$Li_2O-Al_2O_3-Ta_2O_5$ 삼성분계에 있어 $LiTaO_3$ 고용체의 구조 및 특성에 관한 연구 (Structure and Properties of $LiTaO_3$ Type Solid Solutions in $Li_2O-Al_2O_3-Ta_2O_5$ Ternary System)

  • The partial substitution of LiTaO3 with Al2O3 caused the variation of dielectric properties and a lower melting temperature yielding an easier growth of single crystal. The lattice constants and Raman band broadening were measured for the LiTaO3 solid solution in which the cations of Li+ and Ta5+ were partially substituted by Al3+ cation. The LiTaO3 type limit phases were obtained. ; Li1.15Al0.45Ta0.7O3 for cationic excess Li1.15Al0.45Ta0.7O3 for stoichiometry Li0.85Al0.05TaO3 for cationic deficit. The second phase was formed beyond the solubility limit. The limit phase (Li0.85Al0.05TaO3) in the region of cationic deficit showed the lowest Cuire temperature of 61$0^{\circ}C$ and melting point of 152$0^{\circ}C$ compared to the solid solutions in other regions (TMp=1$650^{\circ}C$, Tc=69$0^{\circ}C$ for LiTaO3)

  • Li reacts with $N_2$ at room temperature. In order to activate Li, the mechanical milling of Li with stable metal oxide, namely, $Al_2O_3$ and MgO, using a high energy vibrating ball mill was performed. In the case of Li-MgO system, it reacts with $N_2$, but hardly reacts with $O_2$. The reaction with $N_2$ generally produces $Li_3N$, while for some vigorous reactions the $Mg_3N_2$ is produced as the major phases. In the case of $Li-Al_2O_3$ system, reactivities with both $N_2$ and $O_2$ are high. The difference is explained in terms of the reaction mechanism and the Li state.

  • The monolithic dry gels of the Li2O-Al2O3-TiO2-SiO2 system were prepared by the sol-gel technique using metal alkoxides as starting materials to obtain monolithic glass-ceramics at low temperature without melting. Activation energy for the crystal growth of the gel with 6.05% TiO2, nucleating ageng, for the preparation of Li2O-Al2O3-TiO2-SiO2 system glass-ceramic was 101.14kcal/mol. As a result of the analysis of DTA & XRD, it was confirmed that the crytallization of Li2O-Al2O3-TiO2-SiO2 system glass-ceramic was the most efficient when 6.05% TiO2, nucleating agent, was added. $\beta$-eucryptite solid solution crystals and $\beta$-spodumene solid solution crystals were detected in the sample heat treated above 85$0^{\circ}C$. The sintered gel heat treated at 85$0^{\circ}C$ had the specific surface area of 185$m^2$/g, the pore volume of 0.19cc/g and the average pore radius of 20.8$\AA$. This shows that the sintered gel is also comparatively porous material. In temperature range of 25~85$0^{\circ}C$ thermal expansion coefficient of the specimen which was crystallized for 10hrs at 85$0^{\circ}C$ was 6.7$\times$10-7/$^{\circ}C$, which indicated that the crystallized specimen was turned out to be the glass-ceramic with low thermal expansion.

  • In the system of Li2O-MgO-Al2O3-Cr2O3, the crystalline solid solution of LiCrO2 along the pseudo-binary join between rocksalt structure(LiCrO2) and spinel structure(MgCr2O4 or MgAl2O4) have been investigated by x-ray diffraction techniques. In this study, order-disorder phase transition of LiCrO2 was observed and the unit cell of the disordered LiCrO2 structure has been established. It has been found that LiCrO2 makes a solid solution over a wide range with MgAl2O4, while not with MgCr2O4. This difference was explained as being due to the ability of oxygen lattice distortion which depended on the relative sizes and chemical bonding characteristics of the substituted ions.

  • 강유전체인 $LiTaO_3$ 소재는 SAW filters나 IR sensors의 기본재료로 사용되고 있다. Dopant로서 $Al_2O_3$$LiTaO_3$에 일부 치환함으로써 유전 특성을 변화시키고 특히 용융점을 낮춤으로써 단결정 제조를 용이하게 한다. X-선 회절분석에 의한 격자상수 변화와 Raman spectroscopy의 band broadening을 측정한 결과 $LiTaO_3$에 대한 $Al_2O_3$의 고용한계가 $Li_{1-X}Al_{2X}Ta{1-X}O_3$에서 X=0.25mol이었으며, 고용한계 이상에서는 2차상인 $Al_2O_3$상이 XRD로 관찰되었다. Grain size에 의한 Raman band의 broadening을 고려하기 위하여 단결정과 소결체 $LiTaO_3$를 측정 비교하였다.

  • 사용후핵연료 파이로프로세싱에서는 방사성 희토류 염화물($RECl_3$)을 함유한 LiCl-KCl 공융염폐기물이 발생되며, 핫셀시설에서 운영을 목적으로 단순한 형태의 공융염폐기물 처리공정을 개발하는 것이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는, LiCl-KCl 공융염폐기물 내 희토류 핵종 분리/고화공정의 단순화를 목적으로 $Li_2O-Al_2O_3-SiO_2-B_2O_3$계의 무기합성매질을 이용하여 LiCl-KCl 공융염 내 희토류 핵종(Nd)을 분리한 후 분리생성물을 바로 고화하는 시험을 실시하였다. 공융염 내 희토류 염화물($NdCl_3$) 대비 0.67의 무게비에 해당하는 무기합성매질의 양으로도 Nd 핵종을 98wt% 이상 분리할 수 있었고, 이 때 얻은 희토류 핵종 포집생성물은 약 50wt% 수준의 희토류 산화물 함량을 보유하고 있었으며, 이 포집생성물을 화학적 내구성이 우수한 단일상의 균질한 유리고화체로 제조할 수 있었다. 이 결과들은 LiCl-KCl 공융염폐기물 내 희토류 핵종의 분리/고화공정을 단순화하기 위한 방안수립에 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

  • The photomachinable glass-ceramics of Ag and CeO$_{2}$ added to Li$_{2}$O-Al$_{2}$O$_{3}$-SiO$_{2}$-K$_{2}$O glass system was investigated as a function of UV irradiation time. The temperature of optimum nucleation and crystal growth temperature were confirmed at 525.deg. C, 630.deg. C respectively using DTA and TMA. The phases of Li$_{2}$O.SiO$_{2}$ habit were lath-like and/or dendrite type and [002] direction of Li$_{2}$O.SiO$_{2}$ / Li$_{2}$O.2SiO$_{2}$ phases were changed according to the UV irradiation time by 400 W, 362 nm UV light source. Under that condition, the optimum UV irradiation time was 5 min.

  • The study was aimed at investigating sintering characteristics, the overall properties from the ternary Li2O-Al2O3-SiO2 system. This system, which was considered without additives and selected five compositions, was studied with variation of the amount of SiO2. The reactivity of the system was observed by D.T.A.. Characteristics of sintering, microstructure, property and stability of produced phase were studied. It was found that because the range of sintering was narrow and the temperature of sintering was close to the melting temperature, the sintering by the general method was difficult. Also, these linear thermal expansion coeffecients were measured.

  • The effect of heat-treatment on catalytic crystallization in $LI_2O-Al_2O_3-SiO_2$ glass system over its glass transition temperature was investigated. Glass composition $4Li_2O{cdot}22AL_2O_3{cdot}66SiO_2{cdot}2TiO_2{cdot}2.5ZrO_2{cdot}1.5P_2O_5{cdot}1.0Na_2O{cdot}1.0As_2O_3$ (wt%) was selected and heat-treated at different heating conditions to obtain transparent glass-ceramic. Nucleation and crystallization behaviour of this composition were estimated by differential thermal analysis (DTA) and X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and its thermal expansion coefficients were measured by Dilatometer. As a result, glass transition temperature was $730^{\circ}C$ and two maximum nucleation temperatures were estimated at $730^{\circ}C$ and 82$0^{\circ}C$ using JMA(Johson-Mehl-Avrami) equation by DTA. $ZrTiO_4$ $\beta$-Quartz solid solution and $\beta$-Spodumene crystals were identified by XRD. The optimum crystallization temperature was 92$0^{\circ}C$ and three step heating schedule was expected to be useful to obtain transparent glass-ceramic.
