A theoretical and experimental study was carried out to predict the drop size distribution of the pressure swirl atomizer. Various analytical methods using the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability theory were tried to examine the wave growth on cylindrical liquid sheets. Cylinderical liquid sheets were extended to the case with the conical sheets. Perturbations due to tangential motion as well as longitudinal one were taken into account. And it was assumed that the breakup occurs when amplitude ratio exceeds exp(12), drop sizes were predicted only by theoretical approach. Drop size distribution was obtained by using maximum entropy formalism. Seven constraints in the form of the definition of mean diameter were used in this formulation in order to avoid the difficulties of estimating source terms. In this study $D_{10}$ only was introduced into the formulation as a constraint. The predicted drop size and drop size distribution agreed well with the measured data.

A model reference adaptive control(MRAC) theory is very useful for controlling a plant of which the parameters are unknown or vary during operation usint only input-output signal of plant. In this study, 2' nd order discreter time MRAC controller is designed for an electrohydraulic position control system which is represented with nonlinear mathematical model and the least square method is adopted for the para-meter adjustment law. This control algorthm is applied to the position control of electrohydraulic servosystem through computer simulation and the effect of the change of load, sampling time upon the performance following reference model and upon the performance of estimating plant parameters are examined.
The authors' theory developed in the preceding Paper 1 was applied to plastic deformation of ceramics, metals, alloys and single crystals. For polycrystalline substances, the flow mechanisms due to dislocation movement and grain boundary movement appear together or separately according to the experimental conditions whereas for single crystals, only the mechanism of dislocation movement appears. The parameters appearing in the flow equations $({\alpha}_{d1},\;1/{\beta}_{d1})and\;({\alpha}_{gj}/X_{gj},\;1/{\beta}_{gj})$ (j = 1 or 2), and the activation enthalpies ${\Delta}H_{k1}^{\neq}$ (k = d or g) were determined and tabulated. Here, the subscript d1 indicates the first kind of dislocation flow units and gj expresses the jth kind of grain boundary flow units. The predictions of the theory were compared with experiment with good agreement. Concerning the activation enthalpies, it was found that ${\Delta}H_{d1}^{\neq}$ 〉{\Delta}H_{g1}^{\neq}$ and that the former agrees with the activation enthalpy for bulk self-diffusion whereas the latter agrees with the activation enthalpy for grain boundary self-diffusion. These facts support the adequacy of the authors' theory which is considered as a generalized theory of plastic deformation.

Magnetic properties of MgB2 superconducting powder were investigated. M(H), the magnetic field H dependence of magnetization M, was measured and analyzed using a PPMS instrument. The MgB2 superconducting powder showed high critical current density Jc > ~ 107 A/cm2 and clean limit superconducting properties. The equilibrium magnetization Meq properties of MgB2 powders exhibiting various superconducting properties were studied. We find that the equilibrium magnetization Meq(H) properties of MgB2 powders showing conventional BCS properties deviate from the predictions of the standard local-London theory at temperatures below T = 19 K and are in good agreement with the generalized nonlocal-London theory. Nonlocal-London analysis was used to determine and analyze the nonlocal parameters. The temperature dependence of the London penetration depth values λ(T) was studied.
Finite element models and numerical results are presented for bending and natural vibration using the unified third-order plate theory developed in Part 1 of this paper. The unified third-order theory contains the classical, first-order, and other third-order plate theories as special cases. Analytical solutions are developed using the Navier and L$\acute{e}$vy solution procedures (see Part 1 of the paper). Displacement finite element models of the unified third-order theory are developed herein. The finite element models are based on $C^0$ interpolation of the inplane displacements and rotation functions and $C^1$ interpolation of the transverse deflection. Numerical results of bending and natural vibration are presented to evaluate the accuracy of various plate theories.
In near-ring theory several different types of primitivity exist. These all imply several different types of primeness. In case of near-rings with DCCN most of the types of primeness are known to imply primitivity of a certain kind. We are able to show that also so called 1-prime near-rings imply 1-primitivity. This enables us to classify maximal ideals in near-rings with chain condition with the concept of 1-primeness which leads to further results in the structure theory of near-rings.
This paper gives sufficient conditions to ensure the existence and stability of solutions for generalized nonlinear fractional integrodifferential equations of order α (1 < α < 2). The main theorem asserts the stability results in a weighted Banach space, employing the Krasnoselskii's fixed point technique and the existence of at least one mild solution satisfying the asymptotic stability condition. Two examples are provided to illustrate the theory.
We have calculated 2448 interstellar cloud models to investigate the formation and destruction of high rotational level $H_2$ according to the combinations of five physical conditions: the input UV intensity, the $H_2$ column density, cloud temperature, total density, and the $H_2$ formation rate efficiency. The models include the populations of all the accessible states of $H_2$ with the rotational quantum number J < 16 as a function of depth through the model clouds, and assume that the abundance of $H_2$ is in a steady state governed primarily by the rate of formation on the grain surfaces and the rates of destruction by spontaneous fluorescent dissociation following absorption in the Lyman and Werner band systems. The high rotational levels J = 4 and J = 5 are both populated by direct formation into these levels of newly created molecules, and by pumping from J = 0 and J = 1, respectively The model results show that the high rotational level ratio N(4)/N(0) is proportional to the incident UV intensity, and is inversely proportional to the $H_2$ molecular fraction, as predicted in theory.

Peltier cells have low efficiency, but they are becoming attractive alternatives for affordable and environmentally clean cooling. In this line, the current article develops closed-form and semianalytical solutions to improve the temperature distribution of Bi2Te3 thermoelements. From the distribution, the main objective of the current work-the optimal electric intensity to maximize cooling-is inferred. The general one-dimensional differential coupled equation is integrated for linear and quadratic geometry of thermoelements, under temperature constant properties. For a general shape, a piece-wise solution based on heat flux continuity among virtual layers gives accurate analytical solutions. For variable properties, another piece-wise solution is developed but solved iteratively. Taking advantage of the formulae, the optimal intensity is directly derived with a minimal computational cost; its value will be of utility for more advanced designs. Finally, a parametric study including straight, two linear, barrel, hourglass and vase geometries is presented, drawing conclusions on how the shape of the thermoelement affects the coupled phenomena. A specially developed coupled and non-linear finite element research code is run taking into account all the materials of the cell and using symmetries and repetitions. These accurate results are used to validate the analytical ones.
The next generation of diesel engine can operate at high injection pressure up to 1,800bar. The common rail pipe must have higher internal strength because it is directly influenced by the high-pressure fuel. Folding defects in the Common rail pipe can not ensure the structural safety. Therefore, Preform design and fatigue-life analysis are very important for preventing the head of the common rail pipe from folding in the heading process and for predicting fatigue life according to the amount of folding. In this study, a closed form equation to predict fatigue life was suggested by Goodman theory and pressure vessels theory in ASME Code in order to develop an optimization technique of the heading process and verified its reliability through fatigue-structural coupled field analysis. The results calculated by the theory were in good agreement with those obtained by the finite element analysis.
