3-PM liquid scintillation counting using the geometry-efficiency variation technique has been applied to the activity measurement of $^{204}T1$, which decays to $^{204}Hg\;and\;^{204}Pb\;by\;{\beta}^-$ and E.C., respectively. The TDCR values K have been derived over a wide range, 0.78 < K < 0.97, by displacing the detectors up to 50 mm away from an unquenched liquid scintillation sample $^{204}Tl$. The derived plots of the logic sums of double coincidences $N_D(K)$ very K vary linearly in the observed regions. The fractions of losses due to electron capture decay have been taken into account by employing a PENELOPE Monte Carlo simulation. The calibrated activity is 102.3 kBq at a reference date of July 1st, 2002 (UT) with a combined uncertainty of $0.63\%$. This is consistent with the value determined by means of the CIEMAT/NIST method at KRISS.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the possibility of application of some French and German movies to teaching of multi-culture in elementary, middle and high schools. Three different films are selected. (2005), a French animation film directed by B?n?dicte Galup and Michel Ocelot, is appropriate for the education of understanding cultural relativity and improving multi-cultural sensitivity in elementary school. is a French short film directed by Walter Salles and Daniela Thomaso and included in omnibus style film (2006). This short film relating a story of an immigrated woman who leaves her baby in a cr?che and travels through Paris to work for a bourgeois mother can be used for developing a bond of sympathy between natives and immigrants. It is recommended for the class of junior high school. Finally (2007), a German film directed by Fatih Akin, provide a learning model for the education of multi-culture in high school classrooms. The cinematographic aesthetic of this film is focused on a process of reconciliation with others over the cultural, racial, national and generational differences. Analyzing the structure of the film and being guided by teachers the students can understand better in improving abilities to understand others.

This paper investigates a speed sensorless control of induction motor. The control strategy is based on MRAS (Model Reference Adaptive System) using load-torque observer as a reference model for flux estimation. The speed response of conventional MRAS controller characteristics is affected by variations of load torque disturbance. In the proposed system, the speed control characteristics using a load-torque observer control isn't affected by a load torque disturbance. Simulation results are presented to prove the effectiveness of the adaptive sliding mode controller for the drive variable load of induction motor.

In this study, we demonstrated the whitening effect of Lagenaria leucantha through the melanin biosynthesis of S bikiniensis and inhibition of melanogenesis in cultured Bl6 melanocytes. And we confirmed the whitening effect of Lagenaria leucantha through the depigmentation of gold fish in vivo. The melanogenesis of B$_{16}$ melanocytes was founded to be activated dose and time dependently by the treatment of u- MSH. When the B$_{16}$ melanocytes was treated with 200nM of $\alpha$-MSH, the morphology of melanocytes was remarkably changed. The melanin content and the synthesis of tyrosinase were strikingly increased. Lagenaria ieucantha inhibited the melanin formation stimulated by $\alpha$-MSH without affection of cell viability. However, Lagenaria leucantha didn't inhibit tyrosinase activity and showed weak suppression on the synthesis of tyrosinase. These results suggest Lagenaria leucantha might inhibit melanin formation with tyrosinase independent manner. Lagenaria ieucantha also inhibition melanin biosynthesis with 18mm inhibition zone in S.bikiniensis. To evaluate the inhibitory activity of melanogenesis of Lagenaria leucantha in vivo, we examined its effect on depigmentation of gold fish. Lagenaria ieucantha remarkably reduced the size and density of melanophores in gold fish. These results suggest that Lagenaria ieucantha can be used as a whitening agent in cosmetics.ics.s.

This paper shows the design of the 100 kW IPMSG for small hydraulic power generator. The high-efficient generator, method of the dual layer interior permanent magnet was studied to improve the method of the single layer interior permanent magnet, which is mostly used. Analysis of magnet arrangement and cogging torque was done by FEM. According to structure analysis of dual layer interior permanent magnet, the amount of usage of the permanent magnet was reduced and cogging torque was decreased as well. With these successful results, the high-efficient generator design was accomplished. Based on the results of the structure analysis, the test product was designed and manufactured. And the design values and performance outputs were compared and verified with success. Also, the economic feasibility was conducted based on the electric power generated from the test product installed at the site. By the B/C analysis, in case that only SMP was analyzed, B/C ratio was 1.24 at the discount ratio of 5.5%, which considered to be economically feasible. The study is expected to be used for the application of developing large scale high-efficient interior permanent magnet synchronous generator.

The underground transmission system has been internationally developing the voltage class of which increase to realizing high reliability and efficiency. Under this situation, if a company don't do much labor to elevating one's technology, the company will be hard to compete against other companies in trade. Our company has successfully developed 275kV oil-filled cable and its accessory in 1999 for Malaysia project, which was based on accumulated technological know-how, which is the highest voltage level among awarded oversea underground transmission networks in Korea. The power cable and its accessories were subjected to type approval test in accordance with IEC 60141-1 and TNB tender documents. This paper describes the main features of the type approval tests of the cable and its accessories.

We investigated the concentration degree of VOCs for ambient air in the air environment control area of Kyonggi-do in 2001. The VOCs showing higher concentration were in the ascending order of Toluene > n-Butane > 1-Butene > Benzene > n-Hexane. The concentration distribution ratio mentioned above showed almost same pattern in each city. The relative concentration ratio of Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, Xylenes which are aromatic VOCs were 1 : 6.3 : 0.6 : 1.6. It was similar to the pattern in 1999 but different from the pattern in 2000. In the aspect of seasons, the highest B.T.E.X concentration was indicated in fall and in the aspect of areas, the higher concentration showed in the ascending order of Buchon > Ansan > Kwangmyong > Shihung > Sungnam. The average concentration of target VOCs for ambient air in the air environment control area of Kyonggi-do showed lower concentration than the metropolis of Seoul but higher concentration than Kwang-ju city and Dae-gu city. The amount of total VOCs was increasing, comparing with it last year and the more increasing tendency is anticipated so that it will need to establish the proper regulative criteria.

Second-order rate constants (kN) have been measured for reactions of Y-substituted phenyl 2-thiophenecarboxylates (6a-h) with morpholine and piperidine in 80 mol % H2O/20 mol % DMSO at 25.0 0.1 oC. The Brnsted-type plot for the reactions of 6a-h with morpholine is linear with b lg = 1.29, indicating that the reactions proceed through a tetrahedral zwitterionic intermediate (T?). On the other hand, the Brnsted-type plot for the reactions of 6a-h with piperidine exhibits a downward curvature, implying that a change in the rate-determining step occurs on changing the substituent Y in the leaving group. Dissection of kN into microscopic rate constants (i.e., k1 and k2/k1 ratio) has revealed that k1 is smaller for the reactions of 6a-h than for those of Y-substituted phenyl 2-furoates (5a-h), while the k2/k1 ratio is almost the same for the reactions of 5a-h and 6a-h. It is also reported that modification of the nonleaving group from the furoyl (5a-h) to the thiophenecarbonyl (6a-h) does not influence pKao (defined as the pKa at the center of the Brnsted curvature) as well as the k2/k1 ratio.

The conventional self-tuning methods have the speed control problem of nonlinear BLDC motor which can't adapt against any kinds of noise or operation circumstances. In this paper, supposed to solve these problem to PI parameters controller algorithm using ANN. In the proposed algorithm, the parameters of the controller were adjusted to reduce by on-line system the error of the speed of BLDC motor. In this process, EBPA NN was constituted to an output error value of a BLDC motor and conspired an input and output. The performance of the self-tuning controller is compared with that of the PI controller tuned by conventional method(Z&N). The effectiveness of the proposed control method IS verified thought the Matlab Simulink.

Background: Glucocorticoids (GCs) are commonly used in many chemotherapeutic protocols and play an important role in the normal regulation of bone remodeling. However, the prolonged use of GCs results in osteoporosis, which is partially due to apoptosis of osteoblasts and osteocytes. In this study, effects of Korean Red Ginseng (KRG) on GC-treated murine osteoblastic MC3T3-E1 cells and a GC-induced osteoporosis mouse model were investigated. Methods: MC3T3-E1 cells were exposed to dexamethasone (Dex) with or without KRG and cell viability was measured by the 3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. Realtime polymerase chain reaction was performed to evaluate the apoptotic gene expression; osteogenic gene expression and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity were also measured. Western blotting was performed to evaluate the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) proteins. A GC-induced osteoporosis animal model was used for in vivo study. Results and conclusion: The MTT assay revealed that Korean Red Ginseng (KRG) prevents loss of cell viability caused by Dex-induced apoptosis in MC3T3E1 cells. Real-time polymerase chain reaction data showed that groups treated with both Dex and KRG exhibited lower mRNA levels of caspase-3 and -9, whereas the mRNA levels of Bcl2, IAPs, and XIAP increased. Moreover, groups treated with both Dex and KRG demonstrated increased mRNA levels of ALP, RUNX2, and bone morphogenic proteins as well as increased ALP activity in MC3T3-E1 cells, compared to cells treated with Dex only. In addition, KRG increased protein kinase B (AKT) phosphorylation and decreased c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) phosphorylation. Moreover, microcomputed tomography analysis of the femurs showed that GC implantation caused trabecular bone loss. However, a significant reduction of bone loss was observed in the KRG-treated group. These results suggest that the molecular mechanism of KRG in the GC-induced apoptosis may lead to the development of therapeutic strategies to prevent and/or delay osteoporosis.
