Photocatalytic Degradation of Methylene Blue by Pd/MWCNT/TiO2 under UV and Visible Light Irradiation

  • Pd/MWCNT/$TiO_2$ composites were synthesized by a sol-gel technique using multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT), palladium (II) chlorite ($PdCl_2$) and titanium tetrachloride ($TiCl_4$) as the carbon, palladium and titanium precursors. The Pd/MWCNT/$TiO_2$ composites prepared were characterized by BET surface area measurements, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The photocatalytic activity of the composites was evaluated using the degradation of methylene blue (MB) under UV and visible light irradiation as a model.

  • 고정층 상압 흐름 반응기에서 메탄의 부분산화반응를 수행하여 메탄으로부터 수소제조 위한 촉매의 활성도를 평가하였고, BET, XPS, XRD를 사용하여 촉매의 특성을 분석하였다. Pd(5)/Ti-SPK과 Pd(5)/Zr-SPK 촉매의 BET 표면적, Horvath-Kawaze의 기공부피와 기공폭, t-플롯 미세기공 면적과 부피는 각각 $284m^2/g$, $0.233cm^3/g$, 3.9 nm, $30m^2/g$ $0.015cm^3/g$$396m^2/g$, $0.324cm^3/g$, 3.7 nm, $119m^2/g$, $0.055cm^3/g$이었다. 촉매는 히스테리시스가 잘 발달된 IV형 임을 $N_2$-흡착등온선으로부터 확인할 수 있었다. XPS분석으로부터 SPK에 Ti와 Zr이 부분 치환된 Ti-SPK과 Zr-SPK의 Si 2p과 O 1s 피크는 SPK의 Si 2p와 O 1s 피크 보다 낮은 결합에너지 쪽으로 화학 이동함을 알 수 있었고, 촉매표면의 Pd의 산화상태는 $Pd^0$$Pd^{+2}$이었다. XRD의 결정 피크는 반응 전에 무정형인 촉매가 반응 후에는 결정상으로 변함을 보여주었다. Pd(5)/Ti-SPK과 Pd(5)/Zr-SPK 촉매의 메탄의 전화율과 수소의 선택도는 973 K, $CH_4/O_2$ = 2, GHSV = $8.4{\times}10^4mL/g_{cat}{\cdot}h$. 반응조건에서 각각 77, 84%와 78, 72%이었고, 반응 시작 후 3일까지도 촉매의 활성이 거의 일정하게 유지되었다. Pd(5)/Ti-SPK과 Pd(5)/Zr-SPK 촉매는 메탄의 부분산화반응에서 활성도와 열 안정성 및 물리화학적 성질이 우수하였다.

  • 주성분 분석 및 역전달 인공 신경망의 패턴 인식 기법과 산화물 반도체 가스센서 어레이를 사용한 소형 전자코 시스템을 제작하여 그 특성을 평가하였다. 센서 어레이로서 Pd가 첨가된 $WO_{3}$, Pt가 첨가된 $SnO_{2}$, $TiO_{2}-Sb_{2}O_{5}-Pd$가 첨가된 $SnO_{2}$, $TiO_{2}-Sb_{2}O_{5}-Pd$가 첨가된 후 Pd 코팅층이 형성된 $SnO_{2}$, $Al_{2}O_{3}$가 첨가된 ZnO 및 $PdCl_{2}$가 첨가된 $SnO_{2}$ 등의 6가지 조성의 감지재료가 사용되었다. 전자코 시스템 하드웨어는 CPU로서 16bit의 Intel 80c196kc, 시스템 동작 프로그램의 저장을 위한 EPROM, 인공 신경망의 최적화된 가중치의 다운로딩을 위한 EEPROM, 가스농도의 결과 표시를 위한 LCD 등으로 구성하였다. 시스템의 성능 평가를 위해 자동차에서 배출되는 환경오염 물질인 CO/HC 가스(CO 0%/HC 0 ppm 에서 CO 7.6%/HC 400 ppm 까지 범위의 26가지 CO/HC 혼합가스 패턴)에 대한 인식 실험 결과 우수한 특성을 얻을 수 있었다.

  • In order to fabricate the multilayer piezoelectric transformer by tape casting method, we investigated the effect of $TiO_2$ and PZT powder additions on the Ag/Pd electrode. Meanwhile, effects of $TiO_2$ and PZT powder additives on the microstructure and electrical properties of Ag/Pd electrode were investigated in detail. In addition, the multilayer piezoelectric transformers were fabricated and the characteristics with various load resistance were measured at resonance frequency. The voltage step-up ratio was continuously change with increasing input voltage and load resistance, and then output voltage and powers were increased with increasing input voltage at matching impedance. The temperature rise of multilayer piezoelectric transformers were increased with increasing input voltage and load resistance. Meanwhile, multilayer piezoelectric transformers sintered at $1100^{\circ}C$ show the favorable characteristics with a power of 15 W at $100\;{\Omega}$.

Taguchi 실험 계획법에 의한 CH3SH 반도체 악취 가스 센서의 개발 (Development of a Semiconductor Odor Gas Sensor for the Measurement of CH3SH with Taguchi Experimental Design)

  • In this study, a thick-film semiconductor odor gas sensor for the detection of $CH_3$SH was developed using SnO$_2$ as the main substrate and was investigated in terms of its sensitivity and reaction time. In the process of manufacturing the sensor, Taguchi's design of experiment (DOE) was applied to analyze the effects of a variety of parameters, including the substrate, the additives and the fabrication conditions, systematically and effectively. Eight trials of experiments could be possible using the 27 orthogonal array for the seven factors and two levels of condition, which originally demands 128 trials of experiments without DOE. The additives of Sb$_2$O$_{5}$ and PdCl$_2$ with the H$_2$PtCl$_{6}$ ㆍ6$H_2O$ catalyst were appeared to be important factors to improve the sensitivity, and CuO, TiO$_2$, V$_2$O$_{5}$ and PdO were less important. In addition, TiO$_2$, V$_2$O$_{5}$ and PdO would improve the reaction time of a sensor, and CuO, Sb$_2$O$_{5}$, PdCl$_2$ and H$_2$PtCl$_{6}$ㆍ6$H_2O$ were negligible. Being evaluated simultaneously in terms of both sensitivity and reaction time, the sensor showed the higher performance with the addition of TiO$_2$ and PdO, but the opposite results with the addition of CuO, V$_2$O$_{5}$, Sb$_2$O$_{5}$ and PdCl$_2$. The amount of additives were superior in the case of 1% than 4%. H$_2$PtCl$_{6}$ㆍ6$H_2O$ would play an important role for the increase of sensor performance as a catalyst.nce as a catalyst.

  • [ $TiO_{2},\;Pd,\;Pt$ ]와 In을 사용하여 trimethylamine gas에 대한 감도를 향상시키는 $SnO_{2}$ 가스센서에 대하여 연구하였다. 금속-$SnO_{2}$ 후막은 백금전극이 내장된 알루미나 지지체에 스크린 법으로 제작하였다. 센서의 특성은 검출가스 농도의 함수로서 반응기내 각 센서의 전기적 저항을 측정하여 조사하였으며, $100{\sim}1000ppm$범위의 trimethylamine, dimethylamine과 암모니아가스에 대하여 측정하였다. 그 결과, 금속-$SnO_{2}$의 가스 검출특성은 금속의 종류와 양에 따라 결정되었으며, $250^{\circ}C$에서 trimethylamine에 대한 센서의 감도와 선택성은 1 wt%, Pd와 10 wt%, $TiO_{2}$를 첨가하였을 때 감도가 가장 우수한 것으로 나타났다.

열산화법으로 생성된 TiO2 중간보호층이 Ti/RuO2-PdO-TiO2전극의 염소발생 효율 및 내구성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Thermally Grown TiO2 Interlayer on Chlorine Evolution Efficiency and Durability of Ti/RuO2-PdO-TiO2 Electrodes)

  • Not only efficiency of chlorine evolution reaction (CER) but also durability namely service life is very important property in dimensional stable anode for Ballast Water Management System (BWMS) for marine ships. Many researchers have been focused on improving efficiency of CER by controlling composition, phase and surface area for a long time, but the efforts to increase durability was relatively small. In this study, we have investigated the effect of $TiO_2$ protective interlayers on efficiency and durability of DSA electrodes. $TiO_2$ protective interlayers were prepared by thermal oxidation at 500, 600 and $700^{\circ}C$ on Ti substrate. And then the DSA electrodes consisting of $Ti/RuO_2-PdO-TiO_2$ were prepared by thermal decomposition method on $TiO_2$ interlayers. The efficiencies of CER of DSA electrodes without $TiO_2$ interlayer and with $TiO_2$ interlayer grown at 500, 600 and $700^{\circ}C$ were 94.19, 94.45, 84.60 and 76.75% respectively. On the otherhand, durabilities were 30, 55, 90 and 65 hours respectively. In terms of industrial aspect, the performance of DSA is considered high efficiency and durability which can correspond to total production of chlorine. If we considered the performance index of DSA as the product of efficiency and durability, performance indices could be recalculated as 28.26, 50.85, 76.14 and 49.89 respectively. As the thermal oxidation temperature increasing, life time were increased remarkerbly, while efficiency of CER was decreased slightly. As a result, DSA electrode with $TiO_2$ interlayer grown at $600^{\circ}C$ has shown about 2.7 times performace of original DSA electrode without $TiO_2$ interlayer.

수중 Dibenzothiophene의 광촉매 분해에 관한 연구 (Photocatalytic Degradation of Dibenzothiophene in Aqueous Phase)

  • In this research, the photocatalytic degradation of dibenzothiophene (DBT) in $TiO_2$ aqueous suspension has been studied. $TiO_2$ photocatalysts are prepared by a sol-gel method. The dominant anatase-structure on $TiO_2$ particles is observed after calcining the $TiO_2$ gel at $500^{\circ}C$ for 1hr. Photocatalysts with various transition metals (Nd, Pd and Pt) loading are tested to evaluate the effect of transition metal impurities on photodegradation. The photodegradation efficiencies with $TiO_2$ including Pt and Pd are higher than pure $TiO_2$ powder. Also we investigated the applicability of $H_2O_2$ to increase the efficiency of the $TiO_2$ photocatalytic degradation of dibenzothiophene. The degradation efficiency increases with increasing dosage of $H_2O_2$ in the range of 0.01M to 0.1M . The effect of pH is investigated; we obtained the maximum photodegradation efficiency at pH 5. In addition, the intermediate analysis found dihydroxyl -dibenzothiophene as a reaction intermediate of dibenzothiophene during the photodegradation.

  • An electronic nose system is an instrument designed far mimicking human olfactory system. It consists generally of gas (odor) sensor array corresponding to olfactory receptors of human nose and artificial neural network pattern recognition technique based on human biological odor sensing mechanism. Considerable attempts to develop the electronic nose system have been made far applications in the fields of floods, drinks, cosmetics, environment monitoring, etc. A portable electronic nose system has been fabricated by using oxide semiconductor gas sensor array and pattern recognition technique such as principal component analysis (PCA) and back propagation artificial neural network The sensor array consists of six thick film gas sensors whose sensing layers are Pd-doped WO$_3$ Pt-doped SnO$_2$ TiO$_2$-Sb$_2$O$_3$-Pd-doped SnO$_2$ TiO$_2$-Sb$_2$O$_{5}$-Pd-doped SnO$_2$+Pd filter layer, A1$_2$O$_3$-doped ZnO and PdCl$_2$-doped SnO$_2$. As an application the system has been used to identify CO/HC car exhausting gases and the identification has been successfully demonstrated.d.

  • 최근 많은 환경오염물질을 제거하기 위한 방법으로 광촉매를 이용한 기술들이 다양하게 활용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 높은 비표면적을 갖는 광촉매를 제조하기 위해, 전기화학적 방법인 양극 산화법을 통하여 기지 Ti 금속 표면에 nanotube 형태의 광촉매용 $TiO_2$를 제조하고, 염료분해 반응을 통해 광촉매의 효율을 조사하였다. 또한 염료분해 효율을 높이기 위해 Ag와 Pd를 도핑하여 염료분해 반응에 미치는 영향에 대해 조사하였다.
