Steam Reforming of Hydrothermal Liquefaction Liquid from Macro Algae over Ni-K2TixOy Catalysts (Ni-K2TixOy 촉매를 이용한 해조류 유래 수열 액화 원료의 수증기 개질 반응 연구)

  • Hydrogen production via steam reforming of liquefaction liquid from marine algae over hydrothermal liquefaction was carried out at 873 ~ 1073 K with a commercial catalyst and Ni based $K_2Ti_xO_y$ added catalysts. Liquefaction liquid obtained by hydrothermal liquefaction (503 K, 2 h) was used as a reactant and comparison studies for catalytic activity over different catalysts (FCR-4-02, $Ni/K_2Ti_xO_y-Al_2O_3$, $Ni/K_2Ti_xO_y-SiO_2$, $Ni/K_2Ti_xO_y-ZrO_2/CeO_2$ and Ni/$K_2Ti_xO_y$-MgO), reaction temperature were performed. Experimental results showed Ni/$K_2Ti_xO_y$ based catalysts ($Ni/K_2Ti_xO_y-Al_2O_3$, $Ni/K_2Ti_xO_y-SiO_2$, Ni/$K_2Ti_xO_y-ZrO_2$/ $CeO_2$ and Ni/$K_2Ti_xO_y$-MgO) have a higher activity than commercial catalyst (FCR-4-02) and In particular, a product composition was different depending on support materials. An acidic support ($Al_2O_3$) and a basic support (MgO) led to a higher selectivity for CO while a neutral support ($SiO_2$) and a reducing support ($ZrO_2/CeO_2$) resulted in a higher $CO_2$ selectivity due to water gas shift reaction.

  • Copper oxide (CuO) was synthesized from $CuCl_2$ by solution method. Anatase $TiO_2$ particle was dispersed into the solution before preparing CuO, so that $TiO_2$/CuO heterojunction was created through the nucleation of CuO onto the $TiO_2$ surface. Some amount of CuO was reduced to $Cu_2O$ by treating glucose into the solution, thereby preparing $TiO_2/Cu_xO$ complex. The obtained $TiO_2/Cu_xO$ complex showed advanced phtocatalytic activity under the sun light compared with the P-25 sample. In addition, the the $TiO_2/Cu_xO$ complex showed excellent antipathogenic effect.

  • $TiO_2$ and N-substituted $TiO_{2-x}N_x$ were synthesized by using precipitation method. $TiO_{2-x}N_x$ compound absorbed whole UV light as well as long wavelength of visible light (400 - 700 nm) because of the change of band gap from 3.2 eV to 1.77 eV. Results obtained revealed that $TiO_{2-x}N_x$ showed higher activity than pure $TiO_2$ or P-25 for visible-photocatalytic degradation of 1,4-dichlorobenzene.

Preparation of dielectric Bi4-xLaxTi3O12 (x~2) from K2La2Ti3O10 via exfoliation and restacking routes (박리화와 재적층법을 통한 K2La2Ti3O10부터 유전성 Bi4-xLaxTi3O12(x~2)의 합성)

  • We have successfully synthesized $Bi_{4-x}La_xTi_3O_{12}$ (x~2) having Aurivillius-type layered perovskite structure from exfoliated layered perovskite oxide of $K_2La_2Ti_3O_{10}$ with Ruddlesden-Popper structure. The reaction between the exfoliated lanthanum titanate nanosheets and BiOCl nanocrystal resulted in the formation of polycrystalline $Bi_{4-x}La_xTi_3O_{12}$ (x~2) after heating above $700^{\circ}C$. Colloidal suspension of the nanosheets could be obtained by intercalating ethylamine (EA) into the protonated lanthanum titanate, $H_2La_2Ti_3O_{10}$, derived from $K_2La_2Ti_3O_{10}$. Transmission electron microscopic (TEM) analysis show that the exfoliated lanthanium titanate nanosheets have a thickness of a few nano meters. According to X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, the exfoliated lanthanium titanate was found to be transformed into $Bi_{4-x}La_xTi_3O_{12}$ (x~2) after restacking with BiOCl and subsequent thermal treatment at > $700^{\circ}C$.

The Effect of $WO_3$ Addition on Microwave Dielectric Properties in $BaTiO_3-3{(1-x)TiO_2-xWO_3}$ System ($WO_3$ 첨가량 변화에 따른 $BaTiO_3-3{(1-x)TiO_2-xWO_3}$ 계의 고주파 유전특성)

  • The effect of WO3 addition on microwave dielectric properties of BaTiO3-3{(1-x)TiO2-xWO3} system was studied. Addition of WO3 to this system resulted in the formation of BaWO4 and Ba2Ti9O20 phases. Both the dielectric constant (K) and the temperature coefficientof resonant frequency (Tf) were decreased with the amount of WO3 addition. The value of Q$\times$f0 was increased as the amount of WO3 was increased up to x=0.0275, and then decreased when x exceeded 0.03. At x=0.0275, this ceramic showed excellent microwave proprties of K=34-35, Q$\times$f0=50,000-53,000, and near zero ppm/$^{\circ}C$ of Tf.

  • Nano-technology is a super microscopic technology to deal with structures of 100 nm or smaller. This technology also involves the developing of $TiO_2$ materials or $TiO_2$ devices within that size. The aim of the present paper is to synthesize $WO_x$ doped nano-$TiO_2$ by the Sonochemistry method and to evaluate the effect of different percentages (0.5-5 wt%) of tungsten oxide load on $TiO_2$ in methylene blue (MB) elimination. The samples were characterized using such different techniques as X-ray diffraction (XRD), TEM, SEM, and UV-VIS absorption spectra. The photo-catalytic activity of tungsten oxide doped $TiO_2$ was evaluated through the elimination of methylene blue using UV-irradiation (315-400nm). The best result was found with 5 wt% $WO_x$ doped $TiO_2$. It has been confirmed that $WO_x-TiO_2$ could be excited by visible light (E<3.2 eV) and that the recombination rate of electrons/holes in $WO_x-TiO_2$ declined due to the existence of $WO_x$ doped in $TiO_2$.

Anti-Reflective Coating with Hydrophilic/Abraion-Resistant Properties using TiO2/SiOxCy Double-Layer Thin Film (TiO2/SiOxCy 이중 박막을 이용한 투명 친수성/내마모성 반사방지 코팅)

  • A double-layered anti-reflective coating with hydrophilic/abrasion-resistant properties was studied using anatase titanium dioxide($TiO_2$) and silicon oxycarbide($SiO_xC_y$) thin film. $TiO_2$ and $SiO_xC_y$ thin films were sequentially deposited on a glass substrate by DC sputtering and PECVD, respectively. The optical properties were measured by UV-Vis-NIR spectrophotometer. The abrasion-resistance and the hydrophilicity were observed by a taber abrasion tester and a contact angle analyzer, respectively. The $TiO_2/SiO_xC_y$ double-layer thin film had an average transmittance of 91.3%, which was improved by 10% in the visible light region (400 to 800 nm) than that of the $TiO_2$ single-layer thin film. The contact angle of $TiO_2/SiO_xC_y$ film was $6.9^{\circ}$ right after UV exposure. After 9 days from the exposure, the contact angle was $10.2^{\circ}$, which was $33^{\circ}$ lower than that of the $TiO_2$ single-layer film. By the abrasion test, $SiO_xC_y$ film showed a superior abrasion-resistance to the $TiO_2$ film. Consequently, the $TiO_2/SiO_xC_y$ double-layer film has achieved superior anti-reflection, hydrophilicity, and abrasion resistance over the $TiO_2$ or $SiO_xC_y$ single-layer film.

Study on the Sinterability and Pellet Properties of Dy2O3-TiO2 Oxides (Dy2O3-TiO2 산화물의 소결성 및 소결체 특성에 관한 연구)

  • pellets were fabricated as a reactor control material by the powder process. Sinterability of $Dy_2O_3+TiO_2$ mixtures and phases of solid solutions were analyzed by using TMA and XRD, respectively. The thermal conductivity of pellet was determined from the measurement data of the specific heat and the thermal diffusivity of the pellet. The sinterability and the sintered density varied as a function of Dy content in $Dy_xTi_yO_z$. The pellet of $3\;g\;Dy/cm^3\;Dy_xTi_yO_z$ melted in the sintering temperature of $1580{\circ}C$. There were two phases of $Dy_2TiO_5+Dy_2Ti_2O_7$ and a single phase of $Dy_2TiO_5$ for the pellet that has the Dy content of and , respectively. The thermal conductivity of $Dy_xTi_yO_z$ was nearly constant in the temperature range of $25~600{\circ}$. It was 1.69~1.78 W/mK for the pellet sintered in and 1.49~1.55 W/mK for the pellet sintered in $1550{\circ}$.

Preparation and Characterization of $Ag/TiO_{2-x}N_x$ Nanoparticles

  • The $Ag/TiO_{2-x}N_x$ nanoparticles were synthesized by photochemical deposition in a $TiO_{2-X}N_X$ suspension system. The prepared products were characterized by means of XRD, Uv-vis and photoluminescence spectra (PL). Its photocatalytic activity was investigated by the decomposition of methylene blue (MB) solution under illumination of visible and ultraviolet light, respectively. Compared to $TiO_{2-x}N_x$, the photocatalytic activity of the as-prepared $Ag/TiO_{2-x}N_x$ is obviously enhanced due to the decreasing recombination of a photoexcitated electron-hole pairs. The Mechanism in which photocatalytic activity is enhanced has been discussed in detail.

Microwave Dielectric Properties in Bi-Substituted BaO.$Nd_{2}O_{3}$.$4TiO_{2}$ (Bi 가 치환된 BaO.$Nd_{2}O_{3}$.$4TiO_{2}$ 세라믹스의 마이트로파 유전특성)

  • The effect of Bi-substitution in $BaO.(Nd_{1-x}Bi_x)_2O_3.4TiO_2$ ceramic was studied on the formation of crystal phases, microstructure, and microwave dielectric properties. $BaO.(Nd_{1-x}Bi_x)_2O_3.4TiO_2$, solid solution (0$\leq$x$\leq$0.2) were formed by Bi-substitution into the Nd site of $BaO.(Nd_{1-x}Bi_x)_2O_3.4TiO_2$ ceramics. Average grain size increased with Bi-substitution. Dielectric constant(${\varepsilon}_r$) increased from 84 to U8, and the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency(${\tau}_f$) decreased from 44 ppm/$^{\circ}C$ to -30 ppm/$^{\circ}C$ when Bi contents increased up to x=0.2 in $BaO.(Nd_{1-x}Bi_x)_2O_3.4TiO_2$ solid solutions. $BaO.(Nd_{1-x}Bi_x)_2O_3.4TiO_2$ solid solutions with x=0.04~0.08 showed the most superior microwave dielectric properties, those are ${\varepsilon}_r$= 89-92, Q . f = 5855~6091 GHz, and (${\tau}_f$)= -7.5-7.5 ppm/$^{\circ}C$.
