을 하였다. Method ; DNA분석은 DNA probe을 이용한 Southern blotting method로써 RFLPs와 DMD유전자 부위의 exon소실 유무를 조사하여 아래와 같은 결과를 얻었다. Conclusion ; A 염색체 분석 : 말초혈액과 양수를 표본으로 High-Resolution GTG염색에서 A가계와 B가계의 염색체 분석에서 12명의 염색체는 정상 X-염색체였으나 B가계의 I-2(DMD여성)에서 46, x,-x,+t(2:x)(q 21.1 : p21.2)로 나타난다. B. DNA분석3 : 1) RFLPs의 분석 J66,XJ-1.1,754-11로써 B가계의 RELPs(Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphisms)에서 J66/Pst I은 1.7hb(E), 1.6kb(e)을 보여 주었고 XJ-1.1/Taq I은 3.6kb(F), 3.0kb(f), 754-11/EoR I은 4.2kb(G), 2.0kb(g)의 대립인자를 나타내었다. 이상의 결과를 바탕으로 영향을 받고 있는 남자 (II-2)의 haplotype는 보인자인 어머니의 한쪽 인자를 받았으며 어머니와 딸은 보인자이고 임산부의 태아는 남아였고 태아의 인자들은 그의 할아버지로부터 물려받아 DMD에 영향을 받지 않은 것으로 진단되었다. 2) DMD 유전자의 exon 소실에 대한 분석 cDNA probe 8과 cDNA probe 2b-3으로써 소실에 대한 진단은 영향을 받은 남자(II-2)는 cDNA probe 8에서 12, 7.3, 6.6, 4.2kb에 소실이 있고 cDNA 2b-3은 1.7kb에 소실에 나타났다.

Toxicogenomic Effect of Liver-toxic Environmental Chemicals in Human Hepatoma Cell Line

  • Some environmental chemicals have been shown to cause liver-toxicity as the result of bioaccumulation. Particularly, fungicides have been shown to cause varying degrees of hepatictoxicity and to disrupt steroid hormone homeostasis in in vivo models. The principal objective of this study was to evaluate the liver-toxic responses of environmental chemicals-in this case selected fungicides and parasiticides-in order to determine whether or not this agent differentially affected its toxicogenomic activities in hepatic tumor cell lines. To determine the gene expression profiles of 3 fungicides (triadimefon, myclobutanil, vinclozolin) and 1 parasiticide (dibutyl phthalate), we utilized a modified HazChem human array V2. Additionally, in order to observe the differential alterations in its time-dependent activities, we conducted two time (3 hr, 48 hr) exposures to the respective IC20 values of four chemicals. As a result, we analyzed the expression profiles of a total of 1638 genes, and we identified 70 positive significant genes and 144 negative significant genes using four fungicidic and parasiticidic chemicals, using SAM (Significant Analysis of Microarray) methods (q-value<0.5%). These genes were analyzed and identified as being related to apoptosis, stress responses, germ cell development, cofactor metabolism, and lipid metabolism in GO functions and pathways. Additionally, we found 120 genes among those time-dependently differentially expressed genes, using 1-way ANOVA (P-value<0.05). These genes were related to protein metabolism, stress responses, and positive regulation of apoptosis. These data support the conclusion that the four tested chemicals have common toxicogenomic effects and evidence respectively differential expression profiles according to exposure time.
