Activity improvement of Ni metal catalysts for carbon dioxide reforming was studied using HY-zeolite as the main supporter. As the reaction temperature increased, $CH_4$ and $CO_2$ conversions increased, and conversions higher than 80% was obtained above $700^{\circ}C$. As the Ni loading increased, the catalyst activity increased, and the highest activity was shown for the Ni loading of 13wt%. The HY-zeolite support showed the highest intial conversions of $CH_4$ and $CO_2$, but it showed faster deactivation than a ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ support. Nevertheless, it maintained the $CH_4$conversion higher than 80% after 24 hr reaction. The effect of promoters such as Mg, Mn, K, and Ca was also studied. It was observed that the Mg promotor exhibited the highest catalyst activity and less deactivation compared with Mn, K and Ca. After 24hr reaction, The optimum Mg content was found to be 5wt%.

Black carbon (BC) concentrations were measured with an aethalometer (AE-16, 880 nm) at time interval of 5-min at an urban site of Gwangju over a year 2008. 24-hr filter-based integrated measurements of $PM_{2.5}$ particles were also made at the same site during the winter and summer intensive periods to test any optical loading bias in the raw BC data measured by aethalometer. BC concentration was higher in winter than in summer, possibly due to increase in emissions from energy consumption and poor dispersion with reduction of boundary layer in winter. Also temporal cycles of BC indicate that short-term transient spikes were common, occurring primarily during the rush-hour periods. A similar feature was also observed in diurnal concentration cycle of CO, mainly emitted from motor vehicles. When both low wind speed and weather patterns such as mist, haze and etc were combined, high BC concentrations frequently occurred. The amount of optical loading effect described by the "k" factor showed the seasonal variation, ranging from 0.0003 to 0.0036. This implies that optical loading effect is not seen at all times. From the comparison between the filter-based elemental carbon (EC) and aethalometer BC data, it was found that the loading compensated BC values were more reasonable than the raw BC ones reported from the aethalometer.

In this work, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) was added into diethylenetriamine (DETA) aqueous solution for high $CO_2$ loading via phase splitting of absorbents during $CO_2$ absorption. Immiscible two phases were formed in the range of more than 30 wt% of NMP in 2 M DETA + NMP + water absorbents because of low solubility of DETA-carbamate in NMP solution. As the composition of NMP in the absorbents increased, the difference of $CO_2$ loading between each phase increased and the volume of bottom phase decreased. In $CO_2$ absorption in packed column by 2 M DETA + NMP + water absorbents, the absorption rate decreased in the range of more than 40 wt% of NMP. It is due to the increasing of mass transfer resistance in liquid film of absorbents at the high concentration of NMP. DETA + NMP + water absorbent is expected as the promising one for reducing the regeneration energy of absorbents according to volume reduction of $CO_2-rich$ phase.
In this study, surface treatment of the elastomeric matrix was investigated to develop a substituting material for steel dynamic damper of automobile. The key technology is to get ultra high density elastomeric compound in order to substitute steel dynamic damper. The optimum matrix material(chloroprene rubber) and filler(metal powder) were selected for this. The several properties of elastomeric compound were examined. According to the results, the $t_{s2}$ of filled elastomeric compound was decreased with increasing the filler loading whereas the $t_{90}$ was increased. Also, tensile strength and rebound resilience were decreased with filler loading. To solve the problem of high filler loading, the photo grafting technique was employed on elastomeric matrix. The degree of grafting was determined by FTIR-ATR. Also, the filler surface was modified by chemical etching and the surface morphology was examine by SEM. After chemical treatment of filler, the particle size analyzer was used to examined the particle size, size distribution, and morphology of the modified filler.

for the removal of carbon dioxide in flue gas, which is the main cause of the global warming, chemical absorption methods were widely used for years. Alkanolamines such as MEA, AMP, MDEA are mainly used as an absorbent. In this study, cyclic amines - Piperazine, Piperidine and Cyclohelylamine are investigated to compare the chemical solubilities, absorption capacities and rate ot reaction. In conclusion, Piperazine is the most effective absorbent of $CO_2$ and ran be the excellent alternative to the former absorbents. Experiments were performed at 5, 10, 15 weight percent, 30, 40, $50^{\circ}C$, and the gas solubilities are determined by back-titration method, and using Gas Chromatography the absorption rate was compared.

The knuckle crane design in Korea has been performed by assuming a cantilever beam type structure and numerically analyzing design data and finally improving the stiffness by replacing material. In our study, a complete finite element model of the knuckle crane is constructed and finite element analysis is conducted using Optistruct. Structural optimization to reduce the weight of the knuckle crane is processed by applying maximum loading condition at the largest radius of motion, which is the worst case of loading condition. As the results, existing over stiff design in a knuckle crane is corrected to meet a desired design limit and overall weight is reduced, which eventually leads to a reduction of $CO_2$ emission.

The fiber wall filling(FWF) technology, which is based on Precipitatin of fillers in the micropores of the cell wall structure of never-dried chemical pulp fiber, has been developed to improve filling and loading process in papermaking. In presenting FWF technique here, micropores of pulp fiber are first impregnated with an ionic solution of water soluble salt and consecutively impregnated with the second salt solution. This procedure generates an insoluble precipitate within the micropores of cell wall by chemical interaction of these two ionic salt solutions This is the first attempts to use FWF technology for the quality of waste paper grade which is recycled in papermaking, even though this FWF technology has been impressively improved for never-dried chemical pulp in filling and loading process of papermaking. The precipitated amount of CaCO$_3$ and SrCO$_3$ reached 5-6% and 4-5% of the waste paper weight respectively, which was measured by ash content of the burned waste paper fiber. On the other way the precipitated amounts of those materials impregnated into never-dried chemical pulp fiber have reached 17-18% and 16-18% respectively. The micropore loading technique gives optical and physical properties to the handsheets formed with celt-wall-filled fibers which are better than those handsheet properties resulting from conventional loading. The papers made from the cell-wall-filled pulps are stronger than those with the customary location of filler between the fibers.
Pt catalyst was adsorbed on Carbon nanofiber (CNF) by modified polyol method after acid treatment of the carbon support with $HNO_3$ and $H_{2}SO_{4}$. As the time for acid treatment increases, more oxygen functional groups on carbon surface were produced which improve the loading amount and dispersion of Pt catalyst on carbon supports. In order to inspect the effect of CNF acid treatment time on electrochemical corrosion, constant potential of 1.4 V was applied to a single cell for 30 min and the amount of $CO_2$ emitted was monitored with on-line mass spectrometry. According to the results of our experiment, more $CO_2$ was produced with Pt/ oxidized-CNF catalyst in compared to that with unoxidized-CNF. Increasing acid treatment time also induces the more $CO_2$ emission. Besides, performance degradation after corrosion test expanded with severer carbon corrosion. From the observed results, it can be concluded that the acid treatment of CNF is beneficial to catalyst loading, but it also is a significant factor declining the fuel cell durability by accelerating electrochemical oxidation of carbon support.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate $CO_2$ reduction and the flexural performance of steel wire-integrated void deck plate slabs that were inserted in omega-shaped steel plates to reduce concrete and welded H-section beams. The void deck plate slab can secure the structure, not only reducing the weight of the building but it is also eco-friendly. Therefore, this study evaluated the flexural performance of the composite beam by conducting a monotonic loading test with the use of actuators. It quantitatively evaluated the $CO_2$ emission based on earlier studies. The main test parameters are the concrete thickness of upper slabs, and the interrupted width of the omega-shaped steel plate. The result of the test showed that the welded H-section beam applied steel wire-integrated void deck plate slabs that were inserted into the omega-shaped steel plate declined in flexural performance on the composite beam after reducing concrete volume. Likewise, it is effective in reducing $CO_2$.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the manufacturing feasibility of WC-Co milling inserts via Powder Injection Molding (PIM) process. WC-Co is used in a wide variety of cutting tools due to its high hardness, stiffness, compressive strength and wear resistance properties. WC-Co parts for a high stress application were conventionally produced by the press and sinter method, which were Iimited to 2 dimensional shapes. Manufacturing WC-Co parts for a high stress application by PIM implies that tool efficiency can be highly improved due to increased freedom is design. P30 grade WC powder (WC-Co-TiC-TaC system) was mixed with RIST-5B133 binder and injection molded into milling inserts (Taegu Tech. Model WCMX 06T 308). The mean grain size of the powder was about 0.8$\mu$m. Injection molded specimens were debound by solvent extraction and thermal degradation method at various conditions. The specimens were sintered at 140$0^{\circ}C$ for 1 hr in vacuum. Carbon content, weight loss, dimensional change, and macro defects of the specimen were carefully monitored at each stage of the PIM process. PIMed WC-Co milling inserts reached 100% full density after sinteing. Its mechanical properties and micro-structures were comparable with the press and sintered milling insert. Carbon content of the sintered WC-Co insert was mainly determained by the atmosphere of thermal debinding. By controlling powder loading and injection molding condition, dimensional accuracy could be obtained within 0.4%. We confirm that PIM can not only be an alternative manufacturing method for WC-Co parts economically but also provide a design freedom for more effieient cutting tools.
