분무건조법에 의해 제조된 Ti-Co-O계 산화물 분말의 고체 탄소에 의한 환원/침탄 (Carbothermal Reduction of Spray Dried Titanium-Cobalt-Oxygen Based Oxide Powder by Solid Carbon)

  • In the present study, the focus is on the analysis of carbothermal reduction of the titanium-cobalt-oxygen based oxide powder by solid carbon for the optimizing synthesis process of ultra fined TiC/Co composite powder. The titanium-cobalt-oxygen based oxide powder was prepared by the combination of the spray drying and desalting processes using the titanium dioxide powder and cobalt nitrate as the raw materials. The titanium-cobalt-oxygen based oxide powder was mixed with carbon black, and then this mixture was carbothermally reduced under a flowing argon atmosphere. The changes in the phase structure and thermal gravity of the mixture during carbothermal reduction were analysed using XRD and TGA. The synthesized titanium-cobalt-oxygen based oxide powder has a mixture of $TiO_2$ and $CoTiO_3$. This oxide powder was transformed to a mixed state of titanium car-bide and cobalt by solid carbon through four steps of carbothermal reduction steps with increasing temperature; reduction of $CoTiO_3$ to $TiO_2$ and Co, reduction of $TiO_2$, to the magneli phase($Ti_nO_{2n-1}$, n>3), reduction of the mag-neli phase($Ti_nO_{2n-1}$, n>3) to the $Ti_nO_{2n-1}$(2$\leq$n$\leq$3) phases, and reduction and carburization of the $Ti_nO_{2n-1}$(2$\leq$n$\leq$3) phases to titanium carbide.

  • PDP(Plasma Display Panel)용 녹색 형광체의 발광특성과 결정성을 향상시키기 위해 Zn$_2$SiO$_4$:Mn에 co-dopant로 Cr과 Ti 를 각각 첨가하여 졸-겔법으로 합성하였다. 이렇게 합성된 Zn$_2$SiO$_4$:Mn, M(M=Cr, Ti) 형광체는 고상반응의 경우와 비교하여 상대적으로 낮은 온도인 110$0^{\circ}C$에서 willemite 구조의 단일상이 형성되었다. 제조된 Zn$_2$SiO$_4$:Mn, M(M=Cr, Ti) 형광체에 대하여 진공자외선(Vacuum Ultraviolet, VUV) 영역의 147 nm 여기광원을 사용하여 발광특성을 조사하였다. Co-dopant의 영향을 알아보기 위해 Mn의 농도는 2 ㏖%, $H_2O$/TEOS의 비율은 36.1로 고정하였고, 이때 Cr과 Ti 모두 0.1 ㏖%에서 가장 좋은 발광특성을 나타냈다. Cr이 co-doping된 경우는 농도가 증가할수록 잔광시간은 짧아지나 발광강도는 지속적으로 감소한 반면, Ti를 co-doping했을 때는 오히려 낮은 농도에서 발광강도의 증가를 보이며 2.0 ㏖%에서 급격히 감소하였다.

ABS/TiO2 복합체 쉬트의 반사율과 굴곡 탄성률 (Reflectance and Flexural Modulus of ABS/TiO2 Composite Sheets)

  • 이축압출공정을 이용하여 poly(acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene)(ABS)에 titanium dioxide($TiO_2$), barium sulfate($BaSO_4$), calcium carbonate($CaCO_3$)를 함량별로 첨가하여 복합체 쉬트를 제조하였고 복합체 쉬트의 반사율과 굴곡 탄성률을 측정하였다. ABS에 첨가된 충전제의 분산성이 우수한 것을 형태학을 통해 알 수 있었다. $TiO_2$$BaSO_4$의 함량에 따라 복합체 쉬트의 반사율이 증가하였고, 특히 $TiO_2$ 20 wt%에 $BaSO_4$를 5~20 wt%를 첨가한 복합체 쉬트의 경우 반사율이 95%이상이 얻어졌다. 굴곡 탄성률 또한 $TiO_2$$BaSO_4$의 함량에 따라 증가하여 $ABS/TiO_2/BaSO_4$ 조성비 85/10/5(w/w/w)의 1864 MPa에서 $ABS/TiO_2/BaSO_4$ 조성비 55/20/25(w/w/w)의 3134 MPa로 증가하였다.

  • Nanocrystalline $BaTiO_3$ powder could be synthesized by solid-state reaction using the mixture which was prepared by a high energy milling process in a bead mill for $BaCO_3$ and nanocrystalline $TiO_2$ powders mixture. Effect of the milling time on the powder characteristic of the synthesized $BaTiO_3$ powder was investigated. Nanocrystalline $BaTiO_3$ with a particle size of 50 nm was obtained at $800^{\circ}C$. High tetragonal $BaTiO_3$ powder with a tetragonality(=c/a) of 1.009 and a specific surface area of $7.6m^2/g$ was acquired after heat-treatment at $950^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. High energy ball milling was effective in decreasing the reaction temperature and increasing the tetragonality.

  • Polycrystalline $Ti_{l-x}$ $Co_{x}$ $O_2$thin films on $SiO_2$ (200 nm)/Si (100) substrates were prepared using liquid-delivery metalorganic chemical vapor deposition. Microstructures and ferromagnetic properties were investigated as a function of doped Co concentration. Ferromagnetic behaviors of polycrystalline films were observed at room temperature, and the magnetic and structural properties strongly depended on the Co distribution, which varied widely with doped Co concentration. The annealed $Ti_{l-x}$ $Co_{x}$ $O_2$thin films with $x\leq$0.05 showed a homogeneous structure without any clusters, and pure ferromagnetic properties of thin films are only attributed to the X$l-x_{l-x}$ $Co_{x}$X$O_2$phases. On the other hand, in case of thin films above x = 0.05, Co-rich clusters formed in a homogeneous $Ti_{l-x}$ $Co_{x}$ $O_2$phase, and the overall ferromagnetic (FM) properties depended on both FMTCO and FMCo. Co-rich clusters with about 10-150 nm size decreased the value of Mr (the remanent magnetization) and increased the saturation magnetic field.

The Influence of Surface Modification of Gold Nanoparticles Supported on TiO2 in the Catalytic Activity of CO Oxidation

  • Gold catalysts supported on TiO2 have shown a unique catalytic behavior on CO oxidation, depending on surface effects. Particle size has an influence on the surface activity. To make monodisperse Au nanoparticles, organic capping ligands, such as alkylthiols, were used by a "greener" synthesis method [1,2] and Au nanoparticles were deposited on TiO2. However, organic capping ligands must be removed for high catalytic activities by the Au nanoparticles without changing the Au size [3]. We used UV ozone treatment to decompose thiol ligands. The samples have been characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy to examine the surface modification by UV ozone treatment. We show the size distribution of the gold nanoparticles by light scattering analysis and transmission electron microscopy. Au/TiO2 have been prepared using the wetness impregnation method. The catalytic performance of CO oxidation over Au supported on TiO2 under oxidizing reaction conditions (40 Torr CO and 100 Torr O2) were tested. The results show that the catalytic activity depends on particle size and the time of UV ozone exposure, which suggests the role of sulfur bonding in determining the catalytic activity of Au/TiO2 catalysts.

$SnO_2-TiO_2$ 세라믹 복합체의 일산화탄소 감응특성 및 전기적 성질 (CO Gas Sensing Characterstics and Electrical Properties of $SnO_2-TiO_2$ Composite Ceramics)

  • In order to improve CO gas sensitivity, $TiO_2$added $SnO_2$ composite ceramics were prepared. Using XRD and SEM, the phases and micro structures of these ceramics were investigated. The resistances as a function of gas atmosphere were measured by High Voltage Measure/Source Unit. The maximum 100 ppm CO gas sensitivities of $SnO_2-TiO_2$composites were 2.5 times larger than that of pure $SnO_2$ composite and showed the obvious temperature dependence of sensitivities in 500, 100 ppm CO gas atmospheres.

  • 알루미늄 및 티타늄 알콕사이드의 가수분해방법을 인용하여 고온수중에 적용할 수 있는 $Al_2O_3-TiO_2$ 복합옥사이드형 흡착제를 제조하였다. 제조한 흡착제는 $600{\sim}1400^{\circ}C$의 온도로 하소되었으며, 결정전이, 열적 특성, 비표면적 등의 물성변화를 알아 보기 위하여 X선회절, 적외선분광분석, 열분석 전자현미경 관찰, BET 방법에 의한 측정 등을 수행하였다. 그리고 Autoclave를 이용한 회분식 흡착실험으로 이 흡착제들의 $TiO_2$ 함량 및 하소 온도 변화에 따르는 고온수중에서의 $Co^{2+}$ 흡착 특성을 알아 보았다. $150{\sim}250^{\circ}C$의 온도 범위에서 $Al_2O_3-TiO_2$ 흡착제의 $Co^{2+}$ 흡착반응에 대한 표준 엔탈피 변화값은 $TiO_2$ 함량이 26mol%, 43mol%, 80mol%에 대하여 $16.5{\sim}26.0kJ{\cdot}mol^{-1}$범위에 있었으며, 이 흡착반응이 비가역적인 흡열반응임을 알 수 있었다. $250^{\circ}C$의 고온수에서 하소 온도가 $600^{\circ}C$, $TiO_2$함량이 26mol%인 흡착제의 코발트 평형흡착용량은 $0.1674meq{\cdot}g^{-1}$이었다.

분광측색계, 색차계의 색 수치 값을 이용한 타이타늄 산화막의 두께 정량화 (The Quantification of TiO2 Thickness Using Color Values by Spectrophotometer and Chromameter)

  • The anodic $TiO_2$ layers which are prepared in various anodization conditions exhibit their specific color depending on the thickness of $TiO_2$. In this study, the relationship between the color of $TiO_2$ layer, which is grown by PEO (Plasma electrolytic oxidation), and the thickness of the $TiO_2$ layer is investigated. To evaluate the color change of the $TiO_2$ layer, the value of color ($dE^*ab$) is measured and calculated by spectrophotometer and chromameter. As a result, it is found that $dE^*ab$ values and thickness of $TiO_2$ layers form a linear relationship with meaningful formular. This formula can be helpful to quantify the thickness of the $TiO_2$ layer by the numerical $dE^*ab$ values. In this process, the spectrophotometer shows more precise results than the chromameter dose. If fluoride ions ($F^-$) are included in the electrolyte, it will affect the $dE^*ab$ values of the $TiO_2$. layer. This is against the propensity, which is analyzed by XRD (X-ray diffraction) and XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy). It is important that the formular suggested in this study provides other metals which can be also anodized with the possibility of quantifying the thickness of the $TiO_2$ layer by the $dE^*ab$ values.

  • The electrical properties and the sensing properties of ZnO-TiO$_2$ composites were investigated by using the complex impedance measurement and voltage-current source and measurement unit. In air, the electrical conductivity of TiO$_2$ added ZnO increase with increasing the content of TiO$_2$ and the relative dielectric constants for 3, 5 and 7mol% TiO$_2$ added ZnO are 7, 13 and 120, respectively. In 3000ppm CO gas, the relative dielectric constants for 3, 5mol% TiO$_2$ added ZnO are 25, 28, respectively.
