The study of nitrogen dilution effect on the flame stability was experimentally investigated in a non-premixed turbulent lifted hydrogen jet with coaxial air. Hydrogen gas was used as a fuel and coaxial air was used to make flame liftoff. Each of hydrogen and air were injected through axisymetric inner and outer nozzles ($d_F=3.65\;mm$ and $d_A=14.1\;mm$). And both fuel jet and coaxial air velocity were fixed as $u_F=200\;m/s$ and $u_A=16\;m/s$, while the mole fraction of nitrogen diluents gas was varied from 0.0 to 0.2 with 0.1 step. For the analysis of flame structure and the flame stabilization mechanism, the simultaneous measurement of PIV/OH PLIF laser diagnostics had been performed. The stabilization point was selected in the most upstream region of the flame base and defined as the point where the turbulent flame propagation velocity was equal to the axial component of local flow velocity. We found that the turbulent flame propagation velocity increased with the decrease of nitrogen mole fraction. We concluded that the turbulent flame propagation velocity was expressed as a function of turbulent intensity and axial strain rate, even though nitrogen diluents mole fraction was changed.

A rupture in a high-pressure pipe causes the fluid in the pipe to be discharged in the atmosphere at a high speed resulting in a supersonic jet that generates the compressible flow. This supersonic jet may display complicated and unsteady behavior in general. In this study, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis was performed to investigate the compressible flow generated by a supersonic jet ejected from a high-pressure pipe. A Shear Stress Transport (SST) turbulence model was selected to analyze the unsteady nature of the flow, which depends upon the various gases as well as the diameter of the pipe. In the CFD analysis, the basic boundary conditions were assumed to be as follows: pipe of diameter 10 cm, jet pressure ratio of 5, and an inlet gas temperature of 300 K. During the analysis, the behavior of the shockwave generated by a supersonic jet was observed and it was found that the blast wave was generated indirectly. The pressure wave characteristics of hydrogen gas, which possesses the smallest molecular mass, showed the shortest distance to the safety zone. There were no significant difference observed for nitrogen gas, air, and oxygen gas, which have similar molecular mass. In addition, an increase in the diameter of the pipe resulted in the ejected impact caused by the increased flow rate to become larger and the zone of jet influence to extend further.
Mycobacterial cell walls comprise thick and diverse lipids and glycolipids that act as a permeability barrier to antibiotics or other chemical agents. The use of OH radicals from a non-thermal plasma jet (NTPJ) for the inactivation of mycobacteria in aqueous solution was adopted as a novel approach. Addition of water vapor in a nitrogen plasma jet generated OH radicals, which converted to hydrogen peroxide ($H_2O_2$) that inactivated non-pathogenic Mycobacterium smegmatis and pathogenic Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv. A stable plasma plume was obtained from a nitrogen plasma jet with 1.91 W of power, killing Escherichia coli and mycobacteria effectively, whereas addition of catalase decreased the effects of the former. Mycobacteria were more resistant than E. coli to NTPJ treatment. Plasma treatment enhanced intracellular ROS production and upregulation of genes related to ROS stress responses (thiolrelated oxidoreductases, such as SseA and DoxX, and ferric uptake regulator furA). Morphological changes of M. smegmatis and M. tuberculosis H37Rv were observed after 5 min treatment with $N_2+H_2O$ plasma, but not of pre-incubated sample with catalase. This finding indicates that the bactericidal efficacy of NTPJ is related to the toxicity of OH and $H_2O_2$ radicals in cells. Therefore, our study suggests that NTPJ treatment may effectively control pulmonary infections caused by M. tuberculosis and nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) such as M. avium or M. abscessus in water.
Classical T Tauri star DG Tau is suggested as the driving source of parsec-scale jet which expands up to 650" (0.4 pc). To investigate the kinematics and physical properties of the jet, we have obtained the optical emission lines of $H{\alpha}$, [O I] ${\lambda}{\lambda}$6300, 6363, [N II] ${\lambda}{\lambda}$6548,6584, and [S II] ${\lambda}{\lambda}$6716, 6731 from HH 158 ad HH 702. The radial velocity of HH 158 is in the range of -50 to $-250km\;s^{-1}$. For HH 702, located at 650" from the source, it shows ~ $-80km\;s^{-1}$. In HH 158, the electron density ($n_e$) close to the star is ${\sim}10^4cm^{-3}$ and it decreases to ${\sim}10^2cm^{-3}$ at 14" away from the star. Electron temperature ($T_e$) is decreasing from >15,000 K to ~5,000 K with distance. Ionization fraction ($x_e$) is increasing from almost zero to > 0.4 along the distance. In HH 702, the values of $n_e$, $T_e$, and $x_e$ are similar to those estimated at 14" from source, where knot C of HH 158 is located. This may imply that the physical properties of the knot could persist through such a long distance in the space, and the gas could be re-excited by the shock during propagation of the jet. On the other hand, we cannot avoid the possibility that HH 702 is driven by another source rather than DG Tau because HH 158 and HH 702 show somewhat large difference in their inclination angles (${\Delta}i=21-35^{\circ}$).

This research is about slurry wear of SM45C and SUS304, which using standard sand and KUM river sand. The results are as follows ; 1. Mass loss rates of both standard sand and KUM river sand were linearly increased as increasement of time and velocity. 2. The average diameter of sand from relatively, less wear rate and portion of larger particles. 3. Wear resistance was linear with time and velocity of liquid jet regardless of type of sand. Also it was able to evaluate with the formula, HV2/E calibrated with n, the velocity index. 4. The wear surface in liquid jet experiment was smooth. The maximum wear depth was observed at the location, 2~4mm apart from the center in the condition of 90$^{\circ}$of collision angle 6mm of nozzle diameter, and 20mm of collision distance. The sectional shape in radial appeared as 'W' shape.

A chemical reactor model (CRM) was developed for a jet stirred reactor (JSR) to predict the emission of exhaust such as NOx. In this study, a two-PSR model was chosen as the chemical reactor model for the JSR. The predictions of NO formation in lean premixed methane-air combustion in the JSR were carried out by using CHEMKIN and GRI 3.0 methane-air combustion mechanism which include the four NO formation mechanisms. The calculated results were compared with Rutar's experimental data for the validation of the model. The effects of important parameters on NO formation and the contributions of the four NO pathways were investigated. In the flame region, the major pathway is the prompt mechanism, and in the post flame region, the major pathway is the Zelodovich mechanism. Under the lean premixed condition, the N2O mechanism is the important pathway in both flame and postflame regions.
We report first results from KVN and VERA Array (KaVA) VLBI observations obtained in the frame of our Plasma-physics of Active Galactic Nuclei (PAGaN) project. We observed eight selected AGN at 22 and 43 GHz in single polarization (LCP) between March 2014 and April 2015. Each source was observed for 6 to 8 hours per observing run to maximize the uv coverage. We obtained a total of 15 deep high-resolution images permitting the identification of individual circular Gaussian jet components and three spectral index maps of BL Lac, 3C 111 and 3C 345 from simultaneous dual-frequency observations. The spectral index maps show trends in agreement with general expectations – flat core and steep jets – while the actual value of the spectral index for jets shows indications for a dependence on AGN type. We analyzed the kinematics of jet components of BL Lac and 3C 111, detecting superluminal proper motions with maximum apparent speeds of about 5c. This constrains the lower limits of the intrinsic component velocities to ~ 0.98c and the upper limits of the angle between jet and line of sight to ~20°. In agreement with global jet expansion, jet components show systematically larger diameters d at larger core distances r, following the global relation d ≈ 0.2r, albeit within substantial scatter.
The elastic moduli or fracture strengths of multi-layered film (SiO$_2$/po1y-Si/SiN/SiO$_2$, 2.77 $\mu\textrm{m}$ thick), CVD diamond film (1.6 $\mu\textrm{m}$ thick), SiO$_2$ film (1.0 $\mu\textrm{m}$ thick) and SiN film (0.43 $\mu\textrm{m}$ thick) made for the membrane of ink-jet printer head were measured with cantilever beam bending method using nanoindenter after fabricating in the form of micro cantilever beam (${\mu}$-CLB). And the elastic moduli of ${\mu}$-CLB of SiO$_2$ film and SiN film were compared with the value of each film on silicon substrate determined with nanoindentation method. The results showed that the modulus and strength of multi-layered film decrease from 68.08 ㎬ and 2.495 ㎬ to 56.53 ㎬ and 1.834 ㎬, respectively as the width of CLB increases from 18.5 $\mu\textrm{m}$ to 58.5 $\mu\textrm{m}$. And the elastic moduli of SiO$_2$ and SiN films measured with ${\mu}$-CLB bending method are 68.16 ㎬ and 215.45 ㎬, respectively and the elastic moduli of these films on silicon substrate measured with nanoindentation method are 98.78 ㎬ and 219.38 ㎬, respectively. These results show that with ${\mu}$-CLB bending technique, moduli can be measured to within 2%.

Sparkjet actuator, also known as plasma synthetic jet actuator, which is a kind of active flow control actuator is considered as being high possibility for the supersonic flow control due to ejecting stronger jet compared to the other active flow control actuators. Sparkjet actuator generates high temperature and high pressure flow inside the cavity by using arc plasma and leads momentum by ejecting such flow through orifice or nozzle. In this research, numerical calculation of sparkjet actuator with respect to the location of electrodes which exists inside the cavity is conducted and the change of the performance of sparkjet actuator is suggested. As the location of electrodes goes closer to the bottom of the cavity, impulse is increased and the average pressure inside the cavity maintains higher. When the location of electrode is 25% and 75% of the entire cavity height, impulse is 2.515 μN·s and 2.057 μN·s, respectively. Each impulse is changed by about 9.92% and -10.09% compared to when the location of electrodes is 50% of the entire cavity height.
A numerical analysis of axisymetric backward facing step main nozzle flow in air jet loom has been accomplished. To obtain basic design data for an optimum main nozzle for an air-jet loom and to predict the transonic/supersonic flow, a characteristic based upwind flux difference splitting compressible Navier-Stokes method has been used. The wall static pressure of the main nozzle and the flow velocity changes in the nozzle tube were analyzed by changing air tank pressures and acceleration tube lengths. The flow inside the nozzle experiences double choking one at the needle tip and the other at the acceleration tube exit at tank pressures over $4kg_f/cm^2$. The tank pressure $P_t$ leading to the critical condition depends on the acceleration tube length; i.e, $P_t$ is higher for longer acceleration tubes. The $P_t$ value required to bring the acceleration tube exit to the critical condition is nearly constant regardless of acceleration tube length. The round needle tip shape might lead to less total pressure loss when compared with step shape.
