암세포주에 대한 유근피 n-BuOH 분획과 항암제의 병용효과 (The Combined Effects of n-BuOH Fraction of Ulmi Cortex and Anticancer Drugs on Cancer Cell Lines)

  • The combined effects of Ulmi Cortex and some anti-cancer drugs on the proliferation of HeLa cells, Hep G2 cells and S 180 cells were estimated by MTT calorimetric assay. The n-BuOH fraction(UBF) of Ulmi Cortex inhibited the proliferation of HeLa cell at $10^{-3}\;g/ml$, Hep G2 cell at $10^{-5}\;g/ml$ and S 180 cell at $10^{-3}\;g/ml$. The inhibitory effects of mitomycin C(MMC), cisplatin(CPT) and 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), respectively, on Hep G2 cell was increased by the UBF. The UBF did not influence the proliferation of Balb/c 3T3 cells at concentrations of $10^{-6}$ to $10^{-4}\;g/ml$, but increased the proliferation of T cells at concentrations of $10^{-5}$ to $10^{-4}\;g/ml$. The UBF did not influence the number of leukocyte, and on the thymus weight of mice. The UBF increased the number of total-peritoreal cells of mice. In conclusion, the results suggest that the UBF have anti-cancer activity without the side effect, such as leukopenia and immunosuppresion, and increase the inhibitory activity of the anti-cancer drugs on Hep G2 cells.

Simultaneous Preconcentration and Determination of Trace Elements in Water Samples by Coprecipitation-Flotation with Lanthanum Hydroxide $[La(OH)_3]$

  • The preconcentration and determination of trace Cd(Ⅱ), Cu(Ⅱ), Pb(Ⅱ), Mn(Ⅱ) and Zn(Ⅱ) in water samples were studied by the precipitate flotation using La(OH)3 as a coprecipitant. The analytes were quantitatively coprecipitated by adding 3.0 mL of 0.1 M La(Ⅲ) solution in a 1,000 mL water sample and adjusting the pH to 9.5 with NaOH solution. After the addition of the 1:8 mixed surfactant solution of each 0.1% sodium oleate and sodium lauryl sulfate, the solution was stirred with a magnetic stirrer for 10 minutes. The precipitates were floated to the surface by bubbling with nitrogen gas and collected in a small sampling bottle. The precipitates were dissolved in nitric acid and then the solutions were diluted to 25.00 mL with a deionized water. The analytes were determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. This procedure was applied to the waste water analysis. This technique was simple, convenient and especially rapid for the analysis of a large volume of sample. And also, from the recoveries of better than 92% which were obtained from real samples, this method could be judged to be applicable to the preconcentration and quantitative determination of trace elements in water samples.

  • Influence of $La_2O_3$ addition to $ZnO-B_2O_3$-based glass on the water leaching resistance of the glass was first investigated. The optimized $La_2O_3-ZnO-B_2O_3$ (LZB) glass was ball milled for varying time, followed by mixing with $Al_2O_3$ crystalline phase to form $Al_2O_3$-LZB glass composites at $875^{\circ}C$ for lh. Microwave dielectric properties of the composites were investigated as a function of the ball milling time of the LZB glass. Dielectric constant and quality factor of the composites were 6.01 and 11676 GHz, respectively, when the LZB glass was ball milled for 2h prior to mixing with $Al_2O_3$.

Minimizing the Water Leaching of Zincborate Glass by La2O3 Addition for LTCC Applications

  • A series of $La_2O_3$-added zincborosilicate glasses was fabricated by systematically varying $La_2O_3$ addition up to 15mol% under the constraint of a ZnO:$B_2O_3$ ratio of 1:2. The degree of water leaching after ball milling of the prepared glasses in water medium was relatively quantified by the change in zinc peak intensity in energy dispersive spectroscopy. 8mol% of $La_2O_3$ was the most efficient addition in inhibiting the glass leaching by water. The role of $La_2O_3$ in inhibiting the leaching was explained in terms of change of structural units in the glass network. When the optimum 8mol% $La_2O_3$-added ZnO-$B_2O_3$ glass was used as sintering aid for $Al_2O_3$, the fabricated alumina-glass composite at $875^{\circ}C$ demonstrated dielectric constant of 6.11 and quality factor of 15470 GHz, indicating the potential of leaching-minimized $La_2O_3-ZnO-B_2O_3$ glass for application to low temperature co-firing ceramic technology.

가열방법에 따른 LaCrO$_3$ 연소합성분말의 특성 (Characterization of LaCrO$_3$ Powders Synthesized by Combustion Process with Different Heating Methods)

  • 금속 질산염과 urea를 사용하여 연소합성법에 의해 LaCrO3 분말을 제조하고, 용액의 pH를 HNO3와 NH4OH로 조절한 후, 용매의 가열방법에 따른 연소 생성물인 LaCrO3의 형상을 고찰하였다. 연소생성물의 수율은 용액의 pH에 의해 크게 좌우되었다. 용액의 pH가 0.7~4 사이에서는 90% 이상의 수율이 얻어졌으나, 5 이상 또는 0.5 이하의 pH에서는 수율이 크게 감소하였다. 한편, 연소생성물의 형상은 용액의 pH에 무관하였고 용액의 가열방법에 좌우되었다. 용액을 저항가열법으로 가열하여 연소반응시킨 경우의 분말은 미세한 일차입자들이 2차원적으로 연결된 응집체를 형성하고 있었으나, 마이크로파를 인가하여 가열한 경우에는 용액의 pH에 관계없이 미세한 LaCrO3 분말이 얻어졌다. BET 분석 결과, 마이크로파 가열에 의해 얻어진 입자의 비표면적은 25~32m2/g으로 저항가열법으로 가열한 경우의 10-14m2/g에 비해 더 큰 값을 보였다. 이러한 결과는 마이크로파에 의한 연소반응물의 균일한 가열이 연소생성물의 2차원적인 강항 응집체 형성을 억제할 수 있음을 보여 주었다.

Cathodic Polarization Measurements on La0.9Sr0.1MnO3 Electrode for Solid Oxide Fuel Cells

  • $700-900^{\circ}C$의 온도범위와 여러 산소분압 조건에서 고체전해질 연료전지의 양극인 $La_{0.9}Sr_{0.1}MnO_3$에서 산소의 환원반응특성을 조사하였다. AC 임피던스법과 전류중단법에 의해 산소환원반응의 전하전달저항을 측정하였는데 두 방법으로 구한 간이 서로 잘 일치하였다. 전기화학적 산소환원반응의 활성화에너지는 대기압 조건에서 174kJ/mol의 값을 보였고, 산소분압에 따른 전하전달저항의 측정결과로 부터 이 전극에서 전기화학적 산소환원반응의 율속단계는 전하전달과정임을 알 수 있었다.

Low-temperature Synthesis of Graphene-CdLa2S4 Nanocomposite as Efficient Visible-light-active Photocatalysts

  • We report the facile synthesis of graphene-$CdLa_2S_4$ composite through a facile solvothermal method at low temperature. The as-prepared products were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and by Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis and BET analysis, revealing the uniform covering of the graphene nanosheet with $CdLa_2S_4$ nanocrystals. The as-prepared samples show a higher efficiency for the photocatalytic degradation of typical MB dye compared with P25 and $CdLa_2S_4$ bulk nanoparticles. The enhancement of visible-light-responsive photocatalytic properties by decolorization of Rh.B dye may be attributed to the following causes. Firstly, graphene nanosheet is capable of accepting, transporting and storing electrons, and thus retarding or hindering the recombination of the electrons with the holes remaining on the excited $CdLa_2S_4$ nanoparticles. Secondly, graphene nanosheet can increase the adsorption of pollutants. The final cause is that their extended light absorption range. This work not only offers a simple way to synthesize graphene-based composites via a one-step process at low temperature but also a path to obtain efficient functional materials for environmental purification and other applications.

Monte Carlo Simulation Study of Solvent Effect on Selectivity of 18-Crown-6 to between La3+ and Nd3+ Ion

  • We have investigated the solvent effects on Δlog $K_s$ (the difference of stability constant of binding) and the relative free energies of binding of $La^{3+} and Nd^{3+}$ ions to 18-crown-6 by a Monte Carlo simulation of statistical perturbation theory (SPT) in diverse solvents. We compared relative binding Gibbs free energies and the differences in stability constant (Δlog $K_s$) of binding of $La^{3+} and Nd^{3+}$ ions to 18-crown-6 in $CH_3OH$ in this study with the experimental. There is a good agreement between our study and the experimental. We noted that Borns function of the solvents, the electron pair donor properties of the solvent, the radii of host and guest and the differences in solvation dominate the differences in the stability constant (Δlog $K_s$) as well as the relative free energies of binding of TEX>$La^{3+} to Nd^{3+}$ ions to 18-crown-6. The results of this study appear promising for providing the association properties of crown ethers with alkaline earth metals among polar solvents and the less polar or non-polar solvents.

  • In this study, microstructural and dielectric properties of $Pb_{0.83}(La_{0.2}Ce_{0.8})_{0.08}TiO_3$(PCT) ceramics as a function of $MnO_2$ addition were investigated for 30MHz ceramic resonator application. Grain size was gradually increased according to the increase of $MnO_2$ addition amount and showed the highest value of $1.502{\mu}m$ at the 0.9wt% $MnO_2$. Moreover, density showed the highest value of $7.582 g/cm^3$ at the 0.7wt% $MnO_2$.All the composition ceramics,curie temperature was nearly constant around $330^{\circ}C$

IBAD-MgO 기판 위 다양한 완충층들의 비교 연구 (Comparative study of various buffer layers on IBAD- MgO template)

  • On highly-textured IBAD-MgO templates, we have tried to find proper buffer layers among various candidate materials, including $LaMnO_3$ (LMO), $La_2Zr_2O_7$ (LAO), $LaAlO_3$ (LAO), $LaGaO_3$ (LGO), $NdGaO_3$ (NGO), and $BaZrO_3$ (BZO). All buffer layers were deposited on the IBAD-MgO templates by KrF pulsed laser deposition(PLD). LAO layer showed an armorphous phase. LZO, LGO, and NGO layers showed polycrystalline growth. Only LMO and BZO layers exhibited c-axis oriented biaxially textured films. Optimally processed LMO buffer layer at deposition temperature of $750^{\circ}C$ and $PO_2$ of 100mTorr exhibited ${\triangle}{\phi}$ value of ${\sim}-5.2^{\circ}$ and RMS roughness of 5.6nm. Interestingly, BZO buffer layers with ${\triangle}{\phi}$ values of ${\sim}-6^{\circ}$ could be routinely produced over a wide PLD processing condition.
