Li2O-Bi2O3 첨가가 Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)0.65Ti0.35O3 세라믹의 압전 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Li2O-Bi2O3 Addition on the Piezoelectric Properties of Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)0.65Ti0.35O3 Ceramics)

  • Piezoelectric ceramic specimens with the $Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})_{0.65}Ti_{0.35}O_3$ (PMN-PT) composition are prepared by the solid state reaction method known as the "columbite precursor" method. Moreover, the effects of the $Li_2O-Bi_2O_3$ additive on the microstructure, crystal structure, and piezoelectric properties of sintered PMN-PT ceramic samples are investigated. The addition of $Li_2O-Bi_2O_3$ lowers the sintering temperature from $1,200^{\circ}C$ to $950^{\circ}C$. Moreover, with the addition of >5 wt.% additive, the crystal structure changes from tetragonal to rhombohedral. Notably, the sample with 3 wt.% additive exhibits excellent piezoelectric properties ($d_{33}=596pC/N$ and Kp = 57%) and a sintered density of $7.92g/cm^3$ after sintering at $950^{\circ}C$. In addition, the sample exhibits a curie temperature of $138.6^{\circ}C$ at 1 kHz. Finally, the compatibility of the sample with a Cu electrode is examined, because the energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy data indicate the absence of interdiffusion between Cu and the ceramic material.

자동직경제어 Czochralski 성장장치의 제작 (Automatic diameter control system for Czochralski growth)

  • 무게 측정에 의한 자동 직경 제어 방식의 Czochralski 단결정 성장 장칭를 제작하였다. 성장로의 몸체와 hot zone을 자체 설계, 제작하였으며, computer에 의하여 전자저울과 유도가열장치를 자동 제어하므로써 가열 공정에서 부터 냉각 공정까지의 모든 과정을 자동화시킬 수 있는 program을 개발하였다. 제작된 성장장치를 사용하여 $LiNbO_3$ 단결정을 성장시켜 성장 장치의 성능을 평가 하였다.

  • 4% 물의 MgO가 도핑된 광굴절 $LiNbO_3$ 결정에 기록된 광굴절 격자의 회절 효율과 응답시간을 측정하였다. 이 실험에는 고출력 펄스 Nd:YAG 레이저(Q-switch mode,$\lambda$=532nm)와 연속 발진 아르곤 이온 레이저($\lambda$=514.5nm)가 사용되었다. 두 종류의 레이저 광속에 대한 실험에서 광학계의 배열을 동일하게 하고 2광파 혼합 조건에서 레이저 광속의 세기를 1.6~100W/$\textrm{cm}^2$까지 변화시켜가며 최대 회절 효율과 기록 및 소거시의 응답시간을 측정하였다. 두 실험에서 얻은 결과를 비교하고 분석 하였다.

Birefringence measurements of lmol%Mg:LiNbO3 with Noncollinea­rphase­matching cone

  • A noncollinear-phase-matching cone of second harmonic generation(SHG) was observed in a LiNbO3 crystal doped with l mol% MgO. Birefringence refractive indices can be accurately evaluated by analysing the temperature phase matching characteristic for SHG combined with the measurement of the half cone angle. The electro-optic coefficient can also be determined form the observed change of the half cone angle when a DC electric field is applied along the optic axis.

제2고조파 발생특성을 통한 MgO가 2 mole% 첨가된 $LiNbO_3$ 단결정의 poling 조건연구 (Study of poling condition in 2 mole% MgO-doped $LiNbO_3$ using second harmonic generation)

  • MgO가 2 mole% 첨가된 LiNbO$_{3}$ 결정을 3 V/cm, 5 V/cm, 7 V/cm의 전기장에서 poling하여, 5 V/cm의 전기장이 최적의 조건임을 제2고조파발생의 온도의존도특성을 관찰하여 알 수 있었다. 결정에 공간적으로 변조된 전기장을 인가하여 온도 위상 정합 모양이 찌그러짐을 관찰하였으며, 이 결과와 잘 일치하는 계산값을 정량적으로 구할 수 있었다. 이것으로부터 제2고조파의 온도위상정합모양을 이용하여 결정의 균일성을 판단할 수 있음을 증명하였다. 5 V/cm로 poling된 단결정의 온도 위상 정합 모양으로부터 온도에 따른 복굴절의 변화율, c-축으로 전기장을 인가하여 변화된 위상 정합 온도로부터 전기장에 따른 복굴절의 변화율을 계산하였다.

  • KLN(K3Li2Nb5O15) has attracted a great deal of attention for their potential usefulness in piezoelectric, electro-optic, nonlinear optic, and pyroelectirc devices. Especially, the KLN single crystal has been studied in the field of optics and electronics. However it is hard to produce good quality single crystals due to the crack propagation during crystal growing. One of the solutions of this problem is prepartion of thin film. But the intensive study has not been conducted so far. In this study, after the KLN thin film were prepared by R.F. magnetron Sputtering method on SiO2/Si substrate, the post-annealing methods of RTA(rapid thermal annealin) and IPA(insitu post annealing) were employed. The deposition condition of KLN thin film was RF power(100 W), Working pressure(100 mtorr). The commonness of both RAT and IPA was that the higher were deposition and post annealing temperature, the higher was the intensity of XRD but the less surface roughness. The difference of post-annealing methods affected XRD phase and surface condition very much. And in IPA process, the influence of O2 had much effect on the formation of KLN phase.

SHG properties of MgO-doped $LiNbO_3$ single crystals

  • The MgO-doped LiNbO$_3$ single crystals were grown along c-axis by the Czochralski method with the pulling rate of 3mm/h and the rotation of 10rpm. The MgO contents were form 1 to 4 mole%. The SHG properties were investigated with the pulsed Nd:YAG laser, and thermo-optic coefficient, electro-optic coefficient of birefringence and curie temperature were measured. Phase matching temperature and Curie temperature increase similarly with MgO content until 4 mole%.
