The Literature Review on Procedure of Historical Changes on Herb Medicines in Chapter Sinmun Jeonkwang of 『Donguibogam』 (『동의보감(東醫寶鑑)』 신문(神門) 전광(癲狂) 처방의 전사(轉寫)에 대한 연구)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to study as reference for practical application in clinics, examine the procedure of historical changes and compare components and their doses of herb medicines, which are recorded in the chapter, Sinmun Jeonkwang of "Donguibogam". Methods : I examined 19 Herb Medicines (Ed note: no need to capitalize the 'h' and 'm') in Chapter Sinmun Jeonkwang of "Donguibogam". Fourteen books, which were noted in Chapter Sinmun Jeonkwang of "Donguibogam" and 16 books in Jeonkwang part of "The Eastern Medical Textbook of neuropsychiatry" and 25 books were mentioned in same part of "Uibujeonrok", were selected as reference. Results and Conclusions : Fourteen documents were referred to the 19 Herb Medicines in Chapter Sinmun Jeonkwang of "Donguibogam". Seventeen Herb Medicines were recorded in the source book but 2 Herb Medicines were not recorded. Fourteen Herb Medicines among 19 were recorded in the source book, which were directly quoted from the firstly appeared books, and 3 Herb Medicines were re-quoted from the other books that succeeded the source books. I suspect that the components and dosages of the Herb Medicines were revised, according to the author's clinical experience and circumstances.

  • Forty herbal drugs which are described to have potential antitumor activity were solvent-fractionated with petroleum ether, ether and ethyl acetate in sequence. The cytotoxic activity was mostly shown in the ether fraction(40.54%) and petroleum ether fraction (35.15%), but scarcely in the water phase (10.8%), meaning that most of the active components had less polar property. Twenty-seven percent of the drugs tested were active, which is higher value than 10.4% of the random sampled drugs The drugs possessing the $ED_{50}$ values less than $10{mu}g/ml$ were the roots of Lithospermum erythrorhizon, Curcuma domestica, Salvia miltiorrhiza, Astragalus membraneceus and Scutellaria indica, the leaves of Panax ginseng, S. indica and Liriodendron tulipifera, the barks of Picrasma ailanthoides and Rhus vernifera, the herbs of Agrimonia pilosa and Siegesbeckia pubescens the seeds of Tricosanthes kirilowii, P. ailanthoides, and the stem of P. ginseng.

Antinociceptive Effects of Prim-O-Glucosylcimifugin in Inflammatory Nociception via Reducing Spinal COX-2

  • We measured anti-nociceptive activity of prim-o-glucosylcimifugin (POG), a molecule from Saposhnikovia divaricate (Turcz) Schischk. Anti-nociceptive or anti-inflammatory effects of POG on a formalin-induced tonic nociceptive response and a complete Freund's adjuvant (CFA) inoculation-induced rat arthritis pain model were studied. Single subcutaneous injections of POG produced potent anti-nociception in both models that was comparable to indomethacin analgesia. Anti-nociceptive activity of POG was dose-dependent, maximally reducing pain 56.6% with an $ED_{50}$ of 1.6 mg. Rats given POG over time did not develop tolerance. POG also time-dependently reduced serum TNF${\alpha}$, IL-$1{\beta}$ and IL-6 in arthritic rats and both POG and indomethacin reduced spinal prostaglandin E2 ($PGE_2$). Like indomethacin which inhibits cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) activity, POG dose-dependently decreased spinal COX-2 content in arthritic rats. Additionally, POG, and its metabolite cimifugin, downregulated COX-2 expression in vitro. Thus, POG produced potent anti-nociception by downregulating spinal COX-2 expression.

Stucture and Intergranular Segregation of WC/WC Grain Boundaries in WC-Based Cemented Carbides (WC기 초경합금중 WC/WC界面의 구조와 입계편석)

  • The WC/WC grain boundary structure and intergranular segregation in WC-Co and WC-VC-Co cemented carbides were investigated by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy in order to elucidate whether contiguous boundaries were present or not at the atomic level. Some grain boundaries were separated by liquid phase, while others were contiguous at the atomic level. Cobalt was found to be segregated to WC/WC grain boundaries in WC-Co. Cobalt and vanadium were co-segregated to grain boundaries in WC-VC-Co. The segregation width in both materials was about 6 nm. These results suggest that the vanadium present in contiguous boundaries acts as an effective barrier to the migration of boundaries during sintering and annealing. This could explain the grain growth inhibiting mechanism of VC added to WC-Co.

Enhancement of Physical Properties in Partially Crosslinked Waste High Density Polyethylene (재활용 고밀도 폴리에틸렌의 가교에 의한 물성 향상 연구)

  • The characteristics of crosslinking and physical properties in partially crosslinked waste high density polyethylene (HDPE) were studied by introducing reactive melt processing with perbutyl peroxide (PBP). It was found that impurities in waste HDPE affected the crosslinking kinetics. Decrease in density and heat of fusion were observed in partially crosslinked HDPE while its melt viscosity increased. It was explained that impurities in waste HDPE enhanced the crosslinking compared to pure HDPE As a result, dramatic mechanical property improvement was achieved in the waste HDPE by crosslinking reaction.

  • This paper presents a modified entropy-based test of fit for the inverse Gaussian distribution. The test is based on the entropy difference of the unknown data-generating distribution and the inverse Gaussian distribution. The entropy difference estimator used as the test statistic is obtained by employing Vasicek's sample entropy as an entropy estimator for the data-generating distribution and the uniformly minimum variance unbiased estimator as an entropy estimator for the inverse Gaussian distribution. The critical values of the test statistic empirically determined are provided in a tabular form. Monte Carlo simulations are performed to compare the proposed test with the previous entropy-based test in terms of power.

  • This paper examines empirically Durham's (2008) asset pricing models to the KOSPI200 index. This model Incorporates the VKOSPI index as a proxy for 1 month integrated volatility. This approach uses option prices to back out implied volatility states with an explicitly speci ed risk-neutral measure and risk premia estimated from the data. The application uses daily observations of the KOSPI200 and VKOSPI indices from January 2, 2003 to September 24, 2010. The empirical results show that non-affine model perform better than affine model.

Phenolic Constituents from the Flowers of Synurus excelsus (큰수리취 꽃의 페놀성 성분)

  • Seven phenolic compounds, scopoletin (1), caffeic acid methyl ester (2), apigenin 7-O-${\alpha}$-L-rhamnosyl-(1${\rightarrow}$6)-O-${\alpha}$-D-glucoside (3), isorhamnetin 7-O-${\alpha}$-D-glucoside (4), isorhamnetin 3-O-${\alpha}$-D-glucoside (5), luteolin (6), and quercetin 3-methyl ether (7) were isolated from the methanol extract of the flowers of S. excelsus. Their structures were established by chemical and spectroscopic methods. The isolated compounds were tested for their cytotoxicity against four human cancer cell lines in vitro using a SRB method. The compounds 4 and 7 showed moderate cytotoxicity with ED$_{50}$ values ranging from 1.59 to 13.14${\mu}$g/ml.

Dry Sliding Wear Behavior of Carbide-Particle-Reinforced 7075 Al Alloy Matrix Composites (탄화물(SiC, TiC, $B_4C$ ) 입자 강화 7075 Al 합금 기지 복합재료의 건식 미끄럼 마멸 거동)

  • 무가압침투법으로 제조된 부피분율 10~24% SiC, TiC, B$_4$C 탄화물 입자강화 7075 Al 합금 기지 복합재료의 건식 미끄럼 마멸거동을 강화입자의 종류, 크기 및 부피 분율을 변수로 연구하였다. 미끄럼 마멸 시험은 pin-on-disk 형태의 마멸 시험기를 사용하여, AISI 52100 베어링강을 상대재로 상온 대기 중에서 실시되었다. 마멸특성의 분석과 마멸기구의 규명을 위하여 마멸면과 마멸단면을 SEM, EDS를 이용하여 분석하였다. 제조된 복합재료의 압축 시험을 통하여 측정된 항복강도와 가공경화지수는 서로 반비례하였고, 각 시편간의 경도 차는 크지 않았다. 마멸 시험결과, 크기 및 부피 분율이 7$\mu\textrm{m}$ !0%인 SiC 입자로 강화된 복합재료를 제외하고, 전체 복합재료 시편은 7075 Al 기지 합금에 비해 낮은 마멸 속도를 보였다. 10N 이하의 저하 중에서는 강화상의 종류와 상관없이 복합재료는 낮은 마멸 속도를 보였고, 25N 이상의 고하중에서는 TiC 입자강화 복합재료가 가장 낮은 마멸 속도를, SiC 입자강화 복합재료가 가장 높은 마멸 속도를 나타내었다. 강화 입자의 크기 및 부피 분율이 동일한 경우 SiC 입자로 강화된 복합재료가 가장 낮은 내마멸성을 나타내었다. 강화상의 크기 및 부피 분율이 증가함에 따라 미소 마멸에서 격렬 마멸로의 천이 하중이 증가하였다.
