A Study on the Piezoelectric Characteristics of Ca-Substituded $PbTiO_3$ Ceramics (Ca가 치환된 $PbTiO_3$계 세라믹스의 압전 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we investigated structural, electrical characteristics and studied the conditions which improved hydrostatic constants in hydrophones as we changed x = 0.1, 0.25, 0.35, 0.4 and y = 0.04, 0.08, 0.12, 0.16 in $(Pb_{1-x}Ca_x)[(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})_yTi_{1-0.01}Mn_{0.01}]O_3$ ceramics in which Ca was substituted with Pb and $Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3$ was added to decrease sintering temperature in $PbTiO_3$. When Ca was substituted 0.25[mol], the largest electro-mechanical anisotropy ($k_t/k_p$) was found ($k_t{\fallingdotseq}50,k_p{\fallingdotseq}4$), and the less $Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3$ and the stronger poling field, the larger this anisotropy was. When Ca=0.25[mol], $Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3=0.08[mol]$ were substituted, ($k_t/k_p$)(=12, 3) was large, permittivity was low and hydrostatic constants were high. Therefore, this composition is promising as wide band ultrasonic devices in water.

Effect of Agglomeration of $Nb_20_5$ on Formation Reaction, Sintering and Dielectric Properties in$Pb(MG_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3$ (원료분체 $Nb_20_5$의 응집상태가 $Pb(MG_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3$소결, 유전특성에 미치는 영향)

  • Effect of agglomeration of $Nb_20_5$ of the same primary particle size on formation reaction and sintering of $Pb(Mg_{1/3}\;Nb_{2/3})O_3$ was examined. Both solid state reaction and molten salt synthesis were adopted. With decreasing agglomeration of $Nb_20_5$ increased the rate of formation reaction of perovskite PMN in solid state reaction, but had little influence in molten salt synthesis. It was concluded that the increase in the inhomogeneity of the dispersion state of intermediate pyrochlore with increasing agglomeration of $Nb_20_5$ retarded the formation reaction of perovskite PMN in solid state reaction, while had little influnce in molten salt synthesis due to its solution - precipitation mechanism -mainly depends on powder surface area.

  • $0.2(PbMg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3}O_3)-0.8(PbZr_{0.475}Ti_{0.525}O_3)$ 조성을 이용하여 $5{\times}5{\times}5mm^3$의 적층형 세라믹 액츄에이터 소자를 tape casting 방법으로 제작하였다. 전극재로서는 Ag-Pd를 이용하여 총 50층의 layer를 적층하였으며, 적층된 액츄에이터를 $1100^{\circ}C$의 온도에서 소결하였다. X-ray diffractometer를 이용하여 제작된 소자와 열화된 소자의 구조적인 특성을 분석하였다. 제작된 소자의 열화 특성을 알아보기 위하여 60 Hz 의 triangular wave를 인가하여 열화전과 후의 p-E hystcresis loop의 변화를 살펴보았으며, 인가된 전압의 변화에 따라서 소자에서 발생되는 양의 열을 측정하였다. 파괴된 소자의 파단면에 대한 SEM 분석을 통하여 소자의 파괴 메카니즘을 알아보도록 하였다. 이로부터 전기적 기계적 열화가 소자의 동작에 미치는 영향에 대해서 알아 보았다.

  • In this studies, structural, dielectrical piezoelectrical properties and temperature stability of 0.05Pb(Pb($Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3}$)$O_3$+ 0.95Pb($Zr_{0.53}Tio_{0.47}$)$O_3$+$\alpha$[wt%] $Cr_2O_3$ piezoelectric ceramics fabricated by the Hot-Press method were investigated. And Poisson ratios of the specimens were measured in order to see that they can be used as the substrates for energy-trapped devices. The specimens of which Poisson ratio was more than 3/1 had the $\alpha$ range 0.3~0.75, and piezoelectric properties were degraded in the range $\alpha$$\geq$0.75, and temperature stability was good in the $\alpha$ range 0.5~0.75. Accordingly, the optimal point of $Cr_2O_3$ additive weight is sure to be in the vicinity of 0.5[wt%].

Domain Structure and Phase Transformation of (001) Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-x%PbTiO3 Single Crystals ((001) Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-x%PbTiO3 단결정의 도메인 구조 및 상전이)

  • The domain structures, dielectric properties, and phase transformation of (001)-oriented $Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-x%PbTiO_3$ (PMN-x%PT) crystals for x=20, 30, 35, and 40 mole% have been investigated. PMN-20%PT consists of polar nano-domains (PND) which do not self-assemble into macro-domain plates. PMN-30%PT consists of PNDs which begin to self-assemble into colonies along preferred {110} planes. PMN-35PT consists of miniature polar domains on the nm scale. PMN-40%PT consists of {001} oriented lamella domains on the mm scale that have internal nano-scale heterogeneities. The dielectric properties of poled (001) PMN-x%PT single crystals have been measured for orientations both parallel and perpendicular to the [001] poling direction. The results of the temperature dependence of the dielectric constant and mesh scans for the 30%PT sample demonstrate that the initial monoclinic phase changes to single domain tetragonal phase and to cubic phase with increasing temperature.
