  • The microwave dielectric properties and a sintering behavior of MgTiO$_3$-CaTiO$_3$ ceramics doped with Li were investigated. The main composition was fixed as 0.94MMgTiO$_3$-0.06CaTiO$_3$ and Li$_2$CO$_3$was added excessively in the range of 0~10 mol% (with reference to Li atoms) and the specimens were sintered at 1200~140$0^{\circ}C$ for 4 hours. When the amount of Li was small the quality factor and dielectric constant were reduced, while those tow properties increased if the Li amount was above 1 mol%. But if Li was overly added those dielectric properties decreased again. Li, if added in the composition range of 1.0~3.0 mol%, can increase the quality factor of MgTiO$_3$-CaTiO$_3$ ceramics. The optimum amount of Li was 1.5mol% and sinterign condition was 1275$^{\circ}C$/4hr, at which we cudl obtain following results ; dielectric constant ($\varepsilon$$_{r}$) of f20.0, quality factor(Qxf$_{0}$) of 78,000 GHz and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency($\tau$$_{f}$) of -1.6 ppm/$^{\circ}C$.>.>.>.

  • The microwave dielectric properties and sintering properties of the xCaTi $O_{3}$-yMgTi $O_{3}$-z(L $i_{1}$2/N $d_{1}$2/)Ti $O_{3}$ systems were investigated for the development of microwave dielectric materials. Dielectric constants decreased with increasing the amounts of MgTi $O_{3}$ and increased with reducing the amounts of MgTi $O_{3}$ and increased with reducing (L $i_{1}$2/N $d_{1}$2/)Ti $O_{3}$ contents. The microscopic structures were mixed phase with a little second phase. We found some compositions with .tau.$_{f}$ changed from positive to negative value with increasing MgTi $O_{3}$ or (L $i_{1}$2/N $d_{1}$2/)Ti $O_{3}$ contents. The microscopic strucstures were mixed phase with a little second phase. We found some compositions with .tau.$_{f}$ =0ppm/.deg.C. these compmsitions exhibited the stable dielectric properties on the various sintering temperatures.res.

(1-X) $MgTiO_3-X CaTiO_3$ ceramics with X=7 mol% sintered at $1400^{\circ}C$ exhibited can be dielectric constant of 20.6, the quality factor of 52,500 and the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency of -1.5 [ppm/$^{\circ}C$]. The results of $0.93MgTiO_3-0.070CaTiO_3$ ceramics with $P_2O_5$/ 0.6 wt% sintered at $1250^{\circ}C$ exhibited can be dielectric constant of 21, the quality factor of 58,000 and the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency of 2.6 [ppm/${\circ}C$]. The size, insertion loss, center frequency and band width of GPS antenna were $20.5{\times}20.5{\times}6[mm]$,-10(dB) and 1575.42(MHz) respectively. The insertion loss, center frequency and band width of the fabricated GPS antenna were -11 (dB), 1579(MHz) and 22(MHz) respectively. The center frequency was higher than design result, but other characteristics of GPS antenna were similar to the results of design result.

  • $MgTiO_3{\cdot}CaTiO_3{\cdot}SrTiO_3$ system ceramics (MCST) were synthesized to study the effect of Ca addition amount and Sr substitution on temperature coefficient of resonance sequency. Temperature coefficient of resonance frequency was slightly increased by small amount ($i.e.{\sim}5%$) of Sr substitution. In case of 50% to 75% addition amount of $MgTiO_3$, decrease of quality factor was not observed with increasing dielectric constant.

  • Glass ceramics for dental crown prosthesis were prepared by crystallization of CaO-MgO-SiO2-$P_2O_5-TiO_2$ glasses. Their crystallization behaviors have been investigated as a function of heattreatment temperature, holding time and chemical composition in relation to mechinical properties. Crystallization peak temperatures were determined by differential thermal analysis(DTA). Crystalline phases and mircostructures of heat-treated sample were determined by the means of powder X-ray diffraction(XRD) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). The final crystalline phase assemblages and the microstructures of the samples were found to be dependent on glass compositions, heattreatment temperature, and holding time. 1st crystallization peak temperature(TP), affected strongly by apatite, was found to be increased or decreased. From the experiment, the following results were obtained : 1. The crystallization peak temperature($T_P$) formed by apatite increased until adding up to 9wt% $TiO_2$ to base glass composition, then decreased above that. 2. Apatite($Ca_{10}P_6O_{25}$), whitlockite(${\beta}-3CaO-P_2O_5$), $\beta$-wollastonite($CaSiO_3$), magnesium tianate($MaTiO_3$) and diopside(CaO-MgO-$2SiO_2$) crystal phase were precipitated in MgO-CaO-$SiO_2-TiO_2-P_2O_5$ glass system containing 9wt% and 11wt% of $TiO_2$ 3. Vickers hardness of samples increased with increasing heat-treatment temperature and Vickers hardness of S415T9 samples heat-treated at 1075 was approxi-mately 813Kg $mm^{-2}$ as maximum value. 4. Vickers hardness of samples increased due to precipitation of apatite, whitlockite, $\beta$-wollastonite, magnesium titanate, and diopside crystal phases within glass matrix.
