  • The tetranuclear complexes, $X_2[M_{O4}O_12{R'C(NH_2)NO}_2](X= n-Bu_4N^+$, $R'=(CH_3)_2CH$, $CH_3CH_2CH_2$, $CH_3SCH_2$; $X=(CH_3)_2CHC(=NH_2)NH_2^+$, $R'=(CH_3)_2CH$; $X = CH_3CH_2CH_2C(=NH_2)NH_2^+$, $R'=CH_3_CH_2CH_2$; $X=CH_3SCH_2C(=NH_2)NH_2^+$, $R'=CH_3SCH_2)$ have been synthesized by the reactions of monomeric and polynuclear complexes with isobutyl-, butyl- and thiomethylacetamidoxime. The prepared complexes were identified by elemental analysis, infrared, $^1H$ NMR and $^{13}C$ NMR spectroscopy. The structure of complex ${(CH_3)_2CHC(NH_2)_2}_2[M_{O4}O_{12}{(CH_3)_2CHC(NH_2)NO}_2]$ was determined by X-ray single crystal diffraction. Crystal data are follows: Monoclinic, $P2_{1/c}$, $a=10.168(3){\AA}$, $b=11.768(1){\AA}$, $c=13.557(1){\AA}$, ${\beta}=102.08(1)^{\circ}$, $V=1586.2(5){\AA}^3$, Z=2, final R=0.026 for 2951($F_0>3s(F_0)$). This complex is composed of a planar cyclic $[Mo_4({\mu}-O)_4]$ and two ${\mu}_4$-amidoximate.

  • In this study, quantitative measurement of nitric oxide concentration distributions visualization were investigated in the laminar $CH_4/O_2N_2$ nixed flame by Planar laser-induced fluorescence(PLIF). The NO A-X (0,0) vibrational band around 226nm was excited using a XeCl excimer-pumped dye laser. Selecting an appropriate NO transition minimizes interference from Rayleigh scattering and $O_2$ fluorescence. The measurements were taken in $CH_4/O_2N_2$ premixed flame with equivalence ratios varying from $1.0{\sim}1.6$, and a fixed flow rate of 3slpm. NO was found to produce primarily between an inner premixed and an outer nonpremixed flame front, and total NO concentration is raised when equivalence ratios increase. These results suggest that prompt NO is likely to contribute to MO formation in $CH_4/O_2N_2$ premixed flame. Furthermore, this trend was well matched with previous works.

  • A comprehensive experimental and numerical study has been conducted to understand the influence of $CH_{3}Cl$ addition on $CH_4/O_2/N_2$ premixed flames under the oxygen enrichment. The laminar flame speeds of $CH_4/CH_{3}Cl/O_2/N_2$ premixed flames at room temperature and atmospheric pressure are experimentally measured using Bunsen nozzle flame technique, varying the amount of $CH_{3}Cl$ in the fuel, the equivalence ratio of the unburned mixture, and the level of the oxygen enrichment. The flame speeds predicted by a detailed chemical kinetic mechanism employed are found to be in excellent agreement with those deduced from experiments. Even though the molar amount of $CH_{3}Cl$ in a methane flame is increased, temperature at the postflame is not significantly varied, but the calculated heat release rate and emission index of NO are largely decreased for the oxygen enhanced flame. The function of $CH_{3}Cl$ as inhibitor on hydrocarbon flames becomes weakened as the level of the oxygen enrichment is increased from 0.21 to 0.5.

  • Stored animal manure is considered as a significant agricultural source of methane $(CH_4)$ and nitrous oxide $(N_2O)$ which have 23 and 297 times higher global warming effect when compared to carbon dioxide $(CO_2)$. Uncertainties caused by lack of understanding physical and biochemical environment in stored animal manure and by errors of emission measurement methods, even though many researches measuring $CH_4\;and\;N_2O$ emissions from stored manure have been conducted for a few decades. In this paper, general information of $CH_4\;and\;N_2O$ generation and emissions from stored animal manure and the measurement methods for quantifying $CH_4\;and\;N_2O$ emissions are discussed.

  • The isolated products from the reactions of $Rh(ClO_4)(CO)(PPh_3)_2$ (1) with CH_2$ = $CHCO_2C_2H_5$ (2) and trans-$CH_3CH$ = $CHCO_2C_2H_5$ (3) contain 80∼ 90% of $[Rh(CH_2 = CHCO_2C_2H_5)(CO)(PPh_3)_2]ClO_4$ (4) and [Rh(trans-$CH_3CH = CHCO_2C_2H_5(CO)(PPh_3)_2]ClO_4$ (5), respectively where 2 and 3 seem to be coordinated through the carbonyl oxygen. It has been found that complex 1 catalyzes the isomerization of $CH_2 = CH(CH_2)_8CO_2C_2H_5$ (6) to $CH_3(CH_2)_nCH = CH(CH_2)_{7-n}CO_2C_2H_5$ (n = 0∼7) under nitrogen at 25$^{\circ}C$. The isomerization of 6 is slower than that of $CH_2 = CH(CH_2)_9CH_3$ to $CH_3(CH_2)_nCH$ = $CH(CH_2)_{8-n}CH_3$ (n = 0∼8), which is understood in terms of the interactions between the carbonyl oxygen of 6 and the catalyst. It has been also observed that complex 1 catalyzes the hydrogenation of 2, 3, 6, trans-$C_6H_5CH = CHCO_2C_2H_5$ (7), $CH_3(CH_2)_7CH = CH(CH_2)_7CO_2C_2H_5$ (8) and $CH_2 = CH(CH_2)_9CH_3$ (9), and the isomerization (double bond migration) of 6 and 9 under hydrogen at 25$^{\circ}C$. The interactions between the carbonyl oxygen of the unsaturated esters and the catalyst affect the hydrogenation in such a way that the hydrogenation of the unsaturated esters becomes slower than that of simple olefins.

  • This study was performed for measuring the emission of greenhouse gases, $CH_4,\;N_2O$, from the composting process for pig slurry. For the experiment the benchscale pilot plant was designed by 1$m^3$ volume reactor with a closed type and operated; sawdust 142kg filled before input slurry, slurry about 10~20l inputed per day (total 380l), air supplied 5l/min for 24 hours, mixing time 10 min./day and 1 time a day. From the total experiment period(30days), the amount of VS degradation and emission $CH_4$, $N_2O$ were 10.9kg-VS and 1,582.4g-$CH_4$, 68.1g-$N_2O$ respectively. Based on VS inputed the emission of $CH_4$, $N_2O$ were 15.3(g-$CH_4$/kg-V $S_{input}$), 0.7(g-$N_2O$ /kg-V $S_{input}$), and based on VS degradated were 145.2(g-$CH_4$/kg-V $S_{removed}$), 6.2(g-$N_2O$ /kg-V $S_{removed}$).

  • The oxo-nitrosyl complexes (n-Bu4N)2[M4O12Mo(NO)2{RC(NH2)NHO}2{RC(NH)NO}2] (M=Mo, W; R=(CH3)2CH, n-CH3CH2CH2) have been prepared by the reactions of monomeric complex containing {Mo(NO)2}2+ and polyoxometalates with isobutyl- and n-butylamidoxime. The prepared complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, infrared, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and UV-visible spectroscopy. These complexes contain two {M2O5}2+ [M=Mo, W] cores and a central {Mo(NO)2}2+ core. The {Mo(NO)2}2+ unit was the formally cis type and C2v symmetry in geometric structure. The two {M2O5}2+ cores and a central {Mo(NO)2}2+ core were not nearly interacted with electronic localization, which were identified by spectroscopy.

  • Nitrous oxide ($N_2O$), known as one of the major greenhouse gases, is an important component of the earth's atmosphere, and gives rise to precursor of acid rain and photochemical smog. For the removal of $N_2O$ and other nitrogen oxides, the SCR reaction system with various reductants is widely used. This study is based on the results of experimental and theoretical examinations on the catalytic decomposition of sole nitrous oxide ($N_2O$) and selective catalytic reduction of $N_2O$ with $CH_4$ in the presence of oxygen using mixed metal oxide catalysts obtained from hydrolatcite-type precursors. When $CH_4$ is fed together with a reductant, it affects positively on the $N_2O$ decomposition activity. At an optimum ratio of $CH_4$ to $O_2$ mole ratio, the $N_2O$ conversion activity is enhanced on the SCR reaction with partial oxidation of methane.

  • The effects of soil percolation rate on $CH_4$ and $N_2O$ emissions were investigated from paddy fields with different drainage systems. Subsurface tile drainage plot of soil percolation rate $11.9mm\;d^{-1}$ and non-subsurface drainage plots of soil percolation rate $7.4mm\;d^{-1}$ and $6.9mm\;d^{-1}$ were designed. The effects of rice straw application were measured at each drainage plots. The subsurface tile drainage plot of soil percolation rate $11.9mm\;d^{-1}$ showed the lower emission amount both of $CH_4$ and $N_2O$ among treatments. In the subsurface tile drainage plot of $11.9mm\;d^{-1}$ percolation rate, 46% of $CH_4$ and 33% of $N_2O$ emission amounts were reduced in comparison of non-subsurface drainage plot of $6.9mm\;d^{-1}$ percolation rate. With rice straw application, the $CH_4$ emission amount was 2.1 times to that from no-applied plot, the $N_2O$ emission amount was not affected by rice straw application.
