Statistical Observation on Surgical Stomach Disturbance Patient (외과적 위질환환자의 통계적고찰)

  • 1972년 1월부터 1972년 12월말까지 충남대학교 의과대학 부속병원에서 위 수술을 받은 환자 66명을 대상으로 여러 가지 통계 결과 1. 성별 분포에선 남자가 51명 여자가 15명으로 약 3.4:1의 비율을 나타냈다. 2. 연령별 분포에선 $69.7\%$가 40세 이상에서 나타났다. 3. Chief complain은 Indigestion이었다. 4. 증상의 평균 연한은 1년 전후의 Chronic symptom을 경험했다. 5. Vital sign의 변화는 대부분이 별로 나타나지 않았다. 6. 수술 전 수혈은 1000cc 이내로 환자의 $78\%$에 필요했었다. 7. 수술 전의 Hb은 정상보다 낮은 율은 $45.4\%$였고 정상은 $54.6\%$였다. 8. 수술 전의 W.B.C는 정상보다 낮은 율은 $10.6\%$, 정상이 $42.4\%$, 정상보다 높은 율이 $47\%$였다. 9. 수술 전의 Ht치는 정상보다 낮은 율은 $60.6\%$, 정상은 $36.4\%$ 정상보다 높은 율은 $3\%$였다. 10. 수술 전 위액검사 결과는 Cancer인 경우는 Free acid와 Total acid가 모두 거의 정상보다 낮았고 Ulcer인 경우 대부분 높았다. 11. Liver function test에서는 표에서 나타난 대로 많은 변화는 없었다. 12. 병소 부위는 Cancer의 경우 $51.8\%$에서 Pylorus부위에 왔었고 Ulcer의 경우 $62.4\%$에서 Lesser curvature (ciratricial region포함)에 왔었다. 13. 수술방법은 $77.7\%$가 Subtotal gastrectomy였었다. 14. 위 수술을 위한 입원 일자는 $60\%$ 이상에서 $11\~15$일간의 평균을 보였었다.

Topoisomerase I and II Inhibitory Activities and Cytotoxic Constituents from the Barks of Tilia amurnesis

  • Eight compounds, squalene (1), friedelin (2), ${\beta}$-sitosterol (3), ${\beta}$-sitosterol-3-O-glucoside (4), ${\alpha}$-tocopherol (5), betulinic acid (6), trilinolein (7) and 1-O-(9Z,12Z-Octadecadienoyl)-3-nonadecanoyl glycerol (8), were isolated from the barks of Tilia amurensis. Their chemical structures were identified by comparing their physicochemical and spectral data with those published in the literature. These isolated compounds were examined for their inhibitory activities against topoisomerase I and II. Compound 7 showed significant inhibition of DNA topoisomerase I and II activities, with percent decreases in activity of 87 and 95%, respectively at a concentration of $100\;{\mu}M$. Compound 6 exhibited cytotoxicity against the human colon adenocarcinoma cell line (HT-29), the human breast adenocarcinoma cell line (MCF-7) and the human liver hepatoblastoma cell line (HepG-2), with $IC_{50}$ values of 20, 59 and $16\;{\mu}M$, respectively.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to review the acupuncture therapy and moxibustion on itching Method : We searched and reviewed chinese journals of and books of the acupuncture therapy and moxibustion on itching. Results & Conclusions : 1. Dermatopathy of itching is described as eczema, neurotic-dermititis, itching in orient medical text. 2. According to text, itching causes were wind symptom produced by deficiency of blood, deficiency syndrom of the spleen, and damp-heat. 3. Frequently used acupoints were LI10(41 frequency), SP10(29), ST36(27), SP6(22), GB20(19), Asi point(18), BL(17), back Su acupoints(13), LI4(13), SP9(10), PC6(7), HT7(7). etc 4. The practice of acupuncture was used by body acupuncture, auriculo-theraphy, loss of bleeding with needle, blum-blosson needle, dermal needle, fire needle. etc. 5. Moxibustions are mild moxibustion, non-scar producing moxibustion, herb- moxibustion. etc.

Solution processed inverted organic solar cells with hybrid inorganic/organic cathode interlayers

  • In this work, we introduce a solution-processed CdS interlayer for use in inverted bulk heterojunction (BHJ) solar cells, and compare this material to a series of standard organic and inorganic cathode interlayers. Different combinations of solution-processed CdS, ZnO and conjugated polyelectrolyte (CPE) layers were compared as cathode interlayers on ITO substrates to construct inverted solar cells based on $PTB7:PC_{71}BM$ and a $P3HT:PC_{61}BM$ as photoactive layers. Introduction of a CdS interlayer significantly improved the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of inverted $PTB7:PC_{71}BM$ devices from 2.0% to 4.9%, however, this efficiency was still fairly low compared to benchmark ZnO or CPE interlayers due to a low open circuit voltage ($V_{OC}$), stemming from the deep conduction band energy of CdS. The $V_{OC}$ was greatly improved by introducing an interfacial dipole (CPE) layer on top of the CdS layer, yielding outstanding diode characteristics and a PCE of 6.8%. The best performing interlayer, however, was a single CPE layer alone, which yielded a $V_{OC}$ of 0.727 V, a FF of 63.2%, and a PCE of 7.89%. Using $P3HT:PC_{61}BM$ as an active layer, similar trends were observed. Solar cells without the cathode interlayer yielded a PCE of 0.46% with a poor $V_{OC}$ of 0.197 V and FF of 34.3%. In contrast, the use of hybrid ZnO/CPE layer as the cathode interlayer considerably improved the $V_{OC}$ of 0.599 V and FF of 53.3%, resulting the PCE of 2.99%. Our results indicate that the CdS layer yields excellent diode characteristics, however, performs slightly worse than benchmark ZnO and CPE layers in solar cell devices due to parasitic absorption below 550 nm. These results suggest that the hybrid inorganic/organic interlayer materials are promising candidates as cathode interlayers for high efficiency inverted solar cells through the modification of interface contacts.

NADPH oxidase inhibitor diphenyleneiodonium induces p53 expression and cell cycle arrest in several cancer cell lines (NADPH oxidase 저해제인 diphenyleneiodonium의 p53 발현 및 암세포의 성장억제에 대한 연구)

  • The Diphenyleneiodonium (DPI) is widely used as an inhibitor of flavoenzymes, particularly NADPH oxidase. In this study, we investigated the effect of DPI on the cell growth progression of human colon cancer cells HCT-116 (wild-type p53), HT-29 (p53 mutant) and human breast cancer cells MCF-7 (wild-type p53). DPI treatment in cancer cells evoked a dose- and time-dependent growth inhibition, and also induced the cell cycle arrest in C2/M phase. The peak of cell population arrested in C2/M phase was observed at12 hr after treatment of DPI. In addition, DPI significantly induced the expression of p53, which induces proapoptotic genes in response to DNA damage or irreparable cell cycle arrest, at 6 hr in DPI-stimulated cells. However, a catechol apocynin, which inhibits the assembly of NADPH oxidase, did not induce p53 expression. This suggest that p53 expression induced by DPI is not associated with the inhibition of NADPH oxidase. In conclusion, we suggest that DPI induces the expression of wild-type p53 by ROS-in-dependent mechanism in several cancer cells, and upregulated p53 may be involved in regulatory mechanisms for growth inhibition and cell cycle arrest at C2/M phase in DPI-stimulated cells.

Effects of CDP-Choline, Aminoguanidine and Difluoromethylornithine on the ECS-induced Impairment of Active Conditioned Response Retention (백서의 조건회피반응-유지에 대한 경련성 전기충격의 저해작용에 미치는 CDP-Choline, Aminoguanidine, 및 Difluoromethylornithine의 영향에 관한 연구 : 뇌내 Acetylcholine과 Polyamine 함량-변동에 연관하여)

  • The training of male wistar rats for active conditioned response (ACR) was performed by one daily training session of 30 consecutive trials for 10 successive days using a two-way shuttle box, and the rats that showed 10 or more ACRs on the last day were treated for further 10 days with electroconvulsive shock (ECS : 50 mA, 0.5 msec; 100 Hz; 1.5 sec) and the following compounds. On the 20th day, all the rats were tested for the ACR rention. The ECS regimens were one ECS per day for 10 days with one day interval $(5{\times}ECS)$, one ECS at 3 hrs (ECS-3h), and one ECS at 24 hrs (ECS-24h), respectively, before the ACR retention test. And CDP-choline (cc: 250 mg/kg), spermine (SM: 10 mg/kg), ${\alpha}-difluoromethylornithine$ (DO: 250 mg/kg), or aminoguanidine (AG: 100 mg/kg) was administered by one daily i.p. injection for 10 days. The ACR number $(13.7{\pm}1.0)$ obtained on the last training day was increased by 37.23% on the 20th day in the control rats. And the ACR increase was significantly suppressed by 5-ECS, ECS-3h, CC, or SM but was little affected by ECS-24h, DO, or AG. However, the 5-ECS induced impairment of ACR retention was significantly suppressed by AG, SM, and CC in the order of potency but was little affected by DFMO. And the ECS-3h induced impairment was moderately worsened by SM or AG. The acetylcholine (ACh) of the rat hypothalamus (HT), hippocampus (HC), and entorhinal cortex (EC) was markedly increased by CC and moderately increased by SM, but little affected by ECS-3h, ECS-24h, DO, or AG. But $5{\times}ECS$ slightly increased the ACh content. The brain putrescine (Pt) content was significantly increased by AG and little affected by CC, SM, or DO. But the $5{\times}ECS$ markedy decreased the brain Pt content, and the decrease was significantly suppressed by CC, SM, or AG. CC induced the marked increases of the spermidine (Sd) and spermine (Sm) contents of all the areas. SM increased the Sd contents of all the areas and the EC-Sm content. DO decreased the brain Sd and Sm contents. And AG increased the HT-Sd content and the Sm contents of all the brain areas. The $5{\times}ECS$ induced decrease of the HC-Sm content was suppressed by CC, SM and AG. These results suggest that the improving effect of aminoguanidine on the $5{\times}ECS$ induced impairment of ACR retention may be ascribed in part to its activity as a diamine oxidase inhibitor.

Anticarcinogenic Effects of Extracts from Gloiopeltis tenax (참가사리 분획물의 암 예방효과)

  • In this study, we investigated anticarcinogenic effects of extracts from Gloiopeltis tenax (GT). GT was extracted with methanol (GTM), which was then further fractionated into four fractions by using solvent fractionation method, affording methanol (GTMM), hexane (GTMH), butanol (GTMB) and aqueous (GTMA) soluble fractions. We determined the cytotoxic effects of these fractions on cancer cells by MTT assay. Among various fractions of GT, the GTMM showed the strongest cytotoxic effect at concentration of $150{\mu}g/mL$, displaying 95.97% on HepG2 cell lines and 93.64% on HT-29 cell lines, respectively. And, the anti-proliferative effect of GT was accompanied by a marked in increase of levels of Bad, Bax, Bok and Bak protein and activation of caspase-3, caspase-7 and PARP protein. Also, we observed quinone reductase (QR) induced effects in all fraction layers of GT on HepG2 cells. The QR induced effects of the GTMM and GTMB on HepG2 cells at concentration of $60{\mu}g/mL$ showing inductive indexes of 2.86 and 2.04 compared to the control value of 1.0.

Hematological Characterietic of Bastard halibut according to Cultured experiment of Mari-floating netcage- I On the Hematological conditions (넙치의 해상(海上)가두리 사육시험(飼育試驗)에 따른 혈액학적(血液學的) 연구(硏究)-I 혈액성상(血液性狀)에 대(對)하여)

  • Hematological conditions were measured to the cultured bastard halibut classified by control group and establishments of mari-floating netcages from April 7, 1990 to May 24, 1990. The RBC, Hb, HT, MCHC, MCH and MCV values were $289{\pm}61{\times}10/^4/mm^3$, $4.8{\pm}0.9g/dl$, $22{\pm}6%$, $22.7{\pm}4.0%$, $16.9{\pm}3.3pg$ and $77{\pm}19{\mu}m^3$ respectively in the hematological conditions of control group. Relation between Hb and Ht was represented highly positive(r=0.805, p<0.01>, and relation between MCV and MCH was represented positive (r=0.696, p<.0.05) in the control group. In the variation of hematological conditions classified by experimental group, RBC of PVC group was returned $293{\pm}57{\times}10/mm^3$ on the 21th after locomotion to mari-floating netcages. RBC of netron group was also returned as control level on the 21th after locomotion, showed stabilization. Hb of PVC and netron group was low in the range of variation, was represented $3.9{\pm}9.6g/dl$ on the 45th after locomotion. The group that was also satabilizied variation of Ht were PVC, netron group. According to the results of hematological conditions classified by establishment of mari-floating netcages, the experiment group that were stabilized variation were in order of PVC, netron and pole-PVC group. But the other groups were extended the range of variation.

Methods : Literature review on Communication Disorder with Post-Stroke in view of oriental and western medicine. Conclusions : Communication Disorder with Post-Stroke is relative with aphasia in western medicine, Sul-um(舌瘖) oriental medicine Aphasia, apraxia of speech, and dysarthria come after strock Each of them has its own mechanism. Yomchon(CV23), Amun(GV15), Chuldol(CV22), Tongni(HT5), Pungnyung(ST40), Pungbu(GV16), Chigu(TE6), Yongchon(KI1), Hapkok(L14), Peakoe(GV20), Kokchi(LI11), Puryu(KI7), Shinsu(BL23), Kumjin-okaek, and Chohea(KI6) was used on Communication Disorder with Post-Stroke treatment.

Isolation and Biological Activities of an Alkaloid Compound (3-methylcanthin-5, 6-dione) from Picrasma quassiodes (D. Don) Benn.

  • An alkaloid, 3-methylcanthin-5, 6-dione, was isolated from the stem of Picrasma quassioides (D. Don) Benn. and characterized by comprehensive analyses of its 1D and 2D NMR spectra. It was also evaluated for its cytotoxic activity in vitro against three human cancer cell lines (MDA-MB-231, HT-29 and NCI-N87), using MTT assays. We found that 3-methylcanthin-5, 6-dione exhibited significant anti-inflammatory activity via inhibiting NO production induced in LPS-stimulated murine macrophage RAW264.7 cells. The antioxidant activity of 3-methylcanthin-5, 6-dione was measured by DPPH free radical scavenging assays, hydroxyl radical scavenging assays and reducing power assays. Our results showed that 3-methylcanthin-5, 6-dione has significant biological activities.
