This paper studied the grain size distribution of bottom sediments of Yeongil Bay which is located at the southeastern part of the Korean Peninsula. Sixty four samples collected with snapper and dredger are analyzed by roe Tap Sieve Shaker and Pipette Method. The moment parameters are calculated with the method of Friedman(1961). Most samples are composed of sand size sediments and a few samples are composed of silt and clay. The Yeongil Bay can be divided into gravel-granule zone, sand zone, and silt-clay zone. The sediments near Yeonam- Dong and Hyongsan river are moderately sorted and others are very poorly sorted according to scheme of Friedman91962). In general, sorting values are ranged from 1.0 to 3.5. The samples near Janggigap and Masin-Dong show negative and others show positive skewness values. Skewness values are ranged from -1 to 2. All samples show the leptokurtic distribution except for the samples near Masin- dong and at the deepest place near Janggigap. Kurtosis values are ranged from -1.5 to 21.9. The samples of gravel-granule zone contain more than 50% and those of silt-clay zone contain less than 50% of CaCO$\_$3/. Four different colors, black, yellow, brown and gray, are shown in the sediments of Yeongil Bay.
In order to screen microorganisms producing phopholipase D (PLD) had high transphosphatidylation activity, about 1,000 Actinomycetes strains were isolated from the 63 soil samples, collected over 6 local area in Korea. When the hydrolytic activity in the supernatant was determined, 131 strains produced PLD more than 0.3U/$m\ell$. Among 131 culture broths tested, 23 ones had transphosphatidylation activity higher than 20% and finally one strain (Actinomycetes KF923), which had highest hydrolytic and transphophadylation activity, was selected. Actinomycetes KF923 showed the highest hydrolytic activity (13U/$m\ell$) and phosphatidylation activity (95%) after 48 h fermentation using the P medium (yeast extract 1%, peptone 1%, glucose 1.5%, glycerol 1%, $CaCO_3$ 0.4%, pH 7.2). PLD was purified from the culture broth of Actinomycetes KF923 and the specific activity of purified PLD was 567U/mg. The molecular weight of PLD was about 55kD and the optimum pH and temperature were pH 6.0 and $60^{\circ}C$, respectively. The stability of PLD toward pH and temperature were high around pH 8.0 and below $40^{\circ}C$ Special metal ions were not necessary to the PLD activity.
Recent studies have shown that alum addition to litter results in many environmental and economic advantages, such as reductions in metal runoff, lower ammonia emission and improved poultry performance. However, no research has been conducted to evaluate the effects of different types of alum on soluble metals in poultry litter. The objective of this study was conducted to investigate changes in soluble metal from poultry litter with different types of aluminum sulfate (alum) under laboratory condition. The treatments used in this study, which were mixed in the upper 1 cm of litter or sprayed onto the litter surface, were 4 g alum, 8 g alum, 8.66 g liquid alum, 17.3 g liquid alum, 11.2 g A7 (high acid alum), and 22.4 g A7 (high acid alum)/100 g litter. Applying different types of alum to poultry litter reduced (P<0.05) concentrations of soluble Fe (9 to 54%), Cu (9 to 49%) and Zn (11 to 40%), relative to untreated litter, whereas it increased Ca and Mg (P<0.05). Mean soluble Fe and Cu levels in poultry litter from different types of alum decreased in the order: 22.4 g A7 (54% and 49%) > 17.3 g liquid alum (48% and 42%) > 8 g alum (48% and 31%) > 4 g alum (28% and 10%) > 8.6 g liquid alum (10% and 9%) > 11.2 g A7 (8.6% and 9%). Additionally, the high reduction in soluble Zn concentration was 4 g alum (40%), followed by 8 g alum (26%), 22.4 g A7 (25%), 17.3 g liquid alum (23%), 8.66 g liquid alum (18%), and 11.2 g A7 (11%), respectively. In conclusion, the current studies suggest that treating poultry litter with different types of alum can be applied to reduce soluble metal (Fe, Cu, and Zn) and to develop a production to merchandise for poultry litter that would result in reduction in pollutants from these materials. Furthermore, in order to improve environmental management in the poultry industry, the use of alum, liquid alum and high acid alum all should be provided a valid means of reducing negative environmental impact.
This study was conducted to investigate the effects of expanding feed processing technologies on the egg characteristics and nutrient digestibility in laying hens. A total of two hundred seventy laying hens were randomly allocated into three treatments with fifteen replications for six weeks. Dietary treatments include 1) MS(mash), 2) EC(expanded crumble) and 3) EP(expanded pellet). In the egg production, the EC and EP treatments were significantly higher than MS treatment(p<0.05). However, no significant difference was founded in egg weight(p>0.05). Egg shell breaking was increased in EC and EP treatments compared with MS treatment(p<0.05), however, egg shall thickness showed no significant difference(p>0.05). Egg production and egg shell breaking were significantly higher in EC and EP treatments than MS treatment(p<0.05), but egg weight and egg shell thickness were no significantly difference among treatment(p<0.05). Yolk color was increased in EC treatment compared with other treatments(p<0.05). Also, yolk index was significantly improved in EC and EP treatments compared with MS treatment(p<0.05). Haugh unit was increased in EC treatment compared with MS treatment(p<0.05). EC treatment had improved DM, Ca and P digestibility. In conclusion, Expanded crumble and pellet processing could improve the egg characteristic and nutrient digestibility in laying hens.

Temperature has an adverse effect for potential growth and development of Codonopsis lanceolata. The present study examined the responses of growth, yield and mineral element contents under temperature variables in C. lanceolata. Plant height exhibited the best result as being 2 m or higher the open field culture, while the growth is the most restricted in the $30^{\circ}C$. The open field culture also had the largest number of leaves in the early stage of growth. The number of leaves and the height tended to be increased with the temperature of $20^{\circ}C$ and $25^{\circ}C$. The number of branches showed no significance as 32 branches and 26 branches in open field culture and $20^{\circ}C$, respectively. The smallest number of branches was observed in the $30^{\circ}C$ with 15 branches. The leaf color recorded the lowest value in the open field culture unlike the growth above the ground. But all other temperature had no significance with the leaf color value between 50.0 and 52.6. The elevated temperature induced the thinner and shorter diameter and length of root. However, the root diameter was not significantly changed with the change of 1.8 cm and 2.1 cm at open field culture, with $20^{\circ}C$ and $25^{\circ}C$, respectively. The fresh weights of the primary root and lateral roots were 6.3 g and 3.1 g, respectively, at the high temperature. The result showed the thickening of the lowest part under the ground as restricted. The fresh weights of the main root and lateral root were the highest on the open field culture, 20.6 g and 12.2 g, respectively. The contents of cellulose were the highest as 4.41% in the $20^{\circ}C$, followed by the open field culture, $25^{\circ}C$ and $30^{\circ}C$. The higher temperature reduced the contents of cellulose. Moreover, P showed higher ratio in the high temperature while Ca and Mg exhibited the higher ratio towards the low temperature. On the contrary, minor quantity (less than 1%) of mineral nutrients was observed towards all temperature variables.

When RC (Reinforced Concrete) structures are exposed to sea water, steel corrosion can occur and this leads a degradation of structural performance. Referring the electro-deposition system with sea water from the 1st step research, durability and structural performance are evaluated in coated steel and RC members containing it in the 2nd research. In the durability performance test, Half Cell Potential test is performed and the coated steel is evaluated to have the high resistance to corrosion, which shows only 35% of corrosion velocity in normal (bare) steel. In the structural performance test, tensile strength, adhesive strength, and flexural/shear in RC member are performed. For the electro-deposit coated steel, increasing ratios of 3.2% and 8.8% are evaluated in the test of tensile strength and adhesive strength, respectively. For the structural test in RC member, there is no big difference between RC members with coated and non-coated steel in ultimate load and failure pattern It is evaluated that the chemical compound with $CaCO_3$ and $Mg(OH)_2$ from electro-deposition causes slightly increased structural performance. The electro-deposit coated steel can be more widely applied after performance verification from several tests like fatigue, resistance to impact, and long term-submerging test.
This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of compost leachate and concentrated slurry on growth of tomato in hydroponic culture. In process of composting, compost leachate was produced water was through a saturated compost heap. The concentrated slurry was produced by filtration and concentration by membrane process. Filtration of pig slurry was necessary to prevent the hose clogging in hydroponics culture. The treatments of this experiment were consisted of seven different liquid fertilizers; compost leachate(CL), concentrated pig slurry (CS), compost leachate+byproduct(CL+BP), concentrated pig slurry+byproduct(CS+BP), compost leachate 50%+nutrient solution50%(CL+NS), concentrated pig slurry 50%+nutrient solution50%(CS+NS) and nutrient solution(NS) for tomato based on nitrogen content. The chemical nutrient solution was the solution of National Horticulture Research Station for the growth of tomato. The concentration of nutrient solution was adjusted a range of $1.6{\sim}2.0 mS/cm$ in EC. 1. The compost leachate and concentrated pig slurry were low in phosphorus(P), calcium(Ca), magnesium(Mg), but rich in potassium(K). 2. Plant height, SPAD value of tomato was highest in the plot of CS+NS, intermediate in CL, CS+BP, and lowest in 100% concentrated pig slurry. 3. The tomato yield of compost leachate plot was 91% compared with inorganic nutrient solution. The compost leachate solution could be used as a nutrition solution of tomato in organic hydroponics. 4. The growth including plant height, SPAD value, fruit number, fruit weight and yield of tomato in the CL 50%+NS 50% was similar in the control. In conclusion, the mixture solution of 50% pig slurry and 50% nutrient solution could be used as a nutrition solution of tomato hydroponic culture.
Mine and leachate waters were collected from the Okdong mine for study on reaction with oxidizing agents such as NaOCl and $H_2O_2$. The pH and EC of the mine and leachate waters are 5.77, 831 uS/cm, and 6.38, 1920 uS/cm, respectively. The concentrations of Mg, Mn, and Zn are 23.25 mg/l, 14.90 mg/l, and 22.99 mg/l for the mine water and 98.75 mg/l, 3.38 mg/l, and 6.16 mg/l for the leachate water. The concentrations of Mg, Mn and Zn decreased after the reaction with the oxidizing agents and mine water. The concentrations of Mg, Mn and Zn rapidly decreased when oxidizing agents increased. The saturation indices that were computed by visual MINTEQ for initial mine and leachate water were undersaturated with Mg, Zn and Mn compounds. The precipitates after the reaction with the oxidizing agents are composed mainly of mangano-calcite[(Mn, Ca)$CO_3$] with small amount of calcite-magnesian and calcite.
PGA is formed in a route of CO2 fixation of RuBP catalyzed by RuBPCase, followed by reduction of the PGA by NADH to GAP This reduction is enhanced in an anionic micellar solution(SDS), in which NADH is distributed in the aqueous and the micellar pseudophases in a given ratio. This micellar bounded NADH reacts to PGA, and in higher micellar concentration than $1.25{\times}10^{-2}M$, most of NADH is oxidized to NAD+ by PGA. On the other hand, in the solutions of the positive ionic(CTABr), zwitter ionic(Chaps) and nonionic (Brij and Triton X-100) micelles, the reactions are also enhanced and the concentrations of NADH reach minima with micellar concentrations. Such minima are typical of micellar catalyzed bimolecular reactions, and the fall in concentrations of the reductant followed by a gradual increase is charataristic of reactions of hydrophobic substrates: that is, the reductions of PGA by NADH are sharply enhanced in a range of the lower micellar concentrations, and NADH amounts in ca. $1.25-2.50{\times}10^{-3}M$ micellar solutions are reached to minima, followed by gradual increases of the reductant concentration.
