Carbon Nanofibers with Controlled Size and Morphology Synthesized with a Ni-MgO Catalyst Treated by Mechnochemical Process

  • Carbon nanofibers (CNF) with uniform diameter and controlled size could be prepared from catalytic decomposition of $C_2H_2$ with the catalyst treated by mechnochemical(MC) process. The distribution and size of Ni catalyst can be governed by tuning grinding time using MC process. As a result, size and structure of CNF can be controlled. The effect of grinding time to the as-grown CNF was checked. CNFs with diameter from 10-70nm can be synthesized. CNFs with bundle formation sharing one tip were found for MC treated catalyst.

매립지가스(LFG)로부터 합성가스 제조를 위한 개질반응 연구 (A Study on Reforming Reaction for Preparation of Synthesis Gas from Land-Fill Gas)

  • LFG (Land-Fill Gas) includes components of $CH_4$, $CO_2$, $O_2$, $N_2$, and water. The preparation of synthesis gas from LFG as a DME (Dimethyl Ether) feedstock was studied by methane reforming of $CO_2$, $O_2$ and steam over NiO-MgO-$CeO_2$/$Al_2O_3$ catalyst. Our experiments were performed to investigate the effects of methane conversion and syngas ratio on the amount of LFG components over NiO-MgO-$CeO_2$/$Al_2O_3$ catalyst. Results were obtained through the activity reaction experiments at the temperature of $900^{\circ}C$ and GHSV of 4,000. The results were as following; it has generally shown that methane conversion rate increased with the increase of oxygen and carbon dioxide amounts. Highly methane conversion of 92~93% and syngas ratio of approximately 1.0 were obtained in the feed of gas composition flow-rate of 243ml/min of $CH_4$, 241ml/min of $CO_2$, 195ml/min of $O_2$, 48ml/min of $N_2$, and 360ml/min of water, respectively, under reactor pressure of 15 bar for 50 hrs of reaction time. Also, it was shown that catalyst deactivation by coke formation was reduced by excessively adding oxygen and steam as an oxidizer of the methane reforming.

Also, it was shown that catalyst deactivation by coke formation was reduced by excessively adding oxygen and steam as an oxidizer of the methane reforming.

  • 황산니켈염 수용액에서 가압수소환원법을 이용하여 알루미나 분말상에 니켈 코팅층을 형성하기 위하여 실험조건(수소분압, 반응온도, $PdCl_{2}$ 첨가량, 알루미나의 종류 및 입도)을 변화시키면서 니켈이온의 환원속도 및 석출상태를 조사하였다. 환원온도 $165^{\circ}C$, 수소분압 300 psi, 코팅촉매제 $PdCl_{2}\;2\;mg/\ell$를 첨가한 조건에서 균질한 니켈코팅층을 얻을 수 있었다.

  • In order to evaluate the distribution and behaviour of atmospheric particulate metals in high-altitude area, we collected 22 aerosol samples using a high volume air sampler at Soback Mt. Meteorological Observation Station from Jan. to Nov. 1993 and analysed for metals (Al, Fe, Mg, Na, Ca, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd, and Pb) with ICP/AES and ICP/MS. Although sampling site is located in high-altitude and far from local sources of atmospheric pollutants, enrichments of metals are 2 times higher than those of western coastal reural area. This fact may imply that of metallic pollutants in the coastal rural site were came from further western side (e.g. China), atmospheric metals in this study area contain the signal of metropolitan cities located in the main wind direction (NNW). Sea salts are negligible in the aerosol particle population because reference elements of sea salts (Na, Mg) are all originated from soil particles. The contents of soil particles in aerosols are highest in spring and lowest in winter. Atmospheric enriched elements (Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd and Pb) are diluted with soil particles, especially during the yellow sand period. The results of factor analysis suggest possibility of interpreting their chemical significance in terms of sources (soil, pollutants) and gas-particle conversion processes (formation of ammonium sulfates, ammonium nitrates and/or their mixtures).

구봉석회석광산의 지질조사보고(地質調査報告) (Geologic Report on the Goobong Limestone Mine)

  • The purpose of this report is to prepare a data for the economic evaluation on the Goobong Limestone Mine which is located at the south-eastern corner of the Yongchun Quadrangle scaled in 1:50,000. The accessibility from the mine to railroad was considered in two ways. One is to Dodam Station on Central Railway Line and the other is to reach Songjung-ni village which is near Sangyong Station on Hamback Railway Line. The distance of the former way is 26.7km and the later is 24.2km. Geologically the mine is situated near the base of the Greast Limestone Series which strikes generally $N25^{\circ}{\sim}30^{\circ}E$. The series comprises six different formations from older to younger; Pungchon Limestone Formation and Whajol Formation of Cambrian age, and Dongjum Quartzite Formation, Dumudong Formation, Maggol Limestone Formation and Goseong Formation of lower to middle Ordovician age. 82 samples; 48 from Pungchon Limestone Formation, 11 from Dumudong Formation, 15 from Maggol Limestone Formation and 8 from Goseong Formation, were taken from the series in the crossed direction to the general trend of the series as shown in geological map. They were chemically analyzed on the components of CaO, MgO, $SiO_2$, $R_2O_3(Al_2O_3+Fe_2O_3)$ and ignition loss as shown in table 2, table 3, table 4, and table 5. As seen from the tables, among the formations of the series, middle to upper parts of the Pungchon Limestone Formation and middle and upper parts of the Dumudong Formation have chemical composition as available source for the raw material of cement industry, not only that but also the part of the Pungchon Formation was highly evaluated as source for the flux of iron smelting and the raw material of carbide manufacturing because of its high purity of calcium carbonate.

합성가스 제조를 위한 CO2/수증기에 의한 메탄 개질반응 연구 (The Study on Methane Reforming by CO2 and Steam for Manufacture of Synthesis Gas)

  • The methane reforming with $CO_2$ and steam for manufacture of synthesis gas over $Ni/ZrO_2$ catalyst was investigated. Mixed reforming carried out $CO_2$ dry reforming with $O_2$ and steam for development of DME process in pilot plant. To improve a catalyst deactivation by coke formation, the mixed reforming added carbon dioxide and steam as a oxidizer of the methane reforming was suggested. The result of experiments over commercial catalyst in $CO_2$ dry reforming has shown that the catalyst activity decrease rapidly after 20 hours. In case of $NiO-MgO/Al_2O_3$ catalyst, the deactivation of 20 percent after 30 hours was occurred. The activity of Ni/C catalyst still was not decreased dramatically after 100 hours. The effect of $H_2$ reforming with steam over $Ni/CO_2$ catalyst obtained the optimal conversion of methane and carbon dioxide, and could be produced synthesis gas at ratio of $H_2/CO$ under 1.5.

제주도 화산회토양에서 Ni, Cu 및 Zn의 자연함유량 특성 (Characteristics of Natural Pedo-geochemical Background for Ni, Cu and Zn in Volcanic Soils of Jeju)

  • 본 연구는 제주지역 토양에서 Ni 함량이 높은 원인을 밝히고 인위적인 함량증가가 우려되는 Cu와 Zn의 함량 특성을 구명하기 위해 수행되었다. 토양시료는 Alfisols 4개통, Andisols 35개통, Endisols 9개통, Inceptisols 16개통, Ultisols 1개통에서 채취하였으며, 동일한 지점에서 모암(자갈) 시료를 채취하였다. 토양색별 Ni, Cu 및 Zn의 함량은 통계적인 유의성은 보이지 않았으나 Ni 평균함량은 $79.2mg\;kg^{-1}$으로 토양색으로 분류한 토양별 평균함량이 토양오염우려기준을 초과하였다. Cu 함량은 $40mg\;kg^{-1}$ 내외, Zn은 $108mg\;kg^{-1}$ 내외로 토양오염우려기준에 비해 낮았으며, 토양색간 함량 차이가 크지 않았다. 토양목별 Ni 함량은 Entisols에서 특이하게 높았으며, 그 외의 토양목에서는 비슷한 함량을 보였다. Cu와 Zn은 토양목과 무관하게 비슷한 경향을 나타내었다. Ni 함량이 많은 암석은 성산층, 신더어콘 및 침상장석 감람석현무암에서 높았으며, 장석현무암 및 조면질 안산암에서 낮았다. Ni은 경작지에 비해 비경작지 함량이 높았으나, Cu와 Zn 함량은 비경작지에 비해 경작지에서 높은 현상이 뚜렷하였다. Ni은 총 시료 중에서 표토/심토 비가 1보다 낮은 토양이 대부분이었으나 Cu와 Zn은 전함량의 표토/심토 비는 1보다 높은 토양이 많아 인위적인 요인에 의해 표토에 Cu가 집적되는 것으로 보인다.

Characteristics of a Novel Acinetobacter sp. and Its Kinetics in Hexavalent Chromium Bioreduction

  • Cr-B2, a Gram-negative hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)] reducing bacteria, was isolated from the aerator water of an activated sludge process in the wastewater treatment facility of a dye and pigment based chemical industry. Cr-B2 exhibited a resistance for 1,100 mg/l Cr(VI) and, similarly, resistance against other heavy metal ions such as $Ni^{2+}$ (800 mg/l), $Cu^{2+}$ (600 mg/l), $Pb^{2+}$ (1,100 mg/l), $Cd^{2+}$ (350 mg/l), $ZN^{2+}$ (700 mg/l), and $Fe^{3+}$ (1,000 mg/l), and against selected antibiotics. Cr-B2 was observed to efficiently reduce 200 mg/l Cr(VI) completely in both nutrient and LB media, and could convert Cr(VI) to Cr(III) aerobically. Cr(VI) reduction kinetics followed allosteric enzyme kinetics. The $K_m$ values were found to be 43.11 mg/l for nutrient media and 38.05 mg/l for LB media. $V_{max}$ values of 13.17 mg/l/h and 12.53 mg/l/h were obtained for nutrient media and LB media, respectively, and the cooperativity coefficients (n) were found to be 8.47 and 3.49, respectively, indicating positive cooperativity in both cases. SEM analysis showed the formation of wrinkles and depressions in the cells when exposed to 800 mg/l Cr(VI) concentration. The organism was seen to exhibit pleomorphic behavior. Cr-B2 was identified on the basis of morphological, biochemical, and partial 16S rRNA gene sequencing chracterizations and found to be Acinetobacter sp.

AI 합금의 원소가 용융산화에 미치는 영향 -lll. 오원계 합금의 산화거동- (The Effects of AI-Alloying Elements on the Melt Oxidation - III. Oxidation Behavior of Pentad Alloy-)

  • 오원계 AI-합금의 용융산화에 의한 $AI_2O_3$ 복합재료의 형성속도와 미세구조에 대하여 연구하였다. AI-1Mg-3Si-3Zn 합금과 AI-1Mg-3Si-5Zn합금에 Cu, Ni 각각을 1% 무게비로 첨가하였다. 각 오원계 합금은 1373K, 1473K에서 최대 20시간 동안 산화시켰으며, 산화속도는 무게증가 측정을 통하여 조사하였다. 산화층의거시적 형상과 미세구조를 광학현미경으로 관찰하였다. AI-1Mg-3Si-5Zn-1Cu 합금이 가장 우수한 산화거동을 보였으나, 산화층이 불균일하였다. 합금위에 $SiO_2$를 도포하였더니 산화속도가 증진되었으며, 균일하고 조직이 친밀한 산화층이 얻어졌다.
